  1. Please Sony don't do what MS did and have a lame ass montage of a bunch of generic people talking about a console's vague specs you don't get to look at. Don't bother having a presser until physical hardware is ready to see and they're are games to announce for it. 🙄 I hope you missed E3 for this reason, and you're own event will not feature this garbage.

  2. The French Open... freakin' Tennis out of all things is going to cause a 2 week delay for Fruits Basket, literally the highlight of my Fridays. UGH I can't blame Cartoon Network this time....

  4. I never watched the original Fruit Basket because the description just sounded too silly. The premise of all anime is that at least one of the protagonists has a flaw. Luffy can't swim, Inuyasha turns human on the full moon, etc. I just generally dislike when a flaw is so overwhelming it's a massive inconvenience. BUT Since the simuldub started Friday I'll be watching the reboot. It seems to have a huge following and the first ep was quite good.

O.o Senko with a squeaky voice would be horrid, it'd take away from her healing factor (I haven't heard her dub voice but her Japanese VA is amazing, they chose well on that one).

Can we just say that FB is fucking amazing? The newest ep is a probably my favorite episode thus far (so much emotion) and her Grandfather is a fucking badass (that's all I'll say). Gah, kinda wish I would of watched the original all the way through but I'm glad it's getting this remake because I never knew I needed this show in my life until now (same could be said for Senko-san as well).

  5. O... M... G!! I just watched the first ep of The Helpful Fox Senko-san and it was so freaking adorable.  XD The ED is already a top contender. The season doesn't kick into full swing for the dub until this weekend but so far I'm digging Wise Man's Grandchild. Yu-No is interesting but it could end up like RErideD. I'm mostly interested in Fairy Gone, AFTERLOST, and Midnight Occult Civil Servants... but it looks like I'll be watching most of the series this season as well.

  6. Star Trek Discovery Season 2 was amazing. Significant improvement over season 1. Bringing in captain Pike, Spock and the Enterprise as well as tying the entire Discovery series into the timeline and canon of the original series was well done and extremely entertaining to watch. I wish they didn't f*ck up the klingons as much as they did in season 1, because aside from that Discovery is now a solid show that ranks up there with TNG and Voyager for me.

Get on it Sledge, I'll need a full report about your thoughts and feelings asap.

Just watched the first two episodes on Fruits Basket tonight and I'm totally on board with it. This and Demon Slayer will most likely be going down as my two favorites of this season (Hittoribocchi is up there too but these two definitely take the cake).

I've seen maybe half of the original series (back at my first college when I was a part of the anime club) and it was enjoyable. I completely forgot the new one started airing last week so I never got around to watching it so I'll have to do it Saturday night when I watch all the other shit I was going to watch this season.

You want all about the feels Sledge you need to watch Violet Evergarden, that will hit you so hard in the feels that everything else will pale in comparison. I say this having seen a lot of shows along the lines of Fruits Basket (we're talking so many you'd almost think I was a girl (yea, I'm into Shoujo shit and I'm not afraid to admit it)) and Violet Evergarden blows them all out of the water for it's pure portrayal of emotions (I always thought nothing would ever beat Clannad for pure emotional portrayal but VE did so). While I'll never rank any anime over Aria (I'm sorry but nothing will ever dethrone this show (for reference this dethroned Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam for my all time favorite anime) due to the pure enjoyment I get from the series (and yes I watch it once a year that's how much I love it)) Violet Evergarden comes extremely close  (god I still need to see the movie, come on Netflix get on it damnit).

  10. Anthem isn't perfect. It probably should have been delayed another 6-8 months, but its a hell of a lot of fun. I just find it funny how Destiny can rack up big review scores with the similar issues and significantly less content. The popular thing to do right now is crap on EA, and its justified... but it'll be a shame if this game gets the plugged pulled on it early. There is a lot of potential here to fill the gap until the next gen consoles come. Arekkz has the most realistic take on the game, the rest of the YT community is just spitting out talking points which is kinda sad too see since they're suppose to be the alternate to big game sites.

  13. Totally hyped for the new expansion for FFXIV, Shadowbringers, after this mornings announcements at the Fan Fest in Paris. We're getting a 24-man raid devoted to Nier called YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse and Yoko Taro is overseeing its creation, fucking sweet. It's supposed to further the Nier story as well (and if the concept art is to be believed it's sometime after the Automata storyline).

Say what you will about FFXIV but god damn do we get some awesome shit due to Square-Enix properties and their connections. I just fucking hope I can finally get my 2B glamour I've been wanting for my character. This just mean I need to quit being lazy and beat Automata before October (when this should probably launch since the expansion comes out in July).

