And this confirms their "pay to win, grind to win" strategy. Everyone has to pay $40 to do all the same stuff over and over again in hopes of getting a new better weapon from rng, and whoever doesn't will have subpar weapons and armor that can't keep up with the newer minimum level requirements for the raids, weekly, nightfall and iron banner. And I'm sure they'll bust out another dlc as big as taken king by the end of this year and all the taken king weapons will be able to level up to "year 2" max damage.

This is bungie's way of scrapping about 75% of the weapons from having future balance issues and also "fixing" the limited storage options.. once all your old weapons are crap, ppl will get rid of them instead of hoarding everything, thus everyone will have more storage.

Doesn't surprise me any. They've been making bad choices ever since The Dark Below (and even some before then). They're just following the formula they think works for them and pissing off their fans while doing so. I feel bad for the X-Box players because Hawkmoon will now be useless to them (and I know plenty of XB players that have wanted to get their hands on HM). I'm really glad I decided not to buy this expansion, I knew Bungie was going to do something stupid and this just proves I was right. So many other games to spend money on that will be leaps and bounds better then Destiny (Battlefront, SC2: LoV (just preordered the Collector's Edition), The Division, etc).

Sadly I got on last weekend just because Xur was selling Suros so now I own it but it's practically worthless to have now.

Alot of ppl compare destiny to an MMO and that it's a free to play model but bungie is actually doing a combination of grind to win and pay to win model imo. The only way to get the next best weapons is to buy the dlc because the new weapons have a higher bar damage. And then if you want to get the even better weapons you have to grind endlessly until you get it or the bounty from rng. As much as I complain about dlc, if bungie had xur sell exotic bounties for higher coin costs and then sold coins in a dlc pack like how gw2 sells gems, I would have bought coins, then bought a gally bounty half a year ago and I'd have enjoyed the game much more.
As it is now the destiny model of endless grinding for randomness is to time consuming for me.
If I compare destiny to other fps games like bf4, destiny fails to deliver. In bf4 everyone can grind to win also thanks to the assignments / weapon bounties. But at least in bf4 we all have the assignments by default and all our play time counts towards that progression. So even if I do just a few rounds of conquest I'm unlocking up to 10-20 new weapons. I see that progress and feel a sense of accomplishment. But in destiny I have to keep doing the exact same bounties over and over again and hope for an exotic bounty to drop. I've only had 1 exotic bounty ever and I still didn't finish it yet. Bf4 assignments got me addicted to it.. but in destiny I have no real goals or any possible way of getting even the first step to even getting a goal because everything is rng.
I do like that the next destiny dlc will include a new subclass because it'll be something to unlock and enjoy as we get the new perks. But at this point I'd rather not pay $50 just to give myself a new goal.

Pulse Rifles are getting a minor nerf but yea they'll probably get an even bigger nerf once it's apparent that PR's are the go to gun for PVP (it happened to shotguns, auto rifles, and now to handcannons). It's going to suck even more for those of you who have guns like the Messenger as they're not exactly the easiest weapons to get a hold of (especially the adept versions) and after doing all that work to get them they'll get bitch slapped like HC and Gally. The Gally nerf really makes no sense to me. It's an exotic weapon, it's supposed to be an all powerful weapon that you want to use. Even more so when you can only have one exotic weapon equipped at a time. Yea it's a crutch weapon but so are most of the exotics in this game. Last Word, a gun used solely for PVP reasons due to fast fire rate and hip fire abilities. Ice Breaker, long range rifle with ammo regeneration that hits hard and comes in handy in tricky situations where replenishing ammo is a problem. Invective, a crutch weapon if I've ever seen on. Full-auto shotgun that hits like a truck and regens its own ammo. These weapons were designed to be go to weapons for certain situations. Hell even if I got Gally I most likely wouldn't give up Ice Breaker for PVE situations as Ice Breaker, imo, is the far superior weapon as it has more uses outside of being a boss weapon.

