  1.  I started Revisions on Netflix. The first episode has awful and janky CGI but it gets a lot better after that. The premise is great, but for fucks sake the main character is so damn annoying. He makes Asta from Black Clover look like a good character. Mecha series have the absolute worst main characters the majority of the time. I just don't get it. Mikazuki Augus, Sousuke Sagara, Lelouch Vi Britannia, and Van of the Dawn are the only ones I can think of that I've ever liked. But here we don't have your typical emotionless husk, or pacifist crybaby... you'd only wish for that once you meet Daisuke Dojima. He's ultra full of himself and a selfish idiot. Holy cow he should be a side character. All his friends aren't that great either as they all bicker with Daisuke's douchness. Why am I even watching this? XD

  2. Netflix put Code Geass up. Rewatching it reminded me what a badass Cornelia was (ultra best girl), and how savage Euphemia's death was. Damn it was so gut wrenching. It will always be the moment I'll never forget about the series.

Also, how I yearn for a return drawn mecha battles. Even the most degraded model quality in motion is so much better than wonky slow CGI. The Lancelot is such an awesome design.

I also didn't realize how shit Zero was the first time I watched it. He only won his first and last battle... every other one was a complete failure minus Euphy's massacre. Yet the Black Knights kept following him even though he abandoned them multiple times. XD Plus he forgot all about Kallen, the second most bad ass female behind Cornelia, after she was captured. She just escaped by chance. There were several times, several people could have revealed his identity and ruined him... I mean the only one that made sense was Euphy since she loved Lelouch and had to reason to hate him. I guess the story isn't all that great, but I still love it.

I also like the fact that Netflix deemed the series TV-14 even though Villetta's and Kallen's tits flop out multiple times. XD WTF, I guess it would get through any parental control options.

  3. Eh, we got cheated on this short season of GoT. As cool as the winterfell battle was, the Night King's death felt so meaningless. And now Danny is insane?  C'mon... Yeah shes my favorite character, and I wouldn't have minded a descent into madness, but a flip in 2 eps? It's so forced it's sad. Just because Jon told the fam about his heritage and her friend got cut down. It made for an action packed ep, but it didnt make a lot of sense. The Hound and Mountain rivalry was resolved which is what I'm satisfied with... Mountain looked like bloated Darth Vader. 😂😂

I had four favorite characters. Two made it all the way to the end... the other two made it to the final two episodes. Not bad. Tyrion, Bronn, Sandor, and Dany. Dany got screwed as a character... like I said, it could have worked with more development. The end of it was there, and sorta the beginning when he burned Sam's father and brother, but the path in between was nonexistent. The Master of Grammar line was the best part of the finale. XD

Dany should have been queen and not gone all super tyrannical. 😕 The writing was bad and the ending was so blah compared to the rest of the series. It could have gone alot better. Now my major concern is the two directors. Once there was no more source material this is the best they could come up with? These are the two guys that will be directing the next trilogy of star wars movies. Ugh.

Btw I saw 2 memes last night.. I should have saved them. Both were of Bronn. One quoted Dany's speech about breaking wheels and there's Bronn in his wheel chair "what was that about wheels?" XD the other showed Bronn sitting in the wheel chair.. "Bronn has been sitting on the throne for the last 8 seasons" or something like that. XD

      It definitely got Fullmetal Alchemist'ed

  4. 13 episodes into The Rising of the Shield Hero, and this show is pretty much taken the crown for this season... or last season depending.. I guess it counts for both as its still going. Unlike most Isekai, the main character is constantly getting screwed and is always at a disadvantage. The pure hatred you feel for all the other characters in this alternate world of douche is amazing. Literally everyone except a small handful of people are assholes. So the main character tends to go Mass Effect Renegade at times. The emotional vitriol this show invokes is outstanding. The animation of the characters and the dub voice actors nail it completely... as someone that it doesn't take much to want a character to die... I REALLY want 90% of the cast dead. XD

  5. The Warclaw mount is the best thing to ever happen to WvW, at least for casuals like myself. You can't be trolled by roamers making YT montages, you can escape fights you don't want to be in, and you can get back to the action pretty fast if you die in a zerg v zerg fight. It eliminated the downtime of a boring long trek back to the front lines that could have ended up in death before you even got there. That was the biggest turn off of WvW for me. Also, with how many people are running support firebrand, scourge, and chrono, the heals are so good I rarely die with my glass cannon PvE builds. I can see myself starting to farm some more gifts of battle now, and actually enjoy it rather than seeing it as a chore.

