Myk JL reacted to Ladywriter in Special Prosecutor for Bush War Crimes
We're into our second week of President Obama's new
administration and are already seeing signs of change.
Yet many activists want to make sure we as a nation
don't forget the possible crimes committed under the
last administration in the name of the "war on terror."
That's why we're sharing with you this action alert
from our friends at Democrats.com. Sign their petition
to call on our new Attorney General Eric Holder to
appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and
prosecute any and all government officials who have
participated in torture and other war crimes:
http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AE2M0/YR4X/ANR12
----------------------------------------------
Now is our time to pursue truth and justice. Please
join us in calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to
appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate and
prosecute any and all government officials who have
participated in torture and other war crimes.
In the final days of their administration, President
Bush and Vice President Cheney admitted they authorized
"enhanced interrogation" of prisoners, specifically
including waterboarding. But "enhanced interrogation"
is simply a euphemism for torture, which was so severe
that it caused the deaths of at least 70 prisoners.
Please sign our petition calling for a Special
Prosecutor now: http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AE2M0/YR4X/ANR12
As Major General Antonio Taguba, the Army general who
led the investigation into prisoner abuse at Iraq's Abu
Ghraib prison has stated:
"After years of disclosures by government
investigations, media accounts and reports from human
rights organizations, there is no longer any doubt as
to whether the current administration has committed war
crimes. The only question that remains to be answered
is whether those who ordered the use of torture will be
held to account."
The United States is a representative democracy. The
actions of our government officials are done in the
name of its citizens. We are outraged that torture been
committed in our name. Join us in urging Attorney
General Holder to appoint a Special Prosecutor to
prosecute those responsible for torture to the fullest
extent of the law: http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AE2M0/YR4X/ANR12
Thanks for everything you do.

Myk JL reacted to Ladywriter in Obama to let states set car emission standards
President set to change Bush policy; Clinton also to name climate envoy
WASHINGTON - Plunging into energy policy, President Barack Obama is poised to give states a freer hand in curbing emissions from cars, and to get his government moving on fuel-efficiency standards that could remake the auto industry. Obama will announce his plans Monday at the White House, according to officials familiar with the details who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting the president.
Separately, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will announce the appointment of a climate change envoy on Monday.
The job is expected to go to Todd Stern, who served in a variety of positions during the Clinton Administration, including the senior White House representative at the Kyoto negotiations.
its about fuckin time can't wait to see it happen

Myk JL got a reaction from Dubird in Complaint about Obama on day 1
Only people dumb enough to stand out in a lightning storm should believe in "divine intervention".
Obama is going to need every single day till the next election to fix GWB's mess.
Wasting time in a church isn't going to fix the US's problems.

Myk JL reacted to Ladywriter in URGENT: Stop the Auto Bailout
December 10, 2008
Dear fellow Patriot,
Just as we promised, Congressional leaders weren't content with
their $700 billion bailout this past fall and are ready to pass
another one -- this time for the American automotive industry.
Visit our activist Liberty Blog at
http://www.campaignforliberty.com to learn how you can help fight
this round of government theft and wealth redistribution, or just
keep reading.
In the agreement just formulated earlier today by Congressional
Democrats and the White House, our government has pledged to
wrest another $23 billion away from taxpayers to subsidize the
inefficiency and reward the poor management and performance of --
count them -- one, two, three giant corporations.
But that's not all.
More intervention like this means greater government oversight
and regulation -- and more inflation as the government prints and
spends even more dollars.
As one economic thinker once reflected, a subsidy may be a form
of establishment, but it's really a means of capture.
Even if the bailout passes the house, we have a chance to muster
some opposition in the Senate.
Using the contact information provided on our website, tell your
Senator to support the Ensign filibuster. While you're at it,
thank Senator Ensign for standing up to Big Labor and Big
Business.
Auto Bailout Looming
It looks like the White House and Congressional Democrat
leadership have reached a deal on the auto bailout, although
there aren't very many details at this point.
Plans for a "car czar" seem to still be included as part of the
deal. So, not only will your money be spent for the bailout, it
will be used to pay a new government appointee, staff his office,
and take care of the other requirements that come along with that
job. (It also gives them one more person to shift the blame to
when the problems continue.)
All of this is being done again, of course, out of "necessity,"
we are told. Just like buying up all the toxic assets was a
"necessity" until the Treasury got the money and decided to spend
it on everything but. This is what happens when the majority of
Congress is not guided by any philosophy other than the one that
says that government can cure all of our ills with just a little
more money (or billions more).
A vote could come at any time, with signs pointing toward later
today.
To keep reading for up-to-date news on the bailout, sample
letters, and yourrepresentatives' contact information, visit
C4L's blog at http://www.campaignforliberty.com and take action
right away.

