I actually got it from either reaching Vanguard Rank 2 or from the Public Event. I was given an engram and for once I didn't get a damn scout rifle I already had . Oh yeah, it almost looked like we broke the game because we ran that final showdown flawlessly. Hopefully we have some off days when Queen's Wrath starts. I want to get some Legendary gear.

FYI Strider check this out. I joined Dead Orbit today, I'm gonna try to grind my way to level 3 tomorrow. http://tay.kotaku.com/a-guide-to-obtaining-and-upgrading-legendary-gear-in-de-1636451289/+tinaamini

After accompanying you both on your first trip to Mars, I now want to do that with every friend that gets the game just to get the reaction when the big doors open and the Cabal start raining rockets into the bunker.

    A few notes.

After playing with Sledge today, I've given up on rocket launchers. They were good for Earth and the Moon, but the Cabal elites can completely side step them. The heavy machine guns are far more affective. Rocket Launchers are probably more suited for Crucible.

I assume the same will go for hand cannons... they wont be as good in crucible, so I kept my scout and pulse rifles, along with my blue shotgun. Hand Cannons are the best in PvE... there really isn't anything better, even if you don't have precision. I was popping Shield Cabal in the knee and getting in instant head shot every time, but for every other non elite type its 2-3 shots and they are done if you miss the head.

The Cabal are the best for farming outside of the moon mission. Unlike the other races, they instantly replenish reinforcements. I was taken aback when I cleared out a pretty heavily armed squad only to be faced with a drop ship immediately appearing and dropping more Cabal off at the location I was at. They also spawn yellow bar and arch shielded yellow bars more than anyone. This has lead me to believe why you don't see the Mars bounties at all. I haven't seen a Kill 10 Cabal Majors or Ultras yet. The Fallen and Hive give you some breathing room when you wipe them out.... in fact, sometimes they wont even appear until you leave the area... not the Cabal... once you wipe them, here comes a drop ship firing rockets at you and dropping more troops. I love this game's AI so much. The four races are so different, yet each pose a different challenge.

The Vex are a bitch on Mars. I can't recall the name of them, but they are basically arc shielded yellow bar minotaurs. Outside of that I love the Vex because they tend to drop the most engrams. Plus their strike missions were fun... unlike the Moon which was pure hell from the very first room full of Sword Knights and Wizards.

After playing this game for 30-40+ hours, I love/hate the fact that area damage is completely useless. My grenades and titan smash move have timed area damage effects... completely useless in PvE. Even the lowly Thrall know better than to walk up into the damage field. They either back up and change course or wait for the effects to stop and then attack. It makes the attribute almost useless, but at the same time shows you that you aren't fighting a bunch of dumbass NPCs.

Public Events may have been doubled, but the instances need to be fixed. I can manage a few PEs by myself, but the ones that require you to eliminate a target before it reaches the certain amount of check points is insane.... they have a kinetic shield that doesn't go down fast, and instantly replenishes if you manage to do so on your own. There are never more than 2-5 people at any public event that I have seen... thats all fine and dandy for the defense ones. With record breaking sales, I'd imagine I'd see a lot of people on patrol mode, but I don't. Its a let down from the huge Devil Walker public event they showed off at E3.

Heh, the soccer ball. Was a lot of fun to kick it around until someone kicked it into the stairs and it disappeared

I noticed you found yourself a blue hand cannon while I was on the website this morning. I just got myself a new auto rifle out of the Crucible this morning (along with my first piece of light gear, a blue helm). I'll have to hit that farming strategy up again tonight, tried it for awhile yesterday and only got greens and three blues to drop.

Gah, the end of story mission was pretty epic if I have to say so myself. Had me on the edge of my seat for the majority of it (but DX and I kicked some major ass). I'll say I was somewhat disappointed with how the story ended for now and I'm really hoping they'll be expanding on it in the upcoming expansions (which I still need to buy). After seeing the end of the story I can somewhat see where that theory carries a little weight. I won't go into details but I have to agree that we might just be the bad guys in this story. Just my hunch based on things said during cut scenes and the lore on some of the grimoire cards. Will be interesting to see what come next.

Hmmm by the looks of it they're on the right path for making a good game. Story seems to be somewhat interesting. Not too sure I'm hip on that combat system though, materializing weapons out of nowhere seems rather strange and I'm not him on the real-time aspect of it though. Hopefully there will be more game play footage soon to show the game off some more (and maybe explain the combat system).