  6. Hands down, tonight's episode of GoT was their crowning achievement. I can't see the last 3 eps topping it. Simply incredible.

With only a few episodes left I was expecting a large majority of characters to die just so the show wouldn't have to finish up a bunch of plot lines. lol. I figured it was going to be lazy writing with this season only being 5 episodes. I imagine a board room meeting.. Producer: "We have 5 episodes left with about 300 plot lines going on.. whats the best way to resolve this massive story?" Other guy: "Kill 90% of the characters, no plot lines to resolve if they're dead." Other Other guy: "Instead of killing everyone, lets bring in Ghost with no reason as to how he survived or where hes been for the last 4 seasons.. then everyone will focus on that wolf and ignore the other 8 seasons of unresolved plot lines." XD

All those NPCs lost in that battle. XD I bet she left multiple groups of sully and dothraki guarding different locations along their path. She conquered alot of kingdoms on her way to the north. She'll probably pull those troops in for the final battle against Cersei. If not, then they're pretty screwed. That was a horrible strategy with the dothraki.. don't lead with a dragon breath attack or anything.

That ultra dark was dumb. When my tv is outputting lines of grey/black like dark lens flares because its so damn dark nothing can be seen it really made the quality look piss poor. Considering GOT budget is massive they could have done that alot better, especially since they had so many epic battles in pure day light in previous episodes.

Jorah would have given his life for her on so many occasions.. at least he died doing what he swore to do.

Its 6 episodes though 😛 The next ep is 78 min, and the last 2 eps will be 79 min. The Battle for Winterfel is the seasons longest ep at 82 min.

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lol. At least they have 3 more eps to finish up. I hope we get to see Cersei killed off.

  7. O... M... G!! I just watched the first ep of The Helpful Fox Senko-san and it was so freaking adorable.  XD The ED is already a top contender. The season doesn't kick into full swing for the dub until this weekend but so far I'm digging Wise Man's Grandchild. Yu-No is interesting but it could end up like RErideD. I'm mostly interested in Fairy Gone, AFTERLOST, and Midnight Occult Civil Servants... but it looks like I'll be watching most of the series this season as well.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Told you Senko-san was adorable :P Besides Demon Slayer it's probably my top pick of what I'm watching this season.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Ah yes Demon Slayer too.. plus Mob Pyscho 100 II and Shield Hero are super late but finally coming to Funi dubbed. So that piles it up because Mob was my top pick for last season but I guess the whole CR split messed up something for a while. I just wish Funi didn't act like it was still a Simuldub and throw all the eps up Netflix style.

  8. Finished Ultraman on Netflix, the story was good but it left too much unanswered... and the biggest travesty was the CGI. Holy cow it was wildly inconsistent and mostly all bad. The distance shots looked like some PS1 stuff, like they didnt know what shading was. They spent all the money on the final fight which was awesome, and then the last few minutes got really bad. XD

  9. I never watched the original Fruit Basket because the description just sounded too silly. The premise of all anime is that at least one of the protagonists has a flaw. Luffy can't swim, Inuyasha turns human on the full moon, etc. I just generally dislike when a flaw is so overwhelming it's a massive inconvenience. BUT Since the simuldub started Friday I'll be watching the reboot. It seems to have a huge following and the first ep was quite good.

I must say, the dub for FB is phenomenal. Comparing a scene from the original to the new one, you can tell how the cast has improved their craft over the years. Its the same people but they're projecting their emotions in a more natural way. Plus the recording equipment is obviously superior today. The original sounds like they recorded it in a janitor's closet. The animation quality is so beautiful, the original looks so bad to me putting it side by side. XD Now I think about what other series they could do like this. Yu Yu Hakusho would be amazing along with Inu Yasha.

Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life and Senko-San also have really good dubs so far. Funi has stepped up their game on casting this season. I'd say Space Dandy is probably the best dub they've put together before this season. Not that their dubs in the last 5 years have been lacking, but there is always a show here and there that takes it to the next level. I just glad they didn't use one of their squeaker box VAs for Senko as they tend to go overboard with that for little female characters. I can't remember the VA's name, but that's her real life voice. *shutter*

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

O.o Senko with a squeaky voice would be horrid, it'd take away from her healing factor (I haven't heard her dub voice but her Japanese VA is amazing, they chose well on that one).

