  1. My Mobile game spending habits have been pretty tame. I'll drop a few dollars on Arknights banners now and then. Azur Lane, I have it to a science to generally go into events with 100+ cubes to get everything. But lets face it. Azur Lane makes it's money off skins... and the best way to get skins is to make it easy to get the ships. Arknight's skins are mad expensive, and I only found out last week that the Siege one I really want is gonna be free with Contingency Contract coming up! Other than that, they don't do much for me as the E2 art looks amazing as is... and I'm the only one that gets to see them so I can't flex.

Azur Lane tho I can flex with my defense fleet in PvP. XD Plus you can have multiple secretaries grace your home page at random. Being a man of culture, I can appreciate all the fan service bikini skins they throw out there... but it ain't for me. The in game chibis have to look just as good as the secretary full art to get my money. That being said... they just had to bring out a bunch of black dress skins.... and FINALLY Enterprise gets a skin that's not prudishly modest. INSTAPURCHASE! I went to town on the Qipao skins a few months ago. I'll probably buy most of these as well. I'll buy skins for characters I don't have yet if the art is good and the in game model looks cool. (I'm so glad I bought that Taihou L2D qipao now that I have her XD)

Interesting, the open world concept sounds fun so I really hope it's implemented well. This new update might actually get me playing a lot more than I currently do (will also mean I'm going to have to step my research game way up to get those anti-siren ships built (curse you Izumo for not being done yet). Really want to get my hands on Azuma). Also look at that Unicorn Oath skin, so fucking adorable. Going to have to start using Uni a lot more so I can oath her (good thing she's my secondary carrier for my RN fleet).

I was using PVP to level but as I said I just got to bored doing it and I don't need to do it for SR Bulins (I've got those coming out of my ears, don't know what to do with them all). Should really do it more so I can get Eldridge but just can't bring myself to do it unless an event mission requires it.

Yeah, for some reason the game just likes handing me SE ships left and right (except Nagato, so pissed I didn't get her during her event) but won't give me shit for RN or IB. As I said not complaining as I love the SE ships but I really want to build up a killer IB fleet. I think I'm only missing like 30 or so SE ships (I know I'm missing 10 SR's and have most of the Rares and Normals (missing like 5 normals I think). Not to sure how many epics I'm missing). Most of what I am missing is event only though so it'll be awhile before I get those (most of the Epics I'm missing are chapter related (like Hiryuu and Souryuu, some reason the game decided I didn't deserve them when I was doing the story)).

Also can I just point out how fucking cute Little Illustrious is. God what a fucking great addition to the game. I also didn't know there was a Little Bel either and after seeing her I must spend all my cubes to get her. Man, Yostar out here playing a dangerous game with these adorable mini version ships (I really want Akagi-chan but gold is becoming a slight issue lately with me increasing level caps and this event (thankfully I got the last event ship I needed today so goodbye cubes, Strider wants his Akagi-chan)).

Shit most of my ships are Sakura Empire, must be getting lucky on those pulls or something (EU and SE make up the bulk of my ships). Not complaining as I love the look of the SE ships and almost all of my favorite ships come from them (except Laffy). I believe my faction levels for both Eagle Union and Sakura Empire are 3 (almost 4, would have to double check). Fuck I don't even know how to get my hands on Iron Blood ships, they're so rare it's not even funny (it doesn't help that most of the good ones are event locked (like Deutschland, Graf Spree, and Bismarck)).

My main fleet make up is Amagi, Kaga, and Akagi for backline (really punishing with Akagi and Kaga synergizing with each other) and the current frontline is Laffy, Takao, and Kawakaze (working on getting Ayanami up so she can replace Laffy (so she can go spearhead my EU fleet) and then I can take full advantage of Amagi's buff). This set-up is extremely good for PVP (haven't lost a match yet attacking, think my win rate in total is 99%) as well though I haven't gotten any higher then Commander rank as I get extremely bored doing PVP in this game.

