  1. Bestbuy and Amazon had some good deals on movies yesterday. Got 9 recent releases on blu ray for about $50. And I got a 4tb western digital external hard drive from bestbuy for $79.

      Now that we have an amazon facility in our city. I think I've started experiencing what you have in the lack of 2 day delivery. Before it opened everything was sent to me via UPS and sometimes FedEx. Now it goes to the USPS from the facility, and my package that was supposed to come yesterday, was "delayed" once reaching the USPS... even though they got it at 8am. -_-;

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Yep. If any package is small enough to fit in your mail box it'll be finished by USPS and 70% of the time it'll be delayed. Although most of the time when my packages get delayed it'll be because Amazon literally doesn't start the shipping process until a day after I order. I'll get a text message that it's shipped, get a tracking number, etc. But I'll check that tracking number 24 hours later and it'll still say "package shipping information received" but nothing about ups getting the package to ship for an entire day.

I'm supposed to get 2 packages delivered via USPS today but tracking says they got the packages at 5:50 am, but it's already 8 something this morning and it still doesn't say "out for delivery" I can pretty much guarantee they'll hold that package for another day at this point. Amazon prime has been losing its appeal to me for a while now. I don't think I'll renew it again next August at this point.

  2. My PC had an update and restart only option last night. I had no idea there was another 'creators update' for windows 10. It was the 'fall creators update'. Damn thing took over an hour to install and reset numerous times. And apparently I have a 'windows feature update' that I still have to do. I guess I should check my nvidia drivers and update them today too. I've been having some windows 10 crashes lately so hopefully this update will fix that.

  3. I've been watching this Comet channel nightly for the last couple weeks. I love this channel now. XD Its what syfy used to be. Its all scifi re-runs. I've been watching Andromeda, Stargate Atlantis and the 1995 Outer Limits series. Most of these shows are in SD, but adjusted to HD. Looks horrible up close but from a distance and while watching in bed its just like the old days. lol. And they have a whole bunch of b movies. XD  http://www.comettv.com/schedule/

  4. PSN is having a sale. I picked up the latest TWD telltale game and BF1 premium is finally on sale for $25. I got that to. I'll be playing some more bf1 over the next couple weeks. Some footage from the newest dlc is looking pretty good.

I still need to get on and play the new DLC. I got to try out some of the maps prior to its release because of Premium but never did get around to actually playing them now (I'm not looking forward to seeing the unlock requirements for the new guns though I want to get me hands on the Federov, makes medics extremely op now).

Using spears on horses looks brutal now. lol. I'll be playing a bunch this weekend to try it out.

  5. Holy crap I've been sick as hell for the last 4 days. Its a combo strep throat and flu. I've been off an on sick for the last month but this is kicking my ass on a whole new level.

Yeah the menthol burns like crazy, but damn it works. It reminds me of Listerine, and why I don't use any of that "no burn" stuff Crest and others make... it just doesn't feel like its working unless my gums feel like they are being bathed in acid and fire. XDXD

  6. My parents visited me over the weekend. Had a great time. :D I wish I lived in the same state as the rest of my family so I could see them all more often.

  7. RIP Tom Petty, you had some great hits.

  8. My mattress has been killing my back and sides for over a year now. I kept adjusting how I was sleeping, got a mattress pad, etc. Screw this thing. I bought a mattress in a box from walmart.com for cheap. $140. I thought about getting a memory foam one but I read that they trap heat too easily so I went with a Slumber 1 brand coil spring.

Sure as hell this mattress showed up in a box. It was vacummed sealed in a bag, folded and rolled up. When I broke that plastic seal it inflated so damn fast that it made a whistling noise thru the plastic bag as I was cutting it open. lol. It feels pretty comfortable so far but I have to let it air out for "full recovery" for 48 hours. I'd have rather gotten an expensive really nice beauty rest mattress or something else from a mattress store, but I'm tight on funds. This seems decent enough for now.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I've been sleeping on the same Sealy Posturepedic mattress for almost 20 years now. XD Its actually the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on for me. Anytime I'm in a hotel or another bed, its just not as good. Looking at the prices now they are $1000-1500 X_x I think I'll be keeping mine for as long as it lasts.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear that. Really good mattresses are super expensive. x_x A lot of mattress commercials make sense tho. We do spend about 1/3 or 1/4 of our entire lives laying on one, might as well make it a good one.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Fuck my old mattress was fucking amazing, sadly it went to hell in about 5 years (I spend a lot of time in my room since it's where everything of mine is located so you can about imagine how much time I spend on my bed (between gaming, watching anime/movies, reading, and up until recently playing games on the laptop)). Only mattress I was able to sleep soundly on (and it was only $500 or so) but I had to get rid of it two years ago because it was really starting to kill my back. My current one isn't bad (I went a little firmer than my old one, still comfy and still a pillow top but it's not the same) but I'd kill to get another mattress like my old one (don't remember what brand it was and we don't have similar mattress places like the one in Arizona where I bought it).

