  2. MOB PSYCHO 100 Season 2 is coming to the Winter Simuldub and I'm really freaking hyped about it. Its def one of the most underrated series of the past few years. The animation is gritty and wild, the action is amazing, and the comedy is outstanding. I can't wait!

  3. I remember when I use to be a huge fighting game fan. I always like to read about the old series I use to play. Apparently 2B is way too strong in Soul Calibur 6. She launched yesterday and people are crying about her already... I'm like no shit, shes OP as hell in the game shes from. XD I called it when I saw the trailer. I honestly wish she'd be a new Smash Bros character.

I haven't played Soul Caliber since the second one so I haven't been following it much. 2B looks like a great fit in the game. I wonder how often they do balance patches.

The last one I played was the one with Vader and Starkiller. A friend bought it and I remember how frustrating fighting Starkiller was to unlock him. We basically took turns trying to cheese him with Vader by throwing him over the ledge for a double ring out. XD Eventually it worked.

  4. The two best anime this season so far are Goblin Slayer and SSSS.Gridman. Goblin Slayer caused a huge uproar over its first ep.. which honestly is stupid. Plenty of acclaimed anime have had an uncomfortable rape scene. A heavily censored scene that took up all of 10 seconds of the episode. However, whether intended or not, it got everyone talking about it. After that, it resumed as a normal but violent anime. It also wasn't random, it established the goblin's as pure evil. SSSS.Gridman is your standard over the top Trigger mecha anime... but it starts out off the rails. I don't see how they can get much more bat shit crazy. That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, Zombie Land SAGA, and Double Decker: Doug and Kirill have all been fun and quirky though. Overall I'm enjoying this season even if I'm skipping on a few of the shows.

Eh, as far as recap eps go it wasn't bad and it at least had the next episodes name at the end so next week should be a new ep (I hope).

I just watched the episode of SAGA with Lily's dad. They didn't use CG for the end performance, and it was quite nice. I get that its more costly to do it this way, but man it looked way better. As techniques advance, I don't mind CGI too much. I guess I just like consistency way more though. The hybrid can be so jarring at times I much rather have either all CG or all drawn. The method is getting better though. Gridman, as you pointed out is probably the best usage of hybrid CG and animation I've seen to date. Double Decker gets everything right about car chases that FMP!'s last season got wrong. XD Even though I'm not a blu-ray buyer, It would be nice if they went back and animated all the performances in SAGA for the blu-ray/DVD release. I think Sakura and Saki's characters suffer the most in those sequences because of their more intricate and longer hair design.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I'm pretty sure they'll go back through and clean it up as they always do before a DVD/BD release (there are huge differences in quality between the broadcast version and the home video release, I can name quite a few shows this is true in), whether or not the CG will be any better or not is another question (they usually just go back to fix animation issues that they let slide due to time constraints). I hope they do since I'll probably throw money at the BD release when they get around to releasing it here.

Yea, Sakura and Saki suffer from it the most (Tae does as well but it works in her favor since she's not entirely there and her movements are CG friendly) which sucks because Saki is my favorite character. Sadly the next episode has a CG performance and it's not overly bad but it is cringy (you'll see what I mean when you watch it). It is frustrating though when you have a great episode like Lily's without using CG and you wonder why they just don't do that (besides cutting costs I don't exactly understand, especially when they had a great performance without it. I believe episode 8's performance isn't CG but I'd have to re-watch it to make sure).

  5. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a testament to what single player games can be when you spend years developing them rather than 1-2 years and throw them out there with endless sequels. It would take me a few hours to hammer out my initial thoughts on this game. The level of detail is truly spectacular. My one concern was having to juggle all the health/stamina and weapon maintenance, but somehow Rockstar made it very uncumbersome to where its there, but you don't really have to worry about it every few minutes... I've gone hours without having to rest or use consumables. I've found myself getting lost in just tracking/hunting for hours. The amount of random side content is astonishing. After I get off work tomorrow, I'll have a whole week to dive into it and get lost. I'm really looking forward to it.

  6. With the summer simuldub season coming to a close, it played out like I predicted more or less. I'll wait a bit longer before I post my review. Pretty lackluster overall. But for me, the Fall Lineup is pretty stacked. Fairy Tail, SAO Season 3, and Black Clover continues which has become a lot more promising after this last arc I just watched... by far its strongest and most compelling. I watched the first episode of Double Decker! Doug & Kirill which was entertaining, and SSSS.GRIDMAN seems to be a Pacific Rim clone. Overall a return to more action adventure series, and lighter on the fan service heavy series.

The movie is already on sale (https://www.rightstufanime.com/Sword-Art-Online-the-Movie-Ordinal-Scale-Blu-ray). Aniplex still retains the rights to sell all DVD/BD and other merchandise, Funi just got the english stream rights when Sony acquired the company.

