  1. I haven't been following Xbox products and I was surprised to see this one. I thought it was the new upgraded Xbox.. it is but it isn't. It's basically the Xbox One Slim. Its 40% smaller, larger hard drive, 4k bluray player and HDR video. Theres still another upgraded Xbox coming out in the near future that should allow 4k gameplay. This slim version is what I envisioned the initial Xbox One would have been. But instead they released that mandatory camera system with it and refused to make bluray movies play on the system unless you download an app. Probably because sony owns bluray tech. The Xbox One S came out just yesterday and now I'm wondering how much longer it'll be before we see a PS4 slim and if it'll have extra features. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one-s Reference to the bluray thing: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/apps/dvd-blu-ray-setup
  2. According to GameSpot articles that happened within seven days. Xbox One Likely Won't Be Microsoft's Last Console, Exec Says Nintendo Won't "Abandon" Wii U Fanbase, President Says 3DS Is "Here to Stay," Nintendo Exec Says I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing. But it makes me wonder how bad is Microsoft & Nintendo doing if they have to answer these types of questions. I still expect myself to buy an Xbox One a month before The 4th Gen Xbox. And I'm still interested in the mystery that is The Nintendo NX.
  3. http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/07/08/microsoft-gifting-xbox-360-owners-75-with-the-purchase-of-an-xbox-one/ Umm... wow.. that seems a bit desperate to me. Its a good deal for anyone that hasn't gotten the Xbox One and was planning on it tho.
  4. I started using Windows 8 tonight.. I watched the "Getting Started with Windows 8" videos and I now know how to actually navigate, switch and close apps, get to the control panel, etc.. and honestly, this OS would be fine on a phone or a tablet. But on a full PC, this OS sucks balls compared to Windows 7. To see what apps are all open and to be able to right click and close those apps, you have to move the mouse to the top left corner of the screen and then move the mouse down the side in a kind of crappy emulated swiping gesture. This also applies to the right side "charms" menu. The "metro" tiles that everyone knows as Windows 8, is a menu of apps that can be modified to have different tiles, but it cannot be removed or even have the computer boot to the desktop. On a tablet this would be fine, but I'm currently not interested in accessing Window's app store, installing apps and other programs that want to harvest my data.. I simply want a powerful PC for work and gaming. Without a touchscreen for a PC, this operating system is horrible. The shittiest part is that all the settings, control panel, etc. that is the core of Windows 7 is there, but Windows 8 wants you to ignore the hardware and potential of the system and instead sign into your Microsoft account and keep up to date with your friends and tiles. I'm currently doing all my windows updates and then I'll be upgrading it to Windows 8.1 which will allow me to boot to desktop and it'll have a start button with quick access to the control panel and all the other administrative options I actually used the start menu for. However, it still doesn't have an "all programs" list in the start menu, which means I'll have to use the search function to find my programs if I don't have shortcuts on the desktop for them.. and I will still have to turn on the "Metro" tiles, right click on a blank area and then click "all apps" to see the apps which are separate from normal programs. Once I get these updates done, I'll try to change some settings around to see if I can get this computer running more to my liking.

  7. What has become a series of PR blunders leading up to the Launch of Xbox One, You might think you were reading an article from the Onion when Microsoft warned its potential customers to stand the console up vertically at your own risk because it may cause damage. Um, what? Something that became a fad last gen for all consoles is apparently not recommended for what Microsoft touted as the future of entertainment media. Here is the direct quote from Albert Panello, senior director of product management and planning at Xbox: He went on to say that 80% of 360 owners do indeed have their console in the vertical position. Its also worth noting that Wii, PS3 and PS4 have slot loading drives and they stand on their side with no problem. If you google image search Xbox One you'll be hard pressed to find an image of the console on its side that's not a Photoshopped sized comparison chart. It will be interesting to see what happens when people have their X1's stacked on its side... Will MS run a PR campaign? Will they put a sticker on the console with a warning? Time will tell. One has to wonder if this was a last minute discovery during testing that will be fixed on future models. For more detail on this check out gamespots' article: http://uk.gamespot.com/tgs/microsoft-on-xbox-one-vertical-orientation-do-it-at-your-own-risk-6414731/

