I just cant take Aquaman seriously no matter how hard they try. They should have rebooted Green Lantern with Idris Elba as John Stewart for this instead.

See I don't honestly care about weapons so they can stay on the token system (I have the weapons I'm most comfortable with right now. I main Scathelock (change it out for the DO hand cannon when I feel like it), Hardlight, and currently a random heavy I got from the gunsmith), what I want is the ability to buy the armor sets without needing to try my fucking luck (I'm fine with the exotic system so they can leave that in place, though I'd appreciate Bungie not giving me Lucky Pants every fucking time I get an exotic hunter armor piece). Since armor has nothing to do with the game anymore outside of giving you a choice between the three main stats I don't see a problem with selling it outright. Hell they can sell in at 10 armor and force us to infuse, I'm okay with that. Armor is nothing more then fashion now so the fucking retarded lock behind rep tokens is stupid. Want to keep them behind tokens? Fine, give me a set amount of tokens I need to use as currency and I'll go grind them (I, hate me all you want, actually enjoy 4v4 Crucible. I thought it'd be horrible but I've been enjoying the hell out of it (besides grinding out Call to Arms which thankfully is no longer a 8-9 game grind anymore). Don't get me wrong I'd love 6v6 again (come on make Iron Banana 6v6)). All Strider wants is for his Hunter to not looking like a fucking hobo.
Meh, most of the Destiny streamers I watch (which are all hardcore) don't really care about gear diversity. Sure they'd like raid specific perks since the armor isn't exactly easy to come by if you don't have a raid team but they honestly don't care about that. They're bitching more about the fact that there is nothing for them to do. It was a lot harder to get things in D1, as we all know so well. Getting gear was a bitch if you didn't have the god of rng luck on your side and exotics were damn near impossible to get your hands on. This is the stuff they miss, the stuff they want. Like I said most hardcore players have everything in the game they want, be it all weapons or armor. There's nothing to work towards anymore. Sure a lot of these hardcore players had everything in D1 but not on every character. Teawrex, with the exception of a few pieces of class specific armor, has every weapon in the game with the exception of two rare drop raid weapons and all the armor pieces he wants (on all three classes). This is barely a month after launch and the guy has everything (again what he wants). I know of no one who had that a month after the D1 launch or even after any of the DLC launches. This goes to show just how casual the game is now (not a bad thing believe me, I'm just voicing things from their perspective having been a hardcore WoW player for 6 years). Most hardcore Destiny players feel they got kicked in the nuts and left on the ground suffering. Don't get me wrong most still love the game but most hate the fact that they now have to twiddle their thumbs until these weekly and monthly events happen (Faction Rally and Iron Banana (Banner)) to tie them over until Curse of Osiris launches. It's a double edged sword for Bungie that they still haven't learned to balance yet (they fucked up majorly with D1 and while they haven't fucked up with D2 they're off to somewhat a bad start with the community that kept D1 alive for so long).
Shit I didn't even visit Xur this week since I knew he was selling shit (I'll get the Risk Runner on my Warlock when she gets that far). I'd rather keep my shards for infusion since my luck with legendary and exotic drops suck. They do need to work on his offerings though because they're not all that special (though I was happy he was selling Merciless and Wardcliff the last two weeks).

The token system is the only thing that keeps people playing TBH. The pull of the first game was buying the same gun over and over in hopes to get that god roll. Now that guns are set in stone in their perks, if you could buy everything as you wanted, even casuals will run out of things to do. Maybe they should have kept random rolls? They should have made more weapons that's for sure. Once you have Better Devils and Nameless Midnight, you basically are set for kinetic weapons. There isn't much better in those slots besides MIDA.
I think its more of the lack of gear diversity than anything else. I mean once Prestige Raid comes out, how much less content is there to do for hardcore players than D1? Unless I'm missing something, its about the same at this point in the game's life. D1 had Raid Hard Mode and Nightfall. D2 will have Raid Prestige, Nightfall Prestige, and Trials of the Nine. Essentially one more piece of content since Trials came out half way through D1's lifespan. Maybe a lot of hardcore came in half way through when there were more raids to do and Prison of Elders. I dunno.
Bungie hurt themselves with PvP as well. 4v4 should have been reserved for Trails, and they could have made it a regular playlist mode, but when you raid with 6 people, and then can only PvP with 4 of them, it ends up being pretty bad when you have to leave 2 people out. I enjoyed PvP when it was 6v6. Now running around hoping to flank someone for an easy win or hoping I don't get flanked for an guaranteed death isn't as enjoyable.
I think the game could fix a lot by bringing out 6v6 maps for PvP, having the Raid and Trails drop 300 gear, and giving Xur better stuff. Xur seems utterly pointless. His currency is super easy to obtain and he doesn't have anything special you can't get farming Public Events. They also cap at 270 regardless of your power level. That also goes back to the gear they launched the game with. Grenade launchers are shit, but we get 2 exotic ones, and no exotic sword or linear fusion rifle? I'm glad to see some old favorites return as weapons and armor, but they should have been extra on top of new ones that took their spot. I also find a lot of the exotic perks to be underwhelming.

