Defiance Season 2: Launch Trailer

Recommended Posts

It's time to take back the town in the return to Syfy's groundbreaking series, Defiance. Season 2 premieres Thursday, June 19 at 8|7c on Syfy.

I really liked the first season and I hope season 2 picks up the pace and incorporates some aspects of the game like the EGO system, Nim, the 99ers, Dark Matter, infector weapons, etc. Considering its a series that is connected to a game.. there are very few actual connections between the two properties. It almost feels likes its the same world but to different realities.

Considering how surprisingly good the first season was I'm hoping this season is just as good and it's about damn time. I've been going nuts waiting for this to start back up. Really want to know what happened with Irisa after everything went down the way it did.

It's not surprising the game and show aren't really connected since the game takes place in whats left of San Fransisco (it does doesn't it? I mean the Golden Gate Bridge is on the cover of the damn game). It's be hard to connect the two since they're on other sides of the continent from each other. I wouldn't know much outside of what my friend was telling me since he plays it and watches the show (he told me there was a few connections but they were the ones you already mentioned in the last topic). Would be rather interesting if this season does connect the two together, are there any big events being planned in-game currently with the release of the new season so near?

The only game tie in that I know of at this point was some contest somebody won that will get their picture on the show in some random scene which sounds pretty weak. Other than that I haven't played the game in months now. It seems like Trion is struggling with releasing the dlc for the game than promoting any cross over potential.

Is this the same show with a really really bad season finale or am I getting confused with another series?

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

And you were OK with the show's ending and the cop-out let's-kill-but-conveniently-revive-Nolan-so-the-kill-in-the-first-place-didn't-matter-at-all thing?! And that's barring other really dumb plot holes and bad writing! I'll watch the last episode and give you a recap :

Season 2 has started and after 2 episodes I'm enjoying it. Its good to see some actual technology in Defiance too. The higher up E-Reps are completely corrupt, but I think that will lead to better plot lines than what we would have gotten with "Mayor Datak."

Irisa walks off to kill random people now.. well then.. I wonder how well thats going to work out for her in Defiance seeing as Nolan will end up having to solve those murders.

Hmmm, definitely an interesting start to the season with those two eps (yea I'm slow, lot of crap going on).

I'm happy to see Stahma finally grew a pair (persay) and has finally shown us her true colors. I really wish we would of seen more of it last season but I'm really happy to see it now. I really want to know where this Irisa story is going because this random killing people for no apparent reason is confusing the crap out of me. Quite honestly I'm surprised Nolan was offered his job back considering his past. I just wonder how Tommy is going to take it when he finds out (seems to really like his new job, would hate for him to lose it even if he isn't the right man for the job).

I'm also extremely happy to see Datak in jail. I really don't like him and hope something bad happens to him on the inside.

The last couple episodes have been very good. Datak got out of jail and attacked his family.. and now after tonight's episode they got their revenge. I'm surprised they didn't outright kill him. I think it was a bad choice to let him live. This show has gotten much more graphic.. the attack in the bath, the mayor getting violated with urine.. side boob, brutal beatings.. This season is really keeping my attention.

I have yet to watch last nights episode (apparently 8 central means 9 my time, when did this happen because I'm an hour behind them) but last Thursdays episode was really something.

So apparently instead of killing these people Irisa is saving them? I must of missed something because I'm confused as all hell right now and whats with these weird ass flashbacks that shes having? Were those her real parents she's seeing? Gah, so many questions and not enough answers yet. Was rather interesting to see how Nolan was taking these changes in Irisa. You can really tell he cares for her but he just doesn't know what to do.

And what the hell, I thought Sukar died last season. Did I miss something because I could of sworn they dunked him in the acid bath thing after the nano-machines went offline?

Datak getting out of jail wasn't a real shocker but I'm still surprised they let him out, even with Doc Yewll's backing. I had to laugh at the end of the episode when Datak was going off on them. Not like they didn't deserve it but honestly it was quite hilarious. Kinda curious to see what happens now that you said they get their revenge. Might have to watch the episode tonight before work if I remember too.

I like how this show is taking a much darker turn. I mean last season was fun and all but it lacked the drama this season is putting forth. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some pretty major characters bite the bullet before the end of this season.

In those flash backs I think those are Irisa's parents and my theory is that the ship in those memories crash landed and is located under defiance in that cave Irisa went to at the end of season 1. If that is the case it would explain why the e-reps are so intent on drilling the hell out of the mines at a substantial monetary loss. If they can get a mostly intact votan ship, it would be huge.

Sutar.. I remember the acid bath and then he woke up while in it.. then saved defiance because he had some arc tech in his brain controlling him.. then Nolan shot him and he apparently fell to his death off of the arch. But he somehow survived and was comatose. I think he woke back up again at the end of the season when Irisa jumped in the hole. But they never mentioned anything about that and Irisa walls right up to him like it was any other day 2 eps ago.. so wtf. This guy is like jesus or something.

But then Irisa killed him with the metal crap from her mouth. And it looks life she is killing them because when they showed Sukar again he was looking at his own dead body? So I guess she is making clones?

I re-watched the end of ep 3 and actually I think that's the original Sukar. Right before they pan to him sitting his apparently dead corpse starts breathing again and blinks. I could be wrong but that's what it looks like so if she's not making clones she's making something else. Either this metal crap is re-wiring them to follow Irzu's commands (as seen by that Casti chick going after the Casti kid) or something bigger is going on.

