  1. So the Stormblood Early Access is fucking broke and everyone in NA trying to play the story is locked behind a mission no one can do due to SE dropping the fucking ball because of server congestion (or that's what they're saying, I've been waiting since 7 am to finish the god damn quest. Finally gave up since I can't get into the instance to do it). GG SE, I'm pretty sure if you get it fixed it's just going to break on Tuesday when SB officially launches. I forsee many angry customers and a lot of rage quitters. On a side not Samurai is fucking amazing and I think, once the story is finished on my Ninja, I'm switching jobs again. The amount of dps and damage this job can put out at 50 is enormous so I'm expecting great things from it at 70.

On a much better note I finally got around to trying out Black Desert Online tonight. Gotta say besides being a freaking beautiful game it's actually pretty fun and addicting. Really like how the combat plays out with all of its combos. Definitely worth the $10 entry fee (that is if you're computer can run it, I'm running on high settings and not having any real issues). I think I found my new game to fuck around in when I run out of things to do in FFXIV (if I ever do x.x).

I hate that argument because what MMO isn't grindy or a never ending gear treadmill (this argument toward it just ticks me off, plus it can't be any worse than fucking Destiny). Every MMO I've played is grindy as fuck and BDO is no worse than TERA, Aion, WoW, FFXIV, etc. Sure if you're trying to be the best of the best than yeah you probably need to put more time into it then say someone like me who only plays for fun.

Honestly you don't need to spend money on anything in BDO, almost everything is cosmetic anyways (from what I've noticed there's very little of anything to buy to make your life easier). Hell I've spent $800+ in just STO on ships, keys, a lifetime subscription ($200 on sale, normall $300), the Romulan starter kit (which was $150 itself), and various other things. I don't plan on spending any money in BDO except for maybe one cosmetic outfit for my Kunoichi and a pet (pets are the only things that can auto-loot in the game).

However I will admit BDO is an investment/time sink, you can really lose track of time if you don't pay attention (I played for 3 hours today without noticing it). Sadly though this might become my main MMO now because it's day 2 and fucking FFXIV is still fucking broke.

  2. LoTR Fellowship of the Rings is such a slow book. The battle of five armies in The Hobbit was only around 40 pages. In Fellowship, I'm 80 pages in and Frodo is still in the process of leaving the shire.. wtf. I'm glad the movies skipped 90% of this. Nobody would watch the movie if 2 hours was dedicated to him attending his estate while waiting on Gandalf to finally show back up 15 years after telling Frodo to keep the ring safe. Roughly 15 years he was gone.. wtf. In the movies, its like he went and made a cell phone call and came right back all worried. In the book its a boring Hobbit's life with Frodo eventually taking care of his belongings, selling his house, getting his affairs in order, getting some breakfast with Sam, etc. x_x

      I warned you XD

The problem with Tolkien is he was a world builder, not a story teller. Those small, annoying details he gives you are part of how he wrote. I love the man's books to death but god do they take forever to get things rolling (don't read The Silmarillion, if you think Fellowship is slow that book will bore you to death (it's a great read but fuck is it slow)). Thankfully The Two Towers and The Return of the King are action packed enough that they don't get boring (though the whole thing with the Ents does get a little tedious).

  3. I'll give credit where its due. Microsoft had a pretty good E3 presentation. But sadly for them the XBox One X is like the Wii U in title. Its going to get them screwed up. On top of that what percentage of the base is going to be using 4k? $500 is steep. Its like the Goldstar 3DO... unnecessarily ahead of its time. They had some time exclusive stuff, but Sony had real exclusives like Spider-Man, Days Gone, and of course God of War.

You know it's going to happen what with Playstation having timed exclusivity for Destiny 2 content and sadly it's only fair. The XBone hasn't really had any exclusive DLC for games that are really worth anything (their only real exclusive worth anything is Halo and those honestly aren't worth the console anymore).

