Professional testers will test exactly what the company wants them to test, hence why they use them. Plus they use an extremely rigid template as to what can be considered a bug, something your everyday average joe has no idea about. Open betas are the way to go but sadly companies want a true test, not just 1 million+ people to send them random reports about what they think is a bug (to be considered a bug in a professional setting the tester must be able to provide proof  the bug exists and proof that said bug can be replicated, something not all open testers are willing to do). This is the reason there is a game tester job in most companies, they want a professional tester who's done this more then a few times to test and find these bugs. Open betas these days are used more as server stress tests then anything else hence why you only see open testing in the last 1-2 months before the game is released. The things you learn when you go to school for this.

I'm with DX. I'm not really looking for a mind blowing experience. What I'm looking for is just to see if they are going to be giving us some of the stuff they promised on launch or not (like the public events) and I want to get my hands on each of the classes so I can learn how each plays and what one I like the most. Outside of that I'm already sold on everything else.

As far as I know Shia is done with the movies now. I believe he was only contracted to do the first three thats why Marky Mark is in this one. Plus I'm sure there will be some sort of recap at the beginning of this movie since it's supposed to take place 4 years after that horrible 3rd movie.

I'm going to try to list anything accessible to you, new and/ old across different genres, Strider.

Meshuggah - start with Obzen, then Catch 33 (this entire album is based on 1 primary riff), Nothing, Destroy Erase Improve, Chaosphere, Koloss, Contradictions Collapse. Meshuggah is the best 'djent' band around, hands down. Bands try to ape their style, every djent band is influenced by them and they're always 2 steps ahead of the game. Good time changes and very technical.

Immolation - Failures For Gods, Here In After, Close To A World Below, Dawn Of Possession.

Fear Factory - Soul Of A New Machine, Obsolete, Demanufacture.

    Satyricon - Nemesis Divina.

Summoning - Dol Guldur, Stronghold, Oath Bound.

Suffocation - Pierced From Within, Despise The Sun, Human Waste, Effigy of The Forgotten.

Skepticism - Lead and Aether, Stormcrowfleet.

Deeds of Flesh - Portals To Canaan.

Disgorge (California) - Consume The Forsaken, She Lay Gutted.

Morbid Angel - Formulas Fatal To The Flesh, Gateways To Annihilation, Covenant.

Emperor - Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk, IX Equilibrium, In The Nightside Eclipse.

    Numinous - Numinous.

    Devourment - 1.3.8

Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God, MoRT.

Darkened Nocurn Slaughtercult - Nocturnal March, Necrovision.

Shape Of Despair - Shades Of...

Evoken - Quietus, Antithesis Of Light, Embrace The Emptiness.

My Dying Bride - As The Flower Withers, The Dreadful Hours, The Light At The End Of The World, Turn Loose The Swans, A Map Of All Our Failures.

    Wormed - Exodromos, Planisphaerium, Quasineutrality.

Ulcerate - Everything Is Fire, The Destroyers Of All, Of Fractures And Failure.

Defeated Sanity - Passages Into Deformity.

Gorguts - everything, start with From Wisdom To Hate.

    Katatonia - first 7 albums.

    Bolzer - Aura.

Deathspell Omega - Paracletus, Drought, Fas, Kenose.

Anathema - Judgement, A Natural Disaster, We're Here Because We're Here.

Alcest - first 3 albums and Les Discretes (the band) is better so check them out too.

    Amorphis - Tales.

Carcass - Tools Of The Trade.

Birdflesh - Night Of The Ultimate Mosh.

Vader - De Profundis, Litany, Revelations.

Sinister - Cross The Styx, Diabolical Summoning, Hate, Afterburner.

    Cryptopsy - first 4.

    Monstrosity - first 2.

Nile - Among, Black Seeds, Annihilation.

This isn't the basic stuff, it's just something off the top of my head and should give you some time to go through, plus depending on what you like/ don't like, I can throw in more recommendations specific to that sort of style/ genre/ whatever. There's much more. Thing is, like anime or movies, there's a lot out there but it's key to skip the bad stuff cos you don't want to waste your time with it.

Recommending music has never been my forte, mostly because people don't like the same music I like since I tend to listen to the darker shit out there (huge Death Metal Fan but I listen to just about anything as long as it's not country or rap (I make an exception for Eminem)).

That said lately I've been listening to a lot of Korn, Rob Zombie, Scar the Martyr, In Flames, Lacuna Coil (my all time favorite band), Five Finger Death Punch, Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse (like I said, darker shit), old school Godsmack (don't like their new stuff), Staind, oddly enough Daft Punk, Eminem, and a few other bands. I highly recommend any of the bands I did mention, the ones you haven't heard of check out on Youtube (I will warn Cannibal Corpse is not for everyone, I blame my friend for getting me into them). I'm sure they might have one or two songs you might like.