I'd really love one of those Sealy mattresses but fuck are they expensive. One of these days I'll have one

  9. Me and a buddy made some bulk sausage last night. It was a fun experience using a meat grinder for the first time. I have enough sausage in my freezer for almost a year now. Only cost about $20 for this amount. My friend bought way more pork butts than me and we made sausage for hours. Lol.

  10. I finished LoTR: The Fellowship of the Ring yesterday. Great novel, but if I ever read it again I'll skip the first 150 pages of hobbit only adventures. lol. After that chunk the book turned out to be great. And the fan theory about Gandalf telling them "fly you fools" as in get to the eagles is debunked to me. Theory:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/lord-of-the-rings-cast-major-fan-theory_us_561dca5fe4b028dd7ea5b392

In the novel the word 'fly' was used as the word run in multiple instances. It was just the writing style. I'm glad they kept that scene like that in the movie, but Gandalf had no secret meaning when he said that. He was simply telling them to run for their f*cking lives or they'd all die in Moria.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

All I have to say is Tom, you know what I mean (it's the only part of Fellowship I actually enjoyed outside of Moria, I really wish they would of put him in the movie). Everything else before the Council meeting could pretty much be left out (I could care less about how many meals a Hobbit has in a day or how a proper Hobbit should live). Don't get me wrong I love Tolkien's work and I love how he crafted an entire world in just 3 books (technically LotR is one book just split in three) but seriously I don't need all this set-up just for it not to mean a damn thing in the next two novels (as much as I love the Ents they're probably the only real downside to The Two Towers (though they do redeem themselves).

I honestly can't believe people actually thought that. "Fly" has more than one meaning, get a fucking dictionary people. The context it's said in is a dead giveaway as to what he meant because how the fuck do you fly out of a mine (with a Balrog on your ass at that). As much as Tolkien is great at alluding to certain things in his books there is no denying he meant "run for your fucking lives" and not "fly on the backs of eagles". Nerds will never cease to amaze me (yes I say that knowing full well I am one).

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I thought Tom was the most unbelievable character. Lol. He was definitely interesting but singing all the time was a bit creepy to me considering. Especially since he is so powerful he can simply basically order anyone or anything to do something by singing it. He sang a song to the hobbits and told them to go strip down and play in the river. Next thing you know we got naked hobbits frolicking around for a couple paragraphs. XD

  11. I was listening to some music on my PC while I was working earlier today and after a while I shut the stream off. About 20 mins later my speakers abruptly starting making loud low noises like a test pattern. I shook the speaker a bit and it stopped and I turned the power off on them. I kept working and another 5 mins later I smelled burning plastic.. and then smoke coming from my speaker.. wtf. It only stopped burning after I unplugged it from the wall. I don't know if the speaker caught fire because of a component in it, or if the ac adapter kept failed and kept pumping electricity into it. I'm glad I was there when it happened or it could have caused a serious fire incident. Now I'm paranoid about my other electronics catching fire on me. x_x

  12. Battlefield 1 premium is on sale for $29.99 for pc but it's still full price for console players. No thanks EA. I'll just hold onto my money then. 😬

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Probably won go on sale until after Battlefront II comes out. I think the console player base is still really strong, plus the have the play with a friend system where you can play all the DLC as long as someone in your squad has it. The PC base always fizzles faster.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Usually how it goes as the PC base is pretty non-existent right now (they suffer more from this paywall then us console players do as console players are more apt to buying the Season Pass then PC players (you know since the PC master race thinks they should get everything for free (I in no way believe we shouldn't but they never fully adopted the season pass mentality that we have)). It'll see a resurgence in a week or two when In the Name of the Tsar goes live next month (which I'm kinda looking forward too, some of the maps look fun). The only downside to playing with a friend is you don't get any unlocks or xp for playing DLC maps (the only downside to the system), you just get to experience the map and not the weapons (unless you get lucky to pick one up from a dead enemy).

