Sony Removed the PS4 Camera to Beat MS on Price

Well, that's a relief. Still I haven't preorder a PS4 yet due to hating the idea of holding onto money that technically isn't mine. (As in I already gave it to them.... but they haven't taken it yet.) That & I still need to check up on when the PS4 is released this year.

Its funny how they play it up like not having the camera is a big loss. When sixaxis came out, it was on your controller in every ps3.... what did I do? I turned it off in every game settings I could. If it wasn't for the Wii, Sony and MS wouldn't have bothered to copy motion controls.. with how much of a failure Nintendo has been lately, especially with developers, I don't know why motion control is still being pushed on us.

I'm glad they dropped the camera. I've used the kinect before and while it is interesting and innovative, I'm not interested in having a camera constantly on watching me. The PS4 camera doesn't seem anywhere as advanced as the kinect either so I don't mind seeing it gone. If anything, all the uproar about MS's Xbox One issues is pushing Sony to make more privacy options for the PS4.. no camera, no forced facebook connections, usernames instead of real names, hidden online status all sounds good. PS4 had me worried at first with all their facebook talk. ehh. Imagine having a camera staring at you all the time while facebook is on in the background... and then a new privacy setting turns on and you end up live streaming your bedroom to the internet. No.. no camera for me.

Sony still has massive issues with putting out working firmware updates that don't brick your system and then say you gotta pay them to fix said bricking.

"That fairy needs to stop shouting in my ear, or I'm going to throw her friend I have trapped in the bottle into a lava pit or something. HEY, LISTEN! No, YOU listen. If something's important, just say so without yelling at me. Or fly over to it and change color like you usually do. Just because I'm busy mowing the lawn and hoping I'll find some spare change, doesn't mean I can't hear you." - Link

The only thing I really like about the Kinect is how it is used with games like Kinectimals. (Though Kinectimals would've been better with more voice commands.) But everything it can be used for outside of gaming is pretty worthless & shouldn't be there to begin with.

I think I'm more likely to buy the PS4's camera now that I know its optional instead of necessary.

MS is no better with their total hardware failures aka The Red Ring of Death. I wouldn't be surprised if X1 has the same early issues.

The original xbox 360s had the red ring of death and the original PS3's had that massive overheating issue. I remember the demo PS3s at stores fried themselves because they didn't get enough airflow in their plastic enclosures. I'm going to assume that Sony and MS have learned from their mistakes and we won't get crap hardware this launch.

I was shocked when I read on twitter that systems were bricking. I'm very glad I missed that firmware.

I have a launch PS3, and it still functions to this day. I'm on my 3rd Xbox 360. Althrough I haven't played as many games on my PS3, it has been played pretty well through bringing it to my friends places to play MSG4 and GOW games, along side Netflix, and PS2 games such as MK Shaolin Monks. My PS3 heats the room pretty good, but it still works to this day. I've played it pretty well through its arcade games and ps2 digital games.

The new PlayStation 4 firmware update will include external HHD support for game installation. Finally. I honestly didn't realize the original PS4s even had USB 3. They are also finally adding custom wallpapers via screenshots. About damn time. The wallpapers in the online store are complete garbage. I'd still prefer to use my own .jpg files like on the PS3, but modders used that feature as a way to hack the system which is why we never got the functionality in PS4. Using a screenshot is completely fine with me.

For only $150 the Hori’s Tactical Assault Commander (TAC) Pro will give everyone on ps4 a huge advantage with mouse and keyboard controls. According to the box art of the product it is officially licensed by Sony and it's being sold at Gamestop and amazon. But if this is actually officially licensed then why doesn't Sony just allow keyboard and mouse input directly to the console so people don't have to pay $150?

Sony officially announced the "PlayStation 4 Pro" today:
No longer called the PlayStation Neo, the PS4 Pro will give us 4k gaming and HDR. I don't have a 4K tv so I'm in no rush to get one of these myself.

DX mentioned this to me earlier today. In one month the price will increase for PS+ by $10 per year. Not a huge increase, but it'll now be $59.99 starting September 22 2016:
      http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/07/27/playstation-plus-free-games-for-august-2016/
On a side note, I ordered a year's subscription from this site for $37.99 on sale:
      http://www.saugagamers.com/product/playstation-plus-12-month-subscription-card-digital-delivery
      $42.99 - $5.00 using promo code THANKYOU.
I found the deal on slickdeals:
      http://slickdeals.net/f/8965647-playstation-plus-12-months-37-99-digital-delivery
I haven't gotten my code emailed to me yet, but the company updated their front page a few hours ago saying it could take a couple days for them to send out the codes because they're getting so many orders in. With the price increase I doubt it'll get much cheaper than this since even last black friday it was only on sale for $39.99.