I've noticed that too. Knights are throwing their healing shield up more often as well especially after taking a critical hit from a Sniper Rifle or a Rocket Launcher. Kinda glad they did this seeing as how they didn't dodge as much in Beta and made them feel like easy enemies to kill even though they're higher up the food chain.

I finally got a Sniper Rifle worth using before I got offline last night (the Gozen, same one we had when beta ended). Sadly it's the only green weapon I have and I still haven't had a chance to use it (I logged shortly after getting it). I've been seeing a lot of people with blue gear running around on the Tower at levels 15 and above so we probably won't be seeing any of the good stuff till around then (sadly, hoping that Devil's Lair will have something good).

Also, is it me or is this game just a little to freaking easy when it comes to leveling? I ran into a level 23 while I was grinding out a level on Earth last night and I've heard from those random streams I've watched that there are already people who have maxed out there levels and I believe they've also maxed out how far you can go with the Mote of Light level up option. This worries me a little as if it's this easy to hit max level with a days worth of playing what the hell do we have to look forward to until the expansion stuff comes out? I understand Vault of Glass is supposed to keep us busy for hours on end but it's only a matter of time before a group gets through it and posts walkthroughs online making it easier for the rest of us to get through it (well if we can find a group of like minded individuals to get through it, going to be hard to find additional people to take this on). I honestly don't want to get stuck in the old MMO formula of grinding out instances for better gear only to sit on my hands until something newer and better comes out and I really don't want to get stuck doing Crucible for something to do until we get those newer options.

On a side note we should really put a clan together in game so we can represent. Was thinking about it last night while surfing the Bungie site (plus there are a few trophies linked to doing Strikes and Raids as an entire clan group). Just something to think about.

Esports isn't helping the case any that's for sure but this problem has been around since it became a thing like DX said. I remember the days before Xbox Party Chat, good god I hated every minute of being in the normal game chat mode since I used to play COD4 with a group of classmates all the time. When Party Chat was implemented I thought it was one of the best things ever since I no longer had to listen to the 12 year old boys saying I was a 40 year old virgin living in my parents basement raping little boys (yes I actually did have a kid say this to me because I wiped the floor with him in a COD match. Not my problem he sucks at checking his corners in a match that it's quite obvious that I'm wiping his team out with a shotgun by camping corners (yea I was a camper, even had the pro-perk that gave me a fire and tent (inside joke)).

I quit going to GameSpot to read gaming news because of all the political crap they go into now and I'm getting quite sick of seeing it on VG247. All I want is news on games, coverage of game shows, and the occasional humor article that reminisces about the good old days of gaming. I don't want political crap saying our "culture" is hateful. Yes there are a lot of bad eggs in our community but sadly it's the same way with any hobby you get into now-a-days. There will always be elitists pricks who think they're better then you, their favorite sports team is the best, and so on and so forth but we're not all like that. A good 60% of gamers these days are in their 20's and 30's, we're all pretty mature people who want to play games as an escape from reality. Don't lump us in with the rest that use it as a status symbol (a very bad one at that).

Sadly it's just another way for the media to portray us as mean spirited people. The whole violent video games makes people kill others thing was enough, we really don't need this on top of it (even if we all know it's a load of bullshit).

Didn't you know Sledge all gamers are asshats. I thought this was general knowledge.

All kidding aside they need to realize that the majority of the problem comes from the games being played as well as the general age of the community. Most of the hate crap comes from the younger generation of gamers who think it's hip and cool (god I can't believe I said that) to be a complete dick to everyone. Games like COD perpetuate this because kids seem to think that high kill counts in matches equal skill and bragging rights. Sadly this mentality also carries into other games as these kids can't get it through there head that other games are not like COD where you can brag about stuff like that. Honestly if the industry would do away with games like COD you'd probably see a massive switch over to more pleasant gaming with our peers. Sadly our generation suffers mildly from this problem as well but the majority of us have grown up and moved on (I know I used to be quite the asshat back in my Halo and COD4 days).

FFXIV's community has been one of the most awesome communities I've been apart of in my years of gaming. Don't get me wrong there are asshats in this game as there are with any MMO but the majority of the players are pretty awesome people as they're always willing to help out in any way they can. It also helps that the game is centered around group activities as there is a lot of stuff in this game that requires you to group up. Honestly its been a long time since I've played a game with this friendly atmosphere (I never ran into this in SWTOR, mostly because I stick to myself and generally ignore others).

