  1. The dub of first ep of My Hero Academia Season 3 finally came out so I caught up on the first four. Holy crap, they aren't wasting any time this season. Shit is already going down! Finished Garo Vanishing Line. It was really good, I want a second season of this era, and they left it open for one. I'm pretty pumped about the movie that takes place in the first era though. Overlord Season 2 was kind of a let down for me. The action was still good but it felt like the season had no real beginning or end... it was like the middle of a season, and there was no apparent turning point or climax. The lizard people happened, and then this whole thing with six arms... but nothing was resolved. Hopefully season 3 is more structured.

And I just finished Season 2 of Blood Blockade Battlefront. Pretty fun little series. Decent mix of humor and action.

      Strider Hiryu

Season 2 of Overlord is a lot of setup for whats to come in the next season (Ainz has some pretty big plans according to what I've read). I'm not expecting a lot of action for season 3 or at least the first half but I'm sure we'll be rewarded quite handsomely (if they adapt the chapters in order like they have been). Like I said before things should get quite a bit more interesting going forward.

I have my hero academia and flcl set to record on my dvr. Im looking forward to watching both series. :D

  2. Just finished season 1 of Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans. I enjoyed it, but man I can't help but notice the parallels with Gundam Wing. A young female working for peace, a semi-emotionless male pilot, an antagonist that disguises himself with a mask in a red mobile suit? XD Eh, maybe I'm looking too much into it, there are more differences than similarities. Since CN has the broadcast rights, I hope Funi eventually gets season 2 on stream... its the only Gundam they have. I will say I'm not the biggest fan of the designs on this one. I liked Gusion and EB-AX2, but that was about it.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Except for the whole fact IBO is gorey as fuck and deals with child soldiers it mirrors Wing perfectly :P

IBO is pretty fucking good. The end fight (of S2) is pretty fucking epic. Probably my third favorite AU Gundam after X and Turn A.

Besides the Barbatos I can't stand the designs of the Gundams, they're either bulky as fuck or underdesigned.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I hated Barbatos at first when it had no mid section and the frame was exposed. XD Hopefully Funi gets Season 2 because I'd def like to watch it. Normally when CN gets the rights it takes months for Funi to have it if its not a simuldub. I forgot how long I had to wait for Space Dandy Season 2 but it was a long fucking time.

I haven't even watched the first Ep of My Hero Academia yet because the ep shipped late to funi and they didn't have time to dub it on schedule, so they just put up the sub until next week. XD Yeah I'm too particular about my dubs.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Was going to say you could always watch the sub on CR but I know you prefer to watch your dubs, why I'll never know (I mean subs are far superior (j/k)).

Just wait till you see Barbatos's upgrade, that suit is beyond amazing looking (it gets two upgrades in S2, last one is fucking amazing and beyond deadly). Funi has the S2 license but as you said they probably won't stream it until CN is done airing it (which is retarded but meh, CN be greedy). I might end up actually buying it once S2 is released on BD that's how much I enjoyed the show. Not entirely happy by how it ended (I mean I saw it coming a mile away as it's pretty much spelled out throughout the entirety of S2) but I'm generally never happy by how shows end (Gundam shows in particular).

  3. I caught up on Overlord's season 2 simuldub. So far it's entertaining but all over the place. There isn't as much action so far which is disappointing. All these characters are so OP, but that was what was great about season 1. Especially since Ainz vs. Shalltear was an amazing finale with two ultra OP characters going at it like a chess game. However I figure everything happening now is leading up to something bigger. They're spending more time world building in season 2 in which they did very little of in season 1. Plus season 3 was ordered. People can say what they want about Funi, but I bet there are some series out there that would have never been renewed past it's first season 6-8 years ago. Props to netflix too even though their series are hit and miss. I finished A.I.C.O. Incarnation last night, while it didn't blow me away, I enjoyed it.. same goes for ID-0. It's come a long way from Toonami, spending days downloading stuff off Limewire and torrents, or staying up til 4am in hopes Sci-Fi played Akira or Vampire Hunter D