Problem is why would you shell out money for a console with a 4k BD Player if you don't have a TV capable of playing it? I think this is the reason Sony didn't go with one, why waste money and potential sales due to cost when most of your consumer base doesn't have the tech to run it. Then again I say this after buying a PC more powerful than the XBoneX/PS4 Pro will ever be (though I do not have a 4k BD player or 4k monitor and I wouldn't waste money on it. 4k gaming is a pipe dream that only the super rich can afford and at that it's not true 4k gaming since most PC's aren't powerful enough to run it). I didn't really catch the conference since I've lost all interest in E3 (I get more excited for TGS and Gamescom) but I got the gist from Twitter (and most people were pretty underwhelmed by MS's showing).

Reason why Sony has more exclusives is because they are actually focused on gaming, not being the center entertainment hub of you're room (which is MS's big thing for the XBoneX).

  5. RIP Adam West :(

  6. When you play your best games as Mercy ever and no one votes for your card even though you clutch revived the team to victory, and got POTG twice as Mercy. Healers live a underappreciated life, but no one has any problems complaining about not having one. I've almost sunken into fulltime healer on Overwatch because now when I'm not healer, I rage when the one we have sucks. I started playing Ana and Mercy a lot more just to be proficient with them. I'm a trolling beast with Lucio now, to where I can pretty much kill tanks and hit scan heroes doing wall hanging. (Thanks DPStanky for that inspiration) Joke is on everyone else on Double XP weekend though, Healers always get a gold medal for healing... and sadly if I'm Lucio I can pull off 4-5 gold medals if my team is that bad.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I never had that problem during the free weekend, I usually always got the votes. Then again I wasn't playing with seasoned veterans like you do so that might be the reason.

If I had the money and we actually had time to play together I'd be your full-time healer, you know how good I am. Meh, it seems a lot of games are falling into this stigma now toward healers. Fuck I rarely get any commendations in FFXIV for keeping people alive when I play Scholar (especially in those fucking hard ass dungeons/raids where healing is a lot harder to do). No love for the support players x.x

  7. So the new computer finally arrived and boy is it beautiful (and bigger then I thought, thing is huge). I'm now not looking forward to installing everything I need on it to get it up to snuff like my laptop is (so much to do). Sadly I won't be playing FFXIV tonight because it's going to take 3+ hours to download and install all the updates (not to mention Heavensward which I opted to dl instead of digging my disk out of the closet).

I'll take pictures of it tomorrow and post them, to tired to do it right now as I spent the last two hours digging it out of the box and setting it up.

  8. I finished reading The Hobbit for the first time. Great book but I definitely liked the movies more. It's amazing how they took 40 pages at the end of the book about the battle of the five armies and turned it into an entire 2 1/2 hour movie. Lol. Gandalf didn't seem as powerful as he was in the movies but close enough. But the dwarves in the book were nothing like in the movies. The dwarves hardly fought at all in the book until the very end. They often relied on Gandalf or Bikbo to save them in every situation. Wtf. But the biggest difference I  the book compared to the movies was that Bilbo told them all about the ring. Lol. It wasn't even a secret. They were shocked at first but then he used it constantly.. he even had it on for a solid 2 weeks while the dwarves were imprisoned buy the elves. O_O

Good luck with that, out of all the LOTR books Fellowship is an extremely boring read (even though it has one of my favorite characters in it). It has it's high points but it drags on for what feels like forever (Moria is about the only high point of the whole book).

Honestly if I'd of seen the movies first I'd probably be looking at it the same way as you. I power read the LOTR books a month before the first movie came out and then read The Hobbit about a month after said movie came out (that was back when I was reading a new book like ever other week (I miss those days when I had the free time to read, now books just pile up and I never seem to get around to reading them)).

