  7. Starting April 2nd, Borderlands 2 will receive a pretty sizable amount of new content. A new psycho bandit character 'Krieg' will mark the first time players will be able to see through the eyes of an enemy they are use to fighting against. The level cap will be increased from 50 to 61 for everyone that has the season pass, or it can be purchased for $4.99/800 MS points. A third playthrough dubbed "Vault Hunter Plus" will also be added free of charge to all players. This even more difficult mode is undoubtedly for players that want to play beyond level 50 as well as to drive sales for the cap increase. Making VHP free, but not the cap increase will probably receive a lot of flak from players that do not like DLC, but until the day DLC sales suffer, (which is unlikely anytime in the near future) marketing tactics like these will be the standard.

  10. With all of Lucasart's game projects on hold while the company sorts out its new Disney owners, games like 1313 and a rumored new Battlefront 3 could be on the chopping block. It would seem that some of Lucasart's developers are intentionally leaking images and footage of an FPS that was suppose to be downloadable for XBL Arcade. Star Wars: First Assault looks like a Halo/COD mash up with a Star Wars skin. The game is suppose to feature 8 on 8 battles with Storm Troopers vs. Rebel Fighters. With its future in limbo there is no doubt this move is to gauge interest. There is also talk that the game's sales were going to determine if there would be a Battlefront 3. Check out the brief footage above. http://kotaku.com/59...nd-call-of-duty Screen shots: http://kotaku.com/59...ious-cloud-city (Update) Video removed by Lucasfilms. New video up while it lasts. Watching the "Demos" I'm reminded how Sony prerendered all the trailers during the PS3 announcements, not notably Killzone 2... and here we go again with a Killzone trailer... 16. Obsidian Entertainment, makers of KOTOR II, has pitched an idea to Lucasarts to make a new Star Wars RPG focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi. The story would take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. When asked about it, Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart had this to say: Disney has previously stated that it will focus more on mobile and social media games, but Urquhart thinks he can convince them otherwise. However, he does acknowledge that the lack of KOTOR II's success will make this idea a hard sell. 20. VGLeaks has unveiled the raw system specs of Microsoft's next generation console dubbed Durango. If these specs hold up, the next "Xbox" will have some remarkably impressive processing power at 1.2 teraflops (1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second). To put that in perspective; Xbox 360 is only measured in gigaflops. After the failure of HD DVD in the current generation, it is also a notable point that Blu-ray will be included along with 8GB of RAM, Wi-Fi Direct capability, USB 3.0 and HDMI 1.4a. Unlike the latest report for PS4, there is no news on the controller nor the previously rumored augmented-reality glasses. Here is a full rundown on the specs: CPU: - x64 Architecture - 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz (GHz) - each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache - each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache - each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources - each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock GPU: - custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor - 12 shader cores providing a total of 768 threads - each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle - at peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second High-fidelity Natural User Interface (NUI) sensor is always present Storage and Memory: - 8 gigabyte (GB) of RAM DDR3 (68 GB/s) - 32 MB of fast embedded SRAM (ESRAM) (102 GB/s) - from the GPU’s perspective the bandwidths of system memory and ESRAM are parallel providing combined peak bandwidth of 170 GB/sec. - Hard drive is always present - 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Disc drive Networking: - Gigabit Ethernet - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct Hardware Accelerators: - Move engines - Image, video, and audio codecs - Kinect multichannel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware - Cryptography engines for encryption and decryption, and hashing Check out the full details from CNet and VG Leaks below: CNET: Xbox 720: 8 CPU cores of gaming power? 22. New details have emerged on Sony's next generation console. The console code named "Orbis" will have built in PS Move support, and a new controller to go along with it. While developers are reportedly using a hybrid six-axis/dual shock 3 controller with their dev kits, there is speculation that this new controller will use Vita's technology to implement a touch screen while retaining the iconic button set up. Aside from what can only be assumed to be inspiration from the Wii U, the controller is also rumored to have a RGB LED light and much improved motion detection technology. The dev kit specs never exactly match the final console, but here is what developers are currently working with: System Memory: 8GB Video Memory: 2.2 GB CPU: 4x Dual-Core AMD64 "Bulldozer" (so, 8x cores) GPU: AMD R10xx Ports: 4x USB 3.0, 2x Ethernet Drive: Blu-Ray HDD: 160GB Audio Output: HDMI & Optical, 2.0, 5.1 & 7.1 channels For more details, check out Kotaku's full report: http://kotaku.com/5977849/the-playstation-4-has-a-new-controller-fancy-user-accounts-and-impressive-specs-so-far Click here to view the article

  24. Gaming has come a long way since I was a child. Back then you might have seen a cheesy TV commercial here or there during cartoon hour, but within the last decade the gaming industry has become larger than Hollywood. Games get massive budgets and marketing on the same scale as their movie counterparts. Each year we gravitate towards our favorite gaming sites during one of the many large expos the industry puts on looking for something new, hoping for a sequel to our favorite gaming series, or anticipating some rumor to come to fruition that was lingering around leading up to the event. Do you have any trailers throughout the years that generated unbearable excitement? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOSXkLBrRdA I never played Call of Duty 1-3. I started at COD4: Modern Warfare, it came out shortly after i purchased my first xbox 360. The game was intoxicating, it was the first game I truly got to play with friends online that didn't require a LAN in 9th grade computer class, playing in secret while the teacher was talking . I was excited about World at War despite the negativity it had received for going back to the WWII period. It was a fresh idea to me since I had never played the first 3 games. This trailer was so badass to me mostly because of the music. lol God of War was unlike anything I had played before. The insane combos, the fighting style that just destroyed everything your path, there just wasn't any action game like this before it. The Blades of Chaos were so innovative and made you feel almost unstoppable. Kratos showed no mercy and didn't fall prey to any traps that tried to appeal for pity. It instantly became my favorite single player game of all time, When I heard they were making a sequel I was glued to the computer screen hitting the refresh button on IGN's coverage of E3 waiting for the announcement to come.
