  1. It certainly isn't going to make our problems worse. I'm not a religious person but if it's something he feels he must do to prepare himself for the shit storm he has to clean up I don't see the problem.

Seriously, whats the big deal. He's probably not even going to be able to fix most of the problems in 4 years. He's got two wars to clean up after and a whole slew of economic and foreign affairs problems to get remedied. The poor guy probably needs all the strength he can get, even if it's misplaced. Frick I wouldn't even want the job after what Bush turned it into.

  2. I honestly don't think it has anything to do with code names since Saji gets his full name called a lot and has no code name lol. Same happens whenever someone's facing off against an opponent that they know the name of, they say the full name lol.

Eh, really the only one I notice doing this on a regular basis is Setsuna and Tieria. Others don't seem to do it so much as I don't remember seeing the new Lockon or Alleujah doing it. Then again if you look at the two of them they have some issues that could be the root of it, something not really worth going into.

Remember Kuwa only two people actually know who Sumeragi actually is and they were friends/colleagues in the past so it's not surprising they would call her that. Plus those two are rather normal compared to the cast we have this season. Plus we have to admit the Meisters don't really know each other that well, this is one of the problemsI alluded to above with Tieria and Setsuna (the two who seem to do this all the time). They seem to use it to keep a distance from others (something Tieria is getting over slowly and something that seems to be getting worse for Setsuna (who thought he was the gundam last season, kids screwed up in the head)).

I don't even want to know whats up with the Innovator names, hell I'm still trying to figure out their point in being in this show. It's like we can't have a Gundam anymore without having that special sect of people that have a special set of powers (Newtype syndrome much?). You gotta admit though some of those names are rather hilarious plus relooking at the name it seems they are alluding to something, their purpose probably (as in the Innovators pupose as a whole, I mean Revive Revival and Bring Stability seem to allude to thier purpose).

  3. Generally code names (as what those names are) are said in full but usually only during communications. Why they say it all the damn time when they see each other in person is confusing as hell.

I doubt it's because they're not friends because Setsuna, Tieria, and Alleujah all recognize each other as comrades and friends through what they've been through but it would make sense in Lockon's case as he's the newbie in the group (and somewhat of an outsider as we've noticed). They don't really except him yet and everyone is still having problems with the whole him looking like his brother thing.

All I know is after the last episode (14) it's getting damn interesting now.

  4. Eh, I'll get happy when Obama starts actually remedying our problems. Until then this is just like every other year and every other inauguration, just that we're getting rid of an idiot and hopefully replacing him with someone better (still yet to be proven).

  5. That it does, I watched it the day they released the battle report. Looks like they're really focusing on the fast game this time around because the speed has picked up a bit from the original Starcraft. I see multiplayer games going at a lot faster pace then they used to.

  6. Horrible Subs is still going to carry on by the looks of it once DB stops (which should be now, I believe their last episode was 91 which just came out) and DB seems to support them, whether their quality is good or not I can't say. I'll download theirs next week and see. If the quality isn't that good then I guess I'll be dropping the show earlier then I anticipated. I think there is one other group out there also doing it but their name escapes me atm.

  7. I feel your pain Sledge, same for me. I have very little time to watch anime so I get backed up pretty easily but I make sure to keep up to date on Gundam (one of the few shows I actually will make time for).

  8. A sore back and legs from work today (really who invented grocery carts, they're foul demon spawn out to get me). Other then that a whole lot of nothing. On the good side though I have the apartment to myself as my roommates are out of town so I guess that's a Christmas gift in itself.

    Anyways Merry Christmas AC!

  9. I used to donate shortly after joining them back in Feb. of 2007 (to watch Naruto Shippuden ironically) and did it roughly for 6 months. When they switched over to providing HD anime and unlimited bandwidth to all viewers I stopped as it was pointless to pay to get access to something that was now free to all viewers.

