Well I just landed myself a PS5 thanks to an email invite, thank fucking god. On a fricken adrenaline high right now and so freaking pumped because it means I finally get to play Cyberpunk. Gah!!!!!!! If you'll excuse me I'm going to go calm down now and let this adrenaline high subside.

    Star Trek Discovery

Kinda unrelated... but I miss the days when technology kinda forced the tone of Star Trek battles.... unlike Star Wars, they were more like lumbering slow paced naval battles with big payoffs. While its cool to see 36 phazer beams and 50 photons flying out of star ships... eh. I kinda miss the tension. These two will always be my favorite.

I got a promotion with my job yesterday. I'll now be making more than I ever have doing this. $60k a year to do something I barely got paid $35k for at my previous company. The best news is that I'll have Saturdays off, and get off by 6-7pm on most days. I don't have to go to bed like some retiree anymore. So hopefully by the end of this year. Battlefield 6 will be out... it will be good... and maybe we can get the band back together @Sledgstone and @Strider Hiryu. Even though Strider is PC master race. I'm sure it'll have cross play. My gaming life has really suffered these past 3 years.

I skipped BFV because the devs were douches, and the game design was trash. I don't regret it... hell I even bought CODs I wasn't planning on playing months after they came out because I had the itch, but I've had zero desire to even try BFV after the beta. Now I doubt I'll ever buy a Battlefield game ever again. I can see them tampering with how effective your bullet spread is or isn't to make you want to buy something... nah. They have technology to alter your performance without you knowing they gave you a handicap or boost. Maybe this is why "netcode" has been shit for years.

    2020s Predictions?

Looking back at these for 2022. My year was full of anxiety due to issues surrounding my apartment. I haven't gotten around to using my Ayaneo even after finally getting the docking station it should have come with when I preordered it. My removing Soy from my diet failed as soon as I got a coupon for a free bake good from the supermarket I usually shop at. I wanted to get molasses cookies but had to settle for a cupcake that contained soy instead. I did eventually get stricter with my carnivore diet when shopping there. And soy is now only in my diet if it's in the meat I get from gas stations. Looking back to 2022. We no longer have to wear masks! Hooray! Just in time for Putin to threaten Nuclear War as he invades Ukraine... Fuck! I survived my former landlord & I didn't get a lousy T-Shirt. Guess that doesn't matter much if I don't know how the new landlord will treat me until next year. I did try to take up a new hobby this year, but my former landlord kept distracting by giving me anxiety when it comes to my apartment. I saw 0 movies this year. Thanks, woke for saving me money that unfortunately went towards anxiety spending. 2023 Predictions. I fear Russia will accidentally nuke itself, say it was the US, then kindly ask China to nuke the US on its behalf. China will then say No. My new landlord isn't as dramatic as my former landlord, but I'll still have some form of anxiety surrounding my apartment until April. I'll hopefully be doing my new hobby before September in 2023. Until then I have a debt I have to pay off. I fear John Wick Chapter 4 will bring his wife back from the dead so he can then "pass the torch to her" (and I'll skip seeing John Wick Chapter 5, if it's called that since John Wick will be dead. People like me will be labeled sexist for saving money.) This might not happen in 2023, but I expect at some point in time I'll try to replace my Flat Screen TV with AR Glasses. Before 2030 Predictions. Hollywood will magically stop being woke due to Musk owning Titter & Henry Cavill will be the next James Bond. Who am I kidding? Legacy Media is dying & it doesn't matter if they stop being woke. I might as well say Henry Cavill will turn out to be a clone of Pierce Bronsen as they fight each other in GoldenEye 2.

This has been one of the major reasons why I've been gravitating more and more towards PC gaming and only buying the occasional PS game (either due to exclusivity or I'd rather play in on console). Sony loves to alienate their player base and while I love the Playstation and Sony it's getting to the point where I really do want to see them take a huge L and learn just how to take care of the players that support them. I mean Microsoft learned that the hard way with the One and only really started recovering once the One X came out. They've really set themselves up great with Game Pass (but we'll see how long that lasts, not really sustainable to give out free games (even brand new one) for free for a low monthly fee) and their acquisition of Bethesda gives them a huge library of games, both future and past, to really sell Game Pass and the Series X (though with Bethesda's recent flops I'm not entirely sure it's a good thing).