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Overlord was pretty much saved by the fans and Funi (was extremely happy to see it was green lit for a 3rd season). Season 2 has been hit or miss (still haven't watched ep 13 yet (see CR just put it up), I'll watch it Friday night when I continue watching Steins;Gate) but considering what they're building toward shit will get interesting next season (yea, I read ahead on the wiki for it so I already know whats going to happen). Plus seeing Sebas kick some serious ass has been a high point for me this season (and seeing Cocytus wipe the floor with those lizard people was fucking awesome). I still miss the action of season 1 but this has been a fun trip so far plus it's nice to see them do some character building, I felt last season didn't really introduce the character well enough (well the human ones, though I do wish they'd go into who Victim is a little more then they have. Based on what the wiki says he's the most powerful NPC in Nazerick with the exception of one that has yet to be introduced).

I haven't given anything on Netflix the time of day considering most of what they're producing just doesn't interest me. I give them props for giving original anime a shot but they all pretty much follow the same formula. Shit I still download shit thought I will admit I do a lot less then I did 3 years ago, Crunchyroll has spoiled me too much with all they're getting recently (I'm like a kid in a candy store with all the shit they're getting licenses for).

Kuromukuro was the best thing they've come out with so far IMO. The rest is very mediocre besides AJIN maybe.

  4. So far Netflix is 1 for 3 on their new series. Sword Gai was ok, but it was more like a GARO/Guyver type clone. B: The Beginning could have been better written. Maybe its the story structure that is throwing me off as they are definitely more western in flow. I'll probably watch both for another season. Children of the Whales was pretty enjoyable and my favorite of the three. I definitely look forward for its most definite second season. It was pretty charming in a Studio Ghibli way.

  5. ANIME OVERLOAD!!! What a time to be alive! Netflix has 4 new anime that I I'll give a shot Starting with SWORDGAI and B: The Beginning. New Full Metal Panic and My Hero Academia coming soon. Dragon Ball Super is still being dubbed, and I'm currently enjoying the new Basiliks along with GARO Vanishing Line and Darling in the Franxx.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I noticed Netflix recommending alot more anime to me. I'm glad they increased their offerings. I'll start watching some soon. btw it looks like Dragon Ball Super ended in japan or it's on a long hiatus at this point now that it finished the current arc. I don't know how far behind the dub is but it'll probably be all caught up by summer based on the last episode I watched on toonami.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

There are spoilers all over Facebook, I even shared the last fight. XD it looks amazing, but since its subbed I still look forward to seeing all of the Tournament of Power dubbed. I just finished the tournament between Universe 6 and 7 last week. That's all they have dubbed on funi. They generally lag behind if CN gets the rights to air it.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Correction, I got up to Goku Black and Goku facing off for the first time. They end in the middle of arcs for some reason and it's really weird. I held off on the first tournament on purpose when I saw it didn't finish it on dub.

  6. With my Nintendo Switch memory filling up fast, I pulled the trigger on a MicroSDXC card. I tried to score a cheap 128gb one off eBay when I first got the switch, but the guy ended up being a fraud and I got my measly $20 back when he vanished from Ebay altogether. After reading how there are a lot of SD card fakes out there, I decided to be a bit more careful. I scored a "like-new" Samsung 256GB card off eBay for $99. It says it was previously used in the sub-line, but honestly I don't know if it actually was or not. The only thing "wrong" with it is that it didn't have any packaging (as stated on the product listing), it was just bubble wrapped and inside of the SD adapter. So it could have been used, or it could have just been a damaged box. He had multiple in stock so I'm thinking these may have been factory second type things where someone damaged a pallet at the warehouse crushing several packages. The guy had a 99.5% rating on over 100k sells, so I felt comfortable jumping on it. After the format I have 230gb on my Switch, so it should last me considering how much smaller switch games are compared to PS4.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

It still blows my mind that Nintendo would make the storage in the switch the smallest and most expensive sd card on the market instead of making it use regular size sd cards.