If that was her parents then why were they on that ship because it that's the ship under Defiance then they were in an extremely powerful warship if everything we been told so far is true. Everything they've told us and the way Yewll was acting last season makes me think this won't end well if that ship is ever recovered.

I also finally did get around to watching last weeks episode and I have to say I'm quite happy to see Datak get the snot kicked out of him. Such a cocky bastard but Stahma is going to regret letting him live. He might not currently have a crew but with what happened to Rafe I can see him joining up to help retake the town now.

This season is really starting to get good. I don't want to get my hopes up (like I did with Almost Human) but if keeps along these lines I can definitely see another season getting greenlit.

This last episode with Amanda, Niles and Yewll having hallucinations was ok, but not the best episode so far. It felt like the episode was dedicated to the LGBT community. This show seems to want to push the envelope on all subjects now. lol. I thought it was a bad batch of the "Blue Devil" drug that caused the hallucinations, but when doc Yewll was revealed to be seeing things too, then I didn't understand wtf was going on. This show really has nothing in common with the actual free to play game now. The way the EGO device was described seems way off from what it actually is in the game. Why would they need Amanda's memories? Why would anything in her life or past have anything to do with the ongoing plot line of the device in Irisa? hmmm.. maybe there is another story they haven't revealed yet. This could have been a transition episode to get Amanda off the Breaking Bad Blue Crystal Meth.. err.. "Blue Devil" and to break off her relationship with Nolan. She was a strong character in the first season, but now she is a drug addict running a brothel. She definitely needs to regain her composure.

I think they show developers realized how different the show is from the game (its like they are alternate versions of the same reality) so Syfy made a website that has weekly graphic novel episodes that is supposed to coincide with the show.. I haven't tried it yet, but I figured it was worth a mention:

The next episode preview showed an arch fall and a robot warrior. It should be a good episode if it has some action in it.

I finished watching the 2 episodes that aired back to back tonight. Next Thursday is the 2 hour season finale. So far the show has not yet been renewed for a season 3, so I hope the finale is good and at least finishes up the Irisa / Irzu thing.

Some things in the last handful of epsiodes don't make sense to me. I thought Niles wanted the doctor out of the jail because he saw her secret research about the metal filiments / Irzu that is in Irisa and wanted to use that power for his own advantage. But no.. he wanted her to use the human dna grafted onto the indogene host technique so that they could clone Amanda's sister.. and then they needed to put the ego device in Amanda's head to get her memories to then put into the cloned sister's head.. all of this elaborate scheming just so he could somehow hook up with her? This was one of the worst plot lines I've seen in a while.

But then Niles wants the doctor brought to justice for her crimes.. but if anyone actually catches her she could easily implicate him in the whole mess. Also, Datak was released from prison on Yewll's behalf because he was supposed to be her protector or something. Now that the doctor is wanted again, shouldn't that have recinded Datak's parole? Yet he is still free.. I kind of wish this season left that entire clone plot line out all togther and focused more on the political matters or some outside danger again like in season 1. It would have been a bit more interesting to me. I kept thinking it would all somehow tie into the main plot line, but it really didn't and it felt like filler in hindsight.

The last couple episodes were much better. Nobody knew who killed that woman, lmao. That was great.

And now the season finale is going to be the "Votan Rapture" as Nolan called it. Should be interesting and I look forward to seeing how the season ends. Hopefully if a third season does happen, then they get some better plot lines.

Ok, so we're 1 episode away from the finale. That will be released tomorrow. The first two episodes were basically Dick van dyke and I dream of Jeanie episodes. Very boring and made no sense. Third episode and the "tv reality" becomes colorized and things start to progress. Fourth episode gets better and 5th episodes and on the show is solid and extremely interesting and is true Marvel movie quality. By the 8th ep all the tv show stuff at the beginning of the series makes complete sense and the series is awesome. I'm expecting some huge battle for this finale and probably some giant reveal for the Doctor Strange 2 movie. Maybe we'll see some huge actor like Keanu Reeves show up as Mephisto or something like how we got that hint of Thanos at the end of the Avengers movie.

The season finale just ended this past monday. I started this series and gave it a couple eps. I almost dropped it, but by the third ep shit started going down and I got sucked into the plot. This was a surprisingly great series with excellent acting. Its so refreshing to see a 1 off series like this. I don't think there is going to be a season 2 and if there is it would probably ruin the experience. This played out like an anime in a sense. It started and finished the entire plot. There was no filler episodes and everything tied in together. I hope this inspires AMC to make more stand alone short series. Hell, I wish more of america tv would follow this direction instead of endless reality shows or drawing out a series so long that it gets canceled without a finale. This show proves its possible for US tv to actually give us a story in a complete season. Well done AMC.  I can only compare this to Stephen King mini series, except better. Now I wish all those old Stephen King mini series were actually given the full season treatment like this.

This is without a doubt the best thing I have seen on tv this entire year. 4 series in a massive justice league / captain America civil war style plot spanning 4 episodes and it was amazing. I really hope they make another crossover special next year. Superheroes versus the ultimate Nazis. The episodes are online if anyone wants to watch:

I loved this cartoon when i was a kid. The animation looks good, the music is great, the voice actors are a good match. I'll watch this.

I watched the first 3 episodes of this tonight and I'm loving it so far. Unlike the movie where everyone is stuck in a grocery store, the bulk of the cast is trapped in a mall, while others are in a church or on the road trying to avoid getting killed. Spike has done a good job with this. Depending on how they treat this series it could be their own Walking Dead kind of show. No zombies needed here with the amount of monsters ready to kill everyone.