  9. Finished watching Saga of Tanya the Evil (Youjo Senki) last night and what a fucking trip it was. Enjoyed every minute of it which is odd for me with newer anime. For a show that uses a villain for a main character (yes this is not you're typical good guy anime show) it certainly took some risks that I thought paid off (from using a Nazi Germany like country in the Empire (this is set in a world similar to ours during the WWI era) and a sadistic 11-year old girls a the protagonist (the villain)).

Gotta say I highly recommend giving it a watch if you can (currently only up on Crunchyroll, I know Funi has the rights so it may eventually see a State side release). Can't wait for the second season.

She attends a military academy in eps 4-5 but it's not a school anime. Tanya (the sadistic 11 year old girl) is a Major by the end of the series in charge of a battalion. Like I said it's got an interesting premise and it ends up being pretty amazing.

The book is so much better than the movies but I only say that because I've read the book multiple times (and before the movies, I really should re-read it again since it's one of my favorite books). Don't get me wrong I love The Hobbit movies, they're well done and so much better than the LOTR movies (Jackson actually kept to the book really well, with the exception of the elf chick and Legolas) but he did change things up quite a bit.

  12. So I was bored yesterday and played some of the Overwatch free weekend (sadly I won't have anymore time to play it). Quite honestly I'm actually considering buying it now because Quickplay was not as bad as it was last time. It seems either people have learned to play the game. Really like a lot of the changes the game has gone through since the last time I played (really happy to see you can only have one of each hero on a team now, such a fucking lovely change). I actually think I could stomach the grind to 25 to play comp now (if I could find the time to play it, I'm working on my Bard's Anima Weapon in FFXIV and I've got less than a month till early access for the expac launches (and I still have to beat ME:A and Horizon)).

I've also pretty much proved that I'm going to be stuck playing healers as I have lost all skill at playing anything but them. Went on a tear with Lucio last night, getting play of the game for knocking two people off the map on Ilios and getting three more kills on top of it. I have to say if I didn't love Mercy as much as I do I'd have to say Lucio is my favorite hero (also got a Legendary skin for him, not to hip on it as its the blue hockey one but still it was a nice gain from a lootbox). I also wall skated my way out of dying in the center well on the first part of Ilios, was pretty fucking epic (considering I didn't think it could be done).

I also have to point out that I really like Orisa. I never actually played as her but she was a major reason as to why my group won on Defense for Volskaya in the first part of the map (that place down shield is powerful with the right set up). She's a very nice addition to the hero lineup. Also have to say I fucking hate Sombra, in the right hands she's a fucking nightmare.

Nah, everyone was too green to even know the "Pharmercy" combo or they just weren't using it. Honestly I barely ran into anyone on the opposing team playing Phara (maybe two and they sucked, I easily killed them as Lucio). Out of 10 matches I only lost one because my team wouldn't play worth the shit and kept letting me die (I was playing Mercy and no one would protect me. I kept getting flanked by Genjis, Sombras, and Tracers). I was honestly surprised by how well we were doing, I'm not wondering if some of the players I was with were high levels playing on a different profile (some of them were too good to have just picked up the game). All in all I had a great time. Wished the game was like this when it launched as I might of actually bought it once I got a job (still might but that lack of free time is what will kill me. Well that and short on funds since the computer purchase (which I still haven't gotten, that's for a rant on another day)).

No wonder Lucio felt like a god last night. I didn't know they buffed his gun damage. I got a 15 player killer streak with him and was wondering if it was a fluke (honestly didn't feel like I should of done that well). I was murdering fools left and right (and I went one on one with a Junkrat in a small room and won, I'm going to blame it on lack of skill because he should of killed me multiple times). Funny you should say that about Orisa because I was eating Reinhardt's for lunch last night. Did he get nerfed because he seems to be a lot more squishy then I remember him being (I was chewing through him with Lucio and actually killed one three times with melee attacks (that had more to do with his skill then him being weak))? Like I said I never played Orisa but the teammate who was playing as her must of knew how to play her well because they did amazing, only dying once because I was brought down by a Reaper flank. I forgot to mention that the Play of the Game I got with Lucio shutdown a Hanzo and a McCree before they got off their supers (was hilarious to hear Hanzo start his chant to all of a sudden hearing him die), thought that was worth mentioning since I've never did that before.

