  1. Sledgstone liked a reply to a status update by DeathscytheX in Being in the grocery business for over a decade and a half you see a lot of product
Always make a note of the the ounce count on things that you buy regularly when its measured as such. Just about everything has gotten smaller over the past 5 years. Juice, Cereal, and frozen products most notably. They've gotten exceptionally clever in hiding downsized product. Every time there is a complete package/bottle redesign I make sure to look at the old version and compare it to what came in. For example, if you ever see those Tai-pei single serve fried rice meals in your frozen food section, they use to be shaped like the take out boxes you get from Chinese restaurants. Now they are in an oblong oval cup with a lid. They actually look bigger and feel bigger in the hand, but they went from 14oz to 10oz. You can Google image search Tai-Pei right now and see both boxes since this change just took place 3-4 months ago. Seeing as I deal with these products every day, I notice it, but if I didn't work in a grocery store I probably never would. Cereal is by far the worst offender of them all. Most of the cereal boxes these days are a joke. They might hold 3-4 bowls max. I remember as a kid eating 3-4 bowls of coco puffs in one sitting and the box lasting a whole week at least. Really old school cerreals like Cracklin' Oats are in super tiny boxes that may have 2 servings and they still cost $4-5... probably because it still has real ingredients in it. Even Malt-O-Meal knock off bags are way smaller than back in the day. About the only product you can rely on to stay the same size is cheese. People are willing to pay higher prices for the same amount regardless. Plus there is a crazy amount of options and competition. We've gone from a world dominated by store brand and Kraft, to a Renaissance of higher tier offerings like Cracker Barrel, Cabot, Borden, Sargento, Laughing Cow, Babybel, etc. The one trend that has died over the years and I hope it never comes back is the diet flavor of the year. A long time ago I remember stupid diets getting hot and we'd get all this garbage product that no one would buy, and it would all be discontinued when the popularity died off. South Beach Diet had a ton of frozen dinners, and other things. Atkins had frozen dinners, juices, yogurts, cheeses, I mean the store was loaded with that crap. The week he died, it all got discontinued and marked down for close out.

I'm not sure. I mean I can adjust the settings manually. I can turn the head lights off for sure, but I'll have to check on the LED day lights. I think those might stay on regardless.   The CVT is really nice. I've read the technology had a rough start, at least for some american car makers. Honda's is one of the best. I've read its cheaper to maintain in case something goes wrong because its belts and pulleys rather than a giant tube of gears you have to completely disassemble just to see what's wrong.

I love rear back up cameras and i wish my car had one. It's so convenient. That's a hell of a nice looking ride you got. Congrats!

I got the Civic. I was willing to pay a lot more for it than the VW. I hate car buying with a passion, but it seems a lot of dealerships have toned down their aggressiveness these days. My sales person was a young black lady that was really nice. It was a bit different from the usual white lanky guy with a cheesy grin that I'm use to getting. Maybe they take this approach now so you'd feel bad for beating up the sales rep with hardball. She was 21, and I knew more about the technical details of the car than she did. After she went over the obvious features, I started overwhelming her with questions about the CVT transmission and other mechanical aspects of the car.   I was a bit irritated at first because their webiste along with cargurus had the car listed at $21,870, but when I got to the dealership it was more like $23,500 with stupid dent protection and stuff. I cut to the chase and said I didn't need any of it. I don't plan on reselling this car for at least a decade if ever. It's going to get dents. I was able to talk them down to $20,000 OTD. I went in with the mindset to get it for $19,500 at maximum, but I really wanted this car and they beat my credit union's APR so I financed with them as well so they'll get their $23-24k after interest in the end. It was time to pull the trigger because I know the fed is going to raise interest rates soon, especially with the stock market finally slipping in anticipation.   This car drives like a dream. Its super responsive and has a lot of get up and go. Its very quiet on the inside. The only drawback is that the sound system is pretty shit. No bass... it's the first car I've had with the base model sound system. It's not that big of a deal because I listen to talk radio most of the time anyways. I'm not use to all these fancy features like rear back up cam, that I'll never use because I'm too old school and I'll still twist my neck and look back. I realize how bad my Mustang's suspension got when I drove over the little speed grooves on my way home and didn't even feel them in my new car. I've also driven about 30 miles and the gas meter hasn't budged.   As for my Mustang. I'll donate it to a local charity that gives them to disabled vets. They'll take it and fix it up and give it to someone that is in need that served our country. I feel like that is a good cause to put it towards.

