  1. I got my new 1 tb external hard drive in the mail today. I have enough free space that I can now save more than 1 or 2 video clips of my games at a time without having to delete something. That was so annoying. x_x

  3. Once again my company restructures and my position in the company is eliminated. I'm pretty much a lock for another position they created, but its getting old having to worry about whether I'll have a job the next year when they probably do change again. It will be a night shift management position so I'll be working late again and not get to game with friends like I've been enjoying the past 8-9 months. On the upside at least I'll be back in management, and not some guy thats coded for a job he's not really doing because he's being used as a manager/utility guy.

I was going to buy a new graphics card and power supply, but its on hold now until I know for sure I'll still be employees in a few weeks. Its pretty tough watching people lose their job that you've worked with for years. It seems just about every retail company is doing this lately. I know Lowes recently laid off a shit ton of managers.

As a guy stuck in these low level positions (mostly by choice, I've worked my way up only to have it bite me in the ass so I'm happy being down here with the grunts) it's nice to see the incentive of raising the minimum wage however they're doing it the wrong way. Raising wages to a flat $15 an hour isn't the answer, it's their way of making themselves look like they care when they don't (and a way to make it so jobs don't leave the country which sadly isn't going to stop). I've said it more than once that minimum wage needs to be based on the currently standard of living in each city/state (more so city but that's due to where I live more then anything) as, like DX pointed out, most smaller to medium sized businesses can't afford to pay wages not centered on their areas SoL (businesses that are small mom and pop shops or state chains, not businesses like Walmart who could afford to pay all their employees $15 and up an hour but choose not to (don't be fooled by them raising their wages, just a publicity stunt. More wages means less people to work now so it gets harder on those employees still there (they actually eliminated a lot of positions in the company to do this))). Sadly the people leading our country don't see this (and Trump for one doesn't give two shits about us little guys trying to make a living) and just do things without fully thinking it through and businesses don't care outside of what it will cost them (hence the lay offs and what have you). Just because $14 an hour is the bare minimum needed to be able to survive where I live (due to the Bakken/Oil Industry) doesn't mean you should be paying your employees that in a small town where $9 an hour will let them live a comfortable life (not many places I know of where $9 an hour will suffice but I'm sure they're out there).

Sadly though it'll continue to happen. Eventually minimum wage will get so high we won't have any jobs to go after as they're all shifted overseas to people willing to work for less than a dollar an hour. I don't bitch because I make enough money to cover my bills, make sure I have food, and pay for those few luxuries I enjoy (even though I'm making less money an hour then I was before I got fired, man OT really makes up that difference though) but I know of plenty of people who don't (close friends as well who can't aspire to be more because they can't afford to get the schooling or training to do so) so yeah. Like I said I don't bitch, no reason to because no matter how loud we bitch very little gets heard or changed for the better.

Sadly DX it's those people who will never give up those positions and when they eventually do they'll probably restructure again to deny you the position (don't know the situation or what its like to work for you're company but I know plenty of companies that will do shit like that saying the position is no longer needed and they were getting rid of it). No matter how indispensable you make yourself it rarely ever pays off because after awhile those people just keep using you to better themselves (me being fired is one of those instances, busted my ass for 10 months to make the store look better only to get fired due to allegations that I was stealing only because the person who deserved to get fired was trying to take everyone who helped her out with her (yea she got fired but took nearly the whole management team with her). The Store Manager didn't even try to defend us in the fallout, just let us take the fall so he wouldn't look bad (again a reason why I never want to be in a position of power again)).

  4. Well I just ordered myself a new Gaming Computer today. Don't know if its a good thing or not yet considering how much money I just dropped ($2100) but with my laptop having GPU issues I figured it was time to bite the bullet. Went through CyberpowerPC as everything I hear about them and their PC's are great (a streamer I follow uses them as well) and I don't have the time to build my own at the moment (god damn 50+ hour work weeks).