Meh, I've heard that about comp. I've also heard it's become a cesspool as well, much like LoL/DOTA/Smite when it comes to party chat. It's probably a good thing no one talks on PS4 (previous comment was made based on the Xbox Community). Honestly I'd probably just end up doing what you do but that's mostly due to lack of free time. I'm used to people not talking in competitive games, R6S rarely has anyone talk during a match. While frustrating it doesn't bother me since I always play objectively to begin with so as long as I'm pulling my weight I don't care how the match ends (though I will admit to fits of rage in R6S when people don't play correctly or fucking ignore me when I'm calling out enemy locations or for help).

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Meh, I felt the ending was forced as if they were just trying to live up to our expectations but fell sadly short (I mean I was all happy for Jack until the ending fully played out, plus the whole Daughters of Aku thing jsut didn't fell natural for how the show originally progressed). Honestly I thought they could of done more with the ending, maybe flesh out the season some more of make a sixth season to wrap everything up a lot nicer. Ohwell, overall it wasn't badly done it just left a sour taste in my mouth.

Honestly I never had a problem with the art direction (in fact I actually really like it) then again I'm an artist and I like this artsy shit (though cel shading will never be art, it's just poorly done and looks terrible). I thought it fit the story and setting quite well. Honestly I really need to re-watch the series completely to get a better feel for the ending because I honestly don't remember it all that well beyond Season 2 (I've seen it completely through but I honestly don't remember the middle two seasons)

  17. Once again my company restructures and my position in the company is eliminated. I'm pretty much a lock for another position they created, but its getting old having to worry about whether I'll have a job the next year when they probably do change again. It will be a night shift management position so I'll be working late again and not get to game with friends like I've been enjoying the past 8-9 months. On the upside at least I'll be back in management, and not some guy thats coded for a job he's not really doing because he's being used as a manager/utility guy.

I was going to buy a new graphics card and power supply, but its on hold now until I know for sure I'll still be employees in a few weeks. Its pretty tough watching people lose their job that you've worked with for years. It seems just about every retail company is doing this lately. I know Lowes recently laid off a shit ton of managers.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

As a guy stuck in these low level positions (mostly by choice, I've worked my way up only to have it bite me in the ass so I'm happy being down here with the grunts) it's nice to see the incentive of raising the minimum wage however they're doing it the wrong way. Raising wages to a flat $15 an hour isn't the answer, it's their way of making themselves look like they care when they don't (and a way to make it so jobs don't leave the country which sadly isn't going to stop). I've said it more than once that minimum wage needs to be based on the currently standard of living in each city/state (more so city but that's due to where I live more then anything) as, like DX pointed out, most smaller to medium sized businesses can't afford to pay wages not centered on their areas SoL (businesses that are small mom and pop shops or state chains, not businesses like Walmart who could afford to pay all their employees $15 and up an hour but choose not to (don't be fooled by them raising their wages, just a publicity stunt. More wages means less people to work now so it gets harder on those employees still there (they actually eliminated a lot of positions in the company to do this))). Sadly the people leading our country don't see this (and Trump for one doesn't give two shits about us little guys trying to make a living) and just do things without fully thinking it through and businesses don't care outside of what it will cost them (hence the lay offs and what have you). Just because $14 an hour is the bare minimum needed to be able to survive where I live (due to the Bakken/Oil Industry) doesn't mean you should be paying your employees that in a small town where $9 an hour will let them live a comfortable life (not many places I know of where $9 an hour will suffice but I'm sure they're out there).