The only thing that sucks about Aniplex is they're extremely overpriced for anything you want to buy (fuck the BD's for SAO are still $60 a pop) through them, it's the reason I haven't bought Kill la Kill yet (I paid out my ass for the Gurren Lagann BD boxset, well worth it since it's GL but damn was it expensive (for comparison I just ordered a new mouse and keyboard for $198, $10 more then I paid for GL)).

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

This is why I stream. I don't miss the old days of swapping out discs every few eps. XD I still buy movies, but screw buying series anymore. I remember buying Fullmetal Alchemist for $100 from Moviestop the days when internet retail was in its infancy. I still remember the 20ft shelf at Suncoast Video that held the entire DBZ series on VHS. XD I haven't bought a series in over 16-17 years, but I remember thinking what a load of crap that 4 eps a disc was. Especially after a friend bought me a bootleg rip of Samurai Champloo from Half.com and it was all on a single DVD. Man those were the days when half.com was not regulated and you could get all kinds of burned DVDs for a fraction of the cost. XD DVD RW was a new technology, and anyone that could afford to upgrade was making a serious profit for minimal effort. The only series I'd consider buying is Violet Evergarden if it ever gets a US physical release. Every now and then I feel like dropping netflix, one day I might.

    4. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

God I'd buy Violet Evergarden in a heartbeat if it got a stateside release (I've actually considered importing it but sadly the Japanese don't include English subtitles in their releases and while I understand enough Japanese to get buy it'd be a hard sell for me). Sadly it's very rare for an anime that Netflix has the rights to to get a stateside release (I'd hate to think how much a company would have to pay to get the physical distribution rights because I'm sure Netflix would put up a fight).

Honestly swapping out discs has never annoyed me. Then again I've been doing it for over 20 years that it's just second nature now. I also like supporting the industry where I can, be it paying to stream content or buying the physical release. I do find myself streaming more than I used to, to the point that I rarely download fansubs anymore (only for shows that CR doesn't get the stream rights/simulcasts for) but nothing ever beats the satisfaction of owning the shows for me, knowing that I can watch them anytime I wish without the worry of CR losing the rights to stream them (hell half of my collection isn't even available to stream). I don't just buy anything though, I only buy shows I've seen and have an attachment to (like Aria, Gurren Lagann, Gundam, etc). It's not like 16 years ago where I bought anything I could get my hands on (a lot of my collection is shows I bought on impulse like Generator Gawl and Martian Successor Nadesico (two shows I'd never heard of and two shows I actually really enjoyed)). Plus I don't spend money on much anymore. I buy maybe 2 games a year now, rarely buy movies, with my Spotify subscription I rarely buy CD's anymore, rarely buy books anymore (which I hate, reading is my favorite past time but I just don't have time to do it anymore), and I rarely eat our/go to movies/or go out drinking. True, I should probably reign my anime spending in a little (I average $500 a year and that's low balling it) but meh.

Well that and I actually re-watch anime all the time. There isn't an anime that I own that I haven't re-watched at least twice (or, in the case of Aria, once a year since I first watched it (so roughly 10 times)). Yea, I really need to get out more x_X

  7. Although its also on the PS4, I purchased Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for the Switch recently because it's just been collecting dust. It was probably the better option anyways because the graphics look like something out of the N64/PS2 era with modern draw rates. Not a knock against it, as its quite charming... but the game looks like it belongs on the Switch rather than PS4. Everything about this game is so 1998. I've never played any of the Ys games before, but this one caught my eye for the old school hack and slash. It's very Dark Cloud-ish minus the world building. Sprinkle some old Zelda in there as well. The combat is relatively simple with 1 button main attack, and 4 special attacks that consist of holding R1 and pressing A B Y X. These use a SP meter that replenishes on kills. There are also dodge and block counters that give you a special speed combo ability. You have a party of 3, and characters that join where you can swap them out and swap between the three in combat. Each character has a assigned damage type (Slash, Precise, Bash). Having all 3 types helps weaken the right enemies susceptible to these plus you get a rare drop bonus... rather than the 1.1x bonus for having two of the same. Anyways, the story is campy but interesting, the dialogue is 90's cringeworthy, and its a lazy sprinkle of actual voice acting and text reading. The world is  large but a bunch of sectioned off instances that quickly load without a loading screen as you cross them. There are fast travel points but not in every sector, so it requires some old school memorizing where to go at times. As you get special gear, you'll find places that were inaccessible previously open up. I'm 20 hours in and I don't feel like I'm even half way through. So at $60, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth for a decent nostalgia kick. I bet this will be a free PS Plus game next year so when it comes up I highly recommend it without even finish it. I'll report back when I beat it with a proper review.