Yea I've been rather underwhelmed by the offerings for PS4. They need to actually get some better content on the console before offering stuff because I am rather sick of the indie titles. I might download Velocity but considering Destiny is less then 2 weeks away I don't see the point. The games that Xbox users are getting on the one are so much better.

Never did use the dagger, all about Rapid Fire and Sentries with homing rockets. Cut down most champions in seconds and most bosses in under a minute (could be faster but damn hatred runs out to damn fast with Rapid Fire (even with the decreased hatred use rune slotted in)). Was thinking of taking my Wizard up but I lost all interest in the game after that disappointing boss fight at the end. I was expecting so much more like I said.

That was one of my biggest disappointments as well. The skill tree was so intricate in D2 that is was fun tweaking shit just so you could get that extra bit a damage out of an ability (my Lightning Sorc was OP back in the day, sadly I never did get a chance to fully finish her gear set out and don't get my started on my Bone Nec. The things he could do still amaze me).

I'm sure there will be, but maybe not in Old Russia. That seems to be Fallen territory even though the Hive are lingering around... The Wizard seems to be the most powerful of the Hive we've seen so far and he only seems to be the equivalent of a Fallen Captain.... We've seen nothing from the Vex, or those that await us on Mars.

Because of my shit ass work schedule the only time I've been on at the same time as Strider is when I was downloading the beta. I have yet to play any game with him.... This is exactly why I took a whole week off for launch. I look forward to finally doing strike missions together with all 3 of us.

No codes even required now? Damn. I guess they really want to stress test the system then. Kind of makes pre-ordering for beta access a bit pointless now too. hmm.

I got my last couple videos up!

Here is the purple ball Strider found in the tower:

We played the Devil's Lair strike on the highest difficulty and this is how the fight with the Devil Walker went down.

We found a crazy difficult horde of enemies yesterday and after looking at this video again, I see that beneath the names of the enemies that killed me it says "Hidden Swarm". The waves of enemies in this horde was intense:

Wow that sniper rifle is huge! Thanks for getting those pics of it. I couldn't tell it was that big while holding it. Only 3 ammo for it at a time sucks, but damn that gun is a beast.

I got some good video clips saved of our adventure tonight. I'll have to post the last 3 tomorrow because I can't stay awake long enough to see the upload finish. But heres the clip of us team killing each other and me setting my sparrow for self destruct.

I don't think the Moon mission will become available. I clicked on it earlier today only to get a message saying something about waiting for 9/9 for the full release. Unless they plan on opening it up last minute for people to play I don't think we'll get to see it.

As far as I could tell last night when I got on nothing changed. Unless they added something for max level players I think the downtime was for server tests and probably getting everything ready for the Microsoft side of the test since it also went live yesterday due to there early finish.

edit: There doesn't seem to be anything new added to the beta. Hit 8 this morning and there was no new stuff to do unless they're adding stuff to the Crucible (which I haven't been doing anything with). I'll be on tonight myself. I'll watch my PSN app to see when you get on if I'm not on at that time. Might be leveling my Titan.

I also have 3 PS4 codes and a PS3 code for the beta so if anyone is interested let me know. None of my friends own a PS4 beside you crazy people so I've got an abundance.

I re-watched the end of ep 3 and actually I think that's the original Sukar. Right before they pan to him sitting his apparently dead corpse starts breathing again and blinks. I could be wrong but that's what it looks like so if she's not making clones she's making something else. Either this metal crap is re-wiring them to follow Irzu's commands (as seen by that Casti chick going after the Casti kid) or something bigger is going on.

If that was her parents then why were they on that ship because it that's the ship under Defiance then they were in an extremely powerful warship if everything we been told so far is true. Everything they've told us and the way Yewll was acting last season makes me think this won't end well if that ship is ever recovered.

I also finally did get around to watching last weeks episode and I have to say I'm quite happy to see Datak get the snot kicked out of him. Such a cocky bastard but Stahma is going to regret letting him live. He might not currently have a crew but with what happened to Rafe I can see him joining up to help retake the town now.

This season is really starting to get good. I don't want to get my hopes up (like I did with Almost Human) but if keeps along these lines I can definitely see another season getting greenlit.

