I do believe intelligent life exists beyond our solar system. However, I think they'd have better things to do than hang around and buzz Earth. Plus, I gotta say, all the conspiracy theories about how aliens are responsible for our culture and all that (like they built the pyramids) is something I find a little insulting. That's basically saying that humans are NOT capable of coming up with good, unique ideas for themselves. We might have picked up a few things from crashed technology, but I like to give us a little more credit than saying that humans got all our technology and culture from aliens.

Actually reverse engineering is quite real, and is practiced heavily among the superpowers. Its mostly our stuff that gets reversed engineered when it's shot out of the sky.

You can tear anything apart and figure out how to make one or something very similar to it. You'd be surprised how much real science is used in post 80's sci-fi. They still use a lot of creative licenses, but there is a heavy scientific influence, because these writers actually go and study physics among other things.

Just the look of some of those planes is so... spaceship~ish.

OK... now that, that is over Here's the rest of 12... One time I had a dirty thought on a girl I had a crush on... Now usually I think of various girls I knew that I'd only get horny over. But I didn't feel like treating this girl the way I treat the rest. For a moment having dirty thoughts about about only one girl felt like the right thing to do... Until I heard the word "STOP!" in my head from that girl. For a moment I constantly thought of the word "Sorry". This girl started to hate me more after that. And sometime later I heard from a bus driver who heard from the principal that she thinks I'm a rapist. I did have a short talk to the principal about this, but he said that he never said that. So whether or not it happened on most days I just assume it didn't, but just in case I don't get horny over girls I know.

OMG! This is as good when a publishing company accidentally crossed Japanese nude massage books with a Barney Pop-Up book. We had to scramble to pull them off shelves. I couldn't help but get curious and pull back the pop-up image and see two naked Japanese people rubbing each other.

The basis of the Movie was than an Alien representative comes to earth because other planets fear humanity's violence and their recent obtainment of atomic power. In this process, the Alien was shot by a scared solider, he recovered in a hospital and healed up mingled with the population and observed how cruel human nature was. Upon leaving he stated that Humans would not be allowed to travel in space unless they get their act together, and if they didn't Earth would be destroyed.

It was basically a message to fit a time of nuclear crisis back then.

I didn't even know they were remaking the 1951 classic. If they stay true to the original story (The director claims to be a huge fan of the original), I guess its appropriate for the times we live in.