No not yet. Hopefully this Wednesday. Its a 30 min drive on the interstate and my current car isn't interstate worthy anymore. My family is my ride across the bay, but they've had the flu all week, and I'm trying not to get it myself. Its been a real bad epidemic in this city.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the Golf Wednesday if any are still there. I got preapproved for a loan at 1.99% APR for 60 months. The only problem is the Credit Union i chose for this rate is living in the stone age and doesn't do any type of electronic transmissions so I'm going to have to go back and forth with the bill of sale and then I'll have to drive up there to make payments... but no one else can touch 1.99% unless its like 34 months. Otherwise its like 2.5%. It'll be worth the inconvenience since its by my house and across the street from my job.

They were pretty similar cars when you got yours, Civic has really stepped up its game, while the Corolla has fallen behind. Its pretty impressive how much Honda has packed into this car. Someone I went to school with got one recently and noted he opted for the Civic over the Accord because it had more to offer. Its actually more luxurious than the Golf, but the Golf has more driving performance. I've never been too big on luxury, but whatever I can get the best deal on between the two is what I'll go with. Right now there is a pretty decent deal on a Golf, but I have to wait for my tax return to come so I can get a good down payment.

Yeah that's a crazy deal. You only get a 90 day 5000 mile warranty for a used car around here. You're pretty much up shit creek if something goes wrong after that, which pretty much did on my Mustang. When it comes to American cars, it seems they're all built to break down after 70k miles, unless its a truck, those things last forever but they also cost $45-80k. My dad has a F150 with like 300k miles on it and its still going strong. Hes just had to replace some hoses and belts that dry rotted from being so old and worn. I've never been a truck fan, I like to be low to the ground and nimble. While trucks last a long time, the maintenance is still more expensive. Tires are astronomically more expensive and you still need to replace them with the same frequency. Gas mileage is subpar and to fill up is double or triple depending on your tank.

Wow its only a 5gig download. With as large as the game is that I've seen from E3, thats pretty crazy. BoTW is almost 14gb if you do digital. But I guess the vast scope of BoTW's map with its crazy terrain, towers, 100+ shrines, and 4 moving dungeons demands more.

Yeah the menthol burns like crazy, but damn it works. It reminds me of Listerine, and why I don't use any of that "no burn" stuff Crest and others make... it just doesn't feel like its working unless my gums feel like they are being bathed in acid and fire.

Nah, it was a tradition for SAW 1-7, I asked off for it to keep it going.
Sunshine was amazing, they'll probably never port it unless it came with a special gamecube controller. The water jets were button pressure sensitive, and all 3 consoles ditched that tech this generation.

I got it not too much longer after Overwatch came out. So it's been more than a year. I could send it in for repair later, but I bought one that was on sale with less features. The back buttons are all I care about.
  12. DeathscytheX liked a reply to a status update by Strider Hiryu in I just finished Drifters on Funimation. Its from the same people that made Hellsing
The thing you have to remember about Hellsing is the manga was still publishing when the first series was created which is why is ended like it did (believe me when I tell you shit gets a lot darker and fucking crazy later in the manga). Hellsing Ultimate (the one you should watch (if you have and still have those thoughts I just don't know about you anymore :P) adapts the actual manga into 10 50 minute episodes (definitely the version to watch if you haven't, I've only see up to ep 4 but I have it all to watch, just need to find time to actually do so (so much shit to watch on Crunchyroll and I just started watching Rick and Morty so I have that to get caught up on as well)).
Meh, I might have to check that out if I find time to (Crunchyroll does have it so it wouldn't be out of my way to do so).

I finished the Siren's Landing JP tonight, and it actually wasn't bad at all. It had one of my least favorite things in landing on precise slim poles, but I some how made every landing. There are two check points marked by waterlogged chests. Since you got to cheat on the Searing Accent without having to use them, they work by special action key if you fall, you can just use it to teleport back to the chest. I think if you die it goes away though. But there shouldn't be any reason to die since you can glide. The second and last check point is half way through the JP though so you basically have to do half of it with the most pole jumps between that and the end. I did it on my DD, when I normally do these on my mesmer for portal insurance. I was brave. You should def portal scroll your mes since the JP is right near the start. Either way it was the least frustrating next to the Doric puzzle if you can call that a JP. I actually did most of it by myself only referring to the dulfy video when I wasn't 100% sure.

Wow. I can bury my face in my dog's fur no problem. Cats love me though, they always try to get on my shoulders and rub on my face. A few of my friends have them and they always come sit in my lap and cuddle when I come over. When I wore contacts I'd wash my hands super thoroughly, and rinse my contacts extra long... but sometimes it didn't matter somehow. I'd pop one in and the veins shot across my eye like a Hollywood earthquake movie fault-line. I'd take it out fast enough and rinse it some more, but my eye would be pink and irritated for a good 30 min to an hour.