I do listen to a lot of anime soundtracks (and j-rock) but those are really hard to recommend, especially since it usually takes watching to show to determine whether you'll like the song or not (plus I have so many anime soundtracks on my harddrive I'd have no idea where to start recommending (though any Macross soundtrack is worth listening too, they always have great music (especially 7 and Frontier)).

I just watched this on netflix and thought it was a lot of fun. I remember seeing complaints on the slow-mo somewhere.. but really it only happens in the first 1/5 of the film and the last scene... Its better than the Stallone version, but its not something thats gonna blow you mind... Its worth watching.

That's the problem, they're running a Linux based OS which games are usually not developed for (for the most part, I know now-a-days it's becoming a little more popular but still). You're shooting for a niche market, I honestly don't know what they're thinking. At this rate they'll never make the money they want nor do I even think they'll make the money back in the long run (you know they're paying the people they're outsourcing this too a pretty penny). Don't honestly know where Valve is going with this.

Level 5 wont make a Dark Cloud 3 because they dont think there is a lot of interest in it. There are many beloved games that are abandoned because now the gaming industry just focuses on home run hits... a game can't just sell well, it has to be a Triple A blockbuster money maker. It really hurts the variety we have to choose from. The industry might have plateaued, but I hold hope with some of the titles coming out this year.

Meanwhile the indy sector is booming... the mainstream is starting to take notice.

Blasphemy! FFIX was a rare gem and I loved the story completely. Yes I'm a little blinded by the fact that it's what cemented my love for the FF series (and it was the first one I ever played), sue me. I do agree on 12 though. What little I played of it I wasn't overly impressed (and I mean little, I don't think I'm even 5 hours into it yet (and if I am then it was a real disappointment)). The battle system was quite lovely though, one of the few battle systems I've liked in recent years. Quite honestly I never could see why VII is lauded as the best FF game in the series. The story was meh and the characters were all pretty disappointing and bland (with the exception of Cid and Vincent, really liked those two). True I've never beaten it (on the final fight) but I just really can't see why it was so amazing.

Will I be booed out for saying I've only played MGS2 (and boy what a disappointment it was after the first mission)? I played the demo of MGS and liked it but never did get around to actually buying it and playing it (though I've seen it completely through, one of my old roommates went through and MGS marathon and played 1, 2, and 3 all back to back). MGS4 never really interested me and I didn't have a PS3 so i could never play it. I must say though I'm thinking of buying MGS5 once it comes out and I get my PS4, looks freaking amazing.

As much as I don't want FFXV to bomb I agree with DX, it just might be what Square needs to finally make them see they need to rethink the whole RPG thing. I'd also like to see COD bomb big time, they really need to rethink how they make those games. I've heard nothing but bad things about Ghosts and yet it's still being praised. Really starting to think the game industry has finally plateaued.

Everyone wants a VII remake in HD which quite honestly I'd pass on, didn't really enjoy the game the first time around (let the flames of war begin now).

I'm kinda mixed with Square-Enix right now. I like FFXIV: ARR but knowing the fucked the pooch so bad on it the first time around has me worrying quite a bit about FFXV. Not only was the game pushed back by 3 or so years they retooled it for next gen and it worries me that it just won't deliver. Not to mention the debacle with the XIII games. I have yet to play XIII (own it, just haven't gotten around to playing it) but what I saw of it while my roommate played it made me feel that they're really dumbing the series down (took no thought what-so-ever to actually play) but the story was quite awesome (imo, plus the soundtrack was pure bliss). I think Square-Enix just needs to take a break from RPGs for awhile, they're really starting to get bland. Hint guys: Blitzball (come on random Square-Enix lurkers, look at our site to get this idea). I swear you'll make billions just on it alone. Hell Sledge I'd probably lock myself in my room and play it for days straight if they made one

I'd take an HD remake of COD4 with servers. God I miss that game so much, it was so much fun before the modders and hackers took it over. You have to give it to Kojima, he likes to think outside of the box and push the envelope as much as he can. One of the main reasons I've always thought he's one of the best game designers is the business right now (if not the best). Sadly I wish he'd give us a new Z.O.E. title, I so want another one. Damn you ZOE HD remake and not selling well, now Kojima won't give Strider another ZOE game

Hmmm... Can I have a Call of Duty 4-2: Modern Warfare? Actually, don't mess with the gameplay, just give me an HD remix with servers.

Strider nailed it. Bungie and Respawn are throwing out a new product. Ubisoft is probably producing the most unique titles in The Division and Watch Dogs... Even Drive Club looks highly innovative for the racing genre.