  8. The first two eps of AoT season 3 are better than season 2 in its entirety. XD

Oh crap.. did this start airing on toonami or is it on funi streaming only? O_O

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

The sub is like up to ep 5 or 6. The dub is held up by toonami. So yes next Sunday ep 3 will air.

  9. This simuldub season is pretty meh compared to last. If it wasn't for the fact that MHA and out of all things; Black Clover was still running. I'd be hard pressed to keep up. Ep 1 of Overlord season 3 felt like a waste of time, but the second one made things pretty interesting. Angels of Death seems kind of bland so far. How not to Summon a Demon Lord is a typical fanservice trapped in a video game world show. Same goes for The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar. Lord of Vermilion feels like a better Tokyo Majin.. which isn't saying much. Hopefully it will be something better. Harukana Receive is bouncy bikini beach volley ball, but Haruka is a total best girl, so I'll shamelessly enjoy it. XD On the opposite end, I'll skip Free! because I'm not watching a bunch of dudes swim, and I'm already watching HR and Hanebado... an anime about freakin Badminton. With Dies Irae and AoT not staring until later in the month that leaves three unlikely contenders for a surprise best in season for me, that isn't Overlord or AoT which I already expect to be solid at worst.

Magical Girl Raising Project is apparently a dark ass violent series with cute moe magic girls. XD A total clash of genres. The first two eps only have brief hints at it so far, its mostly just cutesy. But if it turns out like I think it has the potential too. It should be pretty interesting.

Chio's School Road is a "school" anime thats about Chio's walk to school every day, instead of the actual school day. The absolute absurd happens apparently every time. The first three eps have been pretty hysterical so far. Its different, so I like it.

Island is a pretty big mystery to me as to what its suppose to be about. It has my interest to see how it unfolds. It can honestly go either way. I guess I'll be reviewing these at the end of the season and we'll see how my opinions have changed since this status update.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Overlord has been pretty meh so far, thankfully the current arc ended with episode 5 (the most current on CR). I'm all for world building but honestly these side stories are becoming a little to much for me (I know they're part of the books but I want more Ainz action). I won't go any further as it will ruin the character development but it was honestly unnecessary to show this.

If it wasn't for Overlord I wouldn't be watching any of the new shows this season considering none have seemed interesting to me. My Hero and Steins:Gate 0 are the only currently airing shows I'm watching (and boy has Steins taken a turn for the extremely interesting as of the last episode. MHA is really dragging out this current arc so I'm not entirely sure how this season is going to end, my current prediction might not actually happen until the next, hopefully, season).

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I don't understand why they are structuring the anime to have arcs end in the middle of seasons. The open endedness of last season was odd. I figured Steines will be over within the next few weeks. I didn't look up the episode count to avoid spoilers but I know it won't be running through the entirety of this season so I don't count it. I don't even really count MHA or Black Clover since they are continuously to semi-continuously running through multiple seasons.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

SG0 has the same number of eps as SG so it'll end in little over a month if they don't take breaks (episode 18 is the newest).

They're doing it the same way they did the books. Each arc is an adaptation of one book though by the sounds of it the current arc was book 8 so they skipped book 7 (which a lot of people are pissed about) and everyone is worried that now we only have 8 episodes to adapt books 7 and 9 for this season (which may or may not be enough episodes). Plus the way they were going we were in for some major story developments (we still are if they do the next 8 episodes right) but I think they're banking on getting a S4 so they're drawing shit out they don't need to (the feeling I've been getting with MHA but at least MHA is guaranteed a 4th season with how popular it is (I mean fuck it's getting an original movie that has nothing to do with the manga)).

  10. Spoiler Alert for Iron Blooded Orphans. Funi put up the rest of season 2. Seriously fuck off... it's been a while since I've so mad about a character death. The way they killed Lafter was gut wrenching. I though Biscuit's death was bad, but fuck that was so fucked up. :(

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Honestly I can't really take "fans" too seriously anymore. I see comments on Funi's post about some random new series thats not gundam and someone just posts "Dubs are trash, and so is this anime, watch Gundam UC timeline". I'm like bruh, this isn't an anime forum 20 years ago... (Think about that We've all known each other for 17-20 years now. XD)

I really dug the grey area aspect of the story in season 2. There wasn't really a good or bad side per-say. I respect what McGillis was after, and in the end it came to fruition in a way. Elion seemed like not to bad of a guy in the end, even if his ways were a bit convoluted getting there. Tekkadan was just caught in all the wrong places. Orga's death was sad, but it didn't hurt like Lafter's. It was a given that he was a target, so it wasn't much of a surprise. Lafter's death was so senseless off something so petty, it was hard to swallow... especially after the development she had been getting as you said.

