New Ghostbusters Film

A new Ghostbusters film starring the key original cast members is in the works, with the first order of business a script by The Office co-executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who’ve signed on to write, according to the Hollywood trades. The pair recently wrote Year One, directed by original Ghostbusters co-writer Harold Ramis.

The Ghostbusters property is due for a boost this fall when the new videogame is released, with script by Ramis and Dan Ackroyd, and voices by Ramis, Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and other cast members from original film.

Tokyopop’s Ghostbusters manga (see “Tokyopop Calls Ghostbusters”) is due out next month.

Wouldn't all the original actors be in their 60s by now? I guess if Harrison Ford can make another Indiana Jones, Bill Murray can do another ghostbusters. :P

A new ghostbusters with really good cgi and a good plot could be a damn good movie tho.

Maybe it'll be based on 12/21/2012...

Possibly making it one of the last possible summer block busters if the shit really hits the fan...

Those who fight deplorables should see to it that they themselves do not become deplorables.

The original cast of the Ghostbusters films, including Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, is on board for a third film, Aykroyd told Geoff Boucher of the L.A. Times. The new film will use the script by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (see “New Ghostbusters Film”), which brings in a new, younger generation of Ghostbusters.

The film may start shooting as early as this winter, Aykroyd told Boucher, and mentioned Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku as among his faves for the younger generation team. Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two films, is not available for the third, and a new director has not yet been signed.

Sounds like it'll be a pass the torch live action movie leading up to even more new ghostbusters movies.

      Heres both of the trailers:

The first trailer doesn't make much sense with that "30 years ago" part at the beginning. This movie is a full reboot and not a sequel, so those events from 30 years ago never happened in this time line. This movie looks like it could be fun, but something seems a bit off with it. Aside from casting all women, it feels like a rehash of the original property without giving it something really new to focus the reboot around. The new weapons could be cool.
