  1. The story in Destiny is basically nonexistent. Much of the story is locked behind grimoire cards that we get for doing anything.. but those cards can't be viewed in game. Only on their website or through the app. The only other game I played that did this was Xenosaga 2 and 3.. we'd have a database instead of cards, but that database would update all the time.. there was literally a novel's worth of reading in there. But even with all that lore in the database it didn't detract from the massive amounts of voice acting and cut scenes in the game. If anything they wanted to make 2-3 more games but decided to through the extra plot lines into the database than let all that writing go to waste. But in Destiny, I only get a handful of plot lines that are never picked up again. Where did the stranger go? And where is the queen.. on the tower we can see the speaker.. at the reef.. there is no queen. When I first watched this trailer all those months ago I got the impression that it was a father telling his son a story.. In the description: But in the game, we start off as a resurrected corpse with a ghost robot telling us to kill things. I don't consider the dark below or house of wolves as an expansion.. maybe HoW because it expanded the map with the reef.. but thats just a social hub.. The next expansion will give us 3 new subclasses a couple new strikes, some new weapons, no new locations that have been announced.. for $40. GW2 will have their first expansion.. We get 8 new subclasses, a new profession also with a subclass, a new campaign expansion that'll probably take a couple weeks for me to beat, new pvp and wvw game modes, a massive new map, a large campaign boss, probably a couple new world bosses, new mastery and trait systems, etc.. etc.. for probably $60. All of Destiny's expansions combined, including the one not yet released, don't provide nearly as much and costs more money. Bungie needs to step up their game.
  2. Bungie screwed up the inventory by having rng rolls on the weapons. After adding crap loads of more weapons with the two expansions there was no more inventory space for all the weapons. In hind sight they could have left all guns with set upgrades and then updated the weapon inventory to be the same style as bf4. Imagine quickly changing your weapon load out in crucible by easily navigating your unlocked weapons in an easy drop down menu that takes no inventory space in the bank. It would have been a much better system but with all the rng perk differences between the exact same weapons that would never work now. I hate the limitations of old gen systems. I still wonder how much better the game could have been if they didn't waste so many work hours on old gen compatability issues. And it's been a while since I played bf4.. I turned that on the other day and forgot just how great it looks. All the plant life blew me away all over again since I've been so used to looking at destiny shrubs and spin metal.
  3. My problem is I got burned out on all the bounties. Its so repetitive and boring to keep doing the same things over and over. X_x I got burned out on gw2 for the same reasons. Endless world bosses and silverwastes. It's why I got into the gw2 pvp. I can get my daily done in roughly 10 minutes a day now in only 1-2 five minute matches. Most pvp players make the AI in PVE seem ridiculous. In pve everyone can run full zerk but in pvp you'll get your ass handed to you with a zerk build. It's a different kind of challenging from destiny pve/pvp. Destiny pve is like running dungeons in gw2. You memorize where the enemies spawn, when the spawn, what enemy you have to pull to what location, etc. And you do it so many times you start speed running everything. After doing honor of the waves and cof paths for a couple weeks I go so burned out on dungeons I hardly touch them anymore. I think that's also why I don't turn on destiny as much. After I do the same strike, mission, bounty, etc more than five times it loses alot of my interest. :/
  4. I'd like a new subclass but it'll only involve more grinding endless strike playlists to level it up. It'll be a hard sell for me.. more strike speed runs for hours.. or I could spend that $40 towards the uncharted trilogy and have a great story that'll keep me entertained for a couple solid weeks. Any new expansion bungie releases at this point could be considered 2 expansions worth considering how small the dark below was.
  5. This is going to be so much fun.. as long as there is a difficulty option. Megaman X was my favorite.. almost all the others were rage inducing unbeatable games for me.
  6. I've only played the first Uncharted and thought it was pretty good. Naughty Dog made something great with this series. I think of it as their own version of Tomb Raider. I'll definitely buy this hd remaster and the new Uncharted 4 when it comes out. Source: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/06/04/uncharted-the-nathan-drake-collection-out-october-9th-on-ps4/
  7. http://kotaku.com/leak-destinys-new-expansion-is-the-taken-king-out-sep-1709972043 So we'll get a new subclass, a new raid that I'll probably never play and no news about a new planet or matchmaking improvements. The new subclass sounds like fun, but not $40 fun when GW2 HoT and Star Wars Battlefront will be out around the same time. I think I'll pass on any more dlc. I remember Bungie saying at one point that Destiny's universe would be as big as Star Wars.. but at $40 a dlc for more moon missions, It'll be another $1000 a player before we ever finish the initial solar system.
  8. Aren't they going to reset everyone's iron banner ranking yet again when it ends? I still haven't hit rank one but its annoying to me considering I was nearly rank 2 on it back in the day. :/
  9. Unless blink was changed some since I last used it months ago, I didn't think it was good for pvp at all. Lol. I swear it would clip on everything. The slightest edge of a wall would stop the blink in its tracks prematurely. It also never saved me from anything. If I saw a rocket coming, I'd blink away but if the rocket hit the location I was just at while I'm rematerializing in the new location it would still kill me. Which is funny because I've seen it happen to someone else to. Someone blinked in front of me and vaporized. if I hadn't experienced it myself is wonder wtf just happened.