Can we just say that FB is fucking amazing? The newest ep is a probably my favorite episode thus far (so much emotion) and her Grandfather is a fucking badass (that's all I'll say). Gah, kinda wish I would of watched the original all the way through but I'm glad it's getting this remake because I never knew I needed this show in my life until now (same could be said for Senko-san as well).

    4. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Yes the past episode was really good. Two completely different types of anime but Tohru reminds me of Saber from Fate/Zero, in the way I don't want anything bad to happen to her because shes such a nice person.

The person they picked for Senko hasn't done a lot of big roles from her casting history, but shes killing it with the extremely joyful yet soothing voice. I just noticed she did Demon Lord Milim which is crazy because she was kinda squeaky there, but it fit the character's persona. I wouldn't have guessed it.

  10. I just discovered Hyouka and I'm hooked. The animation is stunningly beautiful... not Evergarden tier, but extremely good compared with most. The Chemistry between Hotaro and Chitanda is outstanding. Chitanda is super adorable and Hotaro's lack of enthusiasm for anything just makes their interactions great. Plus the "mysteries" are intriguing as they go about solving them.

  11. Anthem isn't perfect. It probably should have been delayed another 6-8 months, but its a hell of a lot of fun. I just find it funny how Destiny can rack up big review scores with the similar issues and significantly less content. The popular thing to do right now is crap on EA, and its justified... but it'll be a shame if this game gets the plugged pulled on it early. There is a lot of potential here to fill the gap until the next gen consoles come. Arekkz has the most realistic take on the game, the rest of the YT community is just spitting out talking points which is kinda sad too see since they're suppose to be the alternate to big game sites.

Dragon Age 4 has already been confirmed to be in development but whether or not it will continue is up in the air currently with this latest fiasco. I also recently started playing TOR again so I'd really hate for that to get shuttered as well (though it is on the outs, current dev team is only 6 or so people).

With everything I've been hearing about Div 2 I'm sure it'll be a success but I'll hold my thoughts for after this weekends open beta but if it delivers more content both in the beginning and in the endgame it'll put the nail in the coffin for Anthem. I wouldn't go so far as to push Anthem to next gen but I definitely think it needed at least another 6 months before they launched it.

Gaming has been into a downfall ever since DLC became a thing back in the early 360/PS3 days and has continued to do so ever since Publishers have realized they can start monetizing every game like they do MMO's and Mobile games. Games as a service is probably the worst thing to ever happen to the industry and it's really turning me away from gaming outside of FFXIV and the few titles like Nier and Horizon. As much as I love this hobby I'm getting to the point where I can take it or leave it (I mean I'm down to buying 2-3 games a year now and rarely have time to even finish 1 of them).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

It's a shame Anthem didn't get fully polished. How is the overall campaign? Is it worth watching a play through on youtube?

    4. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

No not really. XD It would be like watching The Division. The story is actually pretty forgettable, but even if it wasn't, I can't see it being much fun watching people shoot, fly and take cover constantly. And then walking around fort Tarsis talking to random NPCs. I'd say cut scenes make up 2% of the whole experience. There might have been 5 in the whole 30+ hours it took to beat. Each individual mission was fun to play and I got geared up enough to jump into Grandmaster 1 difficulty just from doing the story.

  12. Last Spring was an anime season of epicness. This season is of charm and adorableness. Meiji Tokyo Renka, My Roommate is a Cat, The Quintessential Quintuplets, and ENDRO have all captured my heart and they're not even my favorites this season. I'll def have my work cut out for me doing a full review at the end.

  13. I finally passed the anime in the AoT manga. This next half of season 3 is probably going to end before they explain everything, where the titans came from, the world outside the walls, and how everything happened. It's interesting, but I feel like it makes the series lose a major component which was the mystery of why anything was happening. The anime is about to get as intense as season 1 was, but after that I can see people getting bored with the next season unless the really fly through this section of explanations. I don't think they will though because the anime has been the manga verbatim.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

The manga actually explains all that? Wow.. I need to start reading the manga again.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Yeah, they finally get to Eren's father's basement and everything about the world is revealed through his fathers records. And through that they pretty much spoil who the beast titan is, although I suspect they did that on purpose since they make a big what to do about it before they get there.

