It looks good but, again, so did Destiny before it launched. It was nice to see some actual game play and by what I can see it looks like at least that is pretty solid. Here's to hoping we get more footage like this in the months to come.

The Disney princess part at the end is great. I loved the first movie.

I like what I'm hearing now they just need to deliver (I liked a lot of what I heard about BF1 but it was never really delivered on imo). Honestly happy that it's WWII (yea I know everybody wants modern and what not) and I like they're keeping the War Stories SP around as that was one of the main things I loved about BF1 (though I still haven't beaten the last set yet) and I really like that it's going to be stories we haven't heard and battles we haven't seen (nice little touch).
I could honestly care less about soldier customization (honestly I don't see the point. The only games I care about being able to customize my character on are MMO's and some action/rpg games) but it's nice they're finally allowing it more so than before. The whole archetype class and weapon system sounds interesting especially since I'm one of those guys that ends up doing to things no one wants and I actually play my class the way it's meant to be (I have a feeling I'll be leaning heavily toward support or medic depending on what sounds like more fun), I just hope it's implemented well and not just thrown into the game like Behemoths and Elite Classes were in BF1.
Grand Operations sounds fun especially since its kinda what we were supposed to get in BF1 but never did and I'm extremely happy that Conquest is going back to what it used to be (about time). Not to sure how I feel about Fortifications. Sounds interesting but only if it's done right, will have to wait on actual gameplay footage of this feature before I fully give my opinion.
All in all it sounds like a return to what made BF what it is along with adding new things that will eventually be ripped off them by someone else. Not going to jump on the bandwagon though, I'll wait until it comes out before I buy it instead of pre-ordering it (as I'm sick of getting burned) even if that means no beta access.

I think the most important thing is there will be no more one man army'ing it up. I felt way OP in the last few BF games. I was a one man mobile SAM in BF4, and I kept bunkers clear in BF1. Having a 1.7 KD in a BF game is a little insane. The not healing back to 100% means there has to be a medic. Even in BF3 you'd heal to about 70-80% and that last bit to 100% felt like forever to get back without a medic. I also like the ability to move AA around so planes can't dominate by remembering where they are and taking them out immediately. The low ammo count I feel conflicted on. But it should solve the sniping issue somewhat. It definitely means it will be better when you're playing with at least 2 people you know in the squad. Having a medic and support is going to be key otherwise you'll have a squad with no ammo and constantly losing tickets.
Fortifications sound nice to guard your back in indoor situations. Hopefully there will be proper notifications when they are destroyed and they aren't ridiculous to destroy. All we need is people bunkering down hard on a flag inside. Of course driving a tank through the wall helps. It's good that full destruction is back. Plus the rocket strikes and other squad abilities have the potential to balance it out.

I don't care who you are. Once you get to Ep 7, you'll be chopping onions til the end.

I just finished watching it and I adore this show. When you ask yourself what Strider looks for in anime this is it, this is what I love to watch. This was just a joy to watch and while it really hits you in the feels it just so well done. It's been such a long time since I last watched a show that truly moved me like this one did and such a long time since we've had an anime so character driven that it saddens me. We need more shows like this, ones driven forward by a compelling story and such well developed and lovely characters (enough with the harem anime, enough with the long running shounen crap, give us shows like this). To make it even better the soundtrack is amazing and the animation is top notch (of course it is coming from KyoAni, the very studio that brought us Clannad and Kanon (two breathtakingly beautiful shows)).
The show is not without its flaws (and by what I understand it's not a true adaptation of the novel (it ends completely differently than the novel)) it's not enough to detract from what is being told and shown. I'm with DX on this and can't recommend this enough. Sure there's very little action, sure it's a sappy story, sure the characters are cutesy but god damn it look beyond it and give it shot. In the last two days I've shed many manly tears because of this show and am not afraid to admit it (I'm getting sappy in my old age). Bravo Netflix, you have finally delivered to me an anime that I can truthfully say will go down as one of my all time favorite shows and an anime that has truthfully left me breathless. I hope the new Violet Evergarden project delivers us more of this wonderful world and story, I just can't get enough of it (I might re-watch it again this weekend that's how much I love it).