  10. Sounds good. The only thing I have planned for tomorrow is slow cooking some ribs on my smoker, playing some Destiny and GW2.. and maybe watching a movie at home. Aside from that weekly heroic and some IB, I need to get about 60 more vanguard marks from strike playlists so I can buy the Sawtooth Oscillator from the vanguard guy. The Guild Wars 2 lfg panel is so damn convenient because you can easily join on a team for group events, dungeons, organized world boss maps, etc.. But Destiny doesn't really need an lfg like that. Bungie needs to stop trying to make this like an MMO, and expand their matchmaking system they already have in place. If 4 people can team up, good.. let their fireteam jump in a raid and get auto matchmade with the remaining 2 they need. I don't see why they don't allow this. Oh.. and I forgot to mention about time gating. It makes some sense for GW2.. there are only about 10 crafting items that are time gated and I believe it is strictly for controlling the market for those items. Not always in the best way tho. Damask is bullshit. lol. I make 1 a day to make a few gold profit a day and damn its annoying to do that daily instead of in batches. But for Destiny, there is no market. I don't see the point in having anything time gated or for having weekly caps on vanguard and crucible marks. GW2 has all dungeon paths and world bosses capped at 1 large reward chest per account per day, but they don't have any weekly caps like Destiny. Well, technically the there is because all the daily rewards added up would be the actual weekly amounts, but thats only for large reward chests. Theres plenty of smaller chests and other events that can be farmed endlessly. The only reason I can understand Bungie putting a weekly cap in place, is that they are following the mobile gaming trend of time gating everything. People are already used to playing mobile games for 5 minutes at a time or only once a day, and Bungie wants to make sure dedicated players don't get burned out all in one month, so they put time gate caps on chests and RNG on everything to make sure nobody will ever get all gear or exotics. I'm surprised they haven't put micro payments in effect yet. I doubt Xur will ever sell EL, because if Bungie wants more money, they might sell 5 packs of them for $4.99 a piece in a DLC.
  11. After loosing 5 IB matches in a row yesterday, getting no points for anything and endless frustration.. I didn't even bother trying it today. I need to get that bad juju bounty done, which is why I was in skirmish.. i had a skirmish bounty too and at least I was making progress on a couple things at the same time. I'm still not used to texting you strider. lol. I'll keep that in mind next time. I had about 3 hours to burn tonight, I didn't text either of you because I decided to do a bunch of bounties to level up my last word. I finally got that damn urn bounty done too, which gave me the bounty to kill omnigul. Now I can kill two birds with one stone when I do that weekly at max difficulty probably tomorrow. If either of you have nothing planned, I could probably use the help. I did luck out with a legendary helmet drop. I got the vanguard fear eater, so I started leveling up my fancy exotic scarab gauntlet. The reloading primary weapons faster perk doesn't seem that significant tho. I didn't finishing leveling up TLW yet, I need the last 3 upgrade damage unlocks, but aside from that, the stability perk with the hip fire bonus damage makes this gun beastly now. On a side note, aside from leveling up weapons and doing bounties in the hope of getting a new exotic bounty to pop up for me, I don't actually enjoy doing the bounties and patrolling anymore.. its all so repetitive. The strikes are still enjoyable as long as I don't get the exact same strike numerous times in a row.. and crucible is still fun but the matchmaking seems so off to me. PoE and Raids need matchmaking. I like the level 28 PoE, but needing to team up outside of the game for higher difficulties is stupidity. I've seen plenty of ppl say on reddit, just use Destinylfg.com or one of the other sites, its quick and easy, blah blah.. but why isn't it in the game!? wtf.. I don't care what the new expansion is going to be after HoW, but if they expect me to actually buy it they need to add matchmaking to everything, and add a damn map to the game. I have horrible memory for scenery.. but I can memorize maps no problem. I still can't find many locations for bounties unless I look up a map on google. It seems so counter productive to me. My guardian can resurrect from death, has a space ship to travel to any planet, can teleport from that same space ship to the planet's surface.. but he doesn't have a basic mapping system, even tho my ghost has now mapped every portion of the explorable areas for bounties.. and even tho I can teleport from my ship to a planet's surface.. I can only teleport to the exact same starting locations on those respective planets.. The Raids seem good, but if the next expansion's focus is on 1 or 2 new Raids I'll pass on it. I don't have the time or people to get into a raid, and with my dogs barking randomly, I'd be the worse pug in any group. And I was thinking about IB earlier.. what about the people that didn't buy HoW? None of them have access to PoE, armor cores to quickly level up.. and all have weapons and armor at Dark Below amounts.. So, when the next expansion hits and if I don't buy it, I'll never be able to even attempt Iron banner again because I'd be completely outclassed in every aspect.
