  1. Really, the cartoon was cheesy. You really don't need a complex plot of this film. All you need is Baroness being hot (which they've seemed to have done), and have a lot of action and explosions. Throw some mediocre acting, and you got yourself G.I. JOE. There are no Grammy nominating performances for this one. Strictly over the top 80's action goodness. X'D

By the Power of Grayskull! We've Got a Director

    Source: Variety

    January 29, 2009

Variety has confirmed Latino Review's scoop that Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver have set Kung Fu Panda co-director John Stevenson to make his live action directing debut on Masters of the Universe, a re-imagining of the signature Mattel toy line.

He-Man is a brawny prince who transforms into a warrior who becomes the last hope for a magical land called Eternia, which is being ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor.

Silver is producing through his Silver Pictures and Mattel's Barry Waldo will be executive producer.

WB acquired the property in 2007, and Justin Marks wrote the first draft of the script based on a story he wrote with Neil Ellice.

The Mattel property became iconic by way of the 1980s cartoon series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," and the property was previously turned into a 1987 film starring Dolph Lungdren as He-Man and Frost/Nixon star Frank Langella as the villainous Skeletor.

Stevenson said he made up his mind when he went to Mattel headquarters and was shown into a secret lair that contained the visuals created by the toymaker staff.

"There was this locked bunker that you had to be escorted into," Stevenson said. "It was filled with art, some generated by the Mattel artists, and I looked around, and said, 'I get it.' We started formulating a specific vision for costumes, creatures, architecture, and the creation of a mythology and look for a whole world we'll create."

  3. I live in Alabama and DX pretty much right on XD Just earlier I saw a car with the whole engine exposed, presumably from a wreck, the back windshield missing and the left door missing. I have seen the vehicle a few times and it's a rather old sedan. The fact that it compensated by using plastic garbage bags to cover up the missing door and window must have made it alright.

LMAO, one of those. Maybe one tail light was working?

Yes there are many cars that are on the road, that are hazardous to other drivers. It was just 2 years ago where the state finally required insurance for drivers. Speed limits are suggestions, you have to be going at least 20 miles over the limit to get pulled over, and even then, they only write you for going 5-10 over. X'D

Gas is back down to $1.60, about ever 3rd car you see on the road has thick black exhaust puffing out the tail pipe. You would have a seizure Lady. X'D

You actually become a very good driver down here however, turn signals seem to be optional, as well as fixing your break lights. x_X You become very aware, because you never know when someone is gonna decide to turn into a neighborhood when your zooming down the road at 60mph.

  4. There are no inspections in the state of Alabama, you just go to the DMV, or to the website, pay the fee and get your tag renewed. People here don't believe in taxes for anything. Our schools suffer because of it, along with a great many other things. For every 1 car you see on the road around here you see 5 pickup trucks. Its pretty much the same in Mississippi, and I'm sure in other deep south states. The market for trucks are a lot bigger in the south than it is in Cali. I doubt it would affect their truck market very much. SUV's however is a different story.

Dubi brings up an interesting point. There should be a federal reward system for setting standards. Such as tax revenue for the state. The south wouldn't pass up on free money.

  5. Yeah, but some states will slack off and set minimual standards, while some will set stronger ones. There needs to be some kind of minimual standard set by the government, and the states can add onto if they can.

Exactly. In fact most states will slack off. California is pretty lonely on this one. The south will not follow suit, if anything they'd lax it even more. There are A LOT of truck drivers down here.

  6. looks like a bird to me, it came in on an angle so it was probably diving to star with. After that it still had momentem to come out of it on a level glide at a pretty fast rate. Besides, any advanced and inteligent life out there would already know we aren't worth looking in on. After all we can't even really pick up after ourselves and all we do is bicker and ruin things. So why waste their valuable time?

Who is to say intelligent life is all high and mighty? Who's to say they aren't like in Independence Day?

  7. That's what people are commenting on youtube, but in perspective, that's a large distance to cover in that short of time for a bird. It just disappears before it reaches the end of the screen.

Hopefully someone can get some hi-tech picturing and magnify it.

  8. Eh, I'll get happy when Obama starts actually remedying our problems. Until then this is just like every other year and every other inauguration, just that we're getting rid of an idiot and hopefully replacing him with someone better (still yet to be proven).

That's the best thing I've heard will all this ridiculous hoopla.

Warner Bros. and Fox Settle Watchmen Dispute

    Source: The Hollywood Reporter

    January 16, 2009

Warner Bros. and Fox have resolved their dispute over Watchmen, with the studios scheduled to present the settlement to Judge Gary Feess on Friday morning and request that the case be dismissed, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Terms of the agreement will not be disclosed, but it is said to involve a sizable cash payment to Fox and a percentage of the film's box office. Fox will not be a co-distributor on the film, nor will it own a piece of the Watchmen property going forward. The studios are set to release a joint statement announcing the agreement Friday.

Fox sued Warners in February of 2008, claiming copyright infringement based on agreements the studio had with producer Larry Gordon. Feess ruled on Dec. 24 that Gordon did not secure the proper rights to Watchmen from Fox before shopping the project and eventually setting it up with Warners. Feess' decision prompted settlement talks to heat up because Warners faced the prospect of an injunction stopping its March 6 release of the $130 million comic book adaptation.

While Gordon is not a party to the case, Warners is said to be pursuing the producer and his attorneys to reimburse it for the costs of the settlement.

UPDATE: Here is the official statement from both studios...

Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox have resolved their dispute regarding the rights to the upcoming motion picture Watchmen in a confidential settlement. Warner Bros acknowledges that Fox acted in good faith in bringing its claims, which were asserted prior to the start of principal photography. Fox acknowledges that Warner Bros. acted in good faith in defending against those claims Warner Bros. and Fox, like all Watchmen fans, look forward with great anticipation to this film's March 6 release in theatres.

You Won't Play Final Fantasy XIII Until 2010

Waiting for the latest instalment in the Final Fantasy series? Great! You just keep on waiting, because Square Enix boss Yoichi "Imperial Hot" Wada has said it won't be out in the West until 2010.

Speaking with Reuters, Wada confirms that while the Japanese release of Final Fantasy XIII (which is exclusive to the PS3) will take place in 2009, the Western release - which will appear on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 - won't go down until at least April 2010.

Or, in a way I can put it to maximize disappointment, over a year away.