When it comes to Sequels at least MGSV is bringing something radically different to the MGS universe in the form of sandbox gameplay. inFAMOUS: Second Son is pushing the limits of the sandbox with insane new powers and abilities you can swap between.

I never was a fan of turn based RPGs, so I don't have anything invested in Square... I'd be hard pressed to tell you a game I've played made by them... but it seems they've taken the COD route of lets just cookie cutter some games together with the FF or KH labels while our die hard fans wait and hope for some real sequels that we might make 3 console generations from now...

Even more funny how they will make a X-2 or a -2 of anything except VII which is what everyone wanted in the first place.

So they're wanting to take the same route with XIII if the demand is high enough? Why does Square-Enix insist on shooting themselves in the foot with sequels? Starting to really think they have no idea what to do anymore. Sad thing is though sequels are what is sustaining the game market at the moment since everyone is to afraid to start a completely new IP (the exception here being Bungie and a few other developers).

Sadly I don't remember X-2 being any good (I know I didn't beat it but from what I remember it was a real let down, then again so was X after that one certain point in the story). Give the fans what they really want, a game completely devoted to Blitzball. I'd buy that game in a hurry if it was ever produced.

I'm going to assume similar, there will always be differences but now that console hardware is starting to get closer and closer to high end computer specs it'll be hard to tell. I can't go into much due to the NDR from the closed beta but graphics wise the current version of the beta looks exactly like Skyrim from what I could tell with a 3 year old laptop and a non-functional graphics card (using my on-board as my Radeon was disabled due to blue screen errors, which is now fixed (the on board runs at about a quarter of the specs of my Radeon)). Mind you this would be stock Skyrim, not modded Skyrim with all those fancy HD texture packs. Of course running it at as low as I had too it could look much better, won't know until I get another invite for the next beta weekend (if I do).

Wow that's a lot later then I expected. Hmmm, now do I still go through and buy my PS4 when I originally planned to (sometime in March) or do I wait till right before Destiny comes out? I'll definitely have to think that through (though I most likely will buy it earlier, only because I want Watchdogs).

Today Bungie posted an "Everything You Need to Know about the Beta". There is also a possibility that Beta progress could transfer over to the retail product... Bungie wouldn't say that it definitely will not, but won't commit on that it will. For more read the VG247 article below:

Caught my interest, in fact I downloaded it today. Will most likely watch it tonight or tomorrow night. I agree with DX though, Funimation makes the worst trailers I've seen out of any company. On the MAL page for the movie its stated there is a year between both children, Yuki being born in the winter and Ame being born a year later during the spring.

I just finished getting caught up on the show last night and I have to say I love this show. Has so much potential, I just hope Fox doesn't pull a Firefly here and cancel it because this show is awesome.

Have to say I was rather surprised by how low tech some of the weapons are. You'd think with synthetics around they'd be sporting much more powerful weapons then just your average, everyday guns. The tech they use though is pretty amazing. Like the spray mask that screws with cameras, was a rather nice touch. The one thing that sells me on this show though is the interactions between Dorian and John. On one hand you have a synthetic that was made to act and emulate like a human that is also trying to learn what it is to be human and you have a damaged cop who's basically relearning who he is (the first episode basically answers why he's relearning). Just my take on the premise of the show. Their banter is priceless (Dorian cracks me up, especially with the whole online dating profile thing. Damn near lost it when he did that).

Out of all the synthetics the only ones that appear and act human are Dorian (DRN) and those sexbots from episode 2. The MX series AI is just to robotic to emulate a human, then again they were made to be just like that (no emotion, just logic based programming (acting a lot like Spock)). AI like Dorian's is far off but honestly it'd be amazing and creepy at the same time to meet something so human but know it's actually a synthetic emulating human behavior. If that happens we might just be living in a GitS universe (which would be totally awesome).

Season 2 isn't too bad but it was nowhere near as good as Season 1. Plus to really understand what's happening in Season 2 you need to watch The Black Contractor, the 4 ep OVA that spans the time between the two series. It explains why certain things are happening in Season 2. Wish it would of aired before Season 2, would of helped me understand everything a little better.

I've gotten roughly 12 kills with the damn gun and only when an enemy is almost right on top of me, only seems to be effective at close to medium range. Only time I take out engineer now is if I die while defending a flag and the enemy brings in a tank so I respawn and rain unholy hell on them with the RPG.

I've gotten one Airburst kill since watching that video. Was camping the roof on Flag C (or should i say defending) and watching the carnage at Flag B when a sniper decided to take pop shots at me from the rubble so I decided to try it out. He hid behind a ruined wall so I locked onto the wall and did as the video said and rained hell down on him (only to be killed by a bastard who snuck up on me. Kinda wish it took less the three shots to kill somebody though. 10 shots with it isn't all that much.