Double jump is more then enough to get anywhere with a Hunter if you know what you're doing, triple jump is worthless unless you need a little more precision with your jumps (like getting that last Cayde chest on Io). Yea I know I'm a Hunter main but double jump is perfect the way it is, in fact I had to completely learn how to use Warlock's jump last night when I started it (took me forever to remember how it actually worked). I'll agree Arc Strider sucks, it's good for stun locking major's and yellow bars (and it's pretty effective in Crucible if you know what you're doing) but outside of that it's pretty meh. I actually enjoy Nightstalker, didn't think I would but I run with it constantly unless I'm doing something that requires my Golden Gun/Celestial Nighthawk combo. My only real issue with Hunter's is all their grenades suck except the Arc Bolt grenade.
Most hardcore players aren't happy with the current state of things because the game is extremely casual with nothing for hardcore players to do. Almost every major streamer who plays Destiny cleared the 290's week 1, finished the raid the week it came out, have gone flawless in Trials every week, and have every piece of armor and every weapon in the game. Once you hit that mark what is there to do. With the Prestige raid coming out I think either this week or next week (not entirely sure) its the only piece of content they'll have to do (which most will have done right away). This token system kinda sucks. I have no choice in what gear I get, it's all rng based the engram and it sucks. Yea, it's a lot more accessible and easier to get gear now (unless you're stuck behind the soft cap (which I am, stuck at 272 right now) but I miss having a choice of buying what I want or need (my hunter looks like I went through a thrift store and bought the cheapest pieces of armor I could find. I really want the whole Crucible set because it's the best looking hunter gear (outside of the Trials gear) but I keep getting stuck with the same pieces of gear every time I turn in enough tokens for a rank up). I'm also not a fan of this wear whatever increases your PL mentality. Considering my Legendary Mark drought I can't continually infuse gear so I can keep the pieces I like and it sucks because I'll get pieces I like but I have to scrap them because they're useless and I need the legendary marks (I have shit luck with legendary engram drops, almost all of my legendaries come from rep turn ins and powerful engrams). Bungie needs to rework a few of these systems but they are by no means turning me away from the game, just gripes I have.
Bungie did a lot of things right with this game but they dropped the ball on quite a few other things. The game being more casual is great for the longevity of this game (new players will constantly rolli in) but isolating you're hardcore base is going to fuck them in the long run if they don't remedy it. The hardcore community is what kept D1 alive and for Bungie to just abandon them in D2 with hopes of bringing in more players for more money is fucked up (yea, business and all but still). Most hardcore players have gone into casual mode hoping that Curse of Osiris brings in hardcore options so they can play again.

I have all 3 classes in the 290s. Titan just doesn't do it for me on this game. The Hammer of Sol is a cool subclass, but the other two feel like crap. I like Hunter better, but they really should just give it 3 types of triple jump becasue PvE just requires big jumps everywhere. I feel like most these subclasses were made for PvP. Arc Strider is practically useless against a lot of foes on PvE, they all run away and then your shit runs out. Same goes for most of Titan's stuff.
I've noticed all my hardcore friends stopped playing, they never have beaten the raid. I guess getting tokens to buy raid stuff really turned them off or something. This game is a lot more casual friendly.. the powerful gear isn't locked behind raids and nightfalls. Its all RnG and weekly resets. It works for me. I think the raid could use a bit better rewards... but not playing because the best gear is locked behind a weekly reset is a bit of an asinine excuse. Nothing was enjoyable about that. I have all but 3 exotic weapons in my collection, the armor is a bit harder to come by.
I'm still playing so its doing something right.

So I've watched all of it and I think its an awesome show, but not the greatest thing ever.
Tyrion, The Hound, and Bronn are my favorite characters.
The one thing that irks me about this show is how every act of good turns into some type of folly that cascades into a next conflict. I mean they practically handed the Night King a dragon at the end. Cersei is way too predictable, as if she'd really agree to help in the war against the dead. I wish Jaime would put a sword through her and be done with it. Now we have an upcoming conflict between Snow and Dany about who is the rightful heir. With their unknowingly Jaime/Cersei type deal going, you'd think they'd just be cool with it, but nah its going to be another conflict. Seems like there is too much to resolve in the final season and we might get unanswered questions or rushed resolutions. I hope not, but we'll see.

I just got my skimmer last night before I went to bed. I'm loving this campaign so far. The plot is significantly better than Heart of Thorns. I finally got to hear Rytlock's story about what happened in the mists. Thanks alot Rytlock. I'm glad all players get to see the re-enactment of how Kormir takes god powers all on her own without asking anyone else if they want to take the burden. lol. She power grabbed so fast that she sprinted right to her goal.  I can still basically hear the hero "Wait Kormir!.... I deserve this, not you!"