Even though S2 was better. My favorite moment was when Mikazuki freight trained Carta without warning when she challenged Tekkadan to a 3v3 duel. XD  I love small anti-cliche moments like that. It reminded me of Mugen in Samurai Champloo when a little kid was being held hostage and his holder was like "don't you care if this boy lives or dies?!" and he was like "naaaah, not really" and started kicking ass. XD

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Oh and Bael was my favorite mecha of the series.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Heh, good god how the time flies and boy has the anime forum mentality sure evolved (well depending on where you go. The MAL forums could be pretty toxic back when they were still up).

Yea, Orga's death more or less felt forced for plot sake. I understand why they took that method (I mean leader of Tekkadan, master of Mikazuki and the Barbatos, and what have you) but it wasn't exactly necessary (even if it did rile Mikazuki up and force the final battle). McGillis, while I admire what he was after, went about it in the worst possible way (ala Zechs in GW) and caused so much unneeded death.

That was a great moment. The lack of care Mikazuki shows while in battle is amazing. "Oh you want a fair fight, no dice" *proceeds to dash in and murder everyone* This is why he's one of my favorite characters from the show. Yea, he's pretty much emotionless outside of talking to those who he cares about but he is probably one of the best pilots in any Gundam show based purely on instinct alone.

If it doesn't show already my favorite mech is the Barbatos Lupus Rex, such a finely tuned piece of machinery (not to mention it literally took 7 Dainsleifs to finally bring him down to Julieta's level of fighting (though he was practically dead at that point) and he still took out most of her soldiers before she "won").

  11. I don't drink much soda anymore unless I'm at the theater or some other public event. But every time I see something new I gotta try it. My grocery store got some new specialty sodas in this week. Some haven't come in yet that I sill want to try. I've already had Cheerwine before which is basically a Dr. Pepper variation clone. They had some Faygo with real sugar, and a Shirley Temple soda that was liquid diabetes. But there was one called Moxie and it was pretty fucking nasty. XD It didn't say what it was, so I assumed it was just some type of cola... which it was with a vile aftertaste that can only be described as bitter grapefruit extract with a pinch of dirt. Apparently its an old soft drink made in the late 1800's and it should have stayed there because its nasty AF.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I remember trying a cab of TaB back in the 80s. That was the nastiest soda I ever drank. XD faygo with real sugar sounds good. I used too drink faygo all the time when I was a kid.

Tab is the Good & Plenty of soda. XD I remember they came out with an energy drink about 10 years ago, and it almost made me throw up drinking it.

  12. Tuesday my favorite festival of all time for GW2 comes back. I'm more hyped to play than I have been in a very long time. I was a n00b when this festival first debuted, and I'm sure a lot of nostalgia boosts it's memory for me, but even then, I remember feeling that Halloween and Wintersday paled in comparison. When the year spun back around and it didn't come back I was disappointed. Labyrinthine Cliffs is going to be much easier to traverse without the need of the aspect crystals, but the Dolyak Race should still be funny. I'm looking forward to the additions they've made, and I'm ready to grind out Boss Blitz. I hope they've scaled up the bosses properly and made the rewards worth grinding so it doesn't become a ghost town if people go back to Istan. -_-;

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I never got to experience the festival the first time so I'm really looking forward to seeing it. :D

  13. Ordered some Corsair Void Pro headphones for Prime Day. I've been putting off a new headset for PC for way too long. I have my cord duct taped and wires are coming out of the ear pieces. XD Its hard to give this headset up because its lasted me 15-16 years. Its just some cheap ass standard Microsoft headphones i bought at target years and years ago. The ear cushions look like cloth because the fake leather coating all fell off or deteriorated. Even with all the wires falling apart, it still works without a hitch. I don't really need turtles for PC, but the Corsair's were on a pretty decent discount, so I went with it.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Nice, I bought a pair of SteelSeries Arctis 3's last year on Black Friday because my old Logitech ones I bought with my laptop had gone to shit. Never really been much into headsets (I always used ear buds back in the day) but I adore my Arctis 3's, much better audio quality then my old ones.

