  1. Download attachment: usedgame.png Microsoft seemingly squandered its chance to redeem itself at E3, and afterwards they only continued to shove their foot deeper down their own throat. Will 24 hour check-in render games useless at the end of new generation? http://kotaku.com/mi...layab-513602148 "No one wants to buy a $60 Xbox One game to discover they just had it for a 10-year rental." Microsoft dodges the "region free" question. http://kotaku.com/mi...-free-513494440 "For reference, the PS3 was completely region-free. The PS4 is as well. The PS3 even allowed different international accounts on the one system. The Xbox 360 wasn't locked at the hardware level, but some publishers chose to implement their own region blocks." Xbox One's reputation system isn't troll proof. http://kotaku.com/xb...ust-m-513480515 "Each Xbox One game with an online component can include the ability to recognize griefing behaviors and react to them accordingly. Even if no one reports you for flagrant team killing or purposefully driving the wrong way in Forza, the games will know you've been naughty, and you could get dinged for it.There's potential there for hiccups and exploitation, but there's real potential here. It may strip players of their "right" to freely act like an obnoxious asshole online, but I'm willing to take the hit for the good of Xbox Live society." Microsoft fails to sell possible positives for "Always Online"? http://kotaku.com/a-...es-fo-513295925 "Those worlds can live on in between game sessions", he adds, drawing a line under games that would make this an extra and those where it's part of the game itself, the world updating every day. "If one player drops out, that world will continue on and can experience the effects of time, like wear from weather damage, so that when a player comes back into the universe it's actually a slightly evolved place in the same way that our real world evolves a little bit from the time we go to sleep to the time we wake up. Game developers have given us incredibly positive feedback on the crazy different ways that they can use this incredible new cloud power resource." Microsoft tells customers to buy a 360 if they don't want to check in online. http://kotaku.com/ca...x-360-512742247 "The 360 ecosystem is a great ecosystem for somebody that's in a purely disconnected state for long periods of time. We have built a natively connected device with Xbox One and we think the experiences are moving in that direction." Click here to view the article

The campaign was started by NeoGAF user famousmortimer who, in a forum thread, asked people to tweet several key Sony personnel, among them Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, about their displeasure." Retailers can charge whatever they want for Used Xbox One games. http://kotaku.com/report-retailers-can-charge-whatever-for-used-xbox-one-509958661 "According to "retail sources", trade publication MCV is reporting that stores will be able to sell Xbox One games for whatever price they want. 14. With all of Lucasart's game projects on hold while the company sorts out its new Disney owners, games like 1313 and a rumored new Battlefront 3 could be on the chopping block. It would seem that some of Lucasart's developers are intentionally leaking images and footage of an FPS that was suppose to be downloadable for XBL Arcade. Star Wars: First Assault looks like a Halo/COD mash up with a Star Wars skin. The game is suppose to feature 8 on 8 battles with Storm Troopers vs. Rebel Fighters. With its future in limbo there is no doubt this move is to gauge interest. There is also talk that the game's sales were going to determine if there would be a Battlefront 3. 16. . Lightbar? Sounds like Wii... Watching the "Demos" I'm reminded how Sony prerendered all the trailers during the PS3 announcements, not notably Killzone 2... and here we go again with a Killzone trailer... Its hard for me to trust and It honestly looks no better than the Killzone 2 trailer back in 2005/2006.

  18. New details have emerged on Sony's next generation console. The console code named "Orbis" will have built in PS Move support, and a new controller to go along with it. While developers are reportedly using a hybrid six-axis/dual shock 3 controller with their dev kits, there is speculation that this new controller will use Vita's technology to implement a touch screen while retaining the iconic button set up. Aside from what can only be assumed to be inspiration from the Wii U, the controller is also rumored to have a RGB LED light and much improved motion detection technology. The dev kit specs never exactly match the final console, but here is what developers are currently working with: System Memory: 8GB Video Memory: 2.2 GB CPU: 4x Dual-Core AMD64 "Bulldozer" (so, 8x cores) GPU: AMD R10xx Ports: 4x USB 3.0, 2x Ethernet Drive: Blu-Ray HDD: 160GB Audio Output: HDMI & Optical, 2.0, 5.1 & 7.1 channels For more details, check out Kotaku's full report: http://kotaku.com/5977849/the-playstation-4-has-a-new-controller-fancy-user-accounts-and-impressive-specs-so-far

  20. VGLeaks has unveiled the raw system specs of Microsoft's next generation console dubbed Durango. If these specs hold up, the next "Xbox" will have some remarkably impressive processing power at 1.2 teraflops (1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second). To put that in perspective; Xbox 360 is only measured in gigaflops. After the failure of HD DVD in the current generation, it is also a notable point that Blu-ray will be included along with 8GB of RAM, Wi-Fi Direct capability, USB 3.0 and HDMI 1.4a. Unlike the latest report for PS4, there is no news on the controller nor the previously rumored augmented-reality glasses. Here is a full rundown on the specs: CPU: - x64 Architecture - 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz (GHz) - each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache - each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache - each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources - each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock GPU: - custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor - 12 shader cores providing a total of 768 threads - each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle - at peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second High-fidelity Natural User Interface (NUI) sensor is always present Storage and Memory: - 8 gigabyte (GB) of RAM DDR3 (68 GB/s) - 32 MB of fast embedded SRAM (ESRAM) (102 GB/s) - from the GPU’s perspective the bandwidths of system memory and ESRAM are parallel providing combined peak bandwidth of 170 GB/sec. - Hard drive is always present - 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Disc drive Networking: - Gigabit Ethernet - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct Hardware Accelerators: - Move engines - Image, video, and audio codecs - Kinect multichannel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware - Cryptography engines for encryption and decryption, and hashing Check out the full details from CNet and VG Leaks below: CNET: Xbox 720: 8 CPU cores of gaming power? 23. Obsidian Entertainment, makers of KOTOR II, has pitched an idea to Lucasarts to make a new Star Wars RPG focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi. The story would take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. When asked about it, Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart had this to say: Disney has previously stated that it will focus more on mobile and social media games, but Urquhart thinks he can convince them otherwise. However, he does acknowledge that the lack of KOTOR II's success will make this idea a hard sell. For a full report, check out the link below: New Republic: Obsidian Actively Pitching More Star Wars After reading: http://kotaku.com/5968952/the-knights-of-new-vegas-how-obsidian-survived-countless-catastrophes-and-made-some-of-the-coolest-role+playing-games-ever I fully understand how KOTOR II got screwed over by time constraints.
