Star Wars live action series begins casting

Recommended Posts

http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/14497.html

The long-rumored Star Wars live action TV show (see “No Skywalkers in Star Wars TV Show”) has begun casting, according to MTV Movies Blog. Rose Byrne, doing publicity for Knowing, “let slip” that she has friends who are auditioning for the series.

The show will be set between Episode III and Episode IV, and focus on minor characters. Lucas plans to shoot a full year’s worth of episodes before selling the series to a network.

Well at least with a full season of episodes made prior to airing, we won't get any bullshit mid-season finales and having to wait 6+ months for new episodes like alot of series have been doing lately.

well only shit thing is any Jedi that survived didnt last too long according to the books. some gave up being a jedi, as vader could track them down otherwise

and the ones that didnt were hunted and killed by vader

i think KOTOR time would have been good, well any historical time,

when there were sith andjedi in large numbers that way we get lightsaber action frequently

I just hope that when it says minor characters, it doesn't mean space drama on a star destroyer. :P There has to be some decent jedi/sith action in it or nobody will give two shits for it.

A clone wars live action series could have been action packed and easy to write.

any jedi in the series are hated for starting the war

and the only sith are vader and sidious,

sure mara jade is partially trained, but she is about the same age as luke thus wont be in the series. and well a show about minor chars wont have vader WTFpwnzering ppl left and right

he wont be in it at all if it is about minor chars

What if the series is nothing but a smallville-ish rip. There will be some unknown kid in a small village slowly realizing he is different from others and he has powers that over multiple seaons start to evolve into new abilities... little does he know he is a talented force user. Eventually when the series' ratings start to decline, he'll start to turn evil and the local highschool football team will join forces with a small anti-empire movement on the planet to kill him before the empire recruits him for evil purposes.

:barf:

LMAO!!! I haven't seen smallville since hat General Zod thing with Lex.

What minor characters would bring any interest to the series at that time? Maybe Anikin's appretentice from the Clone Wars?

anakin didnt have an apprentice, that was made up for the cartoon so he can be saved by a child, to make the Kids Rule attitude,

the dumbing down of starwars is practically insulting

read: Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader

starts after being made in vader, and hunts down some jedi

now what i want to know is how did anakin go from having his ass handing to him by obie-one to being able to kill a guy server solar systems away over a TV ;p

read that they are planning on running 4 series at once,

start with one series and split into 4,

from wikipedia:

The production will focus on minor characters from the Star Wars galaxy, rather than the main characters from the films. Originally, 100 one hour-long episodes were proposed, but at Celebration Europe in July 2007, producer Rick McCallum explained that it may run up to 400 episodes, and "it’s something that can go on for years and years. One of the ideas is that we’ll have multiple series going on in about two or three years' time."[4] This supports a description given by Lucas as "one show that will split into four shows, focusing on different characters."[5]

Lucas had stated that the series will air on HBO, describing it as "Deadwood meets The Sopranos in space."[6]

I wouldn't count on that especially if Sci Fi or Sy Fy or bullshit whatever they call themselves gets the show. :nah:

Characters

Lucas stated at Celebration III that cameos by main characters are not totally out of the question. A teaser image shown at Toy Fair 2007 features a close-up of Boba Fett's helmet.[citation needed]

Lucas himself instructed the writers of the Star Wars: Republic comic book series not to kill off the Quinlan Vos character. Lucas had originally written a scene for Revenge of the Sith involving Vos, but ultimately, he only got a mention in the film.[15] It has been speculated that Vos will be included in the series due to Lucas' requests and changes made.[citation needed]

Lucas has stated that the series will not feature Darth Vader, Palpatine, or any Jedi characters, stating that "The Emperor and Darth Vader are heard about — people talk about them — but you never see them because it doesn't take place where they actually are. There are storm troopers and all that, but there are no Jedis [sic]."[16]

No Jedi's ...............................

bet they will be force users after a viewership strongly declines

I think he must mean current Jedi users. As in, no one we've seen before. Personally, I'd love to see [ame=http://www.atom.com/funny_videos/forced_alliance/]Forced Alliance | Star Wars Fan Movie Champions|Spoofs | Atom[/ame] actually made into a series.

Edit: ok, I don't want that actually embedded. *grumble*

i think this series is a poor mistake the more i read on it.

the dark age between ep 3 and 4 is just vader hunting and killing jedi, and in a few years he recruits star killer,

and star killer never saw a jedi untill TFU.

any force users shouldnt be anything special or vader would find them.

they should go KOTOR before it is to late

I think if he works on making the story good instead of looking for marketing options and catering to the PC crowd, it would be well worth it. But unfortunatly, the Star Wars franchise is one that spends more time on being popular vs. being good or true to the story, so I'm rather ambivilant about the whole thing.

Ok, so we're 1 episode away from the finale. That will be released tomorrow. The first two episodes were basically Dick van dyke and I dream of Jeanie episodes. Very boring and made no sense. Third episode and the "tv reality" becomes colorized and things start to progress. Fourth episode gets better and 5th episodes and on the show is solid and extremely interesting and is true Marvel movie quality. By the 8th ep all the tv show stuff at the beginning of the series makes complete sense and the series is awesome. I'm expecting some huge battle for this finale and probably some giant reveal for the Doctor Strange 2 movie. Maybe we'll see some huge actor like Keanu Reeves show up as Mephisto or something like how we got that hint of Thanos at the end of the Avengers movie.

A remake could be good if it's done right. But those games were so huge it'd be a bigger task than remaking Final Fantasy 7. Meanwhile I still haven't played the second KOTOR game.

The season finale just ended this past monday. I started this series and gave it a couple eps. I almost dropped it, but by the third ep shit started going down and I got sucked into the plot. This was a surprisingly great series with excellent acting. Its so refreshing to see a 1 off series like this. I don't think there is going to be a season 2 and if there is it would probably ruin the experience. This played out like an anime in a sense. It started and finished the entire plot. There was no filler episodes and everything tied in together. I hope this inspires AMC to make more stand alone short series. Hell, I wish more of america tv would follow this direction instead of endless reality shows or drawing out a series so long that it gets canceled without a finale. This show proves its possible for US tv to actually give us a story in a complete season. Well done AMC.  I can only compare this to Stephen King mini series, except better. Now I wish all those old Stephen King mini series were actually given the full season treatment like this.

This is without a doubt the best thing I have seen on tv this entire year. 4 series in a massive justice league / captain America civil war style plot spanning 4 episodes and it was amazing. I really hope they make another crossover special next year. Superheroes versus the ultimate Nazis. The episodes are online if anyone wants to watch:

I loved this cartoon when i was a kid. The animation looks good, the music is great, the voice actors are a good match. I'll watch this.