  16. I'll pass on a review of the Fall simuldub lineup. Mostly because everything I like is bleeding into the new season minus SSSS.Gridman, ZOMBIE LAND SAGA, and Goblin Slayer. There rest was underwhelming, absolute trash, or not dubbed. As someone that enjoys a fanservice fest now and then, I don't get the appeal of SENRAN KAGURA, After 3 eps, I was like "holy shit this is so bad". XD I guess because it tries to be so serious. Anyways, I watched the first ep of Magical Girl Spec Ops, and it was pretty awesome. I think this is closer to what I was expecting from Raising Project. Seeing a magical girl slice up a bunch of people with a karambit was pretty awesome. XD Boogiepop and Others is interesting so far so I'll stick with it. Still waiting for Mob Psycho 100 season 2 to start the dub, and I guess I'll ride the hype train for The Rising of the Shield Hero when it starts.

  19. So after counting the cash and gift cards I got for my birthday in Oct and for Christmas I finally just broke down and ordered a Switch today all because I want the new Smash Brothers (damn you Nintendo, why do you do this to me. You know I have an obsession with SSB).

So yeah, I now get to start the journey of being a Switch owner (I just wish it didn't cost so much freaking money x.x).

  20. The two best anime this season so far are Goblin Slayer and SSSS.Gridman. Goblin Slayer caused a huge uproar over its first ep.. which honestly is stupid. Plenty of acclaimed anime have had an uncomfortable rape scene. A heavily censored scene that took up all of 10 seconds of the episode. However, whether intended or not, it got everyone talking about it. After that, it resumed as a normal but violent anime. It also wasn't random, it established the goblin's as pure evil. SSSS.Gridman is your standard over the top Trigger mecha anime... but it starts out off the rails. I don't see how they can get much more bat shit crazy. That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, Zombie Land SAGA, and Double Decker: Doug and Kirill have all been fun and quirky though. Overall I'm enjoying this season even if I'm skipping on a few of the shows.

  24. Sigh, I actually had to break down and get a FunimationNow account because half the shows I was planning on watching on CR got pulled yesterday (and I didn't actually realize Funi had the license). Going to go broke if this shit keeps happening >.<

  25. With the summer simuldub season coming to a close, it played out like I predicted more or less. I'll wait a bit longer before I post my review. Pretty lackluster overall. But for me, the Fall Lineup is pretty stacked. Fairy Tail, SAO Season 3, and Black Clover continues which has become a lot more promising after this last arc I just watched... by far its strongest and most compelling. I watched the first episode of Double Decker! Doug & Kirill which was entertaining, and SSSS.GRIDMAN seems to be a Pacific Rim clone. Overall a return to more action adventure series, and lighter on the fan service heavy series.

God I'd buy Violet Evergarden in a heartbeat if it got a stateside release (I've actually considered importing it but sadly the Japanese don't include English subtitles in their releases and while I understand enough Japanese to get buy it'd be a hard sell for me). Sadly it's very rare for an anime that Netflix has the rights to to get a stateside release (I'd hate to think how much a company would have to pay to get the physical distribution rights because I'm sure Netflix would put up a fight).

Honestly swapping out discs has never annoyed me. Then again I've been doing it for over 20 years that it's just second nature now. I also like supporting the industry where I can, be it paying to stream content or buying the physical release. I do find myself streaming more than I used to, to the point that I rarely download fansubs anymore (only for shows that CR doesn't get the stream rights/simulcasts for) but nothing ever beats the satisfaction of owning the shows for me, knowing that I can watch them anytime I wish without the worry of CR losing the rights to stream them (hell half of my collection isn't even available to stream). I don't just buy anything though, I only buy shows I've seen and have an attachment to (like Aria, Gurren Lagann, Gundam, etc). It's not like 16 years ago where I bought anything I could get my hands on (a lot of my collection is shows I bought on impulse like Generator Gawl and Martian Successor Nadesico (two shows I'd never heard of and two shows I actually really enjoyed)). Plus I don't spend money on much anymore. I buy maybe 2 games a year now, rarely buy movies, with my Spotify subscription I rarely buy CD's anymore, rarely buy books anymore (which I hate, reading is my favorite past time but I just don't have time to do it anymore), and I rarely eat our/go to movies/or go out drinking. True, I should probably reign my anime spending in a little (I average $500 a year and that's low balling it) but meh.

Well that and I actually re-watch anime all the time. There isn't an anime that I own that I haven't re-watched at least twice (or, in the case of Aria, once a year since I first watched it (so roughly 10 times)). Yea, I really need to get out more x_X