  14. I completed my 6th world completion on Guild Wars 2. It will probably be my last. Mounts definitely made this one much easier to complete, but it still wasn't much fun. My first two runs were done the old school way with WvW map requirements. My third, forth, and fifth were done post HoT with gliding, and elite specs providing me with more mobility and power. This last one took less than half the time, but the hearts are so tedious, it's too much. The Beetle is cool for zipping around the map and unfogging everything. You may pick up a few WP and POI along the way, but if you were to move from heart to heart, half the time you'd just get your boost meter full and you'd be at your destination already. The raptor is still the best for these scenarios. The best thing the Beetle is for is getting to an event fast before it completes. Also the skimmer made maps dominated by lakes and ocean so much faster. With 10 gifts of Exploration, I doubt I'll ever grind out the Gift of Mastery track 10 times to go with it. I kind of wish I would have bought more than I did before that change occurred.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear you about that gift of battle. I should have bought 10 of those damn things when I could have. Meanwhile I have that mastery track set to be always repeating and whenever I see a WvW daily that is "spend currency" I buy some crappy food, get the potion for the reward track and dump it into it. I'm halfway to another gift of battle after a year and I haven't played wvw in over a year. lol.

That beetle is great at long distances but starting with no endurance and the slow build up time its a bit too tedious for me. That and I clip on every bit of ground somehow and stop all my momentum. -_-; I would say it'd be great for the silverwastes but I doubt it will all the little ground outcroppings that it would clip on if a jump wasn't timed perfectly. I bet that beetle would shine on maps like cursed shore where there are no hearts.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I had all of Orr done before the beetle. Its probably the most depressing part of WC because it's so dreary. I knocked it out first this time. 😂 You're probably right though.

  15. If there is one thing I despise about anime across all genres, its the damn "recap X.5" episode. Nothing makes me cringe more when I load up my funi app only to see this week is a waste of time for one of the shows I watch. I was really irritated that FMP had one after just 4 episodes, and Legend of Galactic Heroes has one this week. Seriously, what a waste of effort and time. Even if I missed episodes, I'd rather go back and see the whole ep rather that get caught up on some clips from it mashed in with everything I've already seen.

On another note, My Hero Academia was freaking amazing this week. Any ep where All Might fights is seriously some of the best content of the series.

And then Steins;Gate 0 just gut punched us in the feels this week with Okabe shortly going back to an alpha world line... oh the feels. The emotional level of this series is brutal. It's been a while since I've felt this much empathy for a character.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I can't remember what series it was but I remember a show having 2 recap episodes and it was done in a way that there was actually about 5 mins of new content in the two episodes that you had to see to know how they got to a location to know what was going on in next episode. -_-; And of course those 5 mins of content was spread out through the episode and all the recap was the characters "remembering" or having a flash back. Screw these recap eps.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Probably because something big goes down in episode 8 and they wanted to give us more time to process it. That or they're just trying to draw this out longer to get more viewers/get ratings higher(it's obvious they won't get where they want to in 12-13 eps, probably hoping to get a second/fifth season greenlit). Either way it's pissing me off, just when shit starts getting good they fucking cock block us with a recap episode.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Speaking of the feels train. Funi put up the first 4 episodes if Iron Blooded Orphans... geez really? I'm not even over the first big death near the end of season one. I'm guessing they're promoting the blue-ray or something, they normally put a few eps up, and then put the rest up when they're done with the promotion.

  16. When I watched Tokyo Ghoul season 1 and 2 a few years ago, I thought it was the most over hyped pile of shit I've ever seen. Apparently it didn't follow the manga at all. I've been watching season 3 just because its a simuldub, and while I find it more entertaining, it's so disjointed from the first two seasons, it doesn't make any sense as a whole. Apparently they somewhat decided to start following the manga after skipping a few arcs? Apparently they announced season 4 and it's going to skip more between 3 and 4? What a train wreck... They might as well start over.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I've never seen it but damn that sounds like a disaster.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Don't waste your time. Its crazy how much hype and promotion this anime got. I could imagine how pissed I'd be if it was my favorite manga and they just took random parts of it and adapted it with a ton of liberties. Its worse than passing up the manga and making it up as you go.

The first season was just the main protagonist gets turned into a ghoul. He cries a bunch trying to reject his new reality until he is tortured into being a badass... or so we thought, until season two just makes a train wreck out of it. He joins the antagonist organization and they break some powerful ghoul out of a prison... and you never see that guy again afterwards... there wasn't even an explanation as to why they did it. XD Its like they just did it to showcase a fight. At the end of the season the protagonist disappears. So season 3 starts and he's now apart of a ghoul hunting section of law enforcement, with his personality and memories wiped. He has a new identity and he leads a squad of demi-ghouls while struggling to cope with his old persona leaking through sometimes. No explanation of how, when, or why the most notorious and wanted ghoul was captured and brain washed rather than killed. Apparently you have to read the manga to find out.