Shit I don't even have one 120 ship yet. my highest is Laffy at 114 (like I said only really do events and I don't push myself by trying to do hard mode stuff). That's kind of the reason I stalled at 9-1 as my fleets were taking some serious damage trying to get through 8. Need to retool them somewhat and try again.

I'd give you my Essex but sadly I don't want to give her up (she's my secondary carrier in my EU fleet with Enty). I never did get Formidable either (but I really don't care, I want Bismarck with a passion and really want a rerun of her event like now (I need her so badly for my IB fleet, Tripitz can't cut it as the lone Battleship)).

No I didn't see that then again I don't really pay much attention to AL Twitter unless it's about new skins and I haven't really been in the discord channel as of late either. I'm totally down for an open world part, might get me back into playing the game more often.

And people say I have a mobile game addiction XD

I've been pondering buying Enterprise's new skin but since I rarely use her anymore I don't want to drop the gems on it (even if I dropped $30 on the pack they just released (was really hoping for her skin but got Mass's instead)). Since I only have access to three secretaries right now (I'm still on chapter 9-1, I don't honestly throw much time into this anymore outside of events so I stalled on story progression) I don't really throw much money at skins but all I really need is Laffy and her adorable Oath skin to make me happy (well and Akagi in her oath skin though I'm seriously thinking about dropping gems to get her New Year's skin (and Atago's as well since Laffy, Akagi, and Atago are currently my secretaries)).

What they need to freaking do is get me a skin for Amagi (preferably an oath skin) because she's a staple of my first fleet (flagship in fact) and she's the only one without a skin in the entire fleet. Makes me sad they do my girl wrong like that as she's tied with Akagi for my second favorite ship (nothing will ever beat Laffy out of first, nothing I say).

  4. Since I'm on my weekend atm from the new job (after 6 days of hell, fuck this essential business shit people be crazy) I decided to watch the new Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 that was put up on Netflix last Thursday. Note that this is only half of what we're supposed to get so my opinions are only reflective of that and they may change come the release of the final 12 episodes. With that in mind lets begin.

As most of you know I'm a huge fan of the GitS franchise ever since I saw the first movie over 15 years ago and have since seen and read everything released since then with the exception of side stories never released in the US (and own all of that as well) so my opinions on this are coming from a long-time obsessive fan so please keep that in mind. Also I will refrain from divulging any spoilers as you'll probably watch this anyway when you get a chance (please note its in Japanese only with English subtitles due to the "rona").

Quite honestly I'm not entirely sure how I felt about this as a whole. On one end it's not bad I might go as far as saying it's pretty good for a cyberpunk show but this is not GitS and this is not SAC for me. Hell I never thought I'd say it but Arise is a lot better then this and I have way to many gripes about that show to even begin. At least Arise felt like a GitS show and story even if it was blandly done with some pretty bad writing (the Arise movie was grade A GitS though, I definitely suggest watching that).

My major gripe is they explain nothing of what happened in the 11 year time span between Solid State Society and this, nothing. They go over world developments and why things are the way they are but they in no way explain major plot elements behind why the Major and her crew are in the US (2045 starts out in the US, not a real big spoiler), they vaguely explain the main premise driving the plot forward from that point (a point that does not seem very GitS like to me), why certain characters are no longer seen or heard from (until later in the 12 eps), and just all around weirdness that is this post Solid State Society world. It's aggravating because the way things were left at the end of SSS you would of thought we'd be getting another procedural GitS season driven forward by strong character driven episodes and interesting plot lines, instead we're left with boring long winded arcs that get nowhere (and maybe 2 enjoyable episodes not part of the overall plot) and in the end we're left with a major cliff hanger at the end. It's aggravating honestly and it seems more like this season was made to pander more to western audiences with short attention spans instead of the original core fanbase (sorry, venting a little. I felt very betrayed by this). Like I said though if this was non-GitS related I'd say it was a good show if not a little pandering.