Yeah I can drive 30 min to a casino too, in another state. I live in that southern little tip of AL that only takes 40 min to drive from one side to the other. It's a 10 min drive from my house to MS and 30 to FL.

NY state is crazy with taxes, especially property taxes. Back when I lived in Ohio I always thought of NY as this super expensive place to live with crazy high taxes and living costs. Then when I moved to central new york, I realized all my impressions of the entire state were of just New York City. That city is basically in New Jersey and it still surprises me that its even part of this state. I've still never gone to NYC and I don't think I'd ever want to since I don't want anything to do with a huge population center like that. Where I live its basically all farms everywhere. I can drive down my street and see at least 10 corn fields and 2 cow farms. Sales taxes here are around 8%. NY state tax returns have a separate section for NYC and Yonkers residents, probably because they get taxed more. Where I live the worst tax issues are the property taxes. School taxes are insane. I don't mind the schools giving kids a good education, but why the fuck does everyone have to pay at least $2-3,000 a year in school taxes for life if they own property? Total taxes on a normal single family home around here in a rural area are around $3500 a year, unless you live in a village or more suburban area, then its closer to $5,000 a year. $5,000 a year is $416 a month and thats not even counting the mortgage of a house. wtf. And they wonder why people can't afford to live here. The taxes are also so high, though politicians here wont admit it, is because they give almost every corporation ridiculously low tax rates. All the citizens are subsidizing the corporation's free ride in hopes of economic growth and higher paying jobs. Instead the corporations give shit jobs so they have a better bottom line, while paying low as hell taxes and keep all the profits. If they want to improve quality of life here, they really need to lower the property taxes.
Although I will admit, with the high taxes that get paid we do have a good education system, police force, snow removal, street sweepers, etc. You wont see a single road around here with litter on the side of the street unless you go into down town Syracuse, Rochester or the NYC area. The majority of Syracuse is a shit hole tho imo. As for North country (what we call the north part of NY state), that place might as well be in Canada. I've only been up that way once and its so damn rural it makes the area I live in look too busy. I bet half that area all still leave their houses and cars unlocked at night with nothing to worry about.
No lotto tickets in your state!? wow. I could go drive to a casino in 30 mins and hit the black jack table today if I wanted to. There is one big tax loop hole in this state and thats for cigarettes. NY state charges almost the same price as a pack of smokes in taxes. Like if a pack costs $4.99, with tax here it'll cost you $10.80 a pack. But we go to the native american's land and buy their cigarettes tax free. One carton of 10 packs only costs $26 there, while at gas stations that would set everyone else back around $100.
  21. DeathscytheX liked a reply to a status update by Strider Hiryu in So the Stormblood Early Access is fucking broke and everyone in NA trying to play
The problem is this is an issue that should not be an issue. If they'd of fucking rented extra servers for the month to help alleviate the congestion that comes with every major expansion launch everyone would be happy right now (or for fuck sake they could put this and the other two instanced story missions behind a fucking queue so people could get through it but no they opted to put a hard cap of 1 person per server on it and it's like trying to win a radio call in contest (its all about timing and luck) to get through). There is no way SE didn't know how many people would be playing early access, they have the fucking sales numbers and the early access code redemption's to go off of. They're other mistake was releasing early access on a Friday when fucking everybody would be able to get on after work to play. They really fucked up and now they're trying to fix issues for the 1% of the player base that actually made it through Raubahn Ex (it's what we're calling the problem, the npc that starts the mission is name Raubahn) instead of helping the 99% that can't.
Yea I'm fucking salty about this. It's day 3, I'm nowhere near getting past this MSQ, I got up at 1:30 am to attempt to get through when server load would be at it's least (which it isn't, everyone seems to have had the same idea), and now servers are going down to fix the issue I mentioned above instead of helping out those of us who can't progress. I'm seriously debating canceling my subscription and demanding a refund on my copy of the expansion when I get it. I've never seen such blatant disrespect for players and paying customers like this (fuck even Blizzard has done better at placating the crowd when shit hit the fan in WoW). Like I told a guild mate yesterday I pay $210 a year to play this fucking game (I pay in 6 month blocks plus I also pay for an additional 2 retainers (our version of a bank/storage facility)) and I dropped $230 on the Collector's Edition of Stormblood, I don't think it's too much to ask to make sure you fucking give answers to the issues at hand instead of saying "We're looking into it, keep trying on your own to get in" or "Working as intended, quick your damn bitching" (note the last one has never been said but most of us are starting to feel like this is what they're trying to say).