    Star Trek Discovery

I hear you there. It's always perplexed me since the Kelvin Timeline was introduced (JJ's Star Trek movies) that tech seems more advanced back in the 23rd century then it does in the 24th. It also perplexes me where they put all those damn phaser banks (the Enterprise-E, a Sovereign class starship and most advanced ship in the Federation as of Nemesis has 12-phaser banks and yet you see ships from newer series set earlier in canon sporting arrays like a laser light show). Sadly though tension and introspection don't get viewers anymore so it's the flashier the better. Good choice in battles as well, two of my favorites as well from the movies.

    PS Plus Games

I was going to say maybe it was because you don't have a PS5 linked to your account (why that would matter I don't know but I'm not overly familiar with the Playstation website/store, I mostly buy through my console if I'm going to buy games digitally and have only visited the site a handful of times) but I just logged into my account on my PC (using Firefox none-the-less, works fine for me with everything showing up properly (even shows the remake as free for me)) and it'll allow me to pre-order both versions for the PS5. Starting to think something is up with your account or maybe the site just doesn't like you.

The Hobbit trilogy in 4k are completely different cuts of the movie. I had no idea. I was skimming through youtube tv the other day, put on Battle of the Five Armies in the background while I got some stuff done. Then when I sat down I figured I'd finish the movie. I put on the 4k version instead and wtf. Not only is the movie visually stunning.. I had no idea my tv could look this good. I could see every strand of hair on everyone's head and everything was so crisp I could almost tell when scenes used a green screen to film. But what really blew me away was all the extra scenes and the gore. Its like this is the R rated cut. WTF. Bodies getting crushed, heads and limbs getting cut off and blood.. blood everywhere. WTF. And theres one extra scene where Thorin jumps on a goat and is like "I'm going to the top of Raven hill to kill that Azog bastard" and Dain says "How do you plan on getting past that army?" 6 more of Thorin's dwarves show up in the war chariot. Thorin: "We'll manage." and then theres like a 7 minutes scene of them tearing ass and mass murdering orcs on their way to Raven Hill. WTF. In the original movie, Thorin says he'll go to Raven Hill to kill Azog, the scene changes and we see Thorin and the others on some mountain goats ascending the hill. The amount of blood and gore in this new scene is brutal. I was shocked. But it was f*cking awesome. Now I need to watch the rest of the movies in their 4k versions to see what else is new. I read the LoTR 4k versions are also getting new scenes.

I went to Ohio to visit my family for Thanksgiving. Yes, there is covid, but we were careful. We did restaurant style rules for eating, masks on when getting plates of food, my brother's familys at their own tables all 6 foot+ away from the other tables while eating. We kept our masks on near my dad because of his immune system being compromised by the cancer treatments. Aside from that we kept the windows open to keep fresh air circulating in. We took our masks off when we'd be 6 feet away from him and each other. Its good that my mom's house is so big, the kitchen/greatroom is literally big enough to have parties of 50 people. Our handful of people was able to keep distances pretty easily. Its been 4 days since Thanksgiving and nobody is coming down with any covid symptoms so I'm guessing we did good. It was a fun time. Alot of good memories. I hardly ever visit Ohio during winter months because of winter snow storms in NY. We lucked out and its been in the 50s and only raining off and on. I caught a ride back and forth with my cousin who now lives in NY also. He had a covid test done the day before we left which was negative and I quarantined in my house for 2 weeks leading up to the trip. I'll be quarantining again for another 2 weeks just in case, but that doesn't bother me much.