  7. Ugh, I forget how spoiled I am watching Netflix series where all the episodes are loaded in at once. Catching up on all these Simuldubs on Funi is like hitting a dead end when I reach a point to where I have to wait weekly. I started some more series. I was hesitant to start GARO -Vanishing Line- but I'm glad I did. I loved GARO: The Animation, but GARO -Crimson Moon- was kinda lack luster and I didn't finish it. Each series takes place in a different timeline with different characters that dawn the Makai Knight armors. The original was Medieval like, Crimson Moon was more feudal Japan themed, and VL is modern times. At first I thought it was gonna be some macho bullshit, because the main character is so western with big ass muscles. XD I was pretty surprised. But so far its excellent, and the Armor suits are actually drawn instead of CGIed like the first two series which is a pleasant surprise. First brawl I saw was so Michael Bay-like with a shaky cam and I was like "oh boy, not this" But ever sense they haven't really done it.

  8. So total gut punch this week. The company I've worked for for almost 17 years of my life is closing the store I work at after filing bankruptcy. The lease is up on our building, and despite being probably the 4th best grossing store in the district, we're all out of a job by next month. And they couldn't have done a shittier job of letting anyone know. They just stopped shipping our dry grocery and perishable orders 2 days before they told us, and blamed it on "transmission errors".

But Luckily I have some solid connections and already lined up a job at Publix, which I feel is the future and should have jumped ship a few years ago. I was too complacent with my tenure and vacation time. But I'm only losing around $1.48 an hour just to throw stock full time and not be a manager. That's how much better they pay. Hopefully I'll be working different hours to where I can play games with everyone again. But for now its peace of mind since I just bought a new car.

Wal-Mart doesn't have as much dominance here as they do else where, they do build a lot of locations to try and put others out of business, and they do indeed hurt competitors, but they don't kill them. People despise Wal-Mart in my area with a passion. When I first started the grocery business there was just Wal-Mart, Delchamps, Bruno's, Food World, and my company Winn-Dixie. WD focused on customer service and superior meat products, and it served us well. Delchamps was a unionized chain, they went out of business simply because the wages got too high and you couldn't downsize to stay alive because of union rules. People may think I'm crazy to be pro right to work over unions, but I've seen what it does to companies. High wages is only as good if the company can stay in business. Unions may be a good thing in different industries, but it doesn't work for the retail world.

Bruno's soon followed by getting bought out several times and just eventually died. Winn-Dixie being the only legitimate competition to Wal-Mart out of the blue decided they wanted to go with lower prices. Lowing prices means less money from sales. You'll naturally underperform from the previous year when everything costs less... and along with the CEO being a greedy fuck, things started going south. Payroll was cut, less people in the stores, customer service went down. We were told to perform at the same standards with half of what we had. Obviously that's impossible. Eventually we hit bankruptcy for the first time in 2005. Companies generally NEVER survive this. I can't think of a single big retailer that ever has... but we did thanks to hurricane Katrina. Partly because we opened back up first, generating a reputation of being there for the community, and partly because we totally ripped off the insurance company by reporting much higher losses than we really had. You won't find that on any record, but as the guy that was scanning out each item 10-15 times, I can tell you everyone was doing it because they were told to do it.

Once again our prosperity was squandered by wasteful execs taking private plane trips instead of 2 hour drives to prance around stores and tell you that you needed to do better. In 2011 we once again filed for bankruptcy and were purchased by a private equity firm that owned BI-LO. This was the writing on the wall, as since then everything got progressively worse each year with more position slashing, hour cutting, and draconian inventory control. We were no better than a third rate off brand cost savers chain. By this time Publix and Rouses Markets moved in to add brand new competition we haven't faced in years. Publix reminded me of what we once were. They loaded their store with hours and groceries. Prices are high but customer service is #1. When you make high end stores, you don't cater to people with food stamps or low income in general. It just doesn't work, they wont buy anything that isn't on sale, and they'll go to Wal-Mart for that.

So as of Wednesday, WD filed bankruptcy again for the 3rd time. Publix is a Fortune 100 top company to work for, and they are employee owned, so no CEO. Their assistant department heads make more than I did as a MOD, and their MOD's make double what I was making. I look forward to the new opportunity.

Congrats on the new job. I hope it works out well for you. I hate how ceo's and the higher executives make literally hundreds or thousands per hour compared to the average worker. Some people say it's because they are never off the clock and they're literally on call 24/7 but that's a load of crap. It's like those toys r us corporate employees with their million dollar bonuses they give to themselves literally months before bankruptcy.

