DeathscytheX reacted to Strider Hiryu in Looks like I get to play the For Honor beta this weekend, just got my code today. Can
This is my initial impressions based on Dominion with A.I. controlled enemies and A.I. or Human controlled allies (yes you can fight against the A.I., a positive for this game):
    1. You can play as any hero no matter what faction you decide to support for the Faction Wars. This is awesome since it allows you to try every hero out and choose the ones you prefer while still earning points for your chosen faction (Samurai for me but who didn't see that one coming). There's a whole War Assets thing that goes along with the Faction War but they really don't go into much in the beta about it. This is just a nice thing I wanted to point out that has nothing to do with Dominion.
    2. Combat is hard, don't let any of the videos fool you otherwise. It's extremely hard to land attacks with heroes that use slower but harder hitting weaponry as the enemy has more then enough time to block or otherwise counter your attack (if they're on a hero that can counterattack). I favor the heavy attack on the Vanguard which is why I noticed this so fast and (at least with A.I. enemy) you can see what direction their attacking from giving you time to block if they're using a slower swinging enemy. However, combat is extremely fun and intuitive. Once you get used to how it works it flows extremely well from attack to attack, trading blows or going from a block into a brutal attack. Before I got off tonight I was on an eight player (A.I. controlled) killing spree going from one enemy hero to the next. While watching Matimi0 play the other night I noticed the assassin classes are extremely squishy but attack fast and often but do a lot less damage then their heavy attacker allies. They make up for this with the ability to counterattack but I'm not entirely sure how that works.
    3. Learning to use you're heroes abilities is a must as they can turn the tide of a loosing battle greatly into your favor. Take the Vanguard for instance (the female knight you see in a lot of game play footage). Her base abilities are actually pretty powerful when used the correct way like her ability to strengthen troop morale (which can really help when trying to take a point), her ability to heal herself (up to 4 times), or her ability to call in a catapult strike (which is hilarious when used against large groups of soldiers). I only use her as an example as she's the only hero I've actually played (I plan on unlocking Orochi (the Samurai's assassin class) tomorrow when I get on it again).
    4. While you might think the A.I. would be easy to fight against you'd be dead wrong which is why I'm glad this game has the option to fight bots. They play to the hero's strengths quite well (like ambushing you as an Assassin hero or defending allies with the shield heroes). Quite honestly I feel the A.I. might be a little to good as certain heroes in an A.I.'s hands feels wrong (those shield heroes are hard to kill while being controlled by an A.I.).
    5. The maps are small but rather intricate with areas where you can easily push opponents off the side of the map to kill them. I like this as it allows the fights to get more intimate with little to no running around except between capture points. Plus the amount of detail put into the maps is extraordinary.
Honestly, as I said, these are just initial impressions. I plan on putting more time into it tomorrow between leveling my Consular in TOR and farming light for my Relic weapons in FFXIV (so close to it's final form I can taste it, plus my Guild Master wants to do some raid runs for extra light). I also plan on actually trying out Duel and Brawl (2 vs 2) as well as doing Dominion againt Human controlled heroes. I'm actually thinking of dropping the money to get this next month as it'd be a nice time waster until ME: Andromeda releases and it's a hell of a lot more fun then BF1 (and that hurts so damn much to say). I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I am but it's not as competitive as I thought it would be which is nice (I mean I can see this becoming an extremely competitive game, maybe e-sports level, but it's nice it has options for gamers like myself to play against A.I.).

I just finished this and It was probably my favorite Netflix Original. They slowly moved away from the comedy and kept it to a minimum as the story got serious. It worked well as keeping the type of comedy they used would have gotten bland with heavy usage.
I assume Netflix Original means they merely did the dub work. Between Seven Deadly Sins, Ajin, and Kuromukuro, I'd say they did a great job so far. Although they use a lot of the same talent that Funi uses. The female lead also voices Sailor Venus/Lucy Heartfilia and the male lead also voiced Vash the Stampede. I also found some familiars in the supporting cast like Milly Ashford, Inspector Zenigata, and Lelouch Lamperouge. A lot of the supporting cast hasn't done much in Funi's circle so it's nice to hear different voices every once in a while. Not everyone is as talented as Christopher Sabat.

Never even heard of it (another one that slipped by me), just got done reading a summary of it on Wikipedia. It actually sounds a lot like Log Horizon just in a different world and different circumstances (sounds like the main character is trapped in the world by himself with all the NPCs). I'll have to see if I can find fansubs for it as well, definitely sounds like a show I'd like.
The memory thing is actually a major part of the story later on in Season 2 when the players actually start realizing they're loosing their memories every time they die. At first its nothing major (insignificant stuff like names of places they used to visit and what not) but as they continue to die more and more memories disappear and they start turning into mindless Thralls (which is covered in the season 2 during one of the story arcs) who can think of nothing more then dieing in combat to get back home.

Yeah Funi doesn't divide them up by season. It was just a Playlist of 50+ eps. The only thing I didn't like was they never explained CC and VV's origins. The whole be the villian to secretly be the hero was awesome. The most gut wrenching part was Euphemia's death.

