  1. Nope, Halo franchise is owned exclusively by Microsoft and as such probably won't be going to any other console (read the split article, Microsoft owns any and all rights to Halo at the moment. Bungie is still under contract with Microsoft for anything Halo related, outside of that Bungie is free to do what they want with any other games they create).

Man I never thought I'd see that again. Damn you Sledge and your unearthing of traumatic memories.

  2. goku it's my personality. When it comes to Gundam I have the problem of comparing new ones to older ones, it's got nothing to do with bias. I hold Gundam up an a pretty high pillar and as such I'm a hard ass when it comes to the series. Once I notice similarities to others or notice a formula being recycled I start bad mouthing it. It's a bad habit of mine that probably won't change. I have high hopes for Gundam 00, which have yet to be reached. Every other Gundam I've watched has been able to hook me on the first episode (Wing, SEED, Destiny, and G Gundam being exceptions) so I expect others to do the same. In my eyes Gundam 00 will not reach these expectations however should it in the next three episodes you'll be damned sure that I'll be talking nothing but good things about it.

Like I said, it's my warped personality and my inner fanboy talking. Like I said when it comes to Gundam you'll see me get very nasty about my opinion on it if it doesn't interest me.

On a side note you don't sound like an ass, it's your opinion of my words (which I do agree they sound pretty bias, even if I'm not being bias).

  3. I think it's set up that way goku. I highly doubt they'd have them declare what they did at the start if they didn't plan on having the AEU, Union, and that other faction (name escapes me at the moment) going after Celestial Being from the get go. Seriously making that kind of statement is bound to rub the higher ups in each group the wrong way.

I'll stick by my statement that we're recycling Wing's Gundam formula. True they're each good at one thing or one set of things (Exia = Melee, Dynames (sp?) = Long-range support, Virtue = Artillery/Heavy Gunner, and Kyrios = Flexibility/Air-support/etc), hence why they're teamed up (Setsuna/Lockon for melee/ranged offensives and Virtue/Kyrios for flexibility/artillery (though I suspect they do variations of this throughout the show)), but still something rubs me the wrong way by how easily they can get by (true, they use a whole different system for moving (GN Particle (Minovsky rip-off maybe?)). Call me bias or quick to judge but thats the feel I get from the first episode, it just seems to be the new formula for Gundam since Tomino stepped down (yes I'm biased toward his works, he's the original creator so his shows will always be far superior to the new ones in my book).

Like I said I won't judge it till we're four episodes in (which is my cut-off for anime, if I'm not interested by then I won't get interested). If this fails to keep to my expectations then the new Macross definitely will (there has yet to be a Macross that I haven't liked, again probably because of the whole transforming thing).

  4. Sadly it failed to impress me with the first episode. It seems we're recycling the whole "Gundams are super-powerful, everything else pails in comparison" formula from Wing (and possibly SEED, can't comment on it since I dropped SEED at episode 10 and didn't watch Destiny). Characters are somewhat bland outside of Lockon (yes I know, I mocked him earlier but I actually like his character. He seems pretty damn cool) and his Haro.

Gundam designs kinda suck. Exia looks alright and Kyrios (sp?) is pretty tight (have always had a thing for transformable Gundams hence why I love the Zeta Gundam). Virtue is too damn bulky and I don't like the design overall. Lockon's Gundam (I know the name, just don't want to butcher the spelling), though I like the concept of a long-range purpose Gundam, is rather lacking.

Story has an interesting premise though I'm not all for this whole "We're going to stop all war with our awesome military might" crap Celestial Being is spouting. I do like how we're not recycling the whole Earth vs. Space Colonies plot though. The whole three factions on Earth thing seems like a pretty good concept, lets hope they don't fuck it up by destroying it.

Overall it's not a bad start. At this moment I don't think I'll continue watching it beyond episode 4 (which if it doesn't grab my attention or make me want to see more I'm going to drop it). I just feel it's lacking what made the original Gundam so awesome.

O.o I'll take some of that cheesecake there GG, sounds really good right about now.

  5. *chains Epples up and throws him in a corner*

Be nice now before I have to get out my bat.

Welcome to the insanity and do enjoy your stay. Do remember to keep all limbs within the ride at all time. Don't want you loosing any limbs while you're here (on that note we are not liable for any and all damage suffered during your stay).

  6. lol, they look down on snipers in most FPS's today. Seriously I've had to change gears and because an all out nut now when I play them. Never did get into the CS craze. Friends in college tried to get me into it but I've never been a fan of PC based FPS's. Something about the control scheme always rubbed me the wrong way.

  7. Heh, Halo as far as online goes sucks compared to COD4 (compared to the beta mp of Halo 3 before it was released COD4 MP is far superior, my opinion only though. I haven't played the multiplayer on Halo 3 retail yet and COD4's MP is bound to change by the time it gets released but the beta was so freaking awesome). Gah, I can't wait to get my hands on COD4.

Half-Life never really had much of a multiplayer game to begin with. Story was great in both games (own 1, have seen 2 in action while watching friends play it) but mp was alway lacking in both.

Gah, don't speak of AC6 DX. I want it so bad but of course it's coming out right after I move 1800 miles away from home with no money. I won't be able to get it right when it comes out. *cries* Why is it coming out then? Why can't it come out a few months after I move when I can afford it? Gah, I'm gonna be pissed when everyone else has beaten it and I haven't even played it yet. The gaming industry must hate me or something, releasing all these games I want so close to my move date (Halo 3 and AC6, COD4 comes out in November so I should be able to afford it).