    Godfall

Sadly though I think Ghost is going to be an odd outlier for the minimal to no UI approach (plus it's very obvious that SP designed the game this way because they were going for the Kurosawa feel and aesthetic). The gameplay and the sheer vast openness of the map and environment made it so a UI would hamper you more than help you (plus the game is breathtakingly beautiful and marring it with anything more then they did would be an atrocity). Plus, as you noted, they implemented a vast variety of things to hide what wasn't needed until you actually called upon it (I love the guiding winds mechanic and think more games need to implement something like it). Based on that little bit of gameplay footage I'm of the opinion Godfall needs a UI or they're really going to have to figure out how to implement some sort of minimalistic hp tracker because this type of game needs some way of tracking that stuff (I mean I'll dump on Destiny any day of the week but there UI implementation is crisp and, imo, the ideal way of going about a UI in a looter type game (though I don't like their quest tracker in the least as I think that's garish as hell and right in your face)). Then again I'm still not all that impressed by what I see. It looks fun and I'd definitely be all about those dual blades but quite honestly I think it looks rather meh. Then again looters in general just aren't my thing anymore and I blame Destiny for killing that passion in me. Ever since playing it I just can't get interested or find joy in playing anything remotely of the genre (old school looters like D2 and Torchlight are exceptions because that's my jam, it's these new ones that lack anything remotely interesting for me).

Lol!! i had no idea what it was called or how to play until now. early 90s back in korea, kids at school started to bring these pogs and they got annihilated by thick square paper called ddakji (its a similar concept but playing rules are different) bc we didnt know what to do with them. the ones with these pogs cried foul bc they were losing so badly against ddakji and tried to amend them as a prize for winning the most ddakji. but eventually found em useless and started to give them away. one of kids at my TKD class gave me like 20 ninja turtle pogs (both cartoon and movie pics on em) and i thought i could sell them or something. since my uniform had no pockets, it kept falling off one by one when i was practicing kicks and eventually my instructor picked one up and hes like wtf is this lmao..i seriously thought i was gonna be in serious trouble bc some adults back then didnt like us playing with foreign stuff. i was sweating like crazy but luckily he didnt pursue who dropped them. after the class was over, i tried to sell them but no one wanted them so i gave them away to a little kid living next door to me. i even had to convince him that they were valuable otherwise he wouldnt have taken them granted we didnt know much about american cartoons and movies so they faded away within a month or so without gaining any popularity

    Ghost of Tsushima

I have to agree with DX, this game is checking all my boxes as well. Combat isn't difficult but can be extremely punishing if you fuck up (thank you spear gang bangs, you fuckers can die in a fire. Most of my deaths I can attribute to getting surrounded by 3-4 spear dudes all attacking as soon as I start laying into one). Luckily once you learn attack patterns and the right timing to parry attacks it's a cake walk. Not entirely to hip on the changing combat stances in combat as it's kind of clunky but I do enjoy how each has advantages over certain enemy types (I really love the attack patterns of basic Wind Stance, that kick at the end is so satisfying to watch connect on a spear enemy). I really enjoy sneaking around and sniping people with my half-bow or fucking with people by killing someone in the open and hiding and systematically knocking people out one by one. When Yong said it does Assassin's Creed better then Assassin's Creed he wasn't kidding (and I haven't even gotten into playing with Ghost Stance yet). Stealth in this game is extremely fun and isn't tedious at all (just wish you could assassinate Mongol leaders instead of critically damaging them, not that they're hard to kill it'd just speed up the liberating process). I'm honestly not that far into it. I've put maybe 15-18 hours in but most of that has been wandering the visually stunning island doing side shit (like side tales, mythic tales (man were those duels stunning and difficult at the same time (this was before I mastered parrying attacks, got fucked up multiple times in both duels), liberating areas, and hunting down all those Sword Kits/Inari Shrines/Shinto Shrines/etc) and overall just fucking around (I've only done 4-5 actual story quests that's how much I'm just enjoying running around being a sneaky samurai). There's just to much shit to get side tracked on, really fucking with my gamer ADHD (so many shinies >.<). I can't honestly comment on the story yet since, as I noted, I'm not that far but what little I've seen has been really good. I'm liking the whole dichotomy of watching Jin struggle between being a Samurai and becoming the Ghost, how he's rationalizing it is extremely interesting and I can't wait to see how it all plays out (sadly I already know how the game ends, damn my curiosity, but that's not deterring my enjoyment of the story so far). Quite honestly this is by far one of the best games I've played in a long time and if it wasn't for Cyberpunk coming out this year would probably be my game of the year even though I've only put 15-18 hours into it. It's been a long time (since Nier actually) that I've really enjoyed playing a game this much (I'm enjoying it so much I'm going through withdrawals when I can't play it). SP really outdid themselves with this game.