The Gally nerf will cause quite a few people to leave the game but sadly they'll go back. Why? Why do we keep going back everytime we say we're done with the game? Why does anyone go back to a game they say they'll quit (like WoW, GW, FF, etc)? Because it's addicting and fun for a short time. The only bonus to Destiny is it's F2P so it doesn't require real money to play when you want to actually play it or when you give it up (as much as you all claim it's F2P with the amount of money you throw into GW2 you might as well be paying a monthly fee (I have no room to talk, I've thrown more money into STO then I care to admit while playing FFXIV, which I've also spent money on outside of the monthly fee)). This is the key selling point for Destiny, you play an MMO like game without any monthly fees or without any pay-to-win/pay-for-fashion (yea I had to it) items. Plus, while it's currently backfiring, Bungie is actually listening to their community and making balance changes and changes to the game to keep people playing. Most developers won't do that (Blizzard being one of the biggest) and it's a major plus for a game like this to have an active and helpful developer that actually listens. Sadly they've been taking changes to far or making changes that make no sense in one aspect of the game but make complete sense in the other aspect. Bungie really needs to get players play testing these changes/ideas before they implement/tell us about them. This way they get direct player feed back and know if these changes are what the community wants or if they're even necessary based on what the player base thinks.

I agree with you on that. The other problem I have with SE is that I enjoyed the old school final fantasy games and when I saw they were releasing new versions of some classics in steam I was very excited for some good turn based combat.. and then I saw the games and they were all remastered with character models for children. I pretty much hate children and these re-releases look like crap to me.
I think SE did a good job with real time combat in FF12. Unlike ff13, there was no cutaway to a combat screen. All the encounters happened with in the same exploreable area and it got rid of random encounters because all enemies were visible from some distance.
Honestly tho, our generation of gamers are going to be shit all over in the near future. The new generation of gamers are all trained to be adhd by their parents who give them their tablet or smart phone and let them play endless f2p games that are all time gated at 5 mins or less of enjoyment. As they keep running out of time they move on to the next game. I've seen this first hand with plenty of relatives and friend's kids. They no longer have the attention span to actually enjoy a RPG. They'd all rather dump $20 into a f2p tablet game with crap graphics for 30 mins of enjoyment than pay that same money for a game with a solid plot that could entertain them for weeks. F2p games are the new Crack for children, rivaling sugar, snacks and soda. With games like clash of clans, game of war, and numerous others making $1-5 million per day, all game companies will eventually cater to that market now.

Just a few notes on this remake. Seems they're not going for a copy/paste approach with new graphics on this remake. Seems a lot of people are worried now and seems like if this goes wrong SE is going to be in a world of hurt.

So it seems there was some news at E3 about LoV. Looks like we're getting 3 new prologue missions for free to bridge the gap between HotS and LoV and there's going to be another beta in July. I'm thinking we're getting close to a release date for this.

If they bring in an in-game LFG I'd consider buying this because matchmaking, as DX pointed out, would be rather difficult since communication is key to doing a raid successfully (yes even Crota requires communication even if it is easier then VoG).

Even a new campaign isn't worth going back for since you could honestly beat the original campaign in a couple of hours if you set the time aside to do so (I think in total you could do the entirety of Destiny Vanilla in about 3 hours, 4 if you actually took your time). Plus the trailer, with what little story it gave away, didn't look all that impressive (outside of the new subclasses) and they really need to do an expansion dedicated to the Cabal because I'm sick of Vex, Hive, and Fallen. I really want to know more about the Cabal since they're the odd man out (you only get one planet you deal with them on where as you get 2 for every other race (3 for Fallen)).

Not going to lie the story looks like shit and the game itself looks like an Advanced Warfare clone but that multiplayer looks fucking amazing and fun as hell. I might just have to pick this up (but then again it'll clash with Battlefront so probably not).

