i usually get the snap together ones which are pretty challenging even though you're just snapping pieces together... i have at the moment... Death Scythe Hell Custom, and Wing Zero Custom already put together, but I still need to put together Nataku and Sandrock Custom. This is the Death Scythe one I got here, i haven't ordered any online before, but if you DO get the snap together ones, i suggest having scissors handy for clean up purposes.. you'll know why when/if you get it lol

I used to have all of them... but my kitties got to them and they broke so I had to start over...

OH! another tip, show around. a lot of people try to really overcharge you for models!

I've never fully painted and done a full top grade model before, but I've always wanted to. I can only suggest that if you get a master grade model, fully paint every piece before putting it altogether. And I don't know if you have a good craft store near you, but we have Michael's crafts store near us (http://www.michaels.com/art/online/home), and last time I went there they had a good supply of model paint kits. And the paint kits they had were metallic colors that would be great for a gundam. You could really paint the hell out of a good gundam model and make that thing look like a real gundam at scale size as long as you took the time and patience to do it. Just make sure you get a couple good small very fine hair brushes that won't leave noticeable lines when you paint. Also, if the kit doesn't come with paint thinner, get a small bottle of it to clean your brushes with. Or if you are using acrylic paint, you can use water to clean your brushes or dilute the paint to make sure it covers more completely. Good luck btw! If you paint a gundam model I'd love to see your work!

Picking a Gundam model is a very personal endeavor, one better left to yourself. Your personal favorite series is always a good place to start when buying one (I generally stick to 8th MS Team, Zeta Gundam, and Char's Counterattack).

Keep either scissors (like Cabbit said) or an exacto knife nearby when remove your pieces from their holding brackets (or whatever you want to call them). It makes for easier cleaning and keeps the parts from killing your fingers when snapping them together. I also suggest getting nothing below Master Grade and only go to High Grade if you can't get the model your looking for in Master Grade. Only go to Perfect Grade if you think you can make the model and if you think you can afford it (they're expensive as hell). MG models look so much better then the rest (and pale in comparison to PG) so that's why I suggest getting them.

As for painting that's out of my league. I've never painted a model before except for one time and it turned out like crap. I've been meaning to paint my Zeta and Nu Gundam models but don't have the time or money to buy the correct paints and actually paint them (would love to though). If you go that route take pictures, I'd love to see it and get some pointers on how you did it.

Do most of these Gundam models require painting or is it just the Master Grade models?? I've been meaning to get a Zaku model for the longest time. Maybe a MG Zaku 2, or Gouf, or HG Shiranui, or a couple others ...

In terms of quality, is this the hierarchy? - Perfect, Master, High.

Painting is completely optional for Gundam models. Most come with stickers to add extra detail. Every set of models looks fine without painting it's just painting tends to add a personal touch and extra detail to the models.

If you want the hierarchy of quality from best to last it is Perfect Grade, Master Grade, High Grade, etc. Its the same going from most difficult to easiest. Perfects are generally for those who make models as a main hobby and come with pretty cool stuff (like light up eyes and body parts, die-cast metal parts (most of the model in fact), see through beam parts, etc). Masters are for those who do it as a side hobby and have, for the most part, made models before (I generally stick to Masters myself, for quality reasons and price range (best price for good quality compared to HG's)). Highs and lower are generally for novice model builders with less parts and generally less detail.

Nice, thanks for the info ^_^. I hopped on to the Gundam site to see through their items, and most of them are Sold Out (blooooody hell!!), but there's something that caught me eye - there's 2-3 versions of the Gouf's.

Unicorn Gundam from Gundam Unicorn (the new Gundam thats currently coming out).

Try looking elsewhere Kite, no matter what the general cost of a MG (in USD) is between $30 (low end) to $70+ (high end, depends on what it comes with and popularity). Importing directly out of Asia is whats making it expensive as hell. Yea it seems only the Exia got a MG line besides the GN-X. Odd considering most of the series at least has a MG run off all the major Gundams and a few of the grunt suits (I was looking for an MG Gundam 00 today but they don't make them :( )

Behold http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN961016 I literally think I need to change my pants after seeing this. Freaking $110 shipping though. If the shipping wasn't so expensive I'd so buy it right now.

Strider is a walking talking Gundam in human flesh/ form.

Shhhhh.......no one is supposed to know. Now I'm going to have all the governments on my ass. Time to go into hiding. *disappears*

I know, I'm trying to find a way to budget in money for it but with me graduating in two and a half months I need to save money to move back home. Curses, that would look so pretty next to my Dante figurine. 00 next to the Falcon would be freaking awesome.

I got an email today from animeniacs. They're having a big sale and they marked all their gundam model prices down 30%. I don't know the going prices for these kits, but maybe you'll find one for a good price. Of course I don't know about international shipping with them tho.

The main difference between an 1/100 HG over a 1/100 MG is the increased amount of parts to build with (MG have more do to detail level and also has see through plastic beams and some die cast metal parts pending on the model bought (both my Zeta and Nu Gundams came with die case metal parts)). MG's also take more time to build. Both my Nu and Zeta took me 10 1/2 hours a piece to get fully built. They require a lot of patience to get done and after a good 5 hours of building your fingers are going to hurt from all the snapping of parts and what not. Other then that it's just detail level as MG's are so much better looking then HG's.

The instructions usually tell you where to put the stickers. Just detach them from their sheet carefully and place the stickers in the places the instructions says (generally you can use your exacto knife to take them off the sheet and to help you place them, I did so and it helps a lot when trying to get them into the right place). If it doesn't tell you where to put them bring up a variety of pics from the internet of varying angles of the suit and look at the stickers. Then start placing them on the Gundam in reference to the pictures you have (all the stickers match up to whats on the Gundam in the anime, it's just a matter of maneuvering them into the places once you find where they go). How exactly did you break the stickers though?

Sadly (it seems) MG models are getting harder to find these days as they're refusing to make them for newer series or they make very few. As a suggestion for what suit to get go through the various series you enjoy and see if you can't find any MG models in that series. From their pick the ones you like the best. As a rule of thumb I never recommend particular Gundams, it's best for you to choose what ones you want yourself. However, if you want to start building MG models your best bet is to go for UC Gundam series (like MSG, Zeta, 8th MS, 0080, 0083, Char's Counterattack, Double Zeta, Victory, F91, etc.) as they seem to have more MG models then the newer AU series (like I said earlier I was disappointed to find out they only had the Exia in MG for 00 as I wanted MG models for the Dynames and 00), seems people don't buy MG's like they used too.
