Easily the best Superman film ever made. Superman Returns was very mediocre, and Reeves films suffered from special effects of the time, and they're just plain cheesy.

Man of Steel lacks cheese, doesn't waste time with "rebooting" origins, and the fight sequences are in another league from any of the Marvel movies... Nolan should be in charge of all Superhero films XD

The movie is around 2 hours in 30 minutes... but it seemed more like 90 minutes... This movie is fun and is the only movie to put Superman's strength on full display... Let us hope that Lex Luthor is never the main antagonist ever again....

Nolan's involvement in the next one is going to be significantly less, though he's confirmed to be on board. The big difference he's made to a Snyder movie is make sure it isn't marred with ANY slow motion sequences. I'll post my full review from home after work. The movie has a lot of flaws and is enjoyable as well.

The bad -

Zod being beaten by

Jor-El, wasn't he supposed to be a badass ... funny how he later tells Superman how he's a military guy with immense training, etc. but he can't beat a meager scientist.

Tacky CG during that

oil-rig rescue and Sups is OK with stealing from people huh

... after all that moral talk from his Dad.

Superman and Lois

kiss scene kinda felt flat ... their 5 min encounter sorta didn't warrant it, or how close they stood when Superman was surrendering to Zod.

The way Jonathan

dies, although there's little merit to why he did it, it was still dumb

. Part of me argues he's trying to protect Clark from being discovered (because the world isn't ready for it) and it's a big moment when

he sacrifices himself. I think that scene was weird ... why allow an old 55/60 year old guy run towards a tornado when a healthier young Clark could do it better/ quicker. He isn't a kid at that point of the story. Maybe the scene's written badly, I dunno ... did he die this way in the comic?

One of the better moments of Superman Returns was Superman's vulnerability when he throws that island in space and falls to Earth after using up all his energy. It sort of felt natural. I didn't see that sort of vulnerability or threat against Superman in MOS, the closest was when he

was on Zod's ship or battling the World Engine

... he did yell though? :schierke:

Morpheus is Perry White.

The good -

Faora vs Col Hardy ... and Faora in general, what a bloody badass she was, she deserves a movie of her own like a spin-off series :farnese:. Her fight sequence on the ground against those troops was a lotta fun to watch.

All fight sequences were awesome, pretty much top 5 among superhero movies. Didn't look over-the-top or unbelievable and wasn't laced with dumb slo-mo sequences (Thanks Johnstantine, phew). Even the Superman-Zod fight was just fantastic to watch.

Krypton's destruction

looked cool.

I didn't like this scene because he basically lifted an island size chunk of kryptonite with no sign of weakness until after he got rid of it... historically, kryptnoite almost always immediately sapped Superman's powers and made him really weak.

Of course I always thought that was stupid to... I felt that Kryptonite should have just reduced him to no different than an earthling as he would have been on Krypton, instead of someone that could barely move... but I guess that wouldn't be dramatic enough.

Not to forget, he just got stabbed by Kryptonite right before that scene. Before he lifts the island, he goes into space to get some Sun in him and dives deep under the island. One can argue there was enough rock or soil or whatever it was between him and Kryptonite but I think there were chunks bloody near him too. So it's an iffy. What I meant by that remark was how you see his character broken down by a true threat and a threat that didn't last 15 seconds. It was elaborate. With Man Of Steel, there was very very little threat to him. In a way, you don't get a feeling of Superman being over-powered.

In a way, I think Superman fans were tired of him not being overpowered, because as a superhero, he is overpowered... And you have those people that hate Superman because they feel he is too powerful. Zod was a brute, If we can finally have Brainiac in a film, I think he will definitely bring Superman to his knees. Perhaps this is why Batman is in the next film? Superman will need Bruce Wayne's ingenuity to overcome such a villain.

Faora was super hot, I do agree. :P

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
