steam_summer_sale_2013.jpg

Steam has started their yearly Summer Sale. Expect huge discounts on numerous games over the next 11 days. The sale is good from 07/11/2013 to 07/22/2013. Don't forget, they have new sales daily and flash sales ever 8 hours. If you've been holding off on getting a game or some DLC, nows the time.

If I didn't already own Defiance on PS3, I'd buy it today on Steam because its one of today's sale items.. on sale for $13.59. Thats 66% off.. and the DLC is 66% off.. I paid $59 a little over 3 months ago just for the game and no DLC.. I wish PSN would sell me the DLC pack for 66% off.. but that won't happen. Sales like this put console game prices to shame.

My computer is too slow to play these high powered games.

Your laptop probably wont play many of the intense high powered games.. but Steam has a lot of indie games and numerous popular games that run on just about any computer. Check this website tho.. open it with google chrome because it seems to work best with it. Select a game in the list, it will scan your computer and it will let you know if it will play.

Sometimes you might get a false answer tho.. Like this site tells me my laptop won't play Borderlands because of my graphics card.. but I set the game to the lowest graphics settings and it plays fine... oh! and then there are older games like Half-Life and Half-Life 2, my laptop can play those games at full settings. :D

"That fairy needs to stop shouting in my ear, or I'm going to throw her friend I have trapped in the bottle into a lava pit or something. HEY, LISTEN! No, YOU listen. If something's important, just say so without yelling at me. Or fly over to it and change color like you usually do. Just because I'm busy mowing the lawn and hoping I'll find some spare change, doesn't mean I can't hear you." - Link

I was thinking about Tomb Raider, but I'm so invested in SWTOR right now, I thinking it going to last me til PS4 and Destiny. I plan on playing through it as a Jedi next and at this rate I don't see myself being done with Sith Warrior anytime soon...

Every once in a while I'll come across free games for PC that look really good. Anyone can feel free to update this topic with limited time free game links so we can add them to our ever growing backlog of games. If a game states how long it will be free for, please list that along with the link. Sometimes it won't be stated so if you click a link and its no longer free, then that promo must have expired. I've seen alot of free game listings off slickdeals or other blogs. I'll update this when I see good ones. I would post the free games with Amazon Prime, but I don't currently have amazon prime so if those appeal to anyone, feel free to post them since Amazon Prime generally gives away a couple free games a month.
      To start off with:
Little Nightmares is currently free with a Steam promotion until 05/30/2021 @ 10:00am (does not say if EDT, PDT, etc. )

Company of Heroes 2, Company of Heroes 2 Ardennes Assault - Limited Free Promotional Package, free for this weekend or until 05/31/2021? It doesn't say exact day it ends.

Steam has made its own hand held game console. It can be used as a handheld or docked to a tv like the Nintendo Switch. Honestly, this looks like a solid hand held. Everyone that does PC gaming has a steam account and most likely alot of games already in their library.
There are three versions: $399, $529 & $649 depending on the internal storage. Its shipping December of 2021.

      The hardware looks great too:

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

Nvidia is launching an online game streaming service called GeForce NOW.
I'm going to quote myself here from another topic:
With Playstation having it's own streaming service and now Nvidia making it's own service, having to own physical consoles and PCs specifically for gaming might come to an end within our lifetimes.
The downside to the Nvidia service is the cost. I've been seeing the numbers "$25 per 20 hours of gaming" floating around alot. If so, thats a hell of an expense for now.