Considering I detest streaming anime and the prices they're offering for instant access (I only do it in those rare cases that I can't actually find a downloadable version (like with Macross 7 and Dirty Pair (now of which I've found tons)) I doubt I'll pay to even get access to what they're offering now (12.99 for a month of anime streaming is to expensive imo, especially considering during the month I maybe watch anime on anywhere between 5-10 days (pending on work schedule and homework/project work load).

I'll stick to my downloading, even if it is getting harder to find subs these days with everyone breathing down fansubber's necks and the fact that everything is getting licensed shortly after it starts.

  10. I will give BioWare credit, their classes/skill sets/feat sets/powers outdo WoW on just about everything because of the detail put into it (remember Kite, KoToR was based off of D&D mechanics, you can't get any better then that. WoW has a good thing going for it but really their classes are bland and everyone follows the same build, theres no unique builds). The only thing BioWare has to worry about, as Epples pointed out, is implementing this class based system on a wider scale (something beyond what WoW has).

As I said it won't kill WoW, hell it won't even put a dent in the player base. Everyone will try it like they did WAR but I'm sure they won't give up WoW for good. Hell I quite WoW just before Wrath hit and am now playing FFXI and I'm debating about going back to WoW again. Then again thats just preference in playstyle but I like to try every little thing I can.

And technically WoW is just Everquest with different lore, if you look at the development team for WoW over half of them are from the original Everquests development team (hell two of the most well known team members, Tigole and Foror, were EQ addicts) so WoW didn't change the face of MMO's, it just modified the way people look at them now. One of my old friends (who player EQ and WoW religiously) told me he noticed more similarities and blatant copying in WoW then new mechanics between the two.

Again, I've been following this title since they announced it months ago but I'm skeptical about how it will do. My gut feeling says it'll flop (based on what I've learned so far in school and my knowledge of how publishers and the game industry work).

  11. Sadly enough, though the concept interests me, this will flop. After watching the trailer and listening to what they were saying theres no way they can get half of the crap they said they'd have in it in. You'll looking at a pretty long and extensive beta to get all that in (which most publishers just aren't going to be to keen on) and working correctly (unless they pull a Blizzard and release a buggy game snd fix it as they go).

Also it doesn't even look like an MMO persay, atm it looks more like a D2 style of play (thats just now, when more footage and information is released that will most likely change).

More then likely I don't see this making it that far should it be released. WoW dominates the MMO market right now, so much so that Conan and Warhammer barely put a dent in it's player base (hell, most people I know that left for WAR came back to WoW within a month because of lack of things to do in the end game).

I could be wrong and this could be a break away hit but I'm skeptical it will actually do well. Plus I'm not hip on the everyone being a Jedi/Sith, kind of takes away the novelty of the lore and what not. Just my 2 cents.

  12. They're already starting to give most fans what they want by allowing free streaming now (crunchyroll and all the anime it can stream now is a big example of this) and if what they're doing with Naruto on the 15th of Jan catches on we'll probably be seeing high quality streams of anime subbed/dubbed within a week of it airing. For the industry as a whole this is a good thing, in their minds, as it'll kill fansubs and direct more attention towards the companies (though offering free streams will kill them in the long run revenue wise). Plus the cease and desist thing has been plaguing fansubbers forever, it's just gotten worse recently with the advent of streaming anime online (and companies insistance on licensing anime before it's even finished airing).

As a whole I could care less these days. I have little to no time to watch anime anymore (1 to 2 days a week) and I'm having to cut back on the amount of shows I pick up each season because of this. If this was going on a year and a half ago my opinion would probably be different. It's a good move on the industries part in killing illegal fansubs but on the other hand it's not that great of a move for fans as some shows will never get picked up (sad but true). Double edged sword for them, something they'll find out quite fast as sales get killed off (and we all know that they're only interested in the money).

  13. I don't know, there was a pretty big war at the beginning on here even before the Wii and PS3 came out. DX was ranting on how PS3 would win because of it's graphics and processor power XD. Now it looks like he's pretty much neutral :P.

