Playstation 4 Will Have 50% More Raw Graphical Power Than Xbox One

After doing a comparison of the PS4 and Xbox One’s GPUs, Eurogamer is reporting that the PlayStation 4 possesses 50% more raw power in graphics than the newly revealed Xbox One.

Eurogamer went into quite a bit of detail, but for a quick look, I quoted the main part here:

In terms of the GPU hardware, hard information was difficult to come by, but one of the engineers did let slip with a significant stat - 768 operations per clock. We know that both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are based on Radeon GCN architecture and we also know that each compute unit is capable of 64 operations per clock. So, again through a process of extrapolation from the drip-feed of hard facts, the make-up of the One's GPU is confirmed - 12 compute units each capable of 64 ops/clock gives us the 768 total revealed by Microsoft and thus, by extension, the 1.2 teraflop graphics core. So that's another tick on the Durango leaked spec that has been transposed across to the final Xbox One architecture and the proof we need that PlayStation 4's 18 CU graphics core has 50 per cent more raw power than the GPU in the new Microsoft console. Now, bearing in mind that we fully expect PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to launch at similar price-points, how did this disparity come about?

Well... I'm fairly certain I'll be getting a PS4 over the new Xbox One now that I've seen this.

I think Microsoft was trying to compete more with Apple than with Sony..

Instead of focusing on Apple TV as a rival to their home entertainment long term goals, they should have focused more on their real competitor and built a machine stronger in the one thing (GPU) that is holding all the current gen consoles back.

Nintendo got too cute and look at them.. the Wii was a hardware success and a software disaster... and it carried over to the Wii U. Gamers want games.... Xbox might be trying to do too much.... You really can't rely on COD to carry your console. Bungie showing up to both of Sony's pressers and being absent at MS's event speaks volumes. If DICE shows that PS will be getting everything first for BF4 AND support 64 player battles... I might be sold... because I'd assume that DICE's Battlefront game will have the same thing.

Thats the one big thing I'm really looking forward to at E3.. If Dice announces 64 player BF4 on next gen consoles and if it will be the same game on consoles as it is on PCs, then that would be huge news to me. I already know I won't bother getting BF4 on PS3, that game will be the first next gen game I buy when I can afford a new console.

One of my brothers has already decided to get a PS4 over a month ago.. as it is now, I'll have to get one just to have someone to play BF4 with.

We'll all have PS4... I'll have to show you why my PC BF name is C4atTheDoor XD.. I hope a freakin' Mic is included this time around... Even thought I'll probably invest in some wicked Turtle Beaches... the COD experience is amazing with some Turtles.. I dunno if I could ever use the TV speakers again.

We'd be a great squad. :D I never spoke to anyone on BF3 on the mic because so many people didn't bother using it compared to CoD. Even so, I'd still get random friend requests from other players. I have about 4 people that will join my squad or I'll join their squad if I see them on and we've never spoken and I have no idea who they are. XD

Yeah... people dont play the objective as much as they should. generally when other players find people like us that do, they want to friend them XD. On Xbox the squad match making is messed up to where its always just me and a friend.. hardly anyone ever joins our squad.. so our 2 man team will get ace squad most of the time... its pretty funny and pathetic at the same time... I think I have 2-3 Ace Squad medals.

I noticed that once me and my brothers all had matching clan tags displayed on our names, usually someone would jump in and fill that last spot on our squad just to get the ace squad medals.. someone would always join our squad. We usually never locked our squad, so we almost always had some guy jump in unannounced. I'd say to my brother: "I'm coming to revive you!", He says hes not dead.. turns out I was helping out the newb guy half the time and never noticed his name. lol. Oh well, if hes on my squad I'll help him out. ^_^

Debating which console's guts are more powerful is "a pointless argument," says one Xbox executive, "because people are debating things which they don't know about." By and large, he's right. He then went on to tout his console's innards.

They [sony] actually go out and they talk about how proud they are about their off-the-shelf parts," Albert Penello, the chief of product planning for Xbox, told Official Xbox Magazine. "Our guys'll say, we touched every single component in the box and everything there is tweaked for optimum performance."

Its a good thing MS optimized everything in the Xbox One.. I'm sure Sony just threw a crap load of parts into the PS4 and assumed it would work good. ;)

I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