Music wise (yes I'm a huge fan of the SAC soundtrack, there's a reason I own all 4 soundtracks) I was utterly disappointed. Yoko Kanno is nowhere to be found here and it's extremely noticeable but it's to be expected as she's mostly retired from the industry. This left a sour taste in my mouth since, as I noted above, I'm a huge fan of the SAC soundtrack and it was one of the major reasons I enjoyed the first two seasons so much. Don't even get me started on the OP, not my cup of tea and certainly not something I'd associate with GitS (though I do like the ED).

Animation wise I can't stand the full CGI or the character redesigns. This felt way to much like I was watching cutscenes from a game 10 years ago. Not to say the CG isn't crisp or anything it's very well done and the fight scenes are a joy to watch. Sadly this isn't Pixar level CGI and it shows. Maybe I'm bitter because they went full CGI instead of the traditional/CG blend they did with SAC and 2nd Gig but I found this to be way more off putting than I thought it would be. Plus the Major's redesign makes her look like a 14 year old teenager and that's just not my jam (where's my hot, sophisticated badass woman?).

Thankfully the characters are the same and that was a joy to behold. Watching them interact with each other was extremely enjoyable and I'm happy to see they weren't changed one bit (this goes for the Tachikoma's as well so if you found them annoying they're still going to be annoying (I, personally, love the adorable little trouble makers)). The new characters are just as enjoyable and I just love Purin, she's beyond adorable with her little crush on Batou.

All in all like I said above I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the show. Part of me wants to destroy all the masters and make everyone forget this and the other part of me just thinks it's a below average GitS that just so happens to be somewhat enjoyable. Granted we're only 12 episodes in and my opinion might change once we get the last 12 episodes (did they ever announce when that'd be?) but those are my current thoughts on the show. If I had to give it a rating out of 10 it'd mostly likely be a 6 (which pains me to do considering how generous I was with Arise). Do I suggest watching it? Honestly that's for you to decide. I gave my honest thoughts so take them how you will though but if you are a major fan of the GitS franchise don't get your hopes up to much (then again maybe this is to your liking).

  5. Welp second round of layoffs today at work (oh we weren't going to have anymore my ass) and I got myself a permanent vacation from work again. At least this time it's not an outright firing and I did get paid for the whole day plus I'm getting paid for the entirety of next week as well. Also get to retain my health insurance to the end of the month (which means my ass needs to get down to the pharmacy and get my HBP meds refilled before I lose it).

Fucking sucks after putting all that time into that fucking company and learning shit I never wanted to learn in hopes it'd help keep my job. Fat lot of good that did. They also had the audacity to say I'm able to be re-hired once market conditions favor them hiring more people. When will that be? Fuck knows but I have no intention of going back unless they're willing to hire me back at more or equal to what I was getting paid (though, in all honesty, not fucking worth it).

Now I get to experience the joy of finding a new job again in a market overflowing with job seekers and nobody's really hiring in my area right now due to this epidemic. Not only that I need to find a job that pays roughly what I was getting which is going to be hard around here as well. Looking like I'll have to go back to retail which will be a massive hit in pay for me.

I also get to experience filing for unemployment for the first time in my life. So looking forward to that.

Sigh, on the bright side I have plenty of time to watch anime and play games until I find a new job. Guess that's a silver lining.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

@SledgstoneYea I'm currently looking into the unemployment but since my state is so god damn slow they haven't put into place the COVID measures yet. I'll be filing a claim next week as I'm still technically getting paid for next week but I'll try my luck and hope the COVID measures are in place (and there are weekly cut off dates, I have until 11:59 pm Saturday of the week I'm trying to get benefits for). Fuck we're one of the 10 or so states that hasn't even implemented shelter at home policies (because our Governor is a fucking idiot) so I'm honestly not that surprised. COBRA is something I'll only if necessary, I have some job leads but I have until the end of the month until I have to worry about that (plus I won't get the COBRA packet till then anyways).

