  1. I finished "Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet" on netflix last night. The first episode was some of the best mech anime I've ever seen. I wish the entire series was like the first episode. Then it turned into a 'slice-of-life' anime for about 7 episodes. -_-; After an unnerving loli dance scene in which every guy over 40 was drunk and wooing at 10 year old girls dancing I was done with it (seriously japan? is this what japanese men want? wtf.). But then I looked at the episode descriptions for the final episodes and I stuck with it. The final 3 eps were great and had good action. If you want to see some good mech battles, watch the first and last 3 or 4 eps of this series. All the episodes in between are just filler crap to establish some sense of loyalty between the mech pilot and the group of people on the gargantia. And of course to forge a typical anime relationship of: "i love this guy i just met and even tho we've only known each other for less than 2 weeks, you need to stay with us for life!"

Yona of the Dawn, Dimension W, Guilty Crown, and Death Parade... Funi has a 14 day free trial going right now, get in and cram. XD Its really hard to find anime that stays away from the pervert stuff. Some mix it in to where its funny when it rarely happens, but to find an anime that doesn't have it at all anymore is pretty much impossible. Although the four I mentioned are examples of it.

I like a ton of genres, but ill get burnt out on certain ones when I see too many of them back to back. After watching a bunch of serious bad ass animes, I just finished Ben-To which was a riot since I work in grocery retail. It's not too far from the truth how people are over discount food. XD

I rarely hit up netflix. They have the same T&A library for 5 years. I've caught a few I really like that Funi doesn't have like SOA, Blue Exorcist, Aldnoah.Zero, Death Note, and Gurren Lagann. Their "originals" have been hit or miss, but the ones I've liked, I look forward to second seasons of. I wish they'd take their anime fans more seriously. You can't get a really good demographic when you dont update the section but once every 6 months.

Funimation has come a long way since I first signed up. They're a lot like netflix now in how easy it is to browse. I remember when it never saved your progress on an ep, It didn't tell you what you've already watched, and the queue function was a joke. There was no organization at all. The app for the PS4 is outstanding. Now you can search by dub/sub, rating (TV-14, TV-MA), genre, consumer rating, and release year. There is even an recently updated tab, to sort out shows and eps to shows they recently added. For me this is useful to tell when they've finally dubbed something I've been waiting on.

Funi's setup does sound alot better now. I just don't know if I have enough fandom for anime anymore to get a streaming service for it now. I want to watch Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and I might download the subs for it. I just looked it up to see if it'll be on funi or not and I'm shocked to see Amazon Prime Instant Video has the license and will be adapting it to english. wtf. I don't have amazon prime atm but I had no idea they were dubbing anime like netflix exclusives. I can justify getting an amazon prime membership tho for the shipping. If they're streaming has anime then maybe their selection is superior to netflix.

I've been downloading Kabaneri but haven't actually started watching it (it was one of three shows airing this season that interested me, the other two being Macross Delta and Flying Witch (Flying Witch is an amazing show but it is slice of life so I don't know if you'd like it or not)). I've become an anime watching prude over the last 5 years, I rarely watch anything currently airing anymore and I'm extremely picky about what I will watch (which is why I was surprised I liked Iron Blooded Orphans as much as I did, it has all the things I normally hate in a Gundam show (and in fact most anime) but for some reason it worked out extremely well).

Amazon has actually been buying up a lot of anime rights over the last 2 years so I'm not all that surprised they got the Kabaneri rights (besides 2 or 3 other shows their selection is more sparse then Netflix's). However, as much as I like the shipping on prime, I just can't justify paying for a prime membership. I hardly order anything off of Amazon (mostly music and movies, I hardly buy games through amazon) and most of the stuff they have on their streaming service doesn't interest me or I can watch it somewhere else.

I've had a friend try and convince me to get a Crunchyroll/Funimation subscription because he absolutely loves both but considering my anime watching tendencies I just don't see the reason to spend the money. I still download most of my anime (I won't give up my torrenting ways no matter how out of style it is) and the Funimation catalog doesn't interest me (I own, have downloaded, or have seen most of the stuff they have up that I'd watch). Plus I'm honestly not that big on streaming anything besides normal TV shows (which is most of what I watch on Netflix besides movies and documentaries).