BTW. They're using Cg (ie. a C derivative) for their graphics multi-process system on the PS3. It's more or less similar to programming on a PC in C. Programmers bitch becuse they're not used to Cg or the API Sony created for the PS3. There's also a lot of ASM coding involved when working with C and the PS3. The PS3 is just far more stickter to code for then what game system programmers are used too. The up side is it's easy for them to port their PS3 games to Xbox :).

C in itself is a pain in the ass, having a C derivative is just making it worse on us game programmers (I just had the pleasure of learning C++ last term in school, quite frankly I prefer Java programming. C is just an evil little mistress that hates you, even when you get the coding right). As I said the PS3 is just a bitch to code for, something my teachers have been pointing out left and right since I started my coding block of classes.

Bah, I was the same. I was preaching about the PS3 just like DX now I'm practically neutral with more of a taste for the 360 then the others (though I hate the Wii with a passion). I still miss the debates from the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox generation, they were more heated.

It is a good thing this generation is forcing more of a multiplatform attitude because look at the games coming out lately, a lot are being forced to go multiplatform but the exclusives per consoles are making people go out and buy the others (hell I want a PS3 so I can play Resistance, my freaking classmates have been flipping out about the 2nd one since it came out).

  14. It's not just the quality control issues that developers face either with the PS3, it's the damn coding (PS3 is all Unix based which makes it a bitch to code for if your going multi-platform as it's the only Unix based system) and the cost of the developers kit for the thing (thats whats really driving developers away from the console, the kit for the PS3 is $4000 more then the 360 one). Sony really did themselves in with the PS3.

I don't even think Microsoft knows what their doing with the damn Avatars they gave us. Really they're useless outside of like 5 arcade games and aren't even necessary for anything else (O.o look we can dress them up and do chat parties, whoopdie freaking do). Atleast Nintendo has a plan for their little avatars and Sony's Playstation Home going to blow the 360 Avatar system out of the water.

I don't consider this generation a console war at all and if I did it would only be between the 360 and PS3 in my book (the Wii is just a Gamecube with a new, innovative controller and it doesn't even target the majority of the market, the hardcore gamers) so I feel there is no winner. Just three consoles who's companies have made some good and bad choices over the last few years. If anything, game wise, 360 has this generation cornered as it's library is rather impressive and getting better as we continue. Graphics wise I won't even comment because to me theres no difference in graphics between the PS3 and 360 (just lighting and minor texture differences as of now, I know the true power of the system hasn't been tapped yet so don't even go there with me). Bah, I miss last generation where posts like this were more heated and there was actually a war (even if it was dominated by Sony's PS2).

  15. I watched the trailer last night on my 360. I have the same thoughts as Dubie, I don't think I can see this movie without considering it an AU story because that completely and I mean completely kills the original ST Universe.

It looks pretty and all but still I just don't think I can throw my love for the original to see this movie, it's just to flashy and different.

  16. Eh, I watch it more for the idiotic content now as I find the fan service to be overly excessive and the lack of plot kinda annoys me. All it really has is the comedy going for it (which isn't a bad thing, it's extremely funny) but it just leaves one wanting more (especially in a season with a lot of great titles (Clannad After Story, Season 2 of Gundam 00, etc.)).

Overall the first season kinda sucked and the second season is proving to me much more hilarious with the addition of Moka's sister but really it's just not that good. Almost wishing I'd of washed my hands clean of it when the first season started to go downhill but I'll stick with it until the end (more or less because I want to see what effect Moka had on Tsukune at the end of S1 (no I am not reading the manga, no time and I got enough manga backed up the way it is)).

  17. Absolutely love the series and the movie was pretty fucking awesome. It's odd though because when it originally aired I refused to watch it because it just seemed like a bad ripoff of Outlaw Star (it's what I thought from trailers). Glad I was wrong.

Actually bought the series boxset about a month ago (just had to for $40, was a good deal).

  18. Scary, I'm being thanked for something. I think the world imploded (j/k).

Heh, always up for debating if you ever want to go at it Kuwa. Glad to have you back btw, was beginning to wonder if you died or something.