Here's to hoping the thing is worth the money (should be, I picked a mid-specced pre-built and changed a few things around (GPU (changed from a stock GTX 1070 to an EVGA GTX 1070), Cooling, OS Drive (changed to a 500 Gig SSD), and Storage Drive (added a 2 TB HDD) were the only real things I changed. And yes I researched everything before I chose them).

God damn, pretty soon they're going to restructure you out of a job (hopefully not but damn dude). One of the major reasons I'm glad I'm out of retail now. I bitch and moan about my 50 hour work weeks but at least I know I won't be loosing my job anytime soon (as long as the oil industry keeps doing well considering they're one of our major customers).

On the upside you're management again (well if that is an upside, I hated being a manager) and hopefully that comes with a raise.

  6. My car is screwed up. :crap: It has an overheating issue but it doesn't show it as an issue. The radiator fan wont turn on unless my AC or heater is on. No check engine light or anything. After a long diagnosis at a dealership, they've concluded that the computer in the car itself is failing and needs to be replaced. Never had that happen to a car before. Its a hefty bill to get that swapped out. I could go cheap and buy a used part off ebay for $30-100 but I don't see the point when theres no way to test the damn things accurately considering mine is reading as functioning normally. wtf. :( Instead of trading in the car, I'll foot the $1k bill next week when the get the part in. I really don't want another car payment at this point.

  7. Finished Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Season 2 last night. Gotta say it wasn't as good as the first season and it was kind of a let down story wise but the battles were freaking amazing (I am in love with Barbatos, that fucking machine is amazing). I think the title of "Kill them all" has finally been taken from Tomino, good god Nagai was kill happy (I honestly didn't think anyone was going to survive to see the end (yea, kind of a spoiler but not really as I didn't say who dies)). All in all a solid 7/10, definitely worth a watch if you looking for an action oriented show (not the best Gundam to come out but it definitely ranks up there as a damn good addition to the franchise as a whole).

Also started watching Grimgar tonight since DX had mentioned what he thought of it it awhile ago (and it's up on Crunchy so I don't have to watch those fansubs I got a hold of). Only 4 episodes in and I have to say that was one hell of a gut punch, not because of his death but because of the way the others took it. Fucking hit me right in the feels. I do have to say that I was right, it feels like a cross between Log Horizon (being sucked into another world) and SAO (death being permanent) without the whole being a game aspect (since it seems it's never actually confirmed/denied). Overall I'm enjoying it so far, looking forward to what the next 8 episodes have to offer.

  9. Finally ended up breaking down and paying for a Crunchyroll membership on Sunday (cancelled my TOR subscription since I've done everything the game has to offer for now) since it seems the hay day of fansubs is dead (and I was dying to watch IBO season 2 and now I can finally get caught up on Sailor Moon Crystal (god that just sounds wrong)). Gotta say, and believe me it hurts to say this, they've really come a long way since I last used them back when they were doing this illegally. Great quality, passable subs (need a little more work on localization but they're better then they used to be), and I get to watch everything on my TV instead of my computer (major bonus for me).

My only gripe is I wish they had more to offer. Their selection is rather small for having a partnership with Funi (then again I've seen pretty much everything I want to see that Funi has to offer). Meh, hopefully they'll continue to grow and get more stuff (and hopefully older stuff, a lot of the newer shows these days suck).

Yea it was the 4Kids dub but like I said I pretty much know what happens in every arc up to Marineford from reading the Wiki and from my obsessed friend (plus I have seen some of the stuff subbed). I already planned on watching it from the beginning because I know just how horrible 4Kids was at stripping everything they thought was offensive from the shows they released. Honestly even if I had seen the Funi dub I'd probably restart anyways since its been a long time since I've seen any of One Piece (plus, as you all know, I prefer watching anime subbed because I can't stand the English VA's).

I don't doubt it, 4kids has ruined everything they've touched from Pokemon to Yu-Gi-Oh. They're really one of the worst companies out there when it come to anime localization.