Wal-Mart is strong I  the grocery department here but their meats suck ass. And i know for a fact almost everything is delivered to the store frozen. All the hamburger meat, chicken breast, everything has already been frozen before. Even all their deli/ bakery fresh cookies. The biggest grocery stores here are Wegmans. That place is quality that Wal-Mart will never achieve with its current grocery business model. The fruit at wegmans is so good I have never once seen a single bad strawberry in a package. That store is open 24/7 and it's always busy. Costco is another recent major competitor. And Topps is still in business for now until they go bankrupt.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Yeah Wal-Mart isn't about to pay a butcher $20 an hour. Nothing beats fresh meat, especially when it comes to beef. Chicken is always prepackaged everywhere you go, but not necessarily frozen. Companies aren't going to take the risk with salmonella, its not worth it with everyone looking to sue you for anything... and honestly I wouldn't trust any business... there is always someone being lazy. XD

  9. Got caught up on a few of the Simuldub's Funimation is running. Basilisk: the Ouka Ninja Scrolls caught my eye since I did enjoy the original. So far the action is pretty good. It takes place 10 years after the first one ended... or so it says until there is a time jump after the 4th episode. Its very different from the first as its more of your standard ninja anime rather than some tragic love story. I'm glad it did the time jump though because I was feeling like it was gonna be another "kids beat adult fodder" type thing. I also started Darling in the Franxx since it's getting so much hype. Its basically Gurren Lagann style animation with a ton of sexual innuendo. Its catering to my craving for a mecha series so far.

  10. I've watched so much anime since getting Funimation, I can't remember half of what I watched. I'll see something I remember watching and enjoying but i can barely remember any of the story. I guess I can tell what I felt was truly great when I can remember what happened. It doesn't really take much for me to enjoy a series without it being a favorite. Here is what actually stood out to me in the last year whether it came out in 2017 or not... none of these are more than 2 years old.

    Mob Psycho 100
I adore this anime, and its a close second to My Hero Academia. It's unique blend of purposely plain character designs, mixed with its batshit psychedelic fight sequences, along with the comical still expression scenes sets it apart from the norm we've been getting over the past few years. Its wacky and fun.

    Drifters
As a history nerd I really enjoyed this series. The animation and character designs are top notch, and the fight scenes are really good. The Hellsing people did this one and it has the same gore level. Its also one of the better Dubs out there.

    My Hero Academia
Easily my favorite series I've seen in a while. Unique characters, great fights that never drag, excellent background music that properly sets the tone, and superb animation. This is #1 on my recommendation list for anyone looking for a new series to watch. Christopher Sabat brings his Major Armstrong type persona to Allmight, and its great. XD

    Kuromukuro
This one is on netflix. Its a fun watch. Good action, comedy, mecha design, and fights. Its not on the level of Aldnoah.Zero or Gun X Sword, but its definitely more entertaining to watch than Knights of Sidonia.

    Lupin III part 4
Not much to say other than its classic Lupin. Although this season was a bit more connected with an overall story arc rather than several single standing episodes. The animation keeps it's classic designs with modern shading and a much more fluid motion. The new recurring characters were also well done.

  11. Holy cow there seems to be a subscription crate for everything now. AC Filters, Clothes, Bras, Candy, etc. XD I actually just signed up for Umai Crate. It seems to be the most unique and best value. Its just a box full of different Japanese instant ramens. I'll report if its any better than the cheap shitty ramen you can get at the grocery store. For $25 a month, the box seems to be full of 7-9 bags/boxes/cups of various types. If I'm not impressed with the first box, I'll cancel it and feel like it was worth trying something interesting. I watched a few youtube unboxings and taste tests and it seems to be pretty well received, even in the comments on their facebook posts. I recently had authentic ramen at a local hole in the wall and it was amazing. I always thought ramen was just that shitty Nissin stuff. XD Some of the videos I watched, its def a little more complex than just pouring hot water into noodles and a tiny spice packet. Some of them have multiple packets to enter in before and after water is added. And apparently there are suggested fresh add ons you can buy separately at the grocery store. Things you obviously can't dehydrate like hard boiled eggs.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Everything is rng now, even our food. Lol. Definitely let me know how that ramen turns out. I've had a few slightly fancy ones with multiple packets. It had a packet of freeze dried veggies, a spice packet and a broth packet. It wasn't that impressive tho. My favorite ramen is still the nong shim brand kimichi ramen. It has a nice spiciness to it that nothing else really matches in terms of flavor and its only $1.20 per bowl at the store. For some reason it's sold in the international section instead of with all the other ramen.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