Well it makes sense a game like this would have an area that would require groups, I mean they are going for the MMO feel here. However, like you I'm not hip on this anything goes mentality. You're really going to have to make sure you're with a team a people you really trust especially if you're going into a Dark Zone and you can loose your gear if you're killed.

Shit dude with my new job and schedule we could tear this shit up when the game is released. I mean we can two man Nightfalls in Destiny and I honestly don't think these will be much different difficulty wise. We'll just have to make sure we're at least 2-4 levels higher then the mobs we fight. Plus when Sledge switches to working at home we'll have a third man for this (and maybe a fourth if my old co-worker decided to get a PS4 for this game as I'm one of the only people he knows getting it).

Just do it how I leveled Bladedancer, get on once a day and do all the bounties you can do. You'll have the subclass leveled in roughly a week (less with Nightfall buff) if you keep that up. Of course that all depends on the bounties for the day (I don't usually do the ones that require you to run through heroic versions of story quests).

The hard sell for me is just getting more content that will take us less then a day to go through and finish and then a raid I'll probably never see. Plus I know 2-3 months later there's going to be another DLC or a new game (Destiny 2 is supposedly set for release next year). It's just turning into a money sink that barely pays off (hell WoW paid off more then this game does and I only saw the inside of three raids of which I only got through one completely (and I played that for 6 years and 2 expansions)).

On a more awesome note DX and I completely two manned the Nightfall twice tonight. Got the Purifier Robes for my Warlock and another Sawtooth Oscillator on my Hunter. Also got my Queen's Wrath ship today too (completely out of glimmer now).

Yea IB rep resets at the end of every IB which sucks massively but they do it so you have to actually earn your rewards each time instead of going into the next IB with max rep and getting your weapons/armor/EL right off the bat. It's there way of balancing out the gear distribution since back in the day IB gear and raid gear were equivalent. Now it really makes no sense since IB gear isn't equivalent to PoE vendor gear, you'd think they'd be willing to let us just keep our ranks (then again EL would be extremely easy to get then since you could get a guaranteed 2 every IB).

The Matador is a beast, I don't know how many times I was killed with it on Saturday. I'd really like to get myself one but as I said I'm sticking away from Crucible now until the next IB plus my Crucible rank isn't high enough for me to even spend my marks and Dead Orbit has nothing of interest for me to buy (though I would like to get my hands on their Auto Rifle, it might have a high clip size and low impact but with the right rolls the damn thing is stable as fuck and extremely accurate).

I'm up for strike playlists as well because my Warlock needs 33 or so more marks to get boots so I can hit 32 on her (or buy a better chest piece, I got the Dead Wraps from a Legendary Engram I got tonight and I like the perks but hate the look (yes, it's all about fashion on my Warlock. My Hunter can look like crap but my Warlock needs to look good)) so I can start doing the weekly twice a week to get more coins (really want to buy the Obsidian Mind for my Voidwalker subclass for when I level it but I spent 23 coins to upgrade my blue sparrow today as Xur was selling shit like usual and am down to 22 coins again).

FF has a similar system on capping tomestones every week that allows us to buy new gear so it doesn't really bug me that we're capped on how many marks we can get a week (to buy near raid level armor and weapons in FF it requires Tomestones of Poetics which used to be capped at 450 a week (with all armor pieces costing 495 at the cheapest and 1300 at the most expensive) which they now upped to 900 as a way of helping us get geared for Heavensward). It's a retarded system but like I said it doesn't really bug me (though they need to up the cap from 200 total marks to something like 500 total marks and up to 150 marks a week since it takes 150 marks to buy weapons (the most expensive piece of gear to buy currently)). Then again this is Bungie and they don't exactly use their heads anymore when it comes to game making and making their customers happy.

Don't give them ideas Sledge, they may start doing micro-payments just to spite us (I can actually see them doing this since they have been getting quite greedy lately).