Ok yeah, the Jackal is pretty awesome, but outside of the PoF maps its not as awesome. It can teleport through the air 3 times as it gets a DD type endurance bar, but it does lose some height so its not as good as the raptor jump. The Sand Portals are what makes it interesting. I've been wondered why there was a mastery point in the Desert Highlands that said it was above when all I could see was sky. Later i found a sand portal when I got as high as I could in that area. It took me through 2 sandy sky roads that ended in portals until I got to a platform way up in the stratosphere with the MP. I'm looking forward to all the hidden areas these portals will take me.

I beat the story. It took me about 12 hours. If you tried to hardcore speed run it, I doubt you could do it faster than 9-10. I only got side tracked doing hearts once, other than that I was going from chapter to chapter in between getting mounts. The only time it was gated was getting the Springer mount. You needed to get the canyon jump for the raptor to get to that area. The skimmer was only needed for one part, and the jackal is just extra for story... it seems a good bit of MP are gated behind it's abilities though. Once you get the Springer a wealth of MP become available, and you get one for each part of the story you do. You never really feel impeded by these. Each of the 3 mounts after the Raptor require a renowned heart to do, they offer the unsummonable mount and get you to practice its abilities to complete the heart. If only they'd have a CC heart. I'd say the Raptor is my favorite, its upgraded jump covers a lot of distance as long as you aren't going up hill. The Jackal is pretty neat, but seems situational.
The story was damn good. Bravo to Anet for the voice acting, and the writing. Canach and Rytlock were epic with their back and forth banter. I had a lot of good laughs. Steve Blum and John DiMaggio were on top of their game. You'd never be able to tell it was Spike and Bender. There was comedy, drama, suspense, surprises, and action. There was a large amount of variety as well. It wasn't a rinse and repeat "beat this enemy, defend this gate, talk to this person". Some of the achievements were pretty shit though. They either required 2 play throughs to do the opposite thing you did before, required a mount you wouldn't have had access too yet, or they were only soloable with a high DPS class. With how long the story was, it would be tedious to grind this. But I'm glad the story was long... and that the final boss wasn't bugged like Mordy.

So I finally beat the story today and I have to say I'm actually quite impressed with what Bungie did with Destiny 2. Story was great but there were a few low points, as DX said the humor was upped considerably (I now officially love Cayde even more), and the loot is generously doled out as you level (I got 2 exotic engrams before I was even 12, one from a public event and one from a random chest). While I still have problems with the game (there's a few things they didn't change from D1 that irk me and I'm still pissed about the Crucible changes) all in all it's definitely worth a buy and play through if your so inclined (though if you're not willing to pay full price wait until it goes on sale).
Now to start the long and arduous power level grind, ugh.

I really enjoyed it. For a remake, it was really well done. I never read the book, so I don't know how much closer this was to it over the mini-series. Obviously they couldn't fit everything into a +2 hour film, and they didn't try to cram the whole thing into a single film. I read there will be a second film, so I look forward to it.

At least you CAN grind it in PvE, thats really all I ever asked for. In D1 getting a legendary alone was a feat, and then it would be a low light level.
I got MIDA and Strum tonight. Mine are only 284 and 285 though. That MIDA mini-tool is a damn good SMG. I also managed to get Sweet Business to drop off an engram I got during an adventure. Its crazy how these things drop from anywhere. That would be my 7th one as well. I need to do the nightfall and have 5 minutes left to get the Rat King. Once I get two crucible matches out of the way that is. These bounties are fairly reasonable to do. I'm glad there is no "get 50 void kills in the crucible".
I'm at 272 now. I did get clan rewards from the guys I did raids with. It dropped me some good armor. I figured as long as I keep giving XP I can stick around, I only know 1 of them IRL. All I'm really doing now is trying to hit every adventure. I joined a friend that just started yesterday and I like how it does a GW2 style scaling to where I couldn't wreck everything with one shot... and I even got a legendary engram to drop during the mission. He was level 8, so it was pretty impressive. I really need to start another character soon. As much as I like Strum I'd rather get Sun Shot and use Strum to infuse it. Strum takes a little to long to reload for my liking.