I just finished this on Netflix and I must say; Bravo Netflix you finally nailed it. I almost stopped after ep 2 just because this anime wasn't what I thought it was going to be, but I kept with it and I'm so glad I did. It's definitely not a genre I usually watch. There is very little action and its mostly drama, but good lord the story is great, the voice acting is phenomenal, the animation is stunning, and the OST is beautiful. Episode 7 was probably my favorite, but 8-11 is a damn feels trip. Holy shit its rough at some points, but the final two episodes serve as a proper finale. I can't recommend this enough. There is some Studio Ghibli level charm with this series. This should have received more promotion from Netflix than it did if any.

Heh, just wait it gets worse. Just about every episode has been ending on a cliff hangar and episode 4 ups the stakes big time. I knew we were in for a hell off a season with this one but it's definitely a lot darker then the first two (I won't mention Fumoffu since it's pretty much just a comedy anyways). I just can't wait until we get to see something that I wish I could mention (if you pay attention to the opening you'll see what I mean), going to be fucking awesome.

I haven't played it but you do get one more weapon in the game but I won't say what it is since I don't want to ruin it for DX if he hasn't gotten that far yet (I've seen the entirety of the game played through on Twitch). Gotta say I've never been interested in the GoW series but after seeing people play through it on Twitch I might just have to pick this up eventually, the story is extremely fucking good and the game play looks awesome.

Oh yeah, you better get hyped because this season looks like shit is going to ramp up exponentially (yea, since I watch subs I already got to watch the first ep on CR). All I have to say is I'm so fucking glad the wait is over (a friend of mine has read the novels and has been spoiling shit for me for years so I'm finally happy to get to watch it).

I finally saw it. I'm not going to go into specifics because there is so much fundamentally wrong with this movie it sickens me (and I finally understand why Mark Hamill had such a problem with how Rian Johnson wrote his character, that wasn't Luke. That was a washed up, pathetic excuse for a man). I can't believe we gave up the EU for this crap.
I did, however, find the movie entertaining (an alright movie but abysmal Star Wars). Again Daisy Ridley was a joy to watch on screen and I thought she did a wonderful job as Rey in this film. As much as I hate his character I'm glad we finally got to see some actual development of Kylo's character (even though I will always refer to him as Emo Vader). Seeing Yoda again was a joy and brought a smile to my face. As much as I hate this movie it was wonderful and highly emotional to see Carrie in her last performance (which she killed by the way, one of the high points of the movie for me).
Actually Sledge, Luke has one child in the novels (Ben Skywalker, powerful but not as powerful as his cousins Jacen and Jaina Solo) and he actually marries one of the Emporer's Hand (an elite cadre of force sensitive assassins loyal only to Palpatine, her name was Mara Jade). Palpatine actually inhabits six different clones of himself until he's finally killed off in the EU by Luke (after turning to the Dark Side for awhile). As for force ghosts in the old canon they never interacted with the living world except for training and mentoring those strong in the force so that's why we've never seen them exhibit power like Yoda did. Also Force Projection/Doggleganger was used in the old canon by people like Dooku and Luke (books/comics) but this is the first time we've seen it in the films and the new canon so who knows why they made it do this in the film. I could go on but I won't, this takes this topic off topic and I really only wanted to post my thoughts on this film.

You must of forgot about it, the 4th season was announced like 6 or 7 months ago. I definitely can't wait, since Funi has the Simuldub that means Crunchy should have the sub streaming rights.

No Strider, we'd just get constantly false reported for cheating if they had Ace Combat controls. Our match K/D would almost resemble Boba Fett campers in Battlefront 1.
  22. Sledgstone liked a post in a topic by Strider Hiryu in Battlefront II
Meh, flying in Battlefront is pretty much flying on rails. Once you learn that concept it's a breeze to get the hang of it (before I stopped playing Battlefront 1 I was pretty much an ace pilot with the X-Wing and A-Wing, Tie Fighters and Interceptors gave me more trouble due to how they were). While I'll admit the controls were a little different in Battlefront 2 (or the beta anyways, I still refuse to buy this shit show of game) the concept is still similar (believe me when I say it was easier to learn to fly in Battlefront for me, I still to this day cannot fly anything in BF4 or BF1. I so do not look forward to flight controls in BF5 (psst, take some design notes for Bandai Namco and the Ace Combat series. That's how true flight controls should be done)).
Problem is the fix is a little to late. EA already lost a majority of the players who supported this game in the beginning and soured the rest of us on their shady ass design and practices (I really didn't have high hopes for Battlefront 2 after the first game failed to impress and I'm glad I didn't based off of beta gameplay). Yea, the fix is a step in the right direction but I still feel we'll get hosed in one way or another in BF5 when it finally releases. Glad you're enjoying it though.