After loosing 5 IB matches in a row yesterday, getting no points for anything and endless frustration.. I didn't even bother trying it today. I need to get that bad juju bounty done, which is why I was in skirmish.. i had a skirmish bounty too and at least I was making progress on a couple things at the same time. I'm still not used to texting you strider. lol. I'll keep that in mind next time. I had about 3 hours to burn tonight, I didn't text either of you because I decided to do a bunch of bounties to level up my last word. I finally got that damn urn bounty done too, which gave me the bounty to kill omnigul. Now I can kill two birds with one stone when I do that weekly at max difficulty probably tomorrow. If either of you have nothing planned, I could probably use the help.

I did luck out with a legendary helmet drop. I got the vanguard fear eater, so I started leveling up my fancy exotic scarab gauntlet. The reloading primary weapons faster perk doesn't seem that significant tho. I didn't finishing leveling up TLW yet, I need the last 3 upgrade damage unlocks, but aside from that, the stability perk with the hip fire bonus damage makes this gun beastly now.

On a side note, aside from leveling up weapons and doing bounties in the hope of getting a new exotic bounty to pop up for me, I don't actually enjoy doing the bounties and patrolling anymore.. its all so repetitive. The strikes are still enjoyable as long as I don't get the exact same strike numerous times in a row.. and crucible is still fun but the matchmaking seems so off to me.

PoE and Raids need matchmaking. I like the level 28 PoE, but needing to team up outside of the game for higher difficulties is stupidity. I've seen plenty of ppl say on reddit, just use Destinylfg.com or one of the other sites, its quick and easy, blah blah.. but why isn't it in the game!? wtf..

I don't care what the new expansion is going to be after HoW, but if they expect me to actually buy it they need to add matchmaking to everything, and add a damn map to the game. I have horrible memory for scenery.. but I can memorize maps no problem. I still can't find many locations for bounties unless I look up a map on google. It seems so counter productive to me. My guardian can resurrect from death, has a space ship to travel to any planet, can teleport from that same space ship to the planet's surface.. but he doesn't have a basic mapping system, even tho my ghost has now mapped every portion of the explorable areas for bounties.. and even tho I can teleport from my ship to a planet's surface.. I can only teleport to the exact same starting locations on those respective planets.. The Raids seem good, but if the next expansion's focus is on 1 or 2 new Raids I'll pass on it. I don't have the time or people to get into a raid, and with my dogs barking randomly, I'd be the worse pug in any group.

And I was thinking about IB earlier.. what about the people that didn't buy HoW? None of them have access to PoE, armor cores to quickly level up.. and all have weapons and armor at Dark Below amounts.. So, when the next expansion hits and if I don't buy it, I'll never be able to even attempt Iron banner again because I'd be completely outclassed in every aspect.

See I disagree on the 34 thing, it's just as hard to hit 34 for some of us as it was to get 30 and 32 back in the day. Sledge and I are technically a week behind you and everyone else because we didn't get to do 32 PoE the first week it was out because we don't have people to run it with like you and others I know (nor do Sledge and I have the time to run it, with FF and STO I'm squeezing in Destiny time when I can). Not only are we missing a piece of gear we're also missing EL due to also not being able to do 34 PoE or 35 PoE. My only EL this week (pending on if we do get a chance to do 34 PoE on Sun) is IB and I'm sick of doing IB now and I'm halfway through rank 2. I don't even think I'm going to try of rank 3 anymore due to the overuse of Thorn (no matter what it's still a powerhouse weapon, especially when 3 people on the opposing team are using it. Last Word is the only weapon I have that puts me on an even field with those ass wipes and they still kill me) and the lack of team work from randoms (again I don't have a team to run this with, my schedule is different from my old co-workers now and they're usually playing while I'm at work and you're usually on later at night then I am (and in two weeks you won't see me get on Destiny anymore with Heavensward early access being on the 19th and retail hitting the stores on the 23rd. All free time I have will be devoted to FF again)). Not only that PoE should of been matchmaking for all difficulties except 35. Yes 32 was a lot harder then 28 and I'm sure 34 is even harder but forcing people to try and have pre-mades to do content that was supposed to make it easier for us to hit the new cap is retarded. It's adding a lair of difficulty that's just not needed (but then again this was and is the same problem with raids, as hard as they may be a PuG can and has beaten all the raids on all difficulties, Bungie is just to lazy and stuck up to realize that this is what we want).

