  1. Had a busy weekend. A cousin from out of state visited, another day we put a second coat of paint on our garage and the third day was all yard work. It was a nice having a 3 day weekend. I have another one coming up this weekend, but I have to replace the dip tube in my water heater, hopefully that doesn't take me all day. My water heater is in an awkward location in its own utility closet and I'll have to disconnect 3 water lines to pull it out far enough to get the tube down the top because theres a shelf over the water heater and it has no clearance. I'm sure it'll be a pain in my ass. x_x

It looks like Houston lucked out with the hurricane. Did you get really strong rain tho?

My water heater is electric and on the first floor, I've already had to drain it a couple times and replace heating elements so I have experience with it now. lol. The longest part for doing any work on a water heater is waiting for it to drain. Its a small drain spout and I swear it took like 3 hours to drain out. They hardly mention that on the YT videos. If it was a gas water heater.. I dunno, I'd probably let a pro do that. The only experience I have with gas is converting my stove from natural gas to propane and hooking up the gas line to it. That was quite the experience too. Different YT videos I watched have them getting it done in 10 minutes, took me 2 hours with my OCD. XD I did pay a guy last year to service my propane furnace and he taught me how to clean it and replace the igniter. So now I feel comfortable doing that again. Propane furnace is way less parts involved than the fuel oil furnace at my old house.

I fixed my water heater yesterday. Turned into an 8 hour job. Wtf. Also 3 trips to lowes. I drained the water heater, unhooked the water lines, replaced the dip tube, replaced the other nipple connection, then I realized I had to replace the elements again, vacuum out the calcium buildup. Pain in my ass. Unless I buy a water softener I'll have to replace my elements once a year as a maintenance job. My well water is too hard with minerals. Oh well, at least the parts are cheap. Only $28 for the 2 elements.

This new pipe wrench I bought is a beast and worked great for the job. Both of these are cast iron and will be great for killing zombies. XD