  13. Dark Matter season 3 finale was tonight. The massive space battle scene was great and there is now a couple major plot lines going for season 4. This is one of the best scifi series Syfy has made in a long time. :D

  14. I saw a partial eclipse today from where I live. I didn't have the eclipse glasses since there wouldn't be much to see here. But Lady made a makeshift eclipse viewer with a box and some foil. It worked great and we could easily see the crescent shape of the moon over the sun. Even with 70-80% coverage here the light was only slightly dimmed for a while and colors looked a bit off. Other than that it was like any other day. I was half expecting the sky to darken more, but apparently 20%+ of the sun is still bright as f*ck. XD

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Yeah it just looked like a standard rainy day here. There wont be an total eclipse where I live until 2049. I think 2099 is the next time there will be one where you are. XD

  15. I ended up spending my entire weekend cleaning my basement. Theres a good chance I might be moving to a different house in a month or so and I wanted to make sure the move would go smooth. Its amazing how much junk accumulates in a basement. I was planning on playing some gw2 this weekend.. and it never happened. XD

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Well at least you did it this weekend and not the Beta. Maybe at your new house, Fed Ex will deliver to the correct house. XD

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it with them. XD

  16. I bought a used 500gb super slim PS3 today from gamestop. Damn that thing is quiet compared to my old 120 gb slim one. Before my old ps3 died it sounded like a box fan even tho I've cleaned it repeatedly over the years and it had no dust build up in it. With all the free games I've been getting from PS+ over the past couple years, I think I'll install some to check out now that I have the hard drive space to install them. I didn't even realize I owned Beyond good and evil hd remaster. That sequel trailer for ps4 looked good. I might give it an hour and see if it holds my attention... after I play Uncharted 4.

  17. Fairy Tail is over.. and the final chapter was decent. No hentai fluff crap like I was expecting. Instead it had a nice retrospect back to the first handful of chapters of the entire series. As much as I hated and complained about the ending, I will miss this manga. Its hard to believe I've been reading it for 11 years. I'll have to pick up some other manga to read now.

  18. My PS3 died today. :( It was one of my favorite consoles of all time and the best bluray player ever. I tried everything to fix it except buy a new power adapter. If I buy a multimeter I can test it to see if thats the issue or not. But I'll probably be better off putting the $30 that would cost towards a newer model refurbished one. I would just get another ps4 for my living room, but I still have a bunch of ps3 games I still want to eventually play.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

      You'll never play them. XD

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I left my PS3 on for its entire life. I never used that "off switch" in the back so it was always on low power or what ever it was called. I had a first gen launch day version. It actually got me more money on trade it towards the slew of PS4 games I got on the PS4 launch. thats pretty sad that a first edition was worth more than a newer slim because of the backwards compatibility.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I might not ever play them, but it was the Final Fantasy 13 games. I could pick them up on steam now, but that PS3 was the best bluray player ever because of it's built in dolby digital surround sound decoder. With a bluray movie and my 5.1 speaker set up, that PS3 made my living room sound like a movie theater with massive bass. I think to buy a bluray player with that audio output would cost around $50, so I still think I'll spend the extra $50-$80 more and get a refurbished ps3 instead so I'll get the benefits of auto firmware updates, a 500 gb hard drive and access to all my games again.

  19. My new kitten Maggie is not giving me an ounce of privacy or free time. x_x We have been slowly integrating her in with our dogs and after the last couple days they seem to be getting along just fine now. We had to take her to the vet a few days ago to check her spay operation from the shelter. It was slightly infected. -_-; She got antibiotics, a fresh staple and has had a cone on her head since then and it won't come off for another week. She likes to knock over everything and almost spilled my glass of water on my laptop. x_x

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Exactly. XD Thankfully she is showing no interest in electronic cables unless they are in her way. x_x But she has a fascination for anything white. She has tried to destroy both of my white ear bud sets, has attacked white shoe laces and knocked over a bunch of my work papers and proceeded to bite the papers until I threw a toy for her. x_x

  20. The power of friendship prevails in Fairy Tail and the bad guy was defeated. -_-; *slow clap* One chapter left for the epilogue. This guy hasn't drawn a hentai inspired chapter in a long while so I'm going to assume it'll end with a bunch of fan service at this point.