See Party Crasher and Her Courtesy shouldn't have need for the right rolls to be good with the stat layout. My Secret Handshake sucks in comparison to the rolls I got on both of those shotguns and it's still a much better shotgun imo. Same with Invective as the only thing that makes Invective good is it's Full-Auto and Invective perks. Don't get me wrong when I do get kills with PC and HC it's usually a one shot kill but that one shot kill usually comes at the expense of me being completely fucked when I get wrecked by the next guy behind the one I killed because my gun isn't ready to fire yet. Slow shooting guns are powerhouses but unless they're full auto guns that can shoot more then one bullet every 3-5 seconds or a hand cannon with high impact your pretty much screwed in a multi-enemy confrontation. As someone who rarely goes below a 1 k/d in Crucible I like my weapons to be fast firing and at least mid-range impact to take care of enemies fast and efficiently and I'm sad to say it but I treat Crucible as if it were COD because they honestly play the same way and lets face it fast firing guns are the bread and butter of COD much like in Destiny. Of course this isn't the same for everyone and if you have a really good team to play with slow firing weapons aren't really going to hamper your ability to kill when you know you have 5 guys/gals that have your back should things get hairy.

Should of texted me last night Sledge, I'd of helped you get your 9 coins (I did mine this morning since I got the day off) since I was on at the same time as you were (though you were already in it when I got on and in Skirmish when I started doing my bounties). Doing normal Crucible during IB is going to pretty much do that to you. Almost everyone focuses on IB when it's up since the rewards are so much better then what you'd get out of normal Crucible matches. That and IB is just more fun due to advantages being in place (because lets face it a level 6 killing a 34 is just wrong no matter how you look at it).

Well that certainly explains why those ass hats were farming that area yesterday morning while I was doing bounties. Made it extremely hard to get certain ones done when enemies were no where to be found.

Heh, really looking forward to PoE now though sadly I most likely won't be able to do it until sometime in June as I go for training for my new job the week HoW goes live (sigh, when I was finally getting hyped over Destiny again). Maybe I'll get lucky and I won't have to go and train until the week after (not entirely set in stone yet, just know that I may or may not be getting a call for it come the 18th).

So DX and I were doing strikes last night and I finally got an exotic drop at the end of doing one, Sadly it wasn't Hawkmoon or Gjallahorn but I'm somewhat happy with it. I got the Last Word, as I said not my first choice but it's surprisingly better then most have made it out to be. My only complaint is how fast the thing shoots and it's small clip size but it's a surprisingly accurate hand cannon and hopefully once I get the two accuracy perks for hip fire unlocked it'll be even better while hip firing.

First paid mod was already pulled. Looks like it's going over extremely well already.

Sadly this is a very bad step in an extremely wrong direction for Valve to be taking. Mods should always be free. You should never have to pay for something that's added to a game after it comes out and by people not affiliated with the company that made said game. It's just bad practice and is going to kill the already extremely fragile PC game market (which, no matter what anyone says, has been dying very slowly for years). Mods are supposed to fun things added to games for people to screw around with, add new quests, add silly side stories, etc. They should never be made to make a profit off of (that's what the terrible DLC market is for). Plus, like Sledge said, a lot of people trying to make it into the industry use mods as a way of building a resume and showing off their skills (in fact I know several people who made it into the industry off of mods they made, hell look at the guy who made the original DotA mod for Warcraft III. The guy is working for Valve on DotA 2).