Its almost like making Dragonball starting with the General Tao arc, then skipping to the Cell Games of DBZ, and then season 3 takes place in the Universe 6 v 7 arc of DBS. XD

  17. You could definitely tell this was the last E3 for this generation of consoles. Super small showcases for everyone this year. Next year's E3 will be back to the ultra hype reels for Sony and Microsoft unveiling the next consoles followed with the games that are being made for them. It will be an off year for Battlefield next year, but the first COD will be by C studio Sledgehammer, since MW4 will be the last COD this gen.

    1. Sledgstone

They need to make digital games purchased to be compatible with all future console generations. I can buy a game on GoG or Steam and have it for life. But for consoles I only have it for that generation unless I want to rebuy it again. If digital games could be carried over with every new console I'd look forward to upgrading.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

They should have both formats compatible. Digital games should last forever, But I could understand only doing physical for 1 generation back. They should get rid of discs all together though and go to those SD cards that the switch uses. Keep the Blu-Ray drive for PS4 games and blu-ray functionality. They should also do a 4TB HD and quit with the BS on small storage. It would also be nice to have feature to "zip" your unused games so you can unzip them later when you want to play them rather than having to redownload the whole thing. They also need to get their head out of their ass on cross platform. They don't need to repeat the PS3 generation where they fall behind because they got to arrogant. They made a massive comeback this gen, pummeling Microsoft in resounding fashion. Sony has way more exclusives, and that's what sells the console. Let people play across platforms, this would maintain the health of a lot of online game populations by consolidating the playerbase. It would probably save companies resources on having 3 different servers or 3 different partitions of a server for their games. Smaller studio games that have failed may fair better when everyone is playing together from all platforms. Let studios decide what they want to do.. Because I know COD would probably not do this to keep their old games dying so people have to buy the new ones.

  18. This has got to be Destiny's last run. Twice expecting people to pay for a Y2 overhaul can't be sustainable. I don't regret my purchase of D2 because I did get a lot of fun out of it. Bungie just has no idea how to balance a game to appease hard core and causal players. They've reverted the game to get max progression via raids again so I'll probably never play since my clan died off months ago. They either give it all to you easily or make grueling time gates and obnoxiously low drop rates. Like there is no in between here? Now they have some new $100 million dollar deal for a new IP which makes me think they are giving up on Destiny. With even COD ditching the MP season pass, the days of paid DLC are going away and yet Bungie is trying to milk two season passes out of each game. Meanwhile Overwatch is still healthy after 2 years.. match queues are pretty much the same as they were 6 months after launch. No DLC, free heroes and maps, along with constant rebalancing and hero reworks for underpowered characters. I REALLY hope Battlefield V gets this level of support for 2 years until the next main BF game comes out. I'm getting a bad vibe that the launch game will only have like 5 maps or some BS "because Tides of War". Yeah we get it, we'll progres along with WW2, but give us the same amount of maps every launch title has had. Hopefully The Division 2 comes out swinging from lessons learned unlike Bungie. The Division is in a good state right now and if they can release it with all the content this last free patch had, they'll be good to go. Really I just want games to be successes again, I want to stress over what to play instead of waiting for something that's hopefully worth my time. I hope Anthem is amazing for BioWare's sake, and I hope Borderlands 3 is going to be amazing as well.

    1. Strider Hiryu

It saddens me that Bungie thinks they can get away with this shit. I mean the expansion looks good (Bladedance making a comeback?) but honestly it's not worth the price tag (especially considering I would need to drop money to get get Curse and Warmind just to play it) or the disappointment tied to it once it's apparent they'll only deliver on half the promises they made. It's baffling how people still give this company money (and how many still praise how great D2 is, even after all the bullshit they've pulled).

Honestly as long as BFV is half of what they're talking about I'll be happy (even if it's only 5 maps but I doubt it, DICE has never really screwed us that badly. Their bosses on the other hand are another story). I won't hold my breath for The Division 2. Outside of R6S Ubisoft has done nothing to make me think it'll be any better than The Division (a game that still hasn't had any story progression beyond how it ended). True the game is in a better place but how long did it take? Are you really ready to invest money into a game that will probably have the same start as the first one? I'm not and unless I'm impressed by what I see once it releases I probably won't (don't get me wrong, I liked The Division for what it was. The story was good and the game play was solid but it just got so tedious without a group to play with. Plus after a while the grind for better gear got boring and wasn't as rewarding as it is in other games (I don't mind grinding gear but I hate grinding when the chances are slim to none that I'll get anything good (I mean come on I still play FFXIV, a game designed to be a grind and I fucking love it because I always feel like I'm working for something tangible))).

