  1. Once again my company restructures and my position in the company is eliminated. I'm pretty much a lock for another position they created, but its getting old having to worry about whether I'll have a job the next year when they probably do change again. It will be a night shift management position so I'll be working late again and not get to game with friends like I've been enjoying the past 8-9 months. On the upside at least I'll be back in management, and not some guy thats coded for a job he's not really doing because he's being used as a manager/utility guy.

I was going to buy a new graphics card and power supply, but its on hold now until I know for sure I'll still be employees in a few weeks. Its pretty tough watching people lose their job that you've worked with for years. It seems just about every retail company is doing this lately. I know Lowes recently laid off a shit ton of managers.

God damn, pretty soon they're going to restructure you out of a job (hopefully not but damn dude). One of the major reasons I'm glad I'm out of retail now. I bitch and moan about my 50 hour work weeks but at least I know I won't be loosing my job anytime soon (as long as the oil industry keeps doing well considering they're one of our major customers).

On the upside you're management again (well if that is an upside, I hated being a manager) and hopefully that comes with a raise.

Hopefully. It's one of those things where they're getting rid of more full time positions and replacing them with part time. I guess they felt that getting rid of the 4th manager per store was a mistake so they've added it back, except it's hourly and its always closing. The hourly part doesn't bother me though, I don't miss 10 hour days at all.

Too many company's freaked out last year and got rid of management positions when they saw that Obama overtime law. That law was blocked by a judge back in november and with trump in the white house it'll never see the light of day. Swapping out full time jobs for a bunch of part time ones is just like what fast food and restaurant industries have been doing for decades. Part timers don't qualify for benefits and insurance and most companies that do that usually pay the part timers just enough money to pass minimum wage laws but little enough hours that their overall wages qualify them for medicaid. They're shifting their costs from the company to the state to get max profits. Thats one of the reasons that stupid bill in NY passed giving restaurant and fast food employees a minimum wage of $15 an hour. NY did it just to kick all those people off medicaid because the state was subsidizing all the fast food companies by paying for all their employee's insurance thru medicaid. Who ever came up with the number of $15 an hour should explain that a bit more tho. I still don't see how one industry should have a separate minimum wage over others. In the end that bill forcing those companies to pay $15 an hour was the state's way of shifting the cost back to the company since all those people won't qualify for medicaid now and can buy their own insurance.