The other bad thing here is Valve is taking to much of the money from the initial sale. I understand they're acting as the middle man but 75% of the money made off the mod is a little to much and greedy. All they did was supply the way to sell and distribute the mod, they did nothing to create it. Fucking game companies are starting to get really greedy as of late and all it's going to do is kill the industry that much faster then it already is.

Strider Hiryu got a reaction from Sledgstone in Making some changes
Finally, my phone hates the current mobile version of the site (always crashes Firefox one me).

All other changes sound good to me (especially the article changes, I skip right past the main page and jump directly to the forum to begin with so I never even see the articles).

First off I deleted a bunch of those random spam posts that I've been neglecting on taking care of.

    Upcoming changes:

    1) I will most likely trash our current article system. I always liked the concept of having Ancient Clan be an actual site, but its always been a forum at its core. I'm going to revamp the front page to highlight forum posts and new content. The biggest issue I have with the article system now is that it is tied directly to the forums, we make a post, update it to an article and the article will have all the comments of that forum post, but its all duplicated content because its two separate pages with the exact same information. The articles comments also look bad because it shows comments from the beginning of a topic instead of beginning where a post was promoted to an article. I can honestly say that I almost never reply to an article when I can skip its' clunkiness and go right to the forum. There are so many sites that are article based, kotaku, gizmodo, blog format sites like geekologie and others and we don't need to be like them. I'm thinking AC's future should be more forum based like reddit, neogaf, the old Ancient Clan, etc.

    2) Instead of articles, we can post the new info and or articles right into the forum or topic like we usually do and it'll show up on the front page automatically as new content.

    3) Mobile friendly. The majority of people that use the internet will browse on their phones now, the new ipb version we'll be updating to is extremely mobile friendly. We won't have large giant images on front pages anymore. It'll speed up the site's load times and it'll be a more fluid experience. We'll still keep signatures in the forums, but they won't be visible on the mobile version.

    4) Themes. I have to look into some more theme options, I might be changing us off these dark and light themes in favor of a faster layout with less maintenance between patches.

    5) Media embedding. The new ips uses a different media embedder, some site's videos might not be embeddable until I figure out the new embedding mechanics and how its coded. Other standard media sites like youtube will be embeddable by default.

Please let me know your opinions on these changes.

Yea, there's been some wonky animation for the tv airing. They said they we fixing all that up for the BD release. Still very watchable even if the animation is a little lacking in certain areas.

Well it's certainly and interesting game. Combat reminds me of TERA in a few ways (even though this came out before). I'll probably be putting a big chunk of time into this when I'm not mindlessly grinding in FF. Rolled a Warrior for my first character since i have a thing with be a mindless killing machine and I love how you're skills change based on what weapon you currently have equipped. Really loving the dual wielding axes thing. Also rolled a Thief just to see how similar it is to playing a rogue from WoW (a class I fully mastered before the talent rework in Cataclysm), will work on her later once I'm happy with my Warrior's progression.

Oh yeah I'm also on your guy's server, seems you guys aren't quite full yet (though you are close).

Strider Hiryu got a reaction from Sledgstone in Destiny - Discussion
Meh, Bungie doesn't really understand how to make a lasting online game and it shows from this expansion and vanilla Destiny (they're treating it like a run of the mill shooter). Sadly I think this is what we'll be getting in the next dlc as well.

Well I was wrong on the Heroic weeklies since this weeks was the new strike it locked me out of it but now that I unlocked it we can still do it for coins but only 6 since the last difficulty level is 30 and that will be hard as 29's. Though with as stupid as we are I'm sure 30 will be what we do (because we all love a challenge). I'll note this that it seems a lot of the enemies for this dlc have arc shields so having arc weapons will be key it seems for everything that deals with this one (I mean the end boss for the new earth strike has arc shields by the looks of it (and this means Hive, I have no idea what shielding types the other strike has but considering they're Vex enemies I'm assuming Void as well as Arc).