Considering I slogged my ass through the whole entirety of Dragonball Z and GT (so much god damn filler and pointless fights stretching for 10+ episodes (yes Frieza I'm looking at you)) I think I can survive One Piece (plus I pretty much know what happens throughout most of the show/manga (thank you One Piece Wiki and my insatiable need to read about things that interest me (damn you and your amazing awesomeness Whitebeard)) and I've seen up to the recruitment of Chopper (sadly through the dub) so I could always start there if I didn't feel like slogging through the first set of episodes) and the Desert Arc (again I already know what happens so I could skip this arc as well). Plus I've always meant to watch the anime due to a friend of mine and his obsessive fandom of the show (I originally had the first 300 episodes on my external because of him but before I could start watching it that HDD bit the dust and I didn't have back ups of the One Piece episodes (may you RIP Chikane-chan (yes that was the name of the external HDD) and manga but could never find the time to actually sit and watch it (this was back when I was still in college). Honestly I still watch a lot of anime in SD so it doesn't bother me any (over half of my fansubs are from before HD became the standard and all DVD's are SD quality) and One Piece's art style actually looks good in SD as compared to other series.

Meh, I already know how Naruto ends (I read the last few chapters of the manga when it finished because I didn't think I'd ever get around to watching the series) but I still plan on watching the rest of it. I already slogged through countless amounts of filler eps to get where I'm at (which sadly is even more filler) so I can slog the rest of the way through (I'm right at the start of the Fourth War). Plus I could finally get around to watching The Last: Naruto the Movie (yea, I'm holding off on it until I finish the series).

I'll probably give it a watch (it's always sounded interesting to me but sadly no good fansub groups picked it up), still trying to figure out when I'm going to have time to slog through 700+ episodes of One Piece (yes I'm finally going to watch it) and when I can get caught up on Naruto (the fansub group I was getting it from quit so I'm way fucking behind again).

Meh, I know Crunchy has some simulcast stuff (IBO is one but there's only one ep before its done on Crunchy so yeah) but I'm not all that interested in that feature. Considering my lack of free time to watch shit I'll just let eps backlog and binge them like I am with IBO.

  14. I watched the first season (at least first available on netflix) of The Great British Baking Show. This was amazingly relaxing. lol. Everyone is so nice, the music is soothing. No stress, yet informative baking info. I got to the end of the first season, saw who won and everyone is happy in the end. wtf. XD This is so different from all other competition shows. In the finale all the previous contestants were having a field day / picnic with friends and family while the last 3 people competed. After the winner was announced the other finalist responded with things like "The right person won this today." wtf. XD Nobody is mad. XD What really shocked me was the prize. The winner got a couple bouquets of flowers and a glass serving dish / trophy for a cake... and thats it. lmao. I had to google it.. there is no prize money, no cook book deal, no vacation or baking job... just the satisfaction of winning. Wow. XD The next season started and it begins with "We had over 10,000 participants attempting to get into this season.." So many people spending so much time for no rewards besides personal growth and experience. I like this show.

  15. We're getting almost 2 feet of snow over the next 2 days. -_-; Winter needs to end.

  16. GANTZ:O is on Netflix. I wasn't aware of its existence. Its pretty good, but you'd appreciate it more if you watched the original series. I thought it was a sequel or prequel movie at first and then I realized some of the same characters are in it, but its discombobulated in their relationship with each other. They flip the main character roll to someone else, and make the original main character look like a decent guy when he was just a whiny prick in the original. XD

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

He's part of the reason but there's more to it than him (in fact I hated most of the characters to begin with, most of them were annoying and none of them really brought anything to the show). Honestly I just didn't feel it was that great of a show, entertaining yes but I feel other shows with similar premises did better jobs then this show at selling me (Mirai Nikki (I forget its English name but I know you've seen it), while not exactly the same premise, is a much better show then this and it plays its own death game (though for a different prize)).