Myk JL reacted to DeathscytheX in Free 20oz Dr. Pepper, 1 for everyone in America.
http://www.drpepper.com/freeDrPepper/
An odd some months ago, Dr. Pepper claimed they'd give everyone in the US a free dr. pepper if Guns n' Roses would release their album (17 years in the making) before the end of this year. We'll it came out, and Dr. Pepper is holding its in of the bargin. You have until 6pm EST to register, and the site has been bogged down for hours. Apparently you have to wait 4-6 weeks for it, I kinda wish they would have made a print out coupon.

Now planes and cars can be lighter, so they'll use less fuel, but also have improved strength and durability. And of course, the military applications are probably huge too.

Myk JL reacted to Ladywriter in Support Ron Paul's "American Freedom Agenda Act"
We need to reclaim ALL of the civil liberties ground we've lost in
the last seven years. And one bill would do exactly that. The lead
sponsor is Congressman Ron Paul, and it's titled, "The American
Freedom Agenda Act." <http://www.downsizedc.org/etp/campaigns/82 >
The ”American Freedom Agenda Act” is a bill . . .
Created by conservatives
Supported by progressives
And introduced in Congress by Representative Ron Paul, Republican of Texas.
The full text of this bill can be found on the Background page. This legislation will . . .
Repeal the “Military Commissions Act of 2006” and thereby restore the ancient right of habeas corpus and end legally sanctioned torture by U.S. government agents
Restore the ”Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act” (FISA) and thereby outlaw warrantless spying on American citizens by the President of the United States
Give Congress standing in court to challenge the President's use of "signing statements" as a means to avoid executing the nation's laws
Make it illegal for government agents to kidnap people and send them abroad to be tortured by foreign governments
Provide legal protection to journalists who expose wrong-doing by the Federal government
Prohibit the use of secret evidence to label groups or individuals as terrorists for the purpose of criminal or civil sanctions
This one simple 3-page bill will . . .
Restore basic Constitutional protections
Empower Americans to support human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in the world at large free from the stink of hypocrisy
Protect Americans and American soldiers from blowback by foreign powers in retaliation for our government's transgression of America's most hallowed principles
If ever there was a bill that all Americans should support, it is this one. Please use the form below to send a message to your elected representatives asking them to co-sponsor the “American Freedom Agenda Act.”
Sending a message is easy. You can write as much or as little as you want. And we start with a brief sentence or two for you. We do this so that . . .
The most important point of this campaign is not lost on the Congressional office.
No one can hijack our system for a purpose inconsistent with Downsizing DC.
But you can still personalize the rest of your message — explain why you were motivated to send this message, or what you believe is the most compelling argument in support of your position.
Are these messages read even with so many folks sending a common first line? You bet they are! Congress cannot afford not to pay attention. And many DC Downsizers get responses from their Congressmen. If you receive a letter, feel free to share it with us at comments@DownsizeDC.org.
If you've used our Educate the Powerful SystemSM before just enter your user email address and password, and hit GO. You'll be taken to a screen where you can add your own comments to the message to your elected representatives.
If you're using our Educate the Powerful SystemSM for the first time, please fill out the form for new users. This information is used to direct your message to the correct Senators. Please provide your own password. Do not let the system create one for you. Remember your password. It will allow you to use our system easily in the future for other issues.