Anthem is BioWare's swan song. It better be good because if it isn't we might not see BioWare for much longer. I really hope it's everything they promise it to be but I'm tempering my expectations. I refuse to get hyped by all the youtubers making video's about it or to get hyped in general. I want tangible proof this game is worth my money and that won't come until we get game play footage and actual news worth getting hyped about. Gaming is leaving nothing but a bad taste in my mouth as of late and games as good as Detroit are becoming few and far between (which as a lovely surprise by how good the game actually was). I have only one game this year I've been looking forward to and that's Ace Combat 7 because those games are the only ones I get hyped for (I've never been disappointed by the main Ace series (numbered titles, Assault Horizon was thankfully not a main series staple because you and I both know how much that game sucked)). I just wish we'd get more information on it.

    2. Sledgstone

Maybe Bungie's biggest flaw was making the Destiny engine to begin with. They made it playable on the old generation of game consoles and ever since then it's been held back. Perhaps Bungie could make an amazing game if they used an existing game engine and focused soley on plot and gameplay mechanics. But then again they made Destiny 2 just like Destiny 1.. eh.

Its hard for me to get hyped for any game and its been that way for a long time. I'd be hyped for BFV, but after BF1 I still don't think DICE go in the right direction. But if it has BF4's progression system and predictive recoil instead of bullet randomization crap that could really motivate me to buy it.

The only game coming out this year that I am really interested in and will most likely pre-order is Tomb Raider 3. The first and second were both solid games with plot and action and I loved the gameplay.

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Nier Automata, Breath of the Wild, and God of War are probably the best games I've played as far as enjoyment factor in the past 5 years. They're all single player games. The problem with MP experiences now is balance is prioritized over fun. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 after the Javelin Glitch and Model 87s were nerfed was just a fucking blast to play... because EVERYTHING was OP as shit... the models were so OP that they were more OP than all the OP stuff. XD The game mechanically may have been a mess, but everyone was on an equal playing field with just about every gun being viable because you could choose in what way to be OP. It balanced itself. That was fun. Basically Esports ruined MP games. Overwatch is about the only game I enjoy that is balanced fairly well... but its purely an objective game with the need for strategy. MW2 demolition, you shoot 4 tubes around the bomb, chuck your nades, call in the air strike, pave low, arm the bomb, and post up the choke point and obliterate everyone that funnels in. XD  Ah back when I try hard carried teams to victory. Now if a MP game can't be esports, they just don't fool with making them.

  19. In 2009 I bought a 32" Sony Bravia TV. It was my first HDTV and I bought it for the release of MW2. Its been an awesome TV, never failing except one of the HDMI ports recently went bad after my PS4 had been hooked to it since I got my PS4. With 4k TV's becoming affordable I'm probably going to upgrade to a Sony X900F 55". Its not OLED, but I don't plan on looking at it at an angle so it should serve its purpose. I'll stick with Sony TVs since its all I've ever used and none of them have ever gone bad on me. My old SDTV 20" VCR combo is still in my Mom's room. XD I won't be getting a PS4 pro though, with only 2-3 years left in this console cycle it will be pointless. I'll wait for PS5 to take advantage of 4k gaming. Plus I want to be able to see these damn snipers on Battlefield that can see me through blades of grass. They probably have 75" TVs though. -_-;

    1. Sledgstone

Lol. With the change to spotting no longer giving everyone a noticeable triangle target to aim for, larger tvs will definitely give a advantage for seeing enemies off in the distance.

  20. I must have started watching Fairy Tail like 4 or 5 years ago. I always got held up by the dub progress. I finally finished the 265 or so eps that are out. Overall I really loved this series despite its tons of flaws. The story was very child friendly as no one really ever dies in a fight. If someone dies, its none of the important characters and they're already dead when they're found. Hell they even brought one back that was supposedly dead the first 3-4 seasons. However where it isn't child friendly is the fan service that progressively gets more abundant each season. Rather than a joke here and there it's bewb flaunting and gratuitous bent over shots. FT does have the most luscious cast of females you could ask for in an anime, and they exploit it the later into the series you get to the point its laughable. I feel like the series peaked at the Grand Magic Games and they ran out of inspiration after that. The whole former enemies turning good got old after it kept happening. I mean Minerva had resting bitch face, and Flare had psycho face to indicate they were indeed villains, so it was odd later to see them get the normal face when they weren't evil anymore. XD What made me love the series is the running gags and the fact that most all the characters had their own fights and stayed on equal footing with Natsu, rather than taking the DBZ approach and having the main character surpass everyone to where only he could do anything of value. Even though Laxus and Guildarts were super mega ultra OP, they were never around when it really mattered. Anyways, I'll be looking forward to the final season later this year. This was by far my favorite opening sequence.

Wait until you see all the ass pulls in the last arc of this series. XD At one point I thought the manga was going to go full hentai. -_-; I hope the guy does make a sequel tho. I read this manga for 10 years and even tho it fell apart in the end, I miss it.