I wonder how many looters will get the CV? Pretty amazing how irrelevant social distancing is when you're smashing up shit and stealing. Some people I've been connected with on social media have completely be indoctrinated to woke culture. One of them told me razing the whole city too the ground and ruining everyone's life was worth getting the cop arrested. That's how fucked up these people are. Dude would have gotten arrested without the city getting destroyed. The video evidence is clear.. everyone was going crazy because it took more than 24 hours to make the arrest. Now he is arrested and people are still destroying property. What started the whole conversation was this person compared the riots to the Boston tea party, and then got triggered when I said that the Sons of Liberty didn't take the tea home with them, they dumped it in the harbor, they didn't destroy the ship, and they didn't set Boston on fire. A lot of people that were upset at this murder have had their cars and businesses destroyed... And people out there wonder why people are upset at the looting and rioting. These people have no where to shop now for essentials. The elderly and disabled can't drive 40 minutes to the next town. When you inconvenience the general public, you're not going to gain sympathy for your cause no matter how righteous. Basic human nature causes resentment if someone can't live their life... they really wont give a shit about someone else dying.

The Last of Us Part II

I knew about the plot because big game sites started posting about it in the headline before the super major leaks started. I don't know what the first game was about outside of the obvious, but the story of the second game seems out of line with the original... and the obvious cliche to turn to with post apocalyptic settings of any type after so long. If Naughty Dog would have just stuck with their statement and not struck down videos, it wouldn't have been so much of an issue. The fact that they've done what they've done is just going to encourage more trolls to post spoilers everywhere and make it worse. At this point they'd be wise just to delay it into the PS5 launch and let things blow over. All the YTers are going to be ready to dunk on it. Even if the country is reopened by next month, people still will have to find new jobs, and even those that will have one instantly, I'd imagine buying video games isn't on the top of the priority list. Any kind of lacking in sales is going to cause a social media field day.

    Final Fantasy VII

It is a full game. Its a retelling of the original. If they did the whole story in one game like this, the PS4 probably wouldn't be able to hold it. The whole only 10% isn't going to hold up anymore now that its out because they put in an effort that's more than just better graphics and different combat system. You'll be waiting probably 6 years to get the full story if I had to guess. And the rest of it will probably be on PS5. It won't be as long between games now that the engine and systems have been built, but if I had to guess, it will still be 2 years between each part. The reason the price is so high is because its gotta be resellers. I saw the other day that physical is sold out everywhere. Just another reason why I do digital. Edit: lol replied at the same time as Sledge and said the same thing essentially.

    Final Fantasy VII

They took the first 5 hours of the original game and turned into 40 hours. The Boss fights can't be shortened by much even with a good strategy, you won't be able to deal an immense enough damage to make them short. They'll either be kinda long or really long. They're show pieces with minor cutscenes splice through out. Every boss has weak spots, and ailments that they're susceptible too. A lot of your highest damage output is through the command menu. I just beat a boss that pretty much rarely stayed still, it had a weak spot on each side but it kept turning non stop. Trying to use an ability on it would only connect if you're close to the right side and it was turning towards your attack while it does its wind up animation. I found the best method to every fight is to constantly switch characters. So far the game is beautiful, the voice acting is really good, and the combat is pretty fun.