  18. Been screwing around in the Ghost Recon beta these last few days. Gotta say the game is fun but you can definitely tell it was made to be played with friends. Don't get me wrong the A.I. squad mates are better then what you would get in other games (almost as good as the A.I. squad mates from Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (which this game has some similar mechanics to)) but a lot of the missions seem to be built with the idea of going in with 3 other players due to enemy patrol routes and placements. Beyond that gun play is pretty solid (a little wonky at times but this is a beta), combat is quick and sometimes relentless (I made a minor mistake approaching a base in the new area for the beta and damn near paid for it with my life (fucking enemies called in 2 choppers, still trying to figure out how I survived it)), and the story is pretty good for a Tom Clancy game (not generally into Tom Clancy stuff but this game and the Rainbow Six games have always had relatively good stories to go along with good game play).

Honestly if it wasn't coming out a week after Horizon and two weeks before Andromeda I'd probably buy it but no, Ubisoft had to pick the worst time to release it. If you get a chance this weekend try it out, the beta runs until Monday and it's definitely worth a quick play through (even if you don't get through the entire first area you'll get a good feel for the game play and what the story is about in the first few missions).

  19. Red Mage and now Samurai are confirmed as the two jobs for the upcoming FFXIV expansion Stormblood. I am completely hyped about this now and Samurai is going to be a DPS this time around (Sam was a tank in FFXI), god I can't wait. Finally a job I've been wanting since the game released (besides Ninja which I already play as). The only bad thing is I'm torn about which one I want to level first.

  20. So after playing TOR since it's release I've finally finished all the class stories this morning earning my Legendary Player status. I have to say TOR is an exceptional game with some of the best storytelling I've seen in an MMO to date (FFXIV takes second sadly, while the story is amazing it's just not personal enough like the TOR class stories are).

Have to say my favorite Class Stories were Sith Inquisitor (even if it was a little predictable at times), Imperial Agent (I haven't played the Light Side version but the Dark Side one was pretty damn fun), and surprisingly Jedi Consular (which I beat this morning. While a little boring the twists and turns the story takes after Chapter 1 were fun). The other stories were just a little to bland for my tastes (Sith Warrior was okay but revenge stories just aren't all that great any more. Jedi Knight wasn't all that amazing but the final story mission was pretty cool. The rest I really don't have much to say about (though Smuggler was good for a few laughs)).

Gotta say for their first time doing an MMO Bioware did a great job, even if the game has gone through more rocky points then most MMO's. The Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne expansions were amazing, well done, and outside of the class stories had some of the best story writing I've seen in awhile (this goes for single player games as well). Can't wait to see what Bioware has in store for TOR in the future but I'm happy to say I can finally put this game on the back burner until it happens.

Oh god it's probably the best change to come to the game since I started playing it when it released. Now you're actually able to survive shit earlier in the game if you were playing one of those classes that didn't get their healing companion until later on in their story (I'm looking at you Inquisitor, I had to wait until fucking Hoth before I finally got my healing companion back in the day which for Inquisitors is their forth of five companions (then again back then Darkness Specced Assassins could actually heal themselves in combat so it wasn't that hard unless you fought a Gold and Silver nameplate enemy at the same time (Tank spec for those that don't know, sadly they dropped that ability when they killed the original talent trees for this new system they have)). Sadly the downside is they don't do anything else besides heal and a little dps now when in healing stance (you can choose between Tank, DPS, and Healer in the new companion menu) so they don't do their original jobs anymore but I haven't run into any real problems with it on any of my characters (shit, even though my Assassin is specced tank I can still put out a shit ton of dps).