It was either this one or the Candy Club. I don't want to feel obligated to destroy 3 tubs of candy a month. It just seems so unhealthy. At least Ramen lasts a good while before having to be used. XD

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Before you know it you'll have a stock pile of ramen that'll turn into christmas presents. XD Everyone will remember it as the christmas you gave ramen to everyone. XD

  12. Being in the grocery business for over a decade and a half you see a lot of product flops, successes, bait & switches, and other flat out BS. In one year I watched Kellogg's decrease the size of their cereal box contents by .5oz-3oz multiple times. They kept the box height the same and made them marginally slimmer each time to make it less noticeable. When Eternal water first hit the shelves it was from "Natural Springs in Norway". One day a coworker noticed it tasted different, and then noticed the bottle now said "From a municipal water source in California". XD I've seen Edy's Ice Cream downsize their containers, and then return them to the old size a year later calling it "Now 20% more!" Nah, you just gave back what you took. The biggest scam of the century is Halo Top ice cream and everyone that's copying it. Halo Top is just jet puffed ice cream. Breyers makes their version, and now Ben & Jerry's is going to make their line of it. You're paying for deceptive portion control. The only reason they are "low calorie" is because there is less ice cream in the cup. Since a pint is by volume and not by actual weight, most people fall for the this trick. You're paying the same, if not more money for the ice cream version of a bag of chips half filled with air. Don't support this crap. Just get regular ice cream and eat less per serving. On a final note, Breyers doesn't even call their product ice cream anymore. Its "Frozen Dairy Dessert". XD WTF I'm glad I have access to Blue Bell. Its still a half gallon, and its still ice cream. http://www.mouseprint.org/2013/01/21/breyers-converts-ice-creams-to-frozen-dairy-desserts/

That big n tasty was my hamburger of choice back when it came out. I wasn't aware they still made them. Burger king burgers are trash but damn their fries are the best. Surprised the hell out of me last month when I broke my burger king hiatus. Those fries are damn good. There's still no Hardees or Carl's Jr anywhere near me but i still see their commercials, same with sonic drive thru. Those Hardees commercials are alot better now. Lol. That slider double burger looks good. Wendy's and 5 guys are the best fast food burgers around here. I'd go to 5 guys more often if they had a drive thru.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Five Guys is amazing, but I don't consider it fast food since you can spend $15 there. I always get the double cheeseburger with everything on it. Wendy's Baconator is one of my favorites.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I like the regular number 1 Dave's single. I still like the Jr bacon cheeseburger if I get like 3 of them. They used to be so much bigger 10 years ago. The baconater has to much bacon for me. Feels like I'm prepping my arteries for a heart attack whenever I eat one. 😂

  13. I've owned 3 cars now. My first car was a 1993 Nissan Maxima. It had 110k miles on it and it served me well until 215k miles. An alternator and a break hose were the only major repairs I've ever had to have done on it. Then I got a 2004 Mazda3 which also served me well from 11k miles to 80k miles, a fuel purge sensor was the only major repair I ever had to do on it. I'd still have it if some kid didn't pull out in front of my and total it. With the insurance check I should have just put a nice down payment on a brand new car... but at the time I didn't want a car note so I got the only thing I could find... a 2004 Ford Mustang. It had less miles than my Mazda so I figured it was like I just had this car all along since it was the same year. Wrong, its been the biggest POS I've ever owned. I've had to have the power steering pump replaced twice, major exhaust work twice, serpentine belt, entire ABS system, read axle, front calipers, CV joint, motor fan, and the transmission that was put in to replace the already busted on they tried to sell the car with, is about to go out again... to top it all off the paint just started crumbling off the car and now its rusting. I bought it with 65k miles and now it has 116k miles. Now that my college loan is almost finally paid off, I'm looking to get a brand new Honda Civic or VW Golf. The Civic is a car I've always wanted since wanting a car, but the Golf is very nice and has more horsepower. I'll never buy another ford car again. I remember when my exhaust system basically fell off the car because the manifold cracked... the muffler shop I went to basically said "Yeah this is pretty common at 90k miles for this car" which I was pretty much at... wtf. Screw Ford. I've never had so many catastrophic failures with a vehicle.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Thanks. Eh I'm not sold on the rear cam. The only time I'd ever really use it is for having to parallel park, which is an absolute rarity. Or backing into a parking space. It does have a nice feature that you can make it look directly down so you can line up the prefect parking job.  Its susceptible to the weather though. One thing that the VW had was that its camera was build into the back logo that acted as the latch to open the back. It popped out when activated so it never got wet. It rained today and while it didn't really affect it this time, I did see a giant water droplet in the top corner. XD