Drive-Thru banking has existed since at least the early 80s. I remember my mom would always deposit checks like this and I'd always hope the bank teller would see little kid me in the car and put a sucker in the capsule for me. There are so much misinformation going around. Trump nor the federal government as a whole has the power to shut down the country. Thats a state level thing.. one of the few things left that belongs to the individual states at least. There is no precedent for doing this. That being said, he could issue an executive order for a temporary shut down, and then there would be lawsuits. That is government overreach and even though they'd get away with it this time, eventually the Supreme court would rule that it was unconstitutional because of the type of judges he's put in there. And if you haven't been paying attention the 9th circuit has also been flipped while no one was paying attention. There is a reason why they haven't been in the news for months trying to stop Trump. But on the flip side these types don't stand for government overreach, and the 9th would now side with that. Either way, grocery stores, drive through eateries, and medical facilities will remain open. They can't shut those down ever. Especially with how selfishly Americans live now. I saw a lady bitching on a facebook post about how she needs to go to the grocery store every day to get bread because she can only buy 1 loaf and it won't last a day in a half in her house... Instead of giving up bread or limiting its consumption and eating something else, people think they shouldn't have to go with out so long as they can afford it. Some people just buy groceries for 1-2 days. Some people would really starve because they can't plan out their groceries for 2 weeks. We finally got hand sanitizer in and I saw a lady pull it out of her grocery bag after she bought it and dump it in her hands in a fit of orgasmic euphoria like shes been cured of all ailments now and forever. 🙄 People are ridiculous... she was probably one of those types that never washes her hands and only uses sanitizer like its a replacement for that. Edit: Slippers, Even though its been years since you've touched it, it was actually just like 2 weeks ago Photobucket stopped allowing hotlinking images from your personal account unless you pony up $5 a month. So your sig is all kinds of watermarked by them. Sigs can't be seen from the phone in mobile mode, so I didn't notice until I got on my PC.

    Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

I was prepared 😛 i stockpiled 3 months worthy of supplies back in February. Hurricanes after another, or if anything bad happens, shelves are always empty here. As soon as i heard 1st case of corona virus hit the US, i was like yup..now or never. My aunt in South korea didnt believe me when i told her ppl here were fighting over toilet papers..i couldnt explain any furthur.. Texas is beginning to catch up to california in corona cases it seems. Will have to see in coming weeks but Houston's response has been very slow and not enough testing. One of 4th largest cities in the States and yet we dont even have a curfew yet. Our current weakass lockdown order ends in a couple days, so we are going to hear soon about extention and hopefully a strict curfew. stay safe guys. As long as you are healthy you have nothing to worry about. Unconfirmed source has it that corona has been spreading since semptember of last year and as early as november here in the States. And like many, showing corona like symptoms, i was sick for 3 days in January, with body chills, chest pains, and some headaches but no fever. and lingering dry cough that lasted for 2 months.. but we'll never know if it was or not and take this seriously as it passes like other respiratory viruses slow down during warm weather. Unless its manmade..cough 😛

Wal-Mart is the worst everywhere since its pretty much the average person's first go to. So naturally they get hit the hardest. Personally I never shop there because I hate the general public and like to avoid them at all costs. I mostly do my shopping when I get off work. Yeah things that aren't on sale are hella expensive compared to Wal-Mart but my peace of mind is worth it. My store is one of the lesser busy ones, but our truck sizes are all the size of our biggest truck of the week right now, and thats only because there isn't enough product to come in.. otherwise it would be quadruple the size. Where is everyone putting all this fucking food? We've already put up signs that you can't bring any of the stuff back for refunds. I think everyone is trying to curb the purchasing madness by doing this. I know Costco did this as well. I bet there a bunch of morons, hording with their credit card, and they're gonna be up shit's creek when they can't return any of it and can't pay their credit card. Like I watch people just stroll by with an overflowing shopping cart every day, everyone. I can't even get a damn coffee on a break without having to stand in line behind giant orders. Its completely unnecessary. Right now its seriously like Jingle All the Way, and all the groceries are Turboman dolls.