Sadly though it'll continue to happen. Eventually minimum wage will get so high we won't have any jobs to go after as they're all shifted overseas to people willing to work for less than a dollar an hour. I don't bitch because I make enough money to cover my bills, make sure I have food, and pay for those few luxuries I enjoy (even though I'm making less money an hour then I was before I got fired, man OT really makes up that difference though) but I know of plenty of people who don't (close friends as well who can't aspire to be more because they can't afford to get the schooling or training to do so) so yeah. Like I said I don't bitch, no reason to because no matter how loud we bitch very little gets heard or changed for the better.

Sadly DX it's those people who will never give up those positions and when they eventually do they'll probably restructure again to deny you the position (don't know the situation or what its like to work for you're company but I know plenty of companies that will do shit like that saying the position is no longer needed and they were getting rid of it). No matter how indispensable you make yourself it rarely ever pays off because after awhile those people just keep using you to better themselves (me being fired is one of those instances, busted my ass for 10 months to make the store look better only to get fired due to allegations that I was stealing only because the person who deserved to get fired was trying to take everyone who helped her out with her (yea she got fired but took nearly the whole management team with her). The Store Manager didn't even try to defend us in the fallout, just let us take the fall so he wouldn't look bad (again a reason why I never want to be in a position of power again)).

  18. Well I just ordered myself a new Gaming Computer today. Don't know if its a good thing or not yet considering how much money I just dropped ($2100) but with my laptop having GPU issues I figured it was time to bite the bullet. Went through CyberpowerPC as everything I hear about them and their PC's are great (a streamer I follow uses them as well) and I don't have the time to build my own at the moment (god damn 50+ hour work weeks).

Here's to hoping the thing is worth the money (should be, I picked a mid-specced pre-built and changed a few things around (GPU (changed from a stock GTX 1070 to an EVGA GTX 1070), Cooling, OS Drive (changed to a 500 Gig SSD), and Storage Drive (added a 2 TB HDD) were the only real things I changed. And yes I researched everything before I chose them).

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

It'll have LED lights, whether I use them or not will be another thing (I'm not into the lighted case thing, my Alienware lights up but it's just a gimmick). The monitor I chose is an older ASUS model, https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236174&cm_re=VS247H-P-_-24-236-174-_-Product

It's gotten pretty favorable reviews and I went pretty cheap (it was on sale through CyberPower) since the tower ended up being a little more expensive then I wanted it to be (not much more but god damn SSD's are still expensive as hell). I plan on going with a two monitor set-up when I get a bigger desk (current desk is only big enough for the tower and monitor sadly) so I'll be shelling out quite a bit more money when I get my second one (this one will end up being the secondary monitor and making the new one my primary monitor).

Sadly I have to call them on Monday because it seems there was a problem processing the order (not sure what but I'm gathering its a verification for fraud prevention). Hopefully it won't delay it by too much, I need this thing before the 20th of June for Stormblood (yea, my life is pretty much run by work and FFXIV).

I bitch and moan about my 50 hour work weeks but at least I know I won't be loosing my job anytime soon (as long as the oil industry keeps doing well considering they're one of our major customers).

On the upside you're management again (well if that is an upside, I hated being a manager) and hopefully that comes with a raise.

  20. My car is screwed up. :crap: It has an overheating issue but it doesn't show it as an issue. The radiator fan wont turn on unless my AC or heater is on. No check engine light or anything. After a long diagnosis at a dealership, they've concluded that the computer in the car itself is failing and needs to be replaced. Never had that happen to a car before. Its a hefty bill to get that swapped out. I could go cheap and buy a used part off ebay for $30-100 but I don't see the point when theres no way to test the damn things accurately considering mine is reading as functioning normally. wtf. :( Instead of trading in the car, I'll foot the $1k bill next week when the get the part in. I really don't want another car payment at this point.