I'm really loving the CVT transmission. There are a lot of hilly roads where i live and the CVT doesn't miss a beat when driving up them. I never feel the weight of the car slowing down the vehicle. I don't have to press further down on the gas to keep speed which I find very interesting. I just see the RPM meter go up and the car keeps going the same speed.

The biggest adjustment I have to make is the lights. I have it on auto so the appropriate lighting activates depending on the time of day or weather conditions. When I get to my destination I'm always anxious when I lock the doors and walk away when the lights are still on. They shut off about a minute after. I do like how the doors lock after 30 seconds of the engine being off and the key isn't in the ignition or when I put it in drive and start moving. I've been behind the curve on car technology for so long it's definitely taking some adjustment. Its not really the advancement in technology, its the fact that all of this stuff that you could only get on a $60k luxury car 10 years ago now comes standard on a base model compact sedan. My Maxima, Mazda 3, and Mustang were well equipped trims, and besides the sound system, they don't come close to all the bells and whistles this civic has.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That cvt transmission sounds very nice. I've never driven a car up a hill like that without having to push more on the pedal. Can you turn the lights off if you wanted to if they auto turn on? The one thing I thought was really odd was losing that functionality with my corolla. At night the lights auto turn on but if I go to pick someone up at work I try to park away from a window because i can't turn the headlights off at night. My car was really basic low end when i got it in 2010, but nowadays the tech is crazy. Built in gps, satellite radio, apps, back up camera, bluetooth for phones, voice recognition, turn nobs for gear shifting, etc. My father in laws new truck has the oddest key. Its literally the fob itself that you insert into the ignition and it locks in place like a magnet. I've seen other cars with smart keys that only need to be in the car and you push a start button. But that uses rfid tech that I don't have any real faith in security tho.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I'm not sure. I mean I can adjust the settings manually. I can turn the head lights off for sure, but I'll have to check on the LED day lights. I think those might stay on regardless.

The CVT is really nice. I've read the technology had a rough start, at least for some american car makers. Honda's is one of the best. I've read its cheaper to maintain in case something goes wrong because its belts and pulleys rather than a giant tube of gears you have to completely disassemble just to see what's wrong.

  14. Tried the Monster Hunter Wold beta after the guys I played Destiny with kept hyping it up... eh. Its not for me. The controls are funky, and the explanation of what I was suppose to be doing wasn't very good. I just beat down a monster until it died? I thought I was suppose to be capturing it? I was expecting a finishing move prompt, or a QTE, for a death blow, but it just seemed anti-climatic. Then it sent me to the "Coming Jan 2018, would you like to Pre-Order?" in which I said no and got sent back to the main menu. At this point I knew I wasn't going to try the more difficult quests if I have to go through all that each time, rather staying in the game world and picking another quest that way. I never played a Monster Hunter game before, I always thought they looked neat, but playing it myself left me uninspired.

I didn't know about the training hall. XD I was getting pissed because the legend up top with the moves kept changing and disappearing when I drew my weapon. So I basically mashed triangle a bunch with a little circle and dodge until I won. The UI is pretty terrible. I might try another round with a different weapon.

I'll try out this beta later today if i get the time. It looks decent at least.