Bacon Jerky is heaven, boy do I love me some Bacon Jerky. I'll have to try Wicked Cutz out (was browsing their site last night, might do an order next pay day (if there is one)) because I also hate dry ass jerky. Then again it'll be hard to beat the local meat shops jerky, that shit is awesome (but alas I'm sure they're fresh out with this bull shit). You can keep your pickled anything. The though of eating anything pickled, especially eggs, makes me want to throw up (don't ruin perfectly good eggs by pickling them, that's an offense to nature). So I went up to Walmart this morning and it was quite a bit better then last week except for the sheer amount of people (fucking christ it was like shopping on the day before Thanksgiving). Banana's were full in stock (good thing to as I eat those for breakfast), bread was mostly in stock (a few things here and there were missing), toilet paper of course was out (as it is everywhere in town), almost the entirity of the cold/allergy medicine area was gone (which sucks for me because I need sinus medication due to my shit sinuses as of late), but boy was frozen completely wiped out (thin pickings which sucks for me since my diet is pretty much entirely frozen foods (you think your diet is bad)). Was talking to one of my friends that works their (he was getting off when I went in) and he said it's been bad all week (he was even telling me that people were lining up 4 hours before they opened just to get in to get shit (our Walmart closes down at 8:30 pm and opens at 6 am right now). Fucking bonkers). He was also saying they're throwing 10-12 pallets of frozen freight (as I said earlier you wouldn't be able to tell by how wiped out it was) and 10 pallets of paper products a night. God damn people be crazy. Going to be really interesting next weekend.

    XBOX Series X

I'm certain that is inaccurate. Software wise it might be true. But I own software and hardware like The Original Steel Battalion (Line Of Contact) which needs a Steel Battalion Controller which only works with The Original Xbox. Kinectimals which needs a Kinect. Rocksmith which will hopefully always works as long as USB continues to exist on Xboxes. That and on some level I don't trust that all my Xbox 360 games will be allowed to work on Xbox Series X; like Skyrim, Dark Souls 2, and some of the 22 games I got from GWG that aren't playable on Xbox One. But overall I'm certain that Xbox 4 will have more backwards compatibility than PS5.