  14. I'll pass on a review of the Fall simuldub lineup. Mostly because everything I like is bleeding into the new season minus SSSS.Gridman, ZOMBIE LAND SAGA, and Goblin Slayer. There rest was underwhelming, absolute trash, or not dubbed. As someone that enjoys a fanservice fest now and then, I don't get the appeal of SENRAN KAGURA, After 3 eps, I was like "holy shit this is so bad". XD I guess because it tries to be so serious. Anyways, I watched the first ep of Magical Girl Spec Ops, and it was pretty awesome. I think this is closer to what I was expecting from Raising Project. Seeing a magical girl slice up a bunch of people with a karambit was pretty awesome. XD Boogiepop and Others is interesting so far so I'll stick with it. Still waiting for Mob Psycho 100 season 2 to start the dub, and I guess I'll ride the hype train for The Rising of the Shield Hero when it starts.

I thought SAO had a simuldub? I could of sworn I saw it up on the Funimation app (I could be wrong, never actually looked into it since I watch in on CR). Honestly you're not missing much in the way of SAO. The beginning 6-7 eps were pretty much all set up for the current plot and we only recently started getting into some good ass fights but honestly its just more SAO without what made S1 and Mother's Rosario so awesome. I'm honestly not impressed by it (and by what I hear this arc really isn't that great in the books also (though it's technically still the current arc) but it could just be that I'm SAO'd out now that we've done 3 seasons, two short arcs, a movie, and the alternate SAO that aired (that was actually pretty good).

No idea what Rinshi is, never heard of it but a quick google search says it's based off a 4 panel manga that is based on the author's life so that might be why it's so out there (those type of shows usually are).

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Nah, SAO is just a simulcast. I guess thats part of the thing with the CR split, there are 4-5 simulcasts this season when they use to be all dub outside of One Piece.

    4. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Ah, well Toonami will start airing it on the 9th of Feb if you really want to watch it.

  15. I finished Fate/Zero and I'm into season two of Fate/Stay. I really hate how Saber keeps getting screwed over. She's such a nice and honorable character. :( I'm waiting for her overdue redemption.

  17. MOB PSYCHO 100 Season 2 is coming to the Winter Simuldub and I'm really freaking hyped about it. Its def one of the most underrated series of the past few years. The animation is gritty and wild, the action is amazing, and the comedy is outstanding. I can't wait!

  18. I remember when I use to be a huge fighting game fan. I always like to read about the old series I use to play. Apparently 2B is way too strong in Soul Calibur 6. She launched yesterday and people are crying about her already... I'm like no shit, shes OP as hell in the game shes from. XD I called it when I saw the trailer. I honestly wish she'd be a new Smash Bros character.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I haven't played Soul Caliber since the second one so I haven't been following it much. 2B looks like a great fit in the game. I wonder how often they do balance patches.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

The last one I played was the one with Vader and Starkiller. A friend bought it and I remember how frustrating fighting Starkiller was to unlock him. We basically took turns trying to cheese him with Vader by throwing him over the ledge for a double ring out. XD Eventually it worked.

  19. The two best anime this season so far are Goblin Slayer and SSSS.Gridman. Goblin Slayer caused a huge uproar over its first ep.. which honestly is stupid. Plenty of acclaimed anime have had an uncomfortable rape scene. A heavily censored scene that took up all of 10 seconds of the episode. However, whether intended or not, it got everyone talking about it. After that, it resumed as a normal but violent anime. It also wasn't random, it established the goblin's as pure evil. SSSS.Gridman is your standard over the top Trigger mecha anime... but it starts out off the rails. I don't see how they can get much more bat shit crazy. That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, Zombie Land SAGA, and Double Decker: Doug and Kirill have all been fun and quirky though. Overall I'm enjoying this season even if I'm skipping on a few of the shows.

I just watched the episode of SAGA with Lily's dad. They didn't use CG for the end performance, and it was quite nice. I get that its more costly to do it this way, but man it looked way better. As techniques advance, I don't mind CGI too much. I guess I just like consistency way more though. The hybrid can be so jarring at times I much rather have either all CG or all drawn. The method is getting better though. Gridman, as you pointed out is probably the best usage of hybrid CG and animation I've seen to date. Double Decker gets everything right about car chases that FMP!'s last season got wrong. XD Even though I'm not a blu-ray buyer, It would be nice if they went back and animated all the performances in SAGA for the blu-ray/DVD release. I think Sakura and Saki's characters suffer the most in those sequences because of their more intricate and longer hair design.