    3. Strider Hiryu

I went straight for the Training Hall (it's like the third option on the list) when I loaded it up. I tried out almost all the melee weapons before I was even confident enough to do the first hunt (though all you attack is barrels, they don't let you practice against actual monsters). Sadly I used a weapon that I didn't try out in the Training Hall, the Feather Blade. Luckily it was extremely easy to figure out (though I'm still a little foggy on the whole summon insects to attack thing). Believe me though the combos are pretty much smash Triangle, hit Circle when needed (depending on weapon type), hit X to dodge, and R2 to switch modes/use special attacks (again depending on weapon, some weapons change what they are with R2).

  15. BoTW took Game of the Year award and its well deserved, but I'm also glad NieR: Automata got best musical score, because its very well deserved.

If I ever get a switch, BoTW will be the first game I buy.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I figured but I still, personally, don't think BoTW deserves game of the year. Not only is it a safe title for Nintendo it's not even an original IP. If anything Horizon deserved GotY but then again it didn't even stand a chance which saddens me because it's a brilliantly designed game with an amazing soundtrack and story. Damn Nintendo fanboys (I'm j/k btw, I've seen the entirety of BoTW with the exception of the ending and even I admit it's a well designed game and one Nintendo knocked out of the park but sadly since it's Zelda it was guaranteed the GotY award because of nostalgia. No other game ever stood a chance).

  16. IFC had a Three Stooges marathon on Thanksgiving. After we ate, we watched that the rest of the day. I haven't laughed that hard for that long in a long time. Good stuff.

  17. The new firefox update is amazing. It feels a lot faster even if it does look like a Windows 95 program. XD

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I haven't used it enough yet to notice any difference but one positive is it doesn't crash constantly like the old update did. I can actually view websites without having to open Task Manager to close it every five minutes, kinda nice (though I'm not used to using Firefox anymore and this new look is kinda meh).

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

The reason I say it looks like a Win95 program because I had the color scheme set to that same dark blue on the task bar. XD its so blocky, when it loaded up for the first time I had flashbacks.

I was using it all day yesterday and aside from the block look at the top, Firefox has never run better. I'm really impressed with how fast it is now compared to what it was.

  18. Super Mario Odyssey comes out Friday. I'm pretty excited as it will be the first Mario game I've played since Sunshine. But Stranger Things also comes out that day, and I'm going to see Jigsaw that night. too much shit happening at once. X_X

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

lol. Skip jigsaw and marathon that game. :P I never played sunshine. My last Mario game was Mario 64. XD

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Nah, it was a tradition for SAW 1-7, I asked off for it to keep it going. XD

Sunshine was amazing, they'll probably never port it unless it came with a special gamecube controller. The water jets were button pressure sensitive, and all 3 consoles ditched that tech this generation.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Wow its only a 5gig download. With as large as the game is that I've seen from E3, thats pretty crazy. BoTW is almost 14gb if you do digital. But I guess the vast scope of BoTW's map with its crazy terrain, towers, 100+ shrines, and 4 moving dungeons demands more.

  19. My right joystick on my Cinch PS4 controller is going bad. It doesn't register right turns very well. I think it has something to do with me taking it apart after the charge port fell into the controller. Part of that is my fault for being spoiled by USB-C and not checking if its in the correct orientation. It lasted me a good year and a half. I'm too spoiled to go back to a regular controller so I ordered another one.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

How much would a repair job cost from them compared to buying a new controller?

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I dunno, but I do know I'd be out of a controller for more than a month. I could probably fix it myself, but I want a back up plan.

I don't see why this isn't a standard feature on all controllers by now. It makes sense with how gaming is. Those 3rd party "pro controllers" are ugly as sin and mess up the great ergos of the original.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

At least controller mods and add ons look alot better than the old gameboy add ons. XD

But nothing will beat this monstrosity:

  20. YouTube bypasses Adblock Plus now. -_-; Ads are more annoying on PC than on the phone. I always wondered what those yellow lines were in the play timeline, they pop banners on the video at those times.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Try watching a list of music videos. Every 2-3 minutes there is a commercial inbetween every song. x_x They keep trying to promote their youtube red add free feature on me.

Use "ublock origin" addon. It'll block the youtube ads and you wont even see the yellow lines in the video.

