Deadpool 2

What an odd trailer. lol. If only he had a happy little squirrel hanging out with him. :P

That looks like Cable in the painting and the robotic hand at the end. I wonder if they're going to keep him as a time traveler or if they'll reboot his character with a different background.

Wait a second... marvel doesn't own the rights to she hulk? Wtf. This merger could make for some amazing movies and cross overs. Marvel made mutant/X-Men movies will be far superior to what Fox has been making for years. I think Deadpool will be grandfathered in with its R rating. It'll probably get a few more movies but I doubt they'll ever have him appear as a cameo in another movie or an avengers movie. If anything that would open the doors to having other characters making cameos in future Deadpool movies instead.

Pretty sure Disney will mothball Deadpool after this movie because Disney will never release a rated R film under it's name (and it doesn't matter if it has the Marvel name, everyone knows who owns it) it's the reason why the Marvel films, while still good and with great action scenes, are so tame compared to what they could be in the hands of a company not afraid to take chances or get the hard R. Kevin Feige (I think that's how its spelled) has wanted to do an R Marvel movie for a long time but Disney won't let him due to their family friendly stance. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but this is Disney and they are known for screwing things over massively (plus we'll never see him make a full transition over to the MCU. I can see him being mentioned in passing after the MCU is rebooted after Avengers 4 but never part of the actual MCU (unless the X-Men are brought into it, which is possible because I'm sure Marvel is revamping their plans post reboot now that they have the ability to pull from the X-Men and Fantastic 4 roster)).

Disney is going to have to make R rated movies. They now own Aliens and Predator. There is no way they'll let those franchises die off and the only way to keep them going is to keep them R rated. As for Marvel properties tho, the Punisher series on netflix comes pretty close to being R rated, all it was missing was profanity. It had the soft core porn, heads getting exploded with shotguns, etc. I don't know if Marvel fully made it themselves, but they definitely gave it approval.

I bet netflix is going to really suck soon. With Disney pulling all it's movies off netflix next year.. and with Disney now owning fox properties, Netflix is going to loose alot of content. Disney's own streaming service will a must have for just about anyone that wants to watch all the fox classics. Disney owns just about everything now from Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, How I met your mother, X-Files.. movies like Aliens, Jame's Cameron's Avatar franchise, Planet of the Apes movies, Assasin's Creed, Independence Day, the Ice Age movies, Kung Fu Panda, Maze Runner trilogy, Battle Angel, X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc. I think the next Terminator movie was going to be made with Fox, so Disney might have some rights to Terminator now too.

Problem is does Disney care enough about those properties to continue them (and chances are extremely high they don't, outside of Deadpool there really is no money to be had in any of the other R franchises they've acquired). Deadpool is one thing considering how much traction it has and how much notoriety it has. Predator hasn't had a good movie since the first one honestly (and to top it off not many people even know the Predator franchise) and not many people outside of die hard sci-fi fans even has a clue of what the Alien franchise is (and lets face it the last two so called Alien movies weren't exactly well loved). As far as Disney is concerned it has the rights, doesn't mean they have to use them (they could just license the rights out to other studios to make movies). Iger pretty much said he's open to Deadpool staying R because they could pretty much use it as a staging point to start an R-rated MCU that has nothing to do with the current kid friendly MCU. As far as I understand it the Marvel TV shows aren't overseen by Marvel Studios outside of their place in the MCU (which they are part of). Full creative control seems to be with whatever network/streaming service is releasing the shows. You also have to consider the shows aren't carrying the Disney name and while the Marvel tag is still there not many people associate the shows with the MCU or whats currently going on in the movies. I could be wrong considering I have no interest in any of them but that was my understanding of how things have been working.

The Terminator rights fully revert back to Cameron in 2019 so I don't think Disney will take the risk of releasing a new one (and Cameron has plenty of ideas for the franchise and it sounds like it's going to either be a hard reboot or he's going to completely write out anything that happened after 2) and considering how universally panned every movie after 2 was I highly doubt Disney wants to touch this franchise with a 10ft pole.

I don't doubt that they'll continue a lot of the franchises they have but I can about guarantee you they will not stay R. Considering what you can get away with now in the PG-13 category I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of said franchises will fall into that category (again the only exception being Deadpool). Honestly all Disney wants is the money these can bring in, I mean look at how quickly they jumped on the chance to buy Star Wars from Lucas. Guaranteed money maker and they knew it and now they're squeezing it for everything it can give (and more).

I'm pretty sure Disney will provide R rated films under the 20th Century Fox banner. Yeah a lot of people will know Disney owns it, but there won't be riots in the street because they make R rated movies. People on the whole really aren't that informed, and its a safe bet a lot of people wont know, and those that do probably wont care. Disney's theme parks even have whole areas themed for adults like Downtown Disney or whatever they are calling it these days. Catering to a more adult crowd is not really new for them. Its probably one of the reasons they acquired the film studio. You don't monopolize the market just to not make R movies.

There probably wont be as many, sure... but there aren't many R rated flicks to begin with because as Strider said, you can get away with a lot under the PG-13 banner. The only difference between PG-13 and R is nudity and saying fuck more than once. I imagine Star Wars and Marvel get moved to 20th Century either way. Disney can subtlety throw their branding all over the place in every 20th Century. Or they can pretend not to associate with it, while raking in the millions the product make. Kinda like buying a Dodge, Jeep, or Chrysler thinking you're going American, while in reality the Italian company Fiat gets the money.

Deadpool is really getting top billing in his own sequel. In the comics Deadpool first appeared as a villain to The X-Force that was created by Cable. Now with Deadpool being the one to create The X-Force I have a somewhat feeling that this version of Cable was a part of The Reavers. Thus tying Deadpool 2 to Hugh Jackman's last X-Men movie, Logan.

Deadpool 2 is way better than the previous one. Like good enough that I don't want to say anything bad about it.

Spoiler

Basically past the ending Deadpool makes the same jokes that he made in his first Deadpool movie.

For a moment I thought Bishop was going to show up.

Beast quietly closing the door was funny.

Almost everyone who didn't show up more than once in the trailer died, but that probably doesn't matter.

Also

Cable wasn't part of The Reavers. But part of me now wants to falsely predict that Hope will join The Starjammers. Because Thanos reference.