@DeathscytheXYea you said it. I saw the writing on the wall yesterday pretty early based on how people were acting and my Production Lead (the guy under my supervisor) said he thought they were doing layoffs again so I had somewhat of a heads up (even if I did think I was safe). Fucking Supervisor vanished like a fart in the wind about an hour before the layoffs happened so I'm pretty fucking sure he's the reason why I was chosen (he's new and I don't think he honestly liked me all that much, damn my issues with authority (j/k but I'm still pretty sure he didn't like me)). I find it funny though, they fucked my department over massively as I'm the only one who was trained to do my job so I wish them luck in getting shit done the right way (plus they let go of another person in my department that I know of so that leaves them down to two people right now). Really hope it bites them in the fucking ass (yea, I'm a vengeful guy).

Luckily I have some job leads already and put in one application today to Menards (the Midwest's wests version of Lowes/Home Depot even though we also have them. My mother works there and she's going to try and see if she can get me hired). With my 11 years of retail experience I'm pretty sure I can get in as long as they're still hiring (as far as I know they are). I might see if I can't get into a local internet provider as a field tech as I have some training in that field as well (plus one is hiring, I just need to get a hold of the company).

Sadly none of the distributors in my area are hiring (was one of the first things I checked yesterday). I'll chat with one of my distributor friends and see if his company is hiring (they're pretty much a distributor of multiple things (beer, soda, etc)) and also see if he can put in a good word for me (I've known him for years so I'm sure he will). Honestly most of the jobs in my area are linked to the oil field so with them down it's hard as fuck to find anything but scraps for work (and I mean scraps, $12 an hour or less depending on what it is. I can't afford to live on that wage).

If worse comes to worse I'll just do construction until something else comes up. One of the local construction companies is hiring general laborers right now and I don't mind that kind of work (I just need to be trained).

@slippersThanks, taking it one day at a time.

Overall though I'm not that worried right now. I have plenty of money saved up and while losing my health and dental insurance at the end of the month is going to suck I'll get by. I can always defer my student loan payments and save quite a bit of money for a few months (not ideal as I've done it before but you gotta do what you gotta do). It's times like these that I'm glad I'm extremely cheap and frugal with my money (I never eat out (rarely order pizza), I buy maybe 2-3 games a year (though this will mean I probably won't be getting Ghost of Tsushima right when it comes out and I might have to cancel my Cyberpunk pre-order if this unemployment carries on too long), and I've cut way back on the amount of anime I buy now (only doing one order a year)).

  6. The internet is about to get lit son. I highly suggest downloading and redownloading games and other media you can use if there is no internet. XD Probably just a precaution and overraction since I was having a lot of constant loading and network errors on Azur Lane this morning. I suspect people will be hitting their mobile gaming more. I know Netflix decreased the streaming quality in Europe already anticipating this. I almost had a cow earlier when I won a PvP and it started loading a long time before registering my victory.

XD Lexington must be pretty sparse then or we're just a laid back bunch of people who play at a leisurely pace (wouldn't really know though, not like I talk in chat or anything).

I follow the Azur Lane twitter just so I know whats coming up so I can make my plans for getting shit done XD (also in their discord as well, I might have a problem). Hey now just because I introduced you into the game doesn't mean.......well okay maybe it is my fault but dammit Yostar shouldn't make such a damn fun game XD Meh, I get the noob thing I was like that when I first started playing. Blowing countless cubes in the hopes of better ships, blowing my entire coin fund on shit I don't need, fumbling through shit without understanding a damn thing, and enjoying every minute of it as I mindlessly wasted hours. Ah, what I wouldn't give to have those feeling again. Oh who am I kidding, AL is probably the only game I really enjoy anymore (outside of Arknights occasionally and Girls Frontline). Just don't tell the other mobile games I play, they might get jealous XD

Oh yeah Saria definitely got maxed out level wise (nowhere near able to get the resources to promote her) and thrown directly into my party once I got her (I've been trying to get Nearl but since Saria is better overall I'm happy with this). She even helped me get through a stage I was having trouble getting through. Honestly I'm surprised I got the Top Operator tag considering my luck in these types of games. I damn near had a heart attack when I got it the first time and was surprised as all hell this morning when it dropped (granted I had to refresh both times to get it). Then again I have shit luck in headhunts and pulls so maybe that's Yostar's way of saying sorry (though the last pull I did I did get Silence and three Sieges so theirs that).