  21. Got a Galaxy S8+ today. So far I like it a lot. My other phone had too many issues in the end, and it all probably has to do with being an unlocked phone. I know these companies alter the software on their devices to run more smoothly with their networks while at the same time forcing you to buy from them. 15 years ago it wasn't that way. But with how complex the software has become, its pretty easy to fix the system in your favor. When the rep tried to look up my phone for trade in value it has none. XD He was so confused himself.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Good choice in phone, got mine a little over a month ago and love it (though I'd of rather had a Note).

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I wanted a note at first, but more power paired with less battery was the deciding factor to go against it. I always have to opt with more battery. Maybe it won't matter, but I'm done taking chances on battery life. lol

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I'm still sitting here with my S7 a year later and my battery is lasting pretty much as long as it did when I first got it. I'll give it to samsung, they got decent batteries for these S7s.. those S7 notes that kept exploding however.. ehh. I'm glad they got their crap together seeing as I've heard nothing but great reviews for the S8 and S8+.

  22. Tried to get back into No Man's Sky after the big patch... nah. They took away the boost jump. Having to constantly get back in your ship to take off and refill the booster fuel because the planet is hazardous is tedious. Your 2 levels of protection upgrades last all of 10 seconds before eating away at your shield is annoying annoying enough and wasn't buffed. They took away on foot mobility, so you can't go very far outside your ship or shelter unless its a rare planet that doesn't have a hot/cold/caustic/radioactive hazard. At least with that boost jump you could quickly get back to your ship or find shelter for your protection to recharge. Its just not for me.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I think the only reason some ppl are saying it's good now is because they can build stuff and finally see some random strangers in the game. Maybe they improved the campaign but i doubt it.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

They added a bunch of stuff. I was really lost TBH at the start. There was a lot of QoL improvements from using items to the scanner scanning animals further away. Fuel types seem to burn faster... which was my least favorite part of the game originally when it seemed you had to refuel with every use of everything. I mean I get using Hyperdrive once between refuels, but just taking off and landing on a non landing pad surface was pretty annoying. The mobility with the boost jump was great, especially when you upgraded its longevity. I could hit 6-7 things around my landing spot and run back, take off and pick somewhere else to land. Now I'd have to take off for 4-5, and sometimes all 6-7 of them. The only thing you can really do when you land now is gather resources around the area. Eh. I removed it from my PS4 last night.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

      That sounds incredibly boring. XD

  23. With GW2s new draw distances, Ive noticed a few improvements in the core game, where map textures load further out, but Southsun Cove is a wreck. XD I went there for the first time in a long time for the daily JP and the increased draw makes some parts look funky and incomplete. After thinking about it for a minute while running around, i realized because the horizon is just a solid blue color making the distant textures look odd as if the map was incomplete. It could be the filter I'm running on SweetFX, but its def bizarre. Its the only map like that, that I've noticed. Maybe because its pretty flat and a plateau.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

It might be the sweetfx. I went there yesterday and did karka queen for the first time in half a year and didn't notice anything odd. :P But then again I was streaming the game to my laptop and that always drops the quality a bit. I might have noticed something different if I was directly on my PC.

  24. RIP Jerry Lewis. I remember watching Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis movies when I was young. He made me laugh as a child.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I still want to see The Day the Clown Cried. Apparently he donated a copy to the Library of Congress in 2015 with a 10 year stay on it. It wont be until 2025 before anyone has a chance to view it, and even then there are a bunch of issues with the rights. He never wanted anyone to ever see it... at least while he was alive.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

R.I.P. Jerry. I'll always remember watching his telethons when i was a kid.

I somehow did not know about that movie The Day the Clown Cried until I read about it just now. I looked up some details about it and the basis of that movie sounds like nothing he'd ever do. Now I'm intrigued by it because it supposedly ends tragically.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

There are some raw footage if scenes you can find. It sounds very grim.

  25. I'm almost done with GARO: Crimson Moon. I'm pretty disappointed with it. Its no where near as good as GARO: The Animation was. The story is pretty meh, and they reduced the golden night to some sailor moon type format where he only gets to transform at the end of the episode and wins in 2-3 moves. -_-; It reminds me how Blood-C is inferior to Blood+ as they both take place in similarly unconnected time frames.
