For those of you that do not know, Syfy has teamed up with Trion Worlds to create something truly unique. It is called Defiance. Defiance is a TV series and it is also a MMO shooter game. Events that happen in the tv series will affect the game and events in the game will affect the tv series.

First lets look at the show:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BJN2ssm8QgIt already has my interest. It looks good, has potential.. and now look at this quote from an announcement made back on 05/21/2012 with some info on the impressive group of people that are working on this project:

http://community.defiance.com/en/2012/05/21/defiance-pilot-production-begins/

Syfy and Trion Worlds are thrilled to announce that production on the Defiance™ pilot episode commences today. Combining a star-studded cast with an elite production team, this groundbreaking transmedia experience is poised to unite TV and massively multiplayer online gaming for the very first time.

Defiance stars Grant Bowler (True Blood), Julie Benz (Dexter), Jaime Murray (Warehouse 13), Tony Curran (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Blade II), Stephanie Leonidas (Mirrormask,BBC’s Dracula), and Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves), plus recent additions Mia Kirshner (Not Another Teen Movie, 24) and Fionnula Flanagan (Lost) as fascinating characters whom you’ll get to meet in the game.

Defiance also reunites much of the Battlestar Galactica production team, including visual effects supervisor Gary Hutzel (Battlestar Galactica, Caprica), composer Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica), and writers David Weddle and Bradley Thompson (Falling Skies,Battlestar Galactica). Rounding out the team are language and culture consultant David J. Peterson (Game of Thrones) and three-time Oscar-winning costume supervisor Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland, Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha, Edward Scissorhands).

The landmark pilot is directed by Scott Stewart (Legion, Priest) and written/executive produced by Rockne O’Bannon (Farscape), Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, Caprica, Hellcats) & Michael Taylor (Battlestar Galactica). Kevin Murphy serves as showrunner.

That sounds like a great combination of talent and now my expectations are pretty high.

Now lets look at the game:

It looks like a mix of Borderlands with Resident Evil's 3rd person perspective. Could be good. I'll have to sign up for the beta.

Defiance is set to premiere Monday, April 15, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. on the Syfy channel. Defiance the game will be released April 2013 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

You haven't watched Falling Skies?!!!!!!!! Its probably one of the best damn Sci-Fi series out there even though the first two seasons are like 8-10 episodes. I think TNT is being overly cautious that no one wants to watch a sci-fi series... or maybe Spielberg doesn't have time to make more than that for a season. The end of last season had an epic cliffhanger. I cant wait for Season 3.

I just looked it up. Season 3 is 10 episodes as well... I'm still looking forward to it tough. lol

I'm completely current on Falling Skies! I'm really looking forward to the new season. Season 1 was a bit slow but season 2 picked things up a bit.. and the cliff hanger was huge. Season 3 should be very good.

What sucks is that its only 10 eps a year! I need more scifi! Its like I'm a junkie and I need a sci-fi fix. I watch crappy b-movies and reruns of Star Trek TNG just to settle my cravings sometimes. XD

Ok, so we're 1 episode away from the finale. That will be released tomorrow. The first two episodes were basically Dick van dyke and I dream of Jeanie episodes. Very boring and made no sense. Third episode and the "tv reality" becomes colorized and things start to progress. Fourth episode gets better and 5th episodes and on the show is solid and extremely interesting and is true Marvel movie quality. By the 8th ep all the tv show stuff at the beginning of the series makes complete sense and the series is awesome. I'm expecting some huge battle for this finale and probably some giant reveal for the Doctor Strange 2 movie. Maybe we'll see some huge actor like Keanu Reeves show up as Mephisto or something like how we got that hint of Thanos at the end of the Avengers movie.

The season finale just ended this past monday. I started this series and gave it a couple eps. I almost dropped it, but by the third ep shit started going down and I got sucked into the plot. This was a surprisingly great series with excellent acting. Its so refreshing to see a 1 off series like this. I don't think there is going to be a season 2 and if there is it would probably ruin the experience. This played out like an anime in a sense. It started and finished the entire plot. There was no filler episodes and everything tied in together. I hope this inspires AMC to make more stand alone short series. Hell, I wish more of america tv would follow this direction instead of endless reality shows or drawing out a series so long that it gets canceled without a finale. This show proves its possible for US tv to actually give us a story in a complete season. Well done AMC.  I can only compare this to Stephen King mini series, except better. Now I wish all those old Stephen King mini series were actually given the full season treatment like this.

This is without a doubt the best thing I have seen on tv this entire year. 4 series in a massive justice league / captain America civil war style plot spanning 4 episodes and it was amazing. I really hope they make another crossover special next year. Superheroes versus the ultimate Nazis. The episodes are online if anyone wants to watch:

I loved this cartoon when i was a kid. The animation looks good, the music is great, the voice actors are a good match. I'll watch this.

I watched the first 3 episodes of this tonight and I'm loving it so far. Unlike the movie where everyone is stuck in a grocery store, the bulk of the cast is trapped in a mall, while others are in a church or on the road trying to avoid getting killed. Spike has done a good job with this. Depending on how they treat this series it could be their own Walking Dead kind of show. No zombies needed here with the amount of monsters ready to kill everyone.
