Iron Man 2

Recommended Posts

If you find any news about Iron Man 2, post it here. :P

I just saw this today:

The Hollywood trades are reporting that Mickey Rourke is close to signing as the heavy for Iron Man 2. Both Variety and the Hollywood Reporter are saying that Rourke will play a Russian character; Hollywood Reporter says he will become Whiplash, Variety says he will become Crimson Dynamo. The new role for Rourke would follow his rehabilitation as an actor in The Wrestler, which is getting a lot of Oscar talk.

Rourke would join Robert Downey, Jr. (see “Downey, Jr. Re-ups with Marvel”) and Don Cheadle (see “Don Cheadle Replaces Terrence Howard”) in the new film to be directed by Jon Favreau.

He'll probably end up playing Whiplash. And I guess Whiplash is like the evil version of Tony Stark. Hes a weapons designs specialist and attacks with sonic whips and uses gravity weapons, like heavy gravity bolas or some crazy shit. O_O

Emily Blunt is close to being tapped to play the Black Widow in Iron Man 2, according to Variety. Blunt’s past roles include The Devil Wears Prada and Charlie Wilson’s War.

Samuel Jackson, on the other hand, who had a cameo as Nick Fury in Iron Man and appeared to be set to play the character in the sequel and in other Marvel films, told Geoff Boucher at the LA Times that negotiations with Marvel “broke down,” although the situation does not appear irretrievable.

The cast of Iron Man 2 does include the returning Robert Downey Jr. (see “Downey, Jr. Re-ups with Marvel”), Don Cheadle (see “Don Cheadle Replaces Terrence Howard”), and Mickey Rourke (see “Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2”).

So that sneak peak of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury may have been for nothing in regards to Jackson playing the role in future Iron Man movies or the upcoming Avengers movie.

This amazes me.. Avengers 2 will have Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch.. the children of Magneto.. but the movie will never have Magneto because he is part of the X-Men movie license that Marvel doesn't have direct control over.

If Ultron is presented like he was in the Avengers animated series or any animated Marvel movie he was a part of.. then this sequel could be pretty epic.

I somehow missed the news last year that "Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes" was canceled. This is quite surprising to me because Avengers EMH was a solid show with great plot lines. It seemed like the last season ended a bit rushed with a Galactus episode. Now it makes sense considering they wouldn't get a third season to do more.
Turns out Avengers EMH was canceled in favor of a new Avengers cartoon "Marvel's Avengers Assemble" that will officially debut Sunday, July 7, at 11 a.m. following a one-hour preview on Sunday, May 26, also at 11 a.m. The new series is a noticeably different animation style and here are two pictures for comparison:

      Avengers Assemble:

Marvel's other new cartoon is "Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.", which will premiere Sunday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m.