  12. I got 6 coins this week, most pug groups I get in are crap for omnigul so I didn't try the weekly on the hardest difficulty yet. I was playing Skirmish yesterday to finish a bounty and that game mode can be a real hit or miss. The matchmaking in destiny needs some work. Maybe because my k/d has been so bad lately that I keep getting teamed up with ppl of similar stats... as in crap teams.. because I'm in a perpetual losing streak with teammates that never go positive now. X_x
  13. I wish I could but I got that drop before the expansion hit. It's only 270 or so damage. I only have 3 secondaries with 300 something damage.. that side arm, I've breaker and that void sniper rifle that dropped for me 2 days ago. And I'm still stuck with a heavy that is capped at 272. I lucked out with those couple exotic armor pieces, but damn I would have loved some new weapons instead.
  14. I did about 5 rounds of IB yesterday and lost everyone of them. I blame the matchmaking tho. I knew I was going to suck since my weapons weren't maxed, but I got teamed up with a constant team of ppl as screwed as me. nobody on my team had a positive k/d at the end of any round while the other teams mostly consisted of thorn and mythoclast and everyone having at least a 1.7 k/d. After 5 matches I didn't feel like getting slaughtered anymore. I'll try again tonight.
  15. I probably won't be on much today but I am planning on getting a few rounds of IB in. Even with my non leveled up weapons giving me a disadvantage I'll at least be getting my rank up. Id like to get that etheric light.
  16. I lucked out with rng and had this drop for me today. NL Shadow 701X with full auto, over penetrating rounds and firefly.
  17. That could be useful and would work good with either supers.
  18. Wtf.. I want those gauntlets on my guardian. I feel like hunters keep getting shafted in this game. ;_;
  19. I got to level 32 today and got my ice breaker feature unlocked. I love seeing enemies explode again. Now I have to get ridiculous amounts of crucible kills to get this bad juju bounty done. Crucible is fun for me tho, so that doesn't bother me much. I got in a bad pug group for the level 30 weekly.. I revived my teammates so many times that I'm used to running blade dancer just for the invisibility perks for reviving purposes. I'm back up to 22 strange coins.. I'm going to save 17 at all times now just in case gally ever gets sold by Xur again. I doubt he will ever sell it tho.
  20. 2:42 was hilarious.. the fight was so intense.. I wish the "tracking issues" of the old vhs tape didn't screw up the fight scene. His origin story was too funny.
  21. They put the movie on youtube. I thought it'd be longer than 30 minutes, but damn.. that was a great 30 mins.
  22. I understand that drive towards getting that weapon, once I got Frostfang in gw2 I almost lost interest as if it was the driving factor behind my playing. But then #fashionwars2 kicked in and I now have 3 back pieces and numerous minis I'm not even using and now I want twilight for my necro. Lol. Destiny's fashion wars is pure rng from drops unless you buy vanguard or crucible sets. :/
  23. I should be good for trying it on Sunday. Btw ice breaker has the auto ammo regen by default. House of wolves is definitely leaps and bounds better than the dark below, but I'm just not getting the full addiction feeling I had when destiny first came out. That and I have a little dog now that loves to bark in a microphone and needs to go outside at random times. I started playing shadows of mordor and I realized how much I love being able to pause a game again. I'm afk so much in my games now it's ridiculous and often unproductive as I miss in game events or I come back to see my character dead (in gw2, I've been killed by an deer a couple times.). I know battlefront will be out later this year and I need to play some of my other ps4 games I've got on the back burner so I can justify buying another game. Lol. I'll get on destiny with you guys but I don't know how much of it I'll be doing solo for leveling up while I've got dragon age sitting next to the ps4 gathering dust.
  24. Doctor Who has always been one of my favorite shows, but this last series with Peter Capaldi has hit a new low for me. I loved Matt Smith and David Tennant as their own respective doctors, but Peter Capaldi's doctor is so bland. He might be a better doctor if the show actually had decent writers though. In all of time and space to travel to, the doctor has spent about 90% of that season in the school where Clara works.. Surrounded by children, Peter Capaldi's age is even more pronounced and he is often seen as an old cranky man that only listens to his grand daughter's (Clara's) opinion. After talking with my parents, they seem to enjoy him as the doctor, and if anything, that was the goal of this last season.. to appeal to the older, original audience base of the show. But in the long term that won't work out good for the show seeing as the older audience base eventually lost interest and it lead to the inevitable cancellation of the show. Also.. Clara.. so much focus on Clara. They should have made the doctor a woman for this series considering how much they have focused on her over the actual doctor. I knew the show was going downhill when, in one scene on the moon, the doctor jumped into a cavern to investigate some giant bacteria.. and just when I thought the episode was going to get interesting, the camera doesn't follow the doctor, instead it goes right back to Clara again.. who is just walking somewhere. Who cares what the doctor is doing.. they should just rename the show "Clara Who?". I was hoping they'd kill off her character so the show could focus on the Doctor again.. but that doesn't seem likely any time soon. Maybe the show will get better, but unless they actually explore space and time again, I'm going to eventually lose all interest.