    4. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I'm pretty sure they'll go back through and clean it up as they always do before a DVD/BD release (there are huge differences in quality between the broadcast version and the home video release, I can name quite a few shows this is true in), whether or not the CG will be any better or not is another question (they usually just go back to fix animation issues that they let slide due to time constraints). I hope they do since I'll probably throw money at the BD release when they get around to releasing it here.

Yea, Sakura and Saki suffer from it the most (Tae does as well but it works in her favor since she's not entirely there and her movements are CG friendly) which sucks because Saki is my favorite character. Sadly the next episode has a CG performance and it's not overly bad but it is cringy (you'll see what I mean when you watch it). It is frustrating though when you have a great episode like Lily's without using CG and you wonder why they just don't do that (besides cutting costs I don't exactly understand, especially when they had a great performance without it. I believe episode 8's performance isn't CG but I'd have to re-watch it to make sure).

  20. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a testament to what single player games can be when you spend years developing them rather than 1-2 years and throw them out there with endless sequels. It would take me a few hours to hammer out my initial thoughts on this game. The level of detail is truly spectacular. My one concern was having to juggle all the health/stamina and weapon maintenance, but somehow Rockstar made it very uncumbersome to where its there, but you don't really have to worry about it every few minutes... I've gone hours without having to rest or use consumables. I've found myself getting lost in just tracking/hunting for hours. The amount of random side content is astonishing. After I get off work tomorrow, I'll have a whole week to dive into it and get lost. I'm really looking forward to it.

  21. With the summer simuldub season coming to a close, it played out like I predicted more or less. I'll wait a bit longer before I post my review. Pretty lackluster overall. But for me, the Fall Lineup is pretty stacked. Fairy Tail, SAO Season 3, and Black Clover continues which has become a lot more promising after this last arc I just watched... by far its strongest and most compelling. I watched the first episode of Double Decker! Doug & Kirill which was entertaining, and SSSS.GRIDMAN seems to be a Pacific Rim clone. Overall a return to more action adventure series, and lighter on the fan service heavy series.

The movie is already on sale (https://www.rightstufanime.com/Sword-Art-Online-the-Movie-Ordinal-Scale-Blu-ray). Aniplex still retains the rights to sell all DVD/BD and other merchandise, Funi just got the english stream rights when Sony acquired the company.

The only thing that sucks about Aniplex is they're extremely overpriced for anything you want to buy (fuck the BD's for SAO are still $60 a pop) through them, it's the reason I haven't bought Kill la Kill yet (I paid out my ass for the Gurren Lagann BD boxset, well worth it since it's GL but damn was it expensive (for comparison I just ordered a new mouse and keyboard for $198, $10 more then I paid for GL)).

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

This is why I stream. I don't miss the old days of swapping out discs every few eps. XD I still buy movies, but screw buying series anymore. I remember buying Fullmetal Alchemist for $100 from Moviestop the days when internet retail was in its infancy. I still remember the 20ft shelf at Suncoast Video that held the entire DBZ series on VHS. XD I haven't bought a series in over 16-17 years, but I remember thinking what a load of crap that 4 eps a disc was. Especially after a friend bought me a bootleg rip of Samurai Champloo from Half.com and it was all on a single DVD. Man those were the days when half.com was not regulated and you could get all kinds of burned DVDs for a fraction of the cost. XD DVD RW was a new technology, and anyone that could afford to upgrade was making a serious profit for minimal effort. The only series I'd consider buying is Violet Evergarden if it ever gets a US physical release. Every now and then I feel like dropping netflix, one day I might.

    4. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

God I'd buy Violet Evergarden in a heartbeat if it got a stateside release (I've actually considered importing it but sadly the Japanese don't include English subtitles in their releases and while I understand enough Japanese to get buy it'd be a hard sell for me). Sadly it's very rare for an anime that Netflix has the rights to to get a stateside release (I'd hate to think how much a company would have to pay to get the physical distribution rights because I'm sure Netflix would put up a fight).