I'm just going to point out that Battlefront 2 was a bad example, it's price drop was brought on entirely by the bad press it was getting for it's mishandling of loot boxes and EA's shady business practices. Steam always drops prices but those price drops are only for certain events (like the Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring sales. Generally most games stick to full price unless Valve decides to drop it (its generally not a publisher call when a business runs a sale)). Humble Bundle is a special case, almost all money for those sales goes towards charity if chosen to. Most publishers make very little to no money off of it (I know I place most of the money to charity when I buy a bundle, with very little going to the publishers and Humble Bundle itself) and this is by choice to try and improve their reputation to gamers.
Waiting isn't a bad thing, it's what most of our generation does now when it comes to buying games. As I said above I've been doing it since the $60 hike back in 2005 and I buy a lot less games now. If you don't want to pay full price that's your choice as a consumer but honestly a raise in prices is not uncalled for. There are plenty of gamers out there that will pay $75+ for a game and they'll do it day 1, a price hike would not hurt the industry as much as everyone thinks it will (it'll be a blow that's for sure but it won't kill it). With the shift to multiplayer only games now you won't see many games that will retain their value longer then you deem it to. Single player games are becoming non-existent now unless you're in the market for indie games (which are always reasonably priced) because, like DX pointed out, companies can't currently make their money back on a game thats's one and done with no DLC or map packs to keep money rolling in. Sadly the value of a game is what you deem it to be and it always will.
  24. DeathscytheX liked a post in a topic by Strider Hiryu in The Jimquisition
I honestly think $75 is a good price, it's a $15 hike that honestly anyone in today's work climate can afford (and I say this barely making ends meat each month). However, it's a price hike not everyone will agree with (I mean look at the fallout that happened when games initially went to $60, it was mind blowing how many people lost their shit over it (I was initially one of them but in the end it wasn't that bad, it just meant I bought less games over the year and made more attempts to research the game before I purchased it)). I mean I'm that guy that's willing to drop $200 or more on a game (fuck I spent $230 on the Stormblood expansion for FFXIV and I even dropped the $100+ to get the Horizon: Zero Dawn Collector's edition, a brand new IP that I actually believed in and was honestly blown away but how great of a game it is (and I still need to beat it)) that I feel will do well but honestly I'm one of the few.
Sadly a game price hike needs to be regulated and done without the consent of publishers but it will never happen because publishers want more money (as seen with EA's Battlefront bullshit) and this is why I sadly agree with your point that they won't rise because we all know what EA will price a game at (I could honestly see a new Battlefield being priced at $100+ without the Premium membership if they had their way). It's sad though because members of the actual development community are paid like shit if you're not an established name or studio (fuck most studios are lucky to get 5% royalty deal on sales (and this was back in 2010 when I was still in school, I'm sure shit isn't any better now) after their initial milestone payments). With the current infrastructure I wouldn't be surprised if the gaming industry ends up like our current movie and music industries (barely hanging on due to greed and archaic practices).
Early access needs to go but it won't. It's the only way indie and non-AAA games are being funded these days outside of Kickstarter. It's a shit practice but considering how well PUBG did with EA and how good Fortnite is doing in EA I don't see it going anywhere and wouldn't be surprised if more little known developers go down this path in the future (and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if AAA titles started doing this as well). I know I harp about the old days but I really miss them. I hate being an old jaded gamer and consumer, it sucks that my favorite hobby/past time went from being passion projects to being nothing more then publishers fighting for more money and releasing shit. This is pretty much the reason why I stick solely to FFXIV these days, its a great game and I'm willing to pay $86 or so for 6 months of game time (please note that's with extra, optional account shit. It normally costs $78) plus extra for Mogstation shit (like mounts, outfits, minions (pets), etc). Purchasing games now-a-days is like going to a casino, you never know when you're going to hit the jackpot and end up losing more than you win.
