Oh and if a police getaway gets too frustrating and your near a body of water. Just jump in and swim away... grab a boat if possible... its the easiest escape possible.

Won't they shoot you while you're swimming?

If you're in pursuit and drive your car into the water you'll be kicked out. that give you somewhat of a head start. Their aim isnt that great from medium range and as you swim off they'll only try to drive around the edge of the water... eventually you'll be too far out of their line of site. The only time you need to worry is when there is a chopper. But disabling it twice makes it go away. I think its just an unintended glitch.