I mention Naruto and One Piece since they're the only other long running series I've cared about. I guess Berserk should be included to but its only a long running series because the guy makes 1-2 chapters every 5 years. -_-; i tried reading hajime no ippo but f*ck that. It's somehow longer than one piece and shows no sign of ending. I loved the anime tho.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Considering what I know of One Piece I'd have to agree as it's quite obvious he's working toward a set goal (I still need to sit down and watch it as well as get caught back up on the manga (I believe I got to chapter 30 or 40 before I quit reading due to other concerns) as everything he does feels planned (by what I've read and heard from others). I can't comment much on Naruto as the only chapter I've read is the final one but again it seemed he knew where he was going from the get go (the anime on the other hand didn't seem like it knew where it was going).

Yea, I need to get back into reading Berserk (I stopped reading at volume 9 but I do have up to volume 35 downloaded) and start reading Five Star Stories (you think Berserk is bad, the author for FSS went on a 9 year hiatus before he started up again in 2015 (stopped in 2006) and the manga has been going on since 1986, I think he's currently on hiatus again).

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

lol. wow. XD It took Gutts and the group 9 years of manga chapters to get to the current island they're on.. take your time reading it, you'll catch up and then wait 8 more years for more progress to be made.

  21. I'm adopting a cat from the shelter. :D We went there last saturday and picked her out. A little kitten 4 months old. We're waiting to hear back from the place about when to pick her up. They give her full vaccinations, spay and a month of flea treatment. They have to spay her before they can release her to us, so we just gotta wait a few more days to find out when we can get her. They got hit with multiple large hoarding cases recently of saved animals and theres alot of volunteers there now. I hope this shelter doesn't screw this up. We have little cat toys and a new litter pan all ready for her.

      Strider Hiryu

God I'd love to have a cat/kitten but like both of you I'm allergic (and not mildly, I've almost been run to the hospital more than once due to an allergic reaction brought on by a cat). It fucking sucks because cats adore me and always come near me (and I have to pet them because KITTY!). I am thinking of getting a Siberian in the future though pending on whether I can handle their fur or not (they're one of the 5 breeds that don't set off most people allergies that are allergic to cats. Sadly they're also $1200 for a kitten from a breeder).

I can handle dogs fine (though I am mildly allergic). It's a good thing because I get stuck watching my parents dog quite a bit (cute little scamp but annoying as all hell).

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That's one expensive cat breed. O_O

We got the phone call earlier today... We get to pick up our kitty some time tomorrow. :D

  22. I started playing Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and its great. The best part about this game is the hidden "Nightmare" stages in each chapter. I stumbled across the first one in chapter 1 and fell in love with it. I found a random bunk that had a sleep icon on it, I clicked on it and Blazkowicz went to sleep / transitioned into a HD remaster of the 8-bit nightmare that is the original Wolfenstein 3D game. XD Each stage has been extremely fun and gives me flashbacks to my childhood. :D

My PS4 has never downloaded a single update while in rest mode. Its been years now and I'm mostly used to it, but its annoying as hell when I actually want to play a game and I have to wait for a damn update with their dial up speed download rates. -_-; My PS3 perfectly turns itself on around 6am (I don't know if it does it every day or not), downloads any updates and shuts itself back off. But my PS4 can't do this in rest mode. wtf. The only time I have to do an update on my ps3 is on the rare time a download fails or an update happens after it does it's daily or twice a week check. I had to download a netflix update a couple days ago, first time I've had to run a manual update on the system in over a year.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

For me it's not the download speed. It was the preparing to download part. I'd have to wait 30 min to an hour for 20 seconds of download. Someone said it has to do with the PS4 checking for the updates you already have and trying to decide the least amount it needs to download. Thry really just need to scrap it and just replace the files. The thought is nice to save people bandwidth, but it's not practical if your system never updates in rest.

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Omg yes. I hate that preparing to download crap. I included that into the 3 hour download the other day. It was about 20 minutes of uncharted 4 "preparing to download". That crap makes no sense to me. I can turn on steam and updates will just auto download instantly. No other platform or system will "prepare to download" anything.

