Akira live action film is back on with a slimmer budget.

Warner Brothers is continuing its effort for a live action Akira film. They have reduced the budget leaving many to question how they would tribute the anime's final scenes without laughable syfy channel movie CG. However, in the aftermath of this summer's box office cluster bomb, its hard to blame WB for cutting the once $180 million production price tag.

I read WB might sell this movie to Syfy and let them do it.

lmao.. j/k. That would be even worse. XD

With the budget they have now, we might be looking at a Super Mario Brothers quality of movie.

I don't think they can pull this off unless they can pull some little known good actors that will accept crap for pay, and still be able to muster enough of the budget for CG. Honestly, you only need CG for Tetsuo, The bike can be built, and sets could be made adequately. Its amazing how CG is more expensive than actual props now, and yet it cheapens the feel at times.

The issue really isn't the visual aspect, its if they will butcher the story and westernize it.

I remember having so many high expectations for the Super Mario Bros movie.. I kept thinking the gombas would be Yoda sized puppets and Bowser would be this awesome looking house sized godzilla monster.. and then I got my issue of Nintendo Power with pictures of the upcoming movie.. :crap:

Wow.. I now expect this Akira movie to look like Karate-Robo Zaborgar... look it up on netflix. lmfao. XD

Mentioning LaBeouf made me vomit. I don't understand why you'd shoot for below R. Its an R rated anime, and those of us who were introduced to anime through this film should be the target audience, We are all well into our 20-40s. We didn't have Toonami, and all the outlets kids have these days for anime, a lot of them wouldn't be able to tell you what Akira is... nothing in the story should really call for a young target audience. It will flop because you're gonna piss the fans off, and the people they are trying to target, have no clue wtf Akira is.

I think Akira would be a better Japanese made movie released in their theaters and then dubbed for blu ray release in the US. The CG wouldn't be nearly as good as a hollywood production, but at least it would resemble the actual anime.. like those Death Note live action movies.

Honestly that's the only way it should be made. The Japanese live-action films have been getting a lot better as of late. I've heard wonderful things about the live-action Kenshin movie (haven't watched it yet but I do have it downloaded, just waiting for the time to sit down and watch it) and though it changed the story slightly I though the Mushishi movie was well done. Honestly they'd stick to the story and not change crap like they plan for this pile of shit. Still trying to figure out why they wanted to make this in the first place especially if they're not planning at aiming it us, the old school fans that actually know what this movie is about.

I forgot all about that Kenshin movie, I'll have to get that.. and not to ruin your day.. aside from the Akira movie, James Cameron is still planning on making Battle Angel into a movie after he finishes Avatar 3.

With it being James Cameron, I'll assume he'll have a huge budget and the right CG to do the job.. but with that price tag, who knows what changes he'll make to the story to ensure a large enough target audience to make a profit.

Hollywood doesn't get it. They have to change everything. Thats why they threw a hissy fit when Microsoft put their foot down on the direction of a Halo movie, and thus one was never made, because MS told them to shove it with their crappy ideas on how they'd adapt the story to the big screen. Probably the best decision Microsoft ever made.

I was actually looking forward to the Battle Angel movie(s) since Cameron was the one doing them. Out of all the directors in Hollywood he'd be the only one to do them right. Sadly with it getting pushed back every six months I've lost hope in a BA movie ever getting made. Quite honestly there really is nothing he could screw up, I mean the author retconned the ending so he could make Last Order (and the ending he wanted to) and Cameron has 9 books to choose from for the movie (I honestly hope he chooses book three just for the motorball action). A few changes here and there wouldn't piss me off unless he decides to rewrite the whole damn story.

Sadly MS decided to make a TV series instead of a movie, wonder how that is going to turn out. That's why I like the deals Ubisoft made with Hollywood for their movies, they retain complete creative control for all title planned on being made into movies (Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, etc). Hollywood had no choice in the matter and they actually caved (which surprised the hell out of me).

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