  21. Ancient Magus Bride is simply outstanding. I wish I would have gotten to it sooner. Its like a darker Spirited Away with some XXXholic and Mushi Shi mixed in. From all the promotion Funi did on facebook, it was nothing like what I thought it was going to be. They really need to work on conveying themes better. Its partially why it took me so long to get around too it, because it didn't interest me at first. If you're ever in the mood for a mystical anime, this is the one. The world building is fantastic.

  22. 3 episodes into Stiens:Gate 0, and it's a feels trip. I liked the first one, but I wouldn't consider myself a fan. But this one is just tugging at my feelings with Okabe interacting with Amadeus. On a funny note, its wierd how everyone's tits got huge. Wtf? XDXD

    1. Strider Hiryu

XD leave it to you to notice the most important things.

It's been a rough ride and the way things are shaping up (based on all 5 eps) it's going to be another emotional roller coaster. I'm honestly enjoying this more then the first one just based on the emotional tone alone but I still say the first one was amazing in it's own right (I just wish the fucking games would go on sale x.x )

  23. Finished Darling in the Franxx today. Its definitely not for everyone. It starts out confused to what it is. A lot of people could give up on it after the first few eps. What's seemingly a corny mecha series with horny teens quickly evolves into an interesting and mysterious world were a group of kids try to find their place on society and struggle to cope with their emotions. Lately, I've been unintentionally watching series with slow build ups that lead to big payoffs and this is one of them. Having to wait each week for a new episode deprived me of the instant gratification or lack there of I'm accustomed to. The series ends without answering a lot of questions and adding a few more about the actual social structure and why the world is the way it is. But the questions about Hiro's issues and his explainable connection to 002 are all resolved. The animators of Gurren Lagann did this series, and it's easy to see that. Instead of a over the top epic tale, we get a darker world with mysterious creatures that probably wont be explained until next season.

  24. Just got a severance from my old job, and I immediately paid off a credit card. Feels good because that's a monthly payment gone that will act as a buffer for the small pay cut I took at my new job. Plus it was the card with the highest APR. I gotta hold out another year hopefully. My PC is showing signs of its old age, and I'll probably have to upgrade completely in the future. At 10 years old, its mother board is probably severely outdated to rebuild on, 6 of the USB ports don't work anymore, and more are dying. My wireless connection is kinda shit because I think the USB ports cut off for a second and kick me off at random times. I say this because the USB port I had the adapter plugged into died when it was giving me problems, and I put it into a new one and after a few days the same issue started happening again. I had to swap my mouse to a new port because that one died. Even though I haven't been playing GW2, I can imagine getting kicked off while doing something important. My PC case is too small at that. The video card I just bought a few months ago barely fits in it, otherwise I'd strip the old ass wireless card my dead PC had and put it in... although I think I lost the antenna for it. XD I also have plans to buy a new firearm. I sold my 1911 to the FFL I frequent so I could secure a larger down payment for my car. I never carried that behemoth, but I want a revolver since I don't have one. That will only cost me around $600... so that empty credit card balance is already begging to be used. XDXDXD

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I'll have to check that out. The front 4 USB ports are never going to work again. The case slants at the top and just the weight and pulling of the cords damaged it over time. The PC would just instantly blue screen on boot up, so I had to disconnect them, but I still have 8 slots in the back. I'm good with the 5-6 I use, but if I lose anymore, it will become problematic. I really don't want to upgrade anytime soon. PC advancement has come to a crawl over the past few years and I wouldn't be jumping by a lot if I did.

    2. Sledgstone

I got the majority of my credit debt trying to provide for my family of 4 while making only $8 an hour for 6 years or so. Groceries, rent and car repair bills were the worst. I make decent money now but that debt has only compounded over the years. -_-; every time i start making progress on it some massive bill usually comes out of no where like a pet surgery at the vet, major car issue and one year I went to the ER with an asthma attack and those medical bills even after insurance took me most of a year to eventually pay off. Discover is very generous with their limits. Lol. I have 21k limit on mine. XD

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Few things are as demoralizing as when you're about to pay off your debt and something comes up to pretty much add back on to it. -_-; Or takes away the funds you had to put towards it. Mostly car repairs. That's why I bought a brand new car this go around. By the time its paid off, it will still have decent low mileage, very low wear and tear, and be properly maintained. There shouldn't be too many surprises.

  25. Funimation started the dubcast of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These. Apparently it's a reboot of the 1988 series Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Never saw the original, but the first two episodes has me pretty impressed. If this series is full of huge 5000-10k ship battles using old school formations and tactics I'll def be hooked. Since the original was over 100 eps, I hope I don't get The Legend of Legendary Hero'ed here after season 1. XD-_-;
