So the State of Alabama finally repealed one of the most stupid laws in history. For the longest time there has been a ban on beer that contains more than 6% alcohol by content. There was no real point to this law as anyone could go to the liquor store and pick up some 100 proof products. Now that Alabama has freed the hops we have access to specialty beers we never could have before. I've been trying as many as I could the past few weeks and I've found a few worth mentioning.

Delirium Nocturnum is probably one of the best tasting beers I've ever encountered. And it damn well better be for the hefty $20 price tag for a pack of only 4 bottles. This was a huge gamble that paid off. Much like Booker's is to bourbon, its not something I'd go out and buy every time I want beer because its affordability just isn't practical. However, this is definitely a top notch special occasion choice. Although its a dark beer, its very smooth and refreshing. According to the label, its been brewed since the 1600's so they must be doing something right.

Another great beer I've encountered is from England's 300 year old Samuel Smith brewery. This Nut Brown Ale is a stronger tasting beer with a ,you guessed it, nutty after taste. I will definitely be picking up their other products and giving them a try. These will run you around $12 for a four pack. Not quite $20 but still pricey... But hey its a specialty beer, not a domestic.

Tommyknocker's Oaked Butt Head Bock holds a special place in my heart. Being a huge bourbon fan, the oak taste of this beer really sits well with me. The beer is cured in whiskey barrels, making it one of the most unique beer's ive ever tried. Its very smooth and extremely satisfying. It's alc content of almost 10% doesn't hurt either. :P This one will run you $10 for a pack of 4.

At first glance, 4 packs may seem a bit of a rip off... but the upside is... if they aren't good, at least you only have 3 more to drink! X'D (Stay away from Great Divide's Yeti... that's one example)

I've never seen any of those beers! O_O

Delirium Nocturnum... I want to drink that just to see the pink elephants on the bottle jump to life! X'D

That oaked sounds really good tho. Have you come across any lighter beers with higher alcohol content?

None that I know of. Liquor stores cannot sell beer and supermarkets can't sell liquor. So theres no store that has a huge variety of beer. Wegmans and P&C are the only stores that have a decent variety, but much of their variety is regional beer and believe me, Saranac beer in all its varieties taste like ass to me. -_-;

I did see a beer called UFO that looked interesting, but I think it would be too dark for my tastes.

-_-; what kind of law is that!? I know our supermarkets can't carry liquor, but our liquor stores all carry beer, even domestic stuff. In New Orleans, anyone can carry liquor, you can even pick up a 5th of Makers at the gas station. X'D

      I've been getting ready for spring for the last couple months and its taken up a crazy amount of my free time. We expanded our garden to be really huge last september in preparation for growing fruit and veggies. Then we decided to expand it another 6 more feet in one direction which we finally got finished last weekend. It was alot of work because our garden has an almost 6 foot tall deer fence all around it. We hammered in u-posts into the ground and attached the deer net and buried the bottom of the net so nothing will burrow under it. I should do measurements at some point to figure out its total volume. Its huge. lol.
      We have 3 apple trees, 3 cherry trees, and 1 nectarine tree in there. We still have to move 3 of those trees into their permanent locations (they are only 1 or 2 year old trees so its still possible to dig them up) and we have to plant a new apricot tree in there. I prepped the two rows for veggies last month but theres alot of weed whacking to do still and plants to move. We have 4 grape vines, 4 blueberry bushes and multiple raspberry plants to move. I started a bunch of veggies from seed and those tomatoes are still in an unused bath tub in my house with a light over them getting bigger every day. I'm looking forward to getting everything planted and done so all this gardening can give me a break.

      Well my dryer broke after about 15 years and multiple repairs I've done over those years. I had to buy a new dryer. So far so good. I was finally able to get my laundry done again and my bathroom no longer smells like dirty socks and febreeze.

      FML my pressure tank is failing for my well. Its getting replaced next week. Getting a new whole house water filter installed too along with some new valves and safety upgrades. Props to the well company employee for giving me the tip of hooking up an air compressor to the pressure tank to put some air in the bladder to get the system gimping along until the repair work is done. I miss public water. lol.

      This has been a busy summer. I'm almost looking forward to winter so I can get a break from all the lawn mowing and outside projects. Hopefully the snow blower I bought this year works good so I'll have alot of free time this winter to get caught up on things. When I've had free time I've been playing Final Fantasy X over the last 5 months and I've somehow finally hit 100 hours on it. Lol. Only took me about half a year.  I still didn't beat it yet but I'm at the end game stuff now with the monster arena and omega ruins.