  23. Even in the last couple chapters of Fairy Tail, people that just died are brought back to life again.. -_-; At least a main bad guy is getting a proper ending now with one last big fight. Only 5 chapters left. Knowing how this manga is going, I'm guessing everyone will win with the power of friendship, or the author will be the ultimate troll and have the bad guy win and kill everyone. lmao. If he did that it would piss off everyone. I kind of hope it happens. I'm rooting for evil to win. XD

  24. I wish amazon would indicate if something is being shipped from out of country. The last 2 items I've purchased were both prime eligible and both gave the impression there would be 2 day shipping, until I get to the checkout and 'free 2 day shipping' has a delivery date of 1 week later. Still no indication as to why until I get the UPS tracking number and find out the item is being shipped from Canada. I haven't had anything from amazon actually arrive in 2 days in over 8 months.

      Honestly no, it's all hypocrisy. We could have a lotto if it went to schools. People are more open to it now. The problem is every time there is a proposal, the government wants it to go into the state general fund... So they can fatten their pockets. So when it gets voted down they do the "the people have spoken and don't want a lotto". -_-;

There is plenty of titty bars and porn/adult toy shops around here. Honestly I don't know how they stay in business when you can order everything discretely online. There was a Asian brothel across from the mall for 20 years running as a "massage parlor". It even had an ad in the paper when newspapers were still viable. XD everyone knew it was a whore house, but I heard they use to give a lot of inside information to law enforcement so they turned a blind eye. A few months ago it closed down and a ton of Asians showed up in the crook book with all the mug shots. I don't know if they do that in your state, but we even have a Facebook page called "Arrested in Mobile" that posts all the mug shots as they get booked. XD

    3. Sledgstone

  25. LoTR Fellowship of the Rings is such a slow book. The battle of five armies in The Hobbit was only around 40 pages. In Fellowship, I'm 80 pages in and Frodo is still in the process of leaving the shire.. wtf. I'm glad the movies skipped 90% of this. Nobody would watch the movie if 2 hours was dedicated to him attending his estate while waiting on Gandalf to finally show back up 15 years after telling Frodo to keep the ring safe. Roughly 15 years he was gone.. wtf. In the movies, its like he went and made a cell phone call and came right back all worried. In the book its a boring Hobbit's life with Frodo eventually taking care of his belongings, selling his house, getting his affairs in order, getting some breakfast with Sam, etc. x_x

Thanks for the warning about the silmarillion. After reading the hobbit I was interested in getting more of his books but after reading the first 20 pages of notes, etc. that is the prologue of fellowship and then the first 80 pages of the book, Tolkien has almost burned me out in 100 pages. X_x All the hobbit lore in that prologue was all pointless details to me that add nothing to the plot. It completely lines up with what you said tho. It's all world building. This guy is more detail oriented in his writing than Peter Straub. However there is one part of the notes that really intrigued me. Tolkien, in response to critics saying his books was a metaphor for his experience in the war, gave an example of an alternate version of LoTR if it was. In the alternate version Sauron would have gotten the ring back and Saruman would have created his own ring of power and their two armies would have raged war against each other for control of middle earth. That would have been cool. Lol.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Meh, that was mostly there for those who hadn't read The Hobbit before getting into LOTR (I know I hadn't read The Hobbit before I read LOTR, was a nice little intro into what happened before the events currently taking place).

Don't get me wrong some of Tolkien's best work is in The Silmarillion (in fact it is my favorite book out of everything he's written) but like I said its a pain to read through all of it. I actually like that Tolkien took the time to actually set up his world and give us the details, it made it feel more alive). Too many books these days don't take the time to do that and just throw you into the fray without even a "Hey, this is whats kinda going on just so you know". Shit just wait until you get to the appendices in The Return of the King (if your copy has it, mine did). There is so much information on who's who, the elven language (which is actually a language, Tolkien was a Linguist), another few pages of story not mentioned in the book proper (like the Grey Havens scene from the movie, what happened after Sam and Frodo got back to the Shire, what Pippin and Merry were up to after everything, etc), and so much more (The Silmarillion has something similar but its not as bad).

Reading Tolkien is a huge commitment and is something I learned the hard way back when I first started reading his work. If you can put up with the amount of information he throws at you the reward is well worth the boredom.

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind as a slug through these boring bits. :P