    Final Fantasy XIV

As much as I love this game, I've gotten to the point where I've become a super casual after 4 years of being a hard core player. I've won fashion wars, I'm in the top 2% of wealthiest accounts on gw2efficiency, the only time I really play is when there is a significant content drop. I've tried other MMO's, none of them really impressed me for too long. SWTOR was amazing for the story, but I never really cared to get into the end game. City of Heroes doesn't count because it was before I ever played GW2, and it was amazing for its time. Black Desert has tempted me many times, but the fact that you're forced into open world PvP upon reaching the level cap just is a no go for me. I don't like to be harassed while I'm minding my own business. I tried Blade & Soul, Revelation Online, and Vindictus. All had interesting concepts, but overall lacked certain things that kept my interest. B&S's low level areas died within a month as its more of a PvP focused game. Revelation Online's combat was.. eh, and Vindictus' optimization is reaaaly bad. World of Warcraft just never appealed to me... so I gave FF14 a shot with its free trial. Even though I don't love it as much as GW2 gameplay wise. I do like it a lot and I see the immense value in paying SE's sub. I can't fairly compare it to GW2 since I don't have a max character but here are some of my observations. The Free Trial GW2 is a F2P game, Buy to unlock everything. FF14 is F2P until level 35 with very little limitations from what I can tell outside of housing and some delivery service NPC. FF14 wins hands down here. This may be tilted because I have extensive knowledge of GW2, and how it works, but the limitations put on your account suck the life out of the enjoyment, most notably the inventory limits. With how FF14 does it, you're experiencing the full game pretty much unrestricted for a ton of hours of game play. If I'm missing out on something, I don't know what it is besides maybe mounts... but I figured you just get at a later level. Graphics and Performance GW2 is an older game, but both are on par with each other graphically. GW2 wins hands down in character, attack, and enemy animations and its not even close. That's due to the different combat systems. Where FF14 outshines GW2 is the finer details. The lighting is better, the character emote library dwarfs GW2, and along with it, the facial expressions are just amazing. There is also way less clipping of outfits and weapons. Characters don't go bald when they wear a head piece. Also FF14 runs off DX11, while GW2's severely aging engine still runs off DX9. DX9 bottlenecks mutlicore processors causing GW2 to be CPU intensive. Lag spikes, framerate drops, and skill lag are all a thing when population gets too high. Granted FF14 is more instanced, it has none of these issues. Even in a FATE full of enemies, other players, and NPCs I get zero lag, no FPS loss, and no half loaded textures for the first 10 seconds of loading into an area. FF14 is amazingly optimized, and is one of the smoothing running games I've ever played on a PC. Gameplay This one is subjective on tastes, but this is where GW2 just wins for me. I hate global cooldowns. FF14 is a more traditional MMO where you pick and attack/skill and all of your skills go on cooldown and then you pick another. There are exceptions to this but not many. GW2 has little to no global cooldowns, combat is free flowing, and often relies on fast paced, non-ending rotations where you're constantly attacking and dealing damage non stop. For the most part this means you're doing less damage per hit than you would in a game like FF14, but for someone like me, GW2's style feels better and more satisfying, especially when you can freeflow between targets even if you class or build can't cleave. Both games have a fast travel system, but GW2's is superior and using the map is way more user friendly to hit any wp anywhere in the world. FF14's map gets less detailed at times when you click a far off objective and it shows this fancy world map with no crystals to teleport to. Instead you have to use a list, and remember where they are off of that. Activities Both games seems to be the only ones with a lively open world. During the level up process in FF14, you do basic redundant quests and FATES, which are kinda like GW2's dynamic events, but way less varied, and they don't have an off shoot minor story behind them most of the time outside of some text base stuff... its mostly kill a bunch of this creature, or kill this giant creature. GW2's dynamic event's offer more variety in theory, but they take longer than fates, and once you do them once, you really don't want to repeat 99% of them. GW2's renown heart system replaces the redundant quests... with the same thing essentially. with 303 hearts, there are only so many tasks you can come up with. Both games have dungeons, altho GW2 long abandoned that content. Storytelling Both games have great story telling. GW2's stories aren't perfect, but the way they execute them has always been extremely well done. The main campaign is meh for GW2, but you're first time through was still pretty good. It has a lot of great voice acting and high stakes. FF14's voice acting is phenomenal as well. A lot of its lesser quests are all text base, which I've noticed a lot of people knock against it. I personally think the text dialogue is well done, and better than GW2's text dialogues which aren't that intricate by comparison... its almost an afterthought at times. For FF14 a ton of work has been put into the text dialogue.... so much that I've started skipping most of it for side quests. People will tell you their life's story just for you to go kill 6 squirrels. which going back to activities, I appreciate how the cliche trash quests only require you to kill 3-8 things rather than 10-20 like other MMOs traditionally have done. Rewards This is where that sub shines obviously. Go out in GW2 and kill a bunch of trash mobs, and your inventory will fill with complete garbage. FF14 respects your inventory. It's rarely dumping junk you don't need in your bag. Even better, when you complete low level quests, you can pick a bag some type of bullion that you can just sell to a vendor when the reward is under powered gear. Further more, unlike GW2, you can get new emotes and the equivalent of minis for doing small side quests. Basically cosmetics you'd have to buy from the gem store in GW2, are just being given out for small time side quests in FF14. I had a lot more to say about this category, but I'm half asleep about to pass out. Basically if you had FF's rich content, engine, with GW2's combat, it would be the ultimate MMO. Right now I'm leaning towards buying it and paying for a few months. Even paying for SWTOR for 3 months, I feel like I didn't get any value outside of being able to sprint and get the land speeder way earlier.... basically pay to get common conveniences. In what I've seen playing FF14, there is value in paying. Their trial is probably the best out there. You don't feel pressured or feel like you're missing out on anything because you're playing for free. I like that, and feel like they've earned my money with that trust in their product. That presenting it to me, would sell it. Its not really something you see much of anymore, as "try for free" these days normally come with some kind of scheme to hold candy out in front of your face in hopes you'll take the bait.