  9. http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-57583262-75/whats-new-about-windows-blue-faq/ I've only used Windows 8 for about 10 minutes while setting up a wireless network.. I didn't care much for the tile system.. It seemed about as disorganized as my old Windows 3.1 system. Unless you know where to look, or what to type for, have fun trying to find it. Of course that was only 10 minutes. If I actually had a PC with it installed, I suppose I would get used to it. But that initial reaction makes me glad I got a laptop with Windows 7 on it. Maybe this new "Blue" update will fix Windows 8, maybe not. But with the bad reception Windows 8 has received for the PC market, I'm surprised more competitors aren't trying to step up to the plate with new operating systems. If a linux or google OS could run windows programs and come installed on PCs, then some of these companies should be stepping up to the plate and enter the market.. especially if Microsoft doesn't get its crap together.
  10. Xbone.com if you have to be technical about it. Still its a funny thought that what had become the most hated Console of this year had to be bought by the people who made it the most hated Console of this year.

  13. It is still unconfirmed for now, but all indications point to a November 8th release date for the new Xbox One console. There are some marketing company images going around the internet showing November 8th as the release date. If its true, then the Xbox One will release a full week earlier than the PS4. After checking Xbox's official site, it appears that November is the confirmed month, but no exact date is mentioned. Sources: Kotaku | Microsoftstore.com

  17. According to an interview posted by IGN today, Microsoft has yet again flip flopped on another one of its stances. Previously, Xbox One required Kinect to be on at all times for the console to function. This is no longer the case according to Marc Whitten of Microsoft: One has to wonder if preorder numbers are the reasoning for this circus. Since June, Microsoft has taken off its DRM along with a slew of features, added some of the features back, overclocked the GPU, and now this. How does this effect developers? Especially ones that have coded their game confident that Kinect would be on at all times. This has to cause some headache, and its unclear if MS will ask them to make changes to their games near the end of development cycles. This definitely has the potential to get ugly after consoles launch. The first game that requires Kinect to play could cause the blame game between devs and MS. In the midst of walking back for irate gaming, its possible that Microsoft could also cause a strain on his developer relationships early on. 19. Sony's President Shuhei Yoshida went on twitter today and announced that you will not need a PS+ membership to be able to share and stream your gaming experiences. This comes in light of Microsoft stating yesterday that you will need an Xbox Live Gold account to use their gaming DVR. This is yet another blunder by MS after they decided to keep their 360 model which does not allow users to access Netflix without XBLG. The PS4 will still allow you to stream Netflix for free as it had on PS3. While you still need PS+ to stream and share your multiplayer gameplay, it still benefits those gamers that like to upload or search for walkthroughs for single player games, solo campaigns, and trophy guides. 21. The camera will be $59.99 add-on. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/26/sony-sacrificed-the-playstation-4-camera-to-beat-microsoft-on-price Well, that's a relief. Still I haven't preorder a PS4 yet due to hating the idea of holding onto money that technically isn't mine. (As in I already gave it to them.... but they haven't taken it yet.) That & I still need to check up on when the PS4 is released this year.

  23. Microsoft seemingly squandered its chance to redeem itself at E3, and afterwards they only continued to shove their foot deeper down their own throat. 25. . But why didn't Microsoft mention this potential during their Xbox One reveal event? This also raises more questions.. Could it be that Sony's Gaikai tech is even more powerful? Will the Xbox One still match up with Playstation 4 if Sony reveals computing potential with their cloud servers? Sony has said that constant online connections are not required, does this mean all game developers are planning on utilizing the PS4's specs only and not the potential cloud specs? Will this mean all future console games will come with a label indicating if a constant cloud connection is required or not? We'll have to wait for E3 to get all the details. In the mean time, check out this video of Crysis 2 being played on a web browser thanks to Sony's Gaikai system: Source: Official Xbox Magazine