Plus I like it as it allows you to focus on the companion you want to focus on for dialog and relationship building as they gain relationship points faster when they're with you and apart of all your conversations (though that doesn't even really matter anymore as you can now do all their major dialog choices after every planet you complete, getting points from conversations and what not just helps you get to them faster). Though, yet again, all that goes down the drain once you start playing Knights of the Fallen Empire as they ditch your original five companions for a whole slew of new ones (though you can recruit some of them back as you play through KOTFE (like Pierce and Vette come back but the other three have yet to make an appearance from the original Warrior companions)). Sadly I miss some of the old companions, really grew to like them as I played through the original game but some of the new ones make up for their loss.

Like I said Warrior was fun but the whole revenge aspect after Chapter 2 just didn't do it for me (don't get me wrong the whole of the last chapter of the Inquisitor story had some of the same elements but I felt more like I was working towards a goal (killing a member of the Dark Council and taking his seat (story spoiler but if you don't plan on playing the class its okay) instead of killing the Master that betrayed me), plus everything you work for in the Warrior's story is for naught with the release of Fallen Empire (and to some extent Shadows of Revan. Then again Fallen Empire through everything out the window for everybody (even your companions)). That quest was rough back when I did it as well (as a Tank Specced Juggernaut as well, my dps was sorely lacking) but now it's a cake walk just like every class quest now. Since they went through a streamlined the content for faster leveling and made it so all companions can heal nothing is hard anymore (one of the Bounty Hunter's story quests was completely impossible for me to do until they redid companions).

I'm hoping they continue to add to TOR even though it's not considered canon anymore, would suck to see all this amazing work get thrown away because Disney wants to go another direction (though there are rumors of a new Star Wars TV show along the lines of Clone Wars and Rebels that takes place in this timeline (here's hoping if it's true it makes most if not all of the stuff going on in TOR canon again)).

  23. Sadly I had to give some money to Gamestop for a Pro Controller. I really wanted a charging grip, but no one has them and when they come up, people snatch them up so fast you don't even get the email notification you signed up for that they're available. I wish people would wait instead of giving money to resellers on Ebay. If they all got burnt, no one would do this stupid garbage. I've been trying to help a friend get a preorder on a Switch, but every time someone posts on reddit that someone it taking preorders they are gone within 8 minutes of the post. Its amazing how people can dedicate their time and sit there all day hitting refresh on every retailer site and reddit.

  24. Looks like I get to play the For Honor beta this weekend, just got my code today. Can't wait, if only I didn't have to work Friday (this overtime shit is getting old).

Meh, I didn't really get another chance to put much time into the beta again after my initial time (I did play a few rounds of Dominion again but it was Player vs. A.I. so not much to add). I did unlock Orochi and try her out, she's not bad but definitely not my play style. She's too squishy and I just don't like her play style. Not to mention she's so much weaker then the Warden it's not funny (her attacks don't do as much damage but she makes up for it in other ways). I will say I mastered the play style of the Warden though and am a force to be reckoned with when I play her (at least for the A.I., never did get a chance to play against other players), went on a 10 player kill streak in the last match I played (again A.I. players).

Overall with the little time I put into it I'm certainly intrigued by it. I might drop the money on it when it releases on the 14th as it's enjoyable enough but with Horizon coming out next month as well I'll have to see how funds are doing (all this overtime is helping but I'm, once again, trying to save up for a new computer). If you get a chance once it releases I'd say give it a shot if you got the chance, see if you like it (I don't mean go out and buy it of course but if a friend gets it try it out). As I said the combat isn't exactly easy to master but once you start to get the hang of it it's extremely enjoyable. All in all if I'd say this is a solid 7/10 just based on the beta alone.

  25. Two years after I bought it I finally started watching Tekkaman Blade. 16 episodes in and by god am I loving every minute of it (even if it is a bit campy). Great soundtrack, ok characters (hey not all anime has great characters), and a plot that's actually pretty good (if not recycled from other similar shows from the time).

Also makes me miss the old days when anime was hand animated and we didn't have all this CG shit mixed in. Sure the art wasn't always great but damn the shows were still good. Also makes me miss when anime actually had good plot and stories, not this same recycled bullshit we get every year.