Myk JL reacted to Ladywriter in Viagra But Not Birth Control? Ask McCain to Answer Straight
John McCain - ironically enough, while aboard the
"Straight Talk Express" - was unable to answer when
confronted with a simple question: Shouldn't
insurance companies be required to cover birth control
if they cover Viagra?
That was months ago, and he still hasn't answered
the question clearly! I think it's time he answers,
and next week's debate presents the perfect
opportunity.
Watch the video and tell debate moderator Bob
Schieffer that John McCain owes millions of voters an
answer about birth control >>
http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AAMav/WLmw/ANR12
There's a reason John McCain "certainly do[es] not
want to discuss that issue," as he stammers in the
clip: Because his record shows that he's dangerously
out of touch with a nation where 98 percent of women
use birth control at some point in their lives. As
recently as 2005, McCain voted specifically against
requiring insurance companies to cover prescription
birth control.
Next Wednesday's debate is the last chance for
voters to hear from the candidates in an open forum!
And we can't afford a president who's out-to-lunch on
issues affecting women and their families.
It's time to demand real answers. Watch the
video of McCain's birth control "straight talk"
and insist that he is asked: Why should men get
insurance coverage for Viagra while some women pay the
full cost out-of-pocket for prescription birth control?
Take action >>

Myk JL reacted to Ladywriter in No blank check for wall street
Last week Wall Street's risky schemes collapsed, threatening global meltdown -- the next 48 hours could be even more important, deciding America's financial fate for decades to come. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, a former investment banker, is strong-arming Congress for $700,000,000,000 of our money to bail out the financiers who created this mess.[1] That's $700 billion, roughly what the war in Iraq has cost; and without oversight, safeguards and help for ordinary struggling Americans, the consequences could be as dire.[2]
Congressional leaders are in a race against time, and wavering. Some, like Senator Chris Dodd, have started drafting better proposals -- making those who created this crisis on Wall Street bear more of the cost and share any benefits, creating safety nets for Main Street, and introducing regulation to stop a repeat of this catastrophe.[3] There’s no shortage of decent solutions, but with the markets yo-yoing and Paulson pushing for a deal in days, Congress looks all too likely to accept the bulk of what experts are now calling a "financial coup d’etat" -- unless the American people speak up loud, clear and fast.[4] Follow the link below now to send a message to your own representatives:
http://www.avaaz.org/en/wall_street_bailout
Regardless of who becomes the next President, the rescue package we pass now will fundamentally change our national and personal finances, shaping our future for years to come. Will we fix this broken system now while we have the chance, or simply hand the financiers $2000 for every man, woman and child in the USA -- trusting them to clean up their own mess, socialising the costs and privatising the profits once again?
Both Democrats and Republicans are poised on the edge of an unprecedented decision; at this moment, our voices could make all the difference. As Americans, we need urgently to stop our leaders from surrendering to events and inspire them to choose the right course. If we fail, we, our families, and people all around the world will suffer the consequences. So let's ask our representatives to stand up for the public good and chart a decent course out of this crisis today, using the tool at this link:
http://www.avaaz.org/en/wall_street_bailout
With hope and determination,
Ben, Paul, Graziela, Ricken, Brett, Iain and the whole Avaaz team

Myk JL reacted to Sledgstone in Would you live in a dome?
http://dvice.com/archives/2008/08/styrofoam_dome.php
Check out the pictures, they actually look decent on the inside. If you got four of them connected, you could live in a pretty good sized dome home. I wonder if you could flip one of the domes upside down, bury it to ground level and connect the top dome to it... Then you could live in a duplex sphere.
I'd get one and layer dirt up the sides and on top, grow grass all over it and live like a hobbit.

Myk JL reacted to gokuDX7 in Console Gaming annihilates PC Gaming in '07
DX, you forget that all these console makers don't like the idea of open source or giving their users the ability to use their system the way they want to. Have you ever tried to mod your PS3/xbox360/Wii or add any hardware in it? It's no easy task. You can't simply add a faster DVD/Blue-Ray drive or a new Hard Drive in either. Which is gay for Wii people that fill up it's non-expandable memory with roms or Xbox360 people that see their systems overheat because the heat sink is shit or their DVD drive is overworking its self. These company's pride them selves on making money, so you wont ever see a console being as open as a PC. So as much as you want to claim consoles will offer everything a PC has and more, the simple fact is, they wont. Company's will still continue to make games for both PC and for console since they know they will make more money that way. Theres no reason why they wouldn't.
..and I still don't agree with how you use Obsolete. The PC game market is not outdated.
Dubird pointed out allot more reasons too. So I'm pretty sure you're in your own little dream world DX lol.

I gotta say this is one of, if not thee best Zombie movie I've seen all year... or ever. It's even better than 30 Days of Night (Although they were Vampires). These Zombies I'd say are almost similar to the ones in the RE4 Game. The major difference being IAL's Zombies only have the instinct to hunt & nothing else.