Seriously Myk don't get offended by anything DX says. As he just said above he offers nothing but the truth.

  8. Beyond freaking awesome! Then again this is just my opinion and I personally love the show to death. It's got a lot of style and an interesting, underlying plot that has hooked me. Plus Hei and Mao are beyond awesome and who can't love Yin.

Anyways I digress. If only Syndicate would get their butts in gear and sub the last three episodes, it's unbearable waiting for them knowing that another group has already finished it.

  9. *Edit*

I never posted no one should buy Halo 3 for the Xbox 360. I never posted anyone should become a PC Gamer just because I am. I just stated my personal preferance & a chunk of people were all the sudden complaining as if PC Gaming is the Anti-Christ & that I should have nothing to do with it. There the ones that want to pull this thread off its topic because if they wanted to talk about Halo 3 they just talk about it.

Don't really know what brought this on Myk but we're not saying you said any of the above (I'm only guessing someone came after you in PM's). Topic got slightly off-topic with the Halo on PC remark we both made. No need to get overly defensive. None of us are complaining that PC Gaming is the Anti-Christ, a good majority of us in this topic are PC Gamers as well as console gamers (I myself am both, I just prefer consoles more because I don't have to spend thousands of dollars keeping up to date with stuff).

The first Halo was pure gold, I still enjoy playing it to this day (even though I've beaten it well over 100 times, both the XBox and PC versions (yes I own both)). Personally it's the best out of the series. It had the best multiplayer imo also. Nothing was better then getting together with 16 friends and having a huge LAN party (Gah, I miss those days in high school) with four X-Boxes, 4 copies of the game, and 16 controllers. Oh the fun times that were had. Halo 2 failed to live up to the hype. The game just stagnates after the first few levels and the story just sucks (I know, playing an FPS for story is odd but I do). The multiplayer wasn't that great (well it was fun, I only did multiplayer at ACEN when I went in 2005) and a lot of the good weapons were scrapped in it (to this day I'm still pissed the original pistol was taken out for that crappy ass Magnum). I've been hearing nothing but good things about Halo 3 but I can't take those opinions at face value since I'm hearing them from Halo fanboys/girls since fan opinions are always biased toward liking it. Since I can't afford it I won't be buying it for awhile but I'd really like to hear an opinion on the game from someone who isn't a huge fan of the series and see what they think (sadly I don't think I'll be able too, everyone and their mom just loves Halo).

  10. Well no one said you had to buy a 360 just for those games, I was just pointing out how long it took Halo 2 to reach the PC (and to begin with Halo 2 was a horrible game, I kick myself everyday for buying the limited edition of it when it came out (was not worth that much money)). I bought a 360 for the reason that it doesn't pay to game on the computer anymore. Every year the games keep getting more and more advanced making it hard for people to buy and play them. Plus, imho, the 360 is the best console on the market right now (hate me, burn me at the stake, whatever you want but it's the way I feel. The Wii isn't worth buying imo (nothing it has out is worth buying a Wii for and SSBB certainly is not worth buying a Wii for when it comes out) and the PS3 just isn't worth the money).

In the long run PC gamers spend more money just upgrading their machines to keep up with games. A console you buy once, don't have to upgrade it, and it's good until the new one comes out (sometimes past that) because the games are made to use what the console has to offer, not what new parts and new things have to offer. I'd go bankrupt trying to keep up with the PC game market (and it's sad, the only good RTS games out there are for the PC and I can't play them anymore because my laptop is too old to handle the requirements for the new one (I really want World in Conflict but my PC won't be able to handle it)). PC gaming just isn't worth it anymore.

Now lets turn the topic back to what it was intended for, talking about Halo 3's success.

  11. ANN has better news. They're just dropping anything they were doing anime related as of today actually. This is following the drop of their plans to let ADV do their marketing and sales (no news as to why this fell through, Geneon and ADV reps are keeping their mouths shut).

It's not to surprising really since Geneon was taking so many huge leaps of faith with the anime they were licensing as of late (most of their newer titles have fallen into the anime aimed heavily at Otaku). I'm still sad to see them drop out though considering Geneon was one of the better companies in the anime licensing game. Now we have to rely solely on Bandai, Viz, ADV, and Funimation (*shudder*).

Guess that means I should really get around to buying that last DearS DVD that I have yet to buy (only title I'm currently buying that Geneon has licensed and released stateside).

  12. Yea, bad idea. Considering I was never a fan of the Terminator movies (One was ok, two was eh, three just sucked) I doubt I'll watch this (plus whats Terminator without the Governator).

This is kinda like the Robocop series. Took a good movie (I loved Robocop as a kid, still do) and turned it into a half-assed TV series that was hardly worth watching.

As DX put it, TV went down the crap shoot years ago. Tis the main reason why I've hardly watched TV for the last 6 years (I watch for the occasional good movie and some good shows (Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, and Deadliest Catch to name a few)).

  13. Welcome to the insanity! Do enjoy your stay here and remember to keep your arms within the ride at all times. Don't want you loosing any limbs while you're here.

I'd warn you of the noob eaters but it looks like thats been taken care of all ready.