Honestly swapping out discs has never annoyed me. Then again I've been doing it for over 20 years that it's just second nature now. I also like supporting the industry where I can, be it paying to stream content or buying the physical release. I do find myself streaming more than I used to, to the point that I rarely download fansubs anymore (only for shows that CR doesn't get the stream rights/simulcasts for) but nothing ever beats the satisfaction of owning the shows for me, knowing that I can watch them anytime I wish without the worry of CR losing the rights to stream them (hell half of my collection isn't even available to stream). I don't just buy anything though, I only buy shows I've seen and have an attachment to (like Aria, Gurren Lagann, Gundam, etc). It's not like 16 years ago where I bought anything I could get my hands on (a lot of my collection is shows I bought on impulse like Generator Gawl and Martian Successor Nadesico (two shows I'd never heard of and two shows I actually really enjoyed)). Plus I don't spend money on much anymore. I buy maybe 2 games a year now, rarely buy movies, with my Spotify subscription I rarely buy CD's anymore, rarely buy books anymore (which I hate, reading is my favorite past time but I just don't have time to do it anymore), and I rarely eat our/go to movies/or go out drinking. True, I should probably reign my anime spending in a little (I average $500 a year and that's low balling it) but meh.

Well that and I actually re-watch anime all the time. There isn't an anime that I own that I haven't re-watched at least twice (or, in the case of Aria, once a year since I first watched it (so roughly 10 times)). Yea, I really need to get out more x_X

  22. Although its also on the PS4, I purchased Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for the Switch recently because it's just been collecting dust. It was probably the better option anyways because the graphics look like something out of the N64/PS2 era with modern draw rates. Not a knock against it, as its quite charming... but the game looks like it belongs on the Switch rather than PS4. Everything about this game is so 1998. I've never played any of the Ys games before, but this one caught my eye for the old school hack and slash. It's very Dark Cloud-ish minus the world building. Sprinkle some old Zelda in there as well. The combat is relatively simple with 1 button main attack, and 4 special attacks that consist of holding R1 and pressing A B Y X. These use a SP meter that replenishes on kills. There are also dodge and block counters that give you a special speed combo ability. You have a party of 3, and characters that join where you can swap them out and swap between the three in combat. Each character has a assigned damage type (Slash, Precise, Bash). Having all 3 types helps weaken the right enemies susceptible to these plus you get a rare drop bonus... rather than the 1.1x bonus for having two of the same. Anyways, the story is campy but interesting, the dialogue is 90's cringeworthy, and its a lazy sprinkle of actual voice acting and text reading. The world is  large but a bunch of sectioned off instances that quickly load without a loading screen as you cross them. There are fast travel points but not in every sector, so it requires some old school memorizing where to go at times. As you get special gear, you'll find places that were inaccessible previously open up. I'm 20 hours in and I don't feel like I'm even half way through. So at $60, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth for a decent nostalgia kick. I bet this will be a free PS Plus game next year so when it comes up I highly recommend it without even finish it. I'll report back when I beat it with a proper review.

  23. The first two eps of AoT season 3 are better than season 2 in its entirety. XD

Oh crap.. did this start airing on toonami or is it on funi streaming only? O_O

    2. DeathscytheX

The sub is like up to ep 5 or 6. The dub is held up by toonami. So yes next Sunday ep 3 will air.

  24. This simuldub season is pretty meh compared to last. If it wasn't for the fact that MHA and out of all things; Black Clover was still running. I'd be hard pressed to keep up. Ep 1 of Overlord season 3 felt like a waste of time, but the second one made things pretty interesting. Angels of Death seems kind of bland so far. How not to Summon a Demon Lord is a typical fanservice trapped in a video game world show. Same goes for The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar. Lord of Vermilion feels like a better Tokyo Majin.. which isn't saying much. Hopefully it will be something better. Harukana Receive is bouncy bikini beach volley ball, but Haruka is a total best girl, so I'll shamelessly enjoy it. XD On the opposite end, I'll skip Free! because I'm not watching a bunch of dudes swim, and I'm already watching HR and Hanebado... an anime about freakin Badminton. With Dies Irae and AoT not staring until later in the month that leaves three unlikely contenders for a surprise best in season for me, that isn't Overlord or AoT which I already expect to be solid at worst.

Magical Girl Raising Project is apparently a dark ass violent series with cute moe magic girls. XD A total clash of genres. The first two eps only have brief hints at it so far, its mostly just cutesy. But if it turns out like I think it has the potential too. It should be pretty interesting.

Chio's School Road is a "school" anime thats about Chio's walk to school every day, instead of the actual school day. The absolute absurd happens apparently every time. The first three eps have been pretty hysterical so far. Its different, so I like it.

Island is a pretty big mystery to me as to what its suppose to be about. It has my interest to see how it unfolds. It can honestly go either way. I guess I'll be reviewing these at the end of the season and we'll see how my opinions have changed since this status update.