Heh, Teawrex finally hit 290 today after 7 hours of grinding for it. It's nice they're so giving with the legendary and exotic gear but it seems they want you to work for that damn power level (which apparently the highest PL guardian right now is or was sitting at 296 as of 4 pm today). Seems to be the best way of going about it is just grinding out rep with each of the factions and hoping for the best (and getting in a clan, the damn rewards you get from that can be fucking amazing from what I've seen) as well as doing you're exotic weapon quests and what not (Tea has a Strum at 294 (Kinetic Exotic Handcannon, pretty sweet looking if you ask me. He had a 294 Multi-tool but he infused it into a legendary energy scout) until the raid goes live Wednesday.
The Nightfall looked pretty damn interesting (I was watching Gothalion and Broman do it this morning) and I kind of like the idea of a time limit (though it doesn't seem to be all that bad, they cleared with plenty of time to spare). Sadly the one downside to watching Tea play is he doesn't do the Strikes since he's so obsessed with hitting 300 PL before the raid so it's nice to hear that at least some of them are fun.
After watching Tea grind all day today (yea, I spent a lot of time watching Twitch today. I really need to find something better to do with my time on days off) I broke down and purchased it, just waiting on it to download (got the standard edition, if I end up enjoying it I'll buy the season pass). The adventures look like fun (and they're nice little additions to the story), public events actually look like they're worth doing now (and those heroic versions for some of them look like fun), the story seems pretty damn solid, and honestly I'm just surprised by how much Bungie did to improve upon shit they fucked up in D1 (there are still things I see that didn't get fixed but they're minor). I look forward to giving this a go tomorrow after my initial FFXIV grind, will be a nice distraction until I get my ass in gear to play Horizon.

Yes I did beat the story in a day, but you have to remember I played 5 hours of launch night, and then played from 11am to 4am that day. At your pace Sledge, it would probably take you a month to beat the campaign.   There is plenty to log back in for each day. It seems the planet challenges are daily? Earth and Io changed for me, but Nessus is still on what I was working on the previous day... maybe its 24 hours after doing all the challenges. The adventures could be considered part of the story, more appear after you beat the campaign. These must have replaced grimoire cards because they are actually lengthy side stories. The challenge missions are as well. Once you beat the challenge missions on each planet you get what amounts to the old style bounty for an exotic weapon. I had to stop doing those because they take up an weapon inventory slot just like the old ones. C'mon Bungie, why?
Anyways, Ive played through a lot of these things and the stories are pretty neat. And you actually can repeat them if you like them enough. They become available at the planet's NPC rep vendor after you do them. My favorite one so far was ole Rasputin luring me into a damn Vex death trap, and then periodically trolling them with some type of hypnosis music while I killed them. I've also managed to reach power level 264 doing all open world PvE. To do the nightfall you must reach 230 for reference. I seems every time you do reach a new level of rep with these vendors you get a more powerful legendary engram.
I'm pleasantly surprised. I like this game way more than I thought I would. If the DLC adds more planets, more adventures, and what not, it will be worth it for me. Even though I have all exotic and legendary gear, blues are still worth picking up for infusions. So doing public events and adventures that only give you rare gear, are still worth doing because they could drop a blue that has a higher attack power than what you have. They must have put someone else in charge of designing this loot system, because its the best I've seen in any RNG based game... and its crazy I can say that. What is even funnier, is I am seeing a few friends trying to acquire loot the old way. When I log on I see them doing strikes or PvP, and I'm like 20 points higher than them with a few hours less of playtime.
Strider I meant that as a joke. Those milestones are just a short intro the first time you launch the game. I'm not sure if you can ever look at it again after that. I thought it was a cool tribute. I had a VoG clear, Crota clear, Made it to the Light House on Trials of Osiris, and The Black Garden. If all you did was VoG, then you'll only see 2 cards for that and us beating the last mission. Get it for what ever platform you want. Like you said our play times may not match up. I'm generally off on Sunday's and Wednesday's, otherwise I play from 10:30pm to about 3am central time. If you do get it for PS4, I'd be more than happy to team up when possible. It seems a few of these bounties require you to be in a fireteam of at least 2.
On a final note.... The Taken are annoying as fuck. At least those of us that didn't buy any DLC outside of the season pass get to experience it in this game. I'm curious if they put in subtle alternate dialog for players based on their save date from D1. The first time I encoutered them the whole Oryx thing was explained, and it was the only time something like that was made out like it was brand new to me. Oh and Swords are bad ass. I didn't think I'd like them, but they are among my favorite power weapon. I have an arc one just to slay the shit out of fallen captains. The fact that you don't need to reload them ever makes them great for panic moments. Nothing worse than swapping to your power weapon only to have to reload it because you previously used up all the ammo.

Thanks for all the info on the game. Its good to read up on what I'm missing out on. I still don't think I'll be rushing out to buy this any time soon, but its good to know that Bungie is moving forward with improvements. Although I'm surprised they had those max server issues on day one.
How many hours did it take you to beat the campaign? Now that you've had the game for 2 days, you're already at the end game content. How is it so far? Are you feeling compelled to keep logging in daily to get more loot? Or is the loot so plentiful now you'll get best in slot for everything within a matter of a few weeks and run out of things to do?

Did you get through a bunch of your steam backlog now that you have a PC that can play everything?