Damn that sucks man but I feel ya. My car threw a check engine light on Wednesday, sadly I haven't had time to get it in and checked out (50 hour work weeks is really killing my ability to just get basic maintenance on my car done). A friend at work is going to bring his scanner in on Monday so we can check to see what the code is and hope it's not going to be a costly fix (funny thing is car is running fine so I'm thinking its a minor issue but with my luck with cars it's going to be an extremely costly fix).

  21. Finished Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Season 2 last night. Gotta say it wasn't as good as the first season and it was kind of a let down story wise but the battles were freaking amazing (I am in love with Barbatos, that fucking machine is amazing). I think the title of "Kill them all" has finally been taken from Tomino, good god Nagai was kill happy (I honestly didn't think anyone was going to survive to see the end (yea, kind of a spoiler but not really as I didn't say who dies)). All in all a solid 7/10, definitely worth a watch if you looking for an action oriented show (not the best Gundam to come out but it definitely ranks up there as a damn good addition to the franchise as a whole).

Also started watching Grimgar tonight since DX had mentioned what he thought of it it awhile ago (and it's up on Crunchy so I don't have to watch those fansubs I got a hold of). Only 4 episodes in and I have to say that was one hell of a gut punch, not because of his death but because of the way the others took it. Fucking hit me right in the feels. I do have to say that I was right, it feels like a cross between Log Horizon (being sucked into another world) and SAO (death being permanent) without the whole being a game aspect (since it seems it's never actually confirmed/denied). Overall I'm enjoying it so far, looking forward to what the next 8 episodes have to offer.

Considering the new thing now-a-days is to consider 13 episode a season I consider SAO to be be 4 13 episode seasons (split into their respective arcs of course) but technically it's two seasons. Should of probably said Arcs 1, 3, and 4 (10 hour work days turns my brain into jelly).

Finished Grimgar tonight and I really enjoyed the ride. Great characters, good story, awesome soundtrack, and so many damn feels (god damn Mary's backstory is freaking tragic). I'd really like to see a 2nd season of this as I know there's more to the story (so much more from what I've gathered but I won't ruin it for everyone), so please give me one. Solid 9/10 for me and I can't recommend it enough (I think I liked this better then Seasons 1, 3 and 4 of SAO and both seasons of Log Horizon (I might be stretching a bit there, Log Horizon is a damn good show in its own right)). I just noticed last night that Funimation is releasing this in May on DVD/BD so I think I'll have to pick up the BD when it releases (definitely plan on re-watching this one, nice relaxing show that really hits you in the feels when you don't expect it).

  23. Finally ended up breaking down and paying for a Crunchyroll membership on Sunday (cancelled my TOR subscription since I've done everything the game has to offer for now) since it seems the hay day of fansubs is dead (and I was dying to watch IBO season 2 and now I can finally get caught up on Sailor Moon Crystal (god that just sounds wrong)). Gotta say, and believe me it hurts to say this, they've really come a long way since I last used them back when they were doing this illegally. Great quality, passable subs (need a little more work on localization but they're better then they used to be), and I get to watch everything on my TV instead of my computer (major bonus for me).

My only gripe is I wish they had more to offer. Their selection is rather small for having a partnership with Funi (then again I've seen pretty much everything I want to see that Funi has to offer). Meh, hopefully they'll continue to grow and get more stuff (and hopefully older stuff, a lot of the newer shows these days suck).

Yea it was the 4Kids dub but like I said I pretty much know what happens in every arc up to Marineford from reading the Wiki and from my obsessed friend (plus I have seen some of the stuff subbed). I already planned on watching it from the beginning because I know just how horrible 4Kids was at stripping everything they thought was offensive from the shows they released. Honestly even if I had seen the Funi dub I'd probably restart anyways since its been a long time since I've seen any of One Piece (plus, as you all know, I prefer watching anime subbed because I can't stand the English VA's).

I don't doubt it, 4kids has ruined everything they've touched from Pokemon to Yu-Gi-Oh. They're really one of the worst companies out there when it come to anime localization.