Finally got mounts. The QoL is amazing now. My sprint button will now get a much needed rest with the small 30 seconds of speed it provided of CD. Some of these mounts are ridiculous though.. some dude was riding a freaking massive whale wtf

I checked error logs but I couldn't find anything. So I changed a couple settings for the gallery and did a couple test uploads. One image loaded fine, the other upload was 3 images at once. Everything worked ok. One of the issues might have been a file size limitation. Anything around 4mb might have been timing out. I increased the upload size for all usergroups. If anyone wants to test some image uploads, go for it. 10 mb is now the largest image the forum will take at the moment. All of my test images were no bigger than 1.5 mb. We still might get an image upload timing out for large images but that might be a hard server setting I'd have to look for.

    Detroit: Become Human

First thoughts: The Good: The story is outstanding, the voice acting is S-Tier, and the graphics are beautiful. I guess not being a free movement intensive game they can cut corners on what has to be processed, because even on regular PS4 it looks like a high end PC max settings game. Just playing half way through this so far, I'm already sold for future Quantic Dream games. The end of each mission has a flow chart that shows you everyone's choices compared to yours, and even a narrower friends choices which I find to be most interesting. I believe Strider and one other person are the only people that have played on my friends list. I've seemed to line up with them for the most part until recently when I realized being "good" or "understanding" doesn't always help you with the karma system the game has... it's very shades of grey, so it better not to stress to much in being nice or trying to cater to NPCs. The Bad: The controls are pretty wonky. Unless its a certain mission segment, and very few of them, there is no free roam camera. Its purely PS1 Resident Evil style camera that is slightly more modern. There is a way to free roam, but its slow and not optimal. The investigation button allows you to pan the camera for clues, but time is frozen while you do it. Outside of that you can flip the camera with R1 and it generally doesn't do a good job. Often it will flip into some useless angle, and hitting it again will most of the time never send you back to the view you just had. This is irritating when there is a viewable item/area you walk pass. You'll have to go into the investigate button to pan to it as these often pop only when you're super close. This is pretty much the only negative I have about this game. The style presented makes it forgivable, but it would have been nice to have a more free flowing camera system. Thing to know: This is no Telltale game. If you fuck up, there is no going back. The show goes on leaving you wondering what could have been. This def adds to the replay factor if you have that kind of time. Decisions are forced up on you to decide uncomfortably quickly. While it sucks at times, it really adds to the emotion it provokes out of you. I have several regrets already. I selected casual controls for this go around because it made it clear in the opening menu, if a character dies, the story doesn't stop. I didn't really want to miss out on 3rd of the flow chart.

I would definitely recommend getting and playing Detroit, such a fucking awesome game and it still remains my game of the year for 2018. One of the best character driven stories I've played in years. I really should play through it again so I can get the rest of the trophies.

I can't wait for this weird ass game. As I said last year, I think the coolest part of all this is Lindsay Wagner. I use to watch Bionic Woman on the Sci-Fi channel when I was a kid. Its neat to see these older performers be able to recapture their youth in gaming. They nailed her look.

    Sonic the Hedgehog

They should have never even made it. Its funny how they're trying to market to kids.... why? Sonic hasn't been relevant for 20 years, and the average kid probably couldn't tell you who Sonic is. No good sonic games are going to come out after this. You should have just appealed to the actually fanbase of Gen X... you know the ones that were kids when Sonic was as big as he ever got. I'm not saying movies like this should be geared solely for adults. They should be balanced like Marvel films, but instead we get them geared more heavily for children. G.I. Joe is a prime example. Literally no one born after 1988 had any connection to GI Joe. But to try to sell toys the movies were cheeseball fests. If they ever get the new He-Man film off the ground they'd be wise not to do the same. They just better never remake this... its perfect how it was.