Overlord has been pretty meh so far, thankfully the current arc ended with episode 5 (the most current on CR). I'm all for world building but honestly these side stories are becoming a little to much for me (I know they're part of the books but I want more Ainz action). I won't go any further as it will ruin the character development but it was honestly unnecessary to show this.

If it wasn't for Overlord I wouldn't be watching any of the new shows this season considering none have seemed interesting to me. My Hero and Steins:Gate 0 are the only currently airing shows I'm watching (and boy has Steins taken a turn for the extremely interesting as of the last episode. MHA is really dragging out this current arc so I'm not entirely sure how this season is going to end, my current prediction might not actually happen until the next, hopefully, season).

I don't understand why they are structuring the anime to have arcs end in the middle of seasons. The open endedness of last season was odd. I figured Steines will be over within the next few weeks. I didn't look up the episode count to avoid spoilers but I know it won't be running through the entirety of this season so I don't count it. I don't even really count MHA or Black Clover since they are continuously to semi-continuously running through multiple seasons.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

SG0 has the same number of eps as SG so it'll end in little over a month if they don't take breaks (episode 18 is the newest).

They're doing it the same way they did the books. Each arc is an adaptation of one book though by the sounds of it the current arc was book 8 so they skipped book 7 (which a lot of people are pissed about) and everyone is worried that now we only have 8 episodes to adapt books 7 and 9 for this season (which may or may not be enough episodes). Plus the way they were going we were in for some major story developments (we still are if they do the next 8 episodes right) but I think they're banking on getting a S4 so they're drawing shit out they don't need to (the feeling I've been getting with MHA but at least MHA is guaranteed a 4th season with how popular it is (I mean fuck it's getting an original movie that has nothing to do with the manga)).

  25. Spoiler Alert for Iron Blooded Orphans. Funi put up the rest of season 2. Seriously fuck off... it's been a while since I've so mad about a character death. The way they killed Lafter was gut wrenching. I though Biscuit's death was bad, but fuck that was so fucked up. :(

Honestly I can't really take "fans" too seriously anymore. I see comments on Funi's post about some random new series thats not gundam and someone just posts "Dubs are trash, and so is this anime, watch Gundam UC timeline". I'm like bruh, this isn't an anime forum 20 years ago... (Think about that We've all known each other for 17-20 years now. XD)

I really dug the grey area aspect of the story in season 2. There wasn't really a good or bad side per-say. I respect what McGillis was after, and in the end it came to fruition in a way. Elion seemed like not to bad of a guy in the end, even if his ways were a bit convoluted getting there. Tekkadan was just caught in all the wrong places. Orga's death was sad, but it didn't hurt like Lafter's. It was a given that he was a target, so it wasn't much of a surprise. Lafter's death was so senseless off something so petty, it was hard to swallow... especially after the development she had been getting as you said.

Even though S2 was better. My favorite moment was when Mikazuki freight trained Carta without warning when she challenged Tekkadan to a 3v3 duel. XD  I love small anti-cliche moments like that. It reminded me of Mugen in Samurai Champloo when a little kid was being held hostage and his holder was like "don't you care if this boy lives or dies?!" and he was like "naaaah, not really" and started kicking ass. XD

Oh and Bael was my favorite mecha of the series.

    4. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Heh, good god how the time flies and boy has the anime forum mentality sure evolved (well depending on where you go. The MAL forums could be pretty toxic back when they were still up).

Yea, Orga's death more or less felt forced for plot sake. I understand why they took that method (I mean leader of Tekkadan, master of Mikazuki and the Barbatos, and what have you) but it wasn't exactly necessary (even if it did rile Mikazuki up and force the final battle). McGillis, while I admire what he was after, went about it in the worst possible way (ala Zechs in GW) and caused so much unneeded death.

That was a great moment. The lack of care Mikazuki shows while in battle is amazing. "Oh you want a fair fight, no dice" *proceeds to dash in and murder everyone* This is why he's one of my favorite characters from the show. Yea, he's pretty much emotionless outside of talking to those who he cares about but he is probably one of the best pilots in any Gundam show based purely on instinct alone.

If it doesn't show already my favorite mech is the Barbatos Lupus Rex, such a finely tuned piece of machinery (not to mention it literally took 7 Dainsleifs to finally bring him down to Julieta's level of fighting (though he was practically dead at that point) and he still took out most of her soldiers before she "won").