I loved all the maps because they all had a different style of play. Countdown was so open and vast, there was no camping outside of the two hangars. The smoke provided cover at times, but it you could go nuts with the M16, which was so OP if you had good aim. 1-2 burst kill from across the map with stopping power, snipers never had a chance. Downpour had so many great routes too.... and then Wetwork was the meatgrinder map. The Operation Locker/Metro of COD. If you aren't using 3 frags, you're doing it wrong. I miss my MP5 silenced.

Titanfall most likely got the biggest share of the COD pie since it plays almost exactly like COD just with more vertical movement. Halo probably ate up what was left. BF gets it's fair share of COD players but most don't stick around long enough to learn the game.
R6S is not a game COD fans would play and I state this because COD fans would never understand the basic premise of the game. It took me awhile to learn R6S and how to play it effectively. Much like Overwatch map knowledge is key to victory. Knowing entry points, where to flank, what areas of the map can be used to hold the hostage/bio-container/bombs, how to enter those rooms effectively, where camera's are located, what walls can be destroyed, and even the smallest of details. Operator knowledge is also key as you need to know what operators do what, how effectively they work with other operators, how to counter each of the operators abilities (like Mute's jammer, Valkyrie's camera's, Kapkan's trip bombs, Thermite's thermite charges, etc), what weapons the operators use and which one is more effective for the map you're on, etc. R6S is pretty much Counter-Strike with a twist and most COD players I know can't even grasp how to play CS effectively.
God I miss COD4, it was the only time I've ever been extremely good at an FPS (I'm good at BF but I'm nowhere as good at it as I was at COD4). Maps like Pipeline made it amazing. I used to camp that tunnel with my Ghost layout when I played Search and Destroy (as defense) since one of the containers was located right next to it. You don't know how many times I've wiped a whole team by doing it. Hell I used to run that path during TDM all the time since, as you said, it was rarely ever used. Most of my epic flanks are due to that tunnel. Shit my ability to go ham with the shotgun on Bog was due to my extensive knowledge of the map and how to effectively move through it (and what corners to camp, what I was a corner camper and I'm proud of it. I had the pro perk and everything (mine even had smores)). People in COD now-a-days don't want to learn the maps because all the fighting takes place in one area. Why flank when you can get right into the action and lose the battle for you're team (thank you COD for your shit players coming to BF1, it's no wonder why a lot of operations matches end in the first sector).

Overwatch probably took a nice chunk, but I think its more of every game took a piece of the pie. Overwatch is a completely different beast than the causal nature of COD. In COD, one person can win the whole match for their team, in Overwatch that's impossible. Overwatch probably took a lot of TF2 players as its more that type of game. There is a lot of strategy involved, unlike COD where its all about having the best twitch reflexes and exploiting spawns.
The thing that has always struck me about COD is player's lack of map awareness. My success in that series was predicated on that. I often used map routes that no one bothered traveling. After all, no action took place there, so it was a "boring" part of the map. Using those paths, I'd easily get the flank and demolish the enemy team, and they'd never discover what I was doing. My favorite example of this was a map on COD4 called Pipeline. It took place in an abandoned oil refinery. The map was your standard 3 building map with a rail way, and some cement tubes and metal sheet fencing. There was also a network of tunnels under the map that had 3 access points. One access point was in the middle of one of the warehouses. Even so, no one ever used the tunnels. In hundreds of matches, I only ever saw someone else down there maybe 3 times. For me, It was a quick way to get to the opposite side of the map and come up behind the enemy, and then quickly escape. I used this tactic on the map forever and I still talk about it with the friends I played that game with to this day. It was so effective that I replicated it on several other maps that had a similar design. (Highrise on MW2 comes to mind). Everyone wants to run to the center of the map and shoot at each other with no tactics in mind. In OW, you have to know the map, where the health packs are, and where to go to flank, and chances are you'll have to fight you way through a path to get to where you want to go.

You're partly right. They've let the game get stale with a complete lacking of new ideas. It's either the same old thing, or another game's idea. They've forgotten how to make outstanding maps and decent gun balance. Instead they've recycled, mixed, matched, and divided up their perk systems into a overly complex mess more jacked up than the US tax codes. Perks use to deliver balance while complementing your style of play. Now it's just a way to close the gap between noobs and decent to good players.
When you get killed because of some bullshit that required no skill, and there was very little you could do to counter it, that isn't fun. It all started with death streaks, and now it's just sewn into the perks. What they've done is gotten rid of the middle class of COD. players like me that were really good at the game, but not pro level good. Now COD is filled with shit players and God like players with no middle ground.  If you jump in you're either going to be on a team that rekts or you're going to be rekted.
They abandoned their core audience to long and where trying to reach a base they had no business catering to. Now with Overwatch, Titanfall, Halo, R6S, BF, and Gears of War saturating the market, those players that made COD what it was have moved on to something else. There is a lot more competition than 10 years ago.

Yeah, its not about who is most qualified sadly, its about who can fundraiser. Except Trump, he didn't raise anywhere near the amount of money Clinton did. Instead he trolled the media into giving him all the air time, and now they're all scratching their heads wondering how he won. This election proved the saying of "All press is good press".