This. Bungie stayed professional about losing all the rights to the IP they created. They parted ways without being nasty publicly. But if you read the articles at that time, everyone could see they got screwed hard. Sony swooped in, embraced them and it has paid off. It was a golden opportunity to finally have access to the company that revolutionized FPS. Bungie even had part in PS4's controller design, which means they were given unprecedented access to Sony's stuff in regards to next gen. Bungie felt the love and is returning it while Xbox One and 360 is just a cash cow for them as of right now.

It reminds me of Nintendo and Rare back in the 90s. I understand why MS did what they did... but they didn't go about doing it the right way. They were mad that Bungie wanted to go 3rd party, so they intentionally tried to hurt them. The fans have to suffer, but they should be blaming MS, not Bungie... they're too caught up in the fanboyism of it all.

F'in whiners. I hope they realize that outside of the money Sony threw at Activision to get the special treatment for Destiny that Bungie is probably doing this as a slam in Microsoft's face for the way they treated them during their time developing Halo for them. Honestly MS screwed Bungie by taking the rights to Halo as part of the deal for them to leave but Destiny is already a much better game then Halo ever was (don't get me wrong I love the Halo series but honestly giving the game to 343 was, imo, the worst thing they could of done for the series) and I'm happy Sony is get preferential treatment with it. Make me even happier that I bought a PS4.

I still refuse to upgrade to Windows 8. My friends has been harping me to do it because "it's so much better then 7." Yea, I'll pass thank you. Sadly this is what happens when you take an OS designed to be used by tablets and try and re-purpose it for use as a desktop OS.

So if the leak is true apparently this is releasing on the 15th of this month. Am I the only one thinking this is a bad move since the Destiny beta starts up for PS3/4 users on the 17th and the 360/One users a few days after? I know they have a huge fan base for this game but honestly do you think those of us in the Destiny beta are going to drop that to come play a DLC that I honestly think should of been released last month.

Hmmm, definitely an interesting start to the season with those two eps (yea I'm slow, lot of crap going on).

I'm happy to see Stahma finally grew a pair (persay) and has finally shown us her true colors. I really wish we would of seen more of it last season but I'm really happy to see it now. I really want to know where this Irisa story is going because this random killing people for no apparent reason is confusing the crap out of me. Quite honestly I'm surprised Nolan was offered his job back considering his past. I just wonder how Tommy is going to take it when he finds out (seems to really like his new job, would hate for him to lose it even if he isn't the right man for the job).

I'm also extremely happy to see Datak in jail. I really don't like him and hope something bad happens to him on the inside.

I'm assuming level cap for Beta will be 20 as all the Legendary gear in Alpha was level 20. Just an assumption and I'm assuming it'll be between 20 - 50 for retail (as most MMO's usually cap at 50 (some rare ones don't)).

Character slot wise I'm going to guess 3 slots, one for each character class as you really can't specialize your characters to do one thing in this game like you can in most MMO's (I mean you can swap abilities in the tree at will). Plus honestly there really is no reason to go beyond 3 slots, anymore and thats just ridiculous (who needs more then one Titan, Hunter, or Warlock at any given time).

I'm going out on a limb here by saying I doubt there will be no more new classes until the 3rd or 4th DLC. I'm assuming the first two will add more Strikes and probably more planets as it seems like only the Moon and Mars will be in retail besides Earth (this is just speculation, I'd honestly be really surprised if Venus and Mercury were added into retail). Most likely they'll also contain new multiplayer maps/modes and probably new armor sets and weapons. Who knows what Bungie and Activision have planned for this game, I mean this is the only game Bungie is developing for them atm and they plan on keeping it going for a long while by the sounds of it.

Interesting app, I'll have to check it out when it's released.

Heh, after watching that vid it cemented my love for the Hunter even more. As I said before I'll be rolling a Titan out for Beta just to see how they play (who knows, might like it even more then the Hunter). I have the entire last week of July off (vacation, yay!) so I'll be fiddling with all three classes extensively during the beta and making my final decision for what I'll play on release. I would take release week off but due to inventory for the store being during that time I can't (plus I'm already taking two days off over the 18th and 19th of September to go the FFDP concert in Bismarck). Hopefully I'll have a new job by release anyways so I can have a more flexible schedule to play this with you guys (and hopefully get my ass off these night shifts, they're slowly killing me).