Ah, that would be the server they took down the other day (couldn't remember the name).

Heh, I never had issue around Valentine's Day then again I only log in during the morning (around 5 am) and evening in non-event periods. Plus why rush, your shipfu's message will be there when you log in XD (I mean Laffy made sure I got mine, such a considerate and adorable little ship (yes I have an obsession, don't mind me)). Then again I'm not surprised, some people take their shipfu's very seriously XD

I still haven't even finished Izumi yet, good god you and your playing habits (I've still got 83% to go as of today).

Meh, I kinda dropped off the Arknights bandwagon (if you haven't been able to tell, just log in to get daily completion stuff done). I still find it fun but it just seems like to much work compared to Azur Lane and Girl's Frontline (then again I don't really put much working into those as well). Though I did get a Top Operator pull in recruit this morning and picked up Ifrit (got one like 3 weeks ago as well and got Saria) so my interest is somewhat renewed again.

You sure it's not Azur Lane? I know they took the servers down for extended maintenance last week due to connectivity issues and they took a server down the other day for the same reasons. I play on Lexington and have had no issues at all today playing even with my unreliable internet.

  10. Went grocery shopping today so we can skip this weekend. It was crazy. Like black Friday busy but for groceries. At walmart, the aisle with toilet paper was blocked off with an employee at both ends allowing only 2 customers at a time in it because yesterday there was a fight over toilet paper. Wtf. The smaller grocery store in the same shopping plaza was busy as hell to but didn't have aisles blocked off. Flipping crazy.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Not going to lie the Walmart here was pretty barren in a lot of areas on the grocery side (Produce was pretty much wiped out, milk and juices were pretty much out of stock, frozen was pretty barren (I've never seen a frozen pizza section that wiped out in my life and I worked frozen goods for 11 years when I was still in retail)), water isle was sparse but you could still get it if you needed to, etc). It's extremely sad people are flipping the shit on ebay/amazon but it's no real different then when a new console comes out, fucking greedy ass bastards.

It's sad really as North Dakotans don't really get that worked up over this kind of shit. Granted they can be pretty idiotic but I think our issue is all the out of state people that moved up here to work in the Bakken and the foreigners we have living in the state who get worked up over shit like this. Down right bat shit crazy.

I wouldn't doubt there are more cases then whats been reported (especially with our governments lack luster response to this) but I doubt it's anywhere that high (I could be wrong but it's highly unlikely especially in rural areas and states like ND where we're pretty isolated. Than again we do have one confirmed case in the state so who knows)). I get the feeling we'll get statewide quarantines before we get a nationwide one, especially in states where the number of infected is in the 100's because there's no way Trump and his administration would allow the US to come to a complete standstill for weeks (it'd look bad to his otherwise perfect image (heavy sarcasm implied here)) as it'd show weakness and ineptitude.

Meh, we'll have to play the waiting game. It's just interesting how shit hits the fan when people get this paranoid. Someone should really do a case study on the stupidity of people in situations like this, it'd be an extremely interesting read (and should be used as teaching material for future generations on what not to do).

Considering all stores in my area are 24 hour stores that's impossible. I could always have one of my friends that work at Walmart grab some for me when it comes in but I'm honestly not that worried. It's just stupid how people are acting and fucking over everyone else (plus it's not locals doing this, we have people driving an hour and a half to buy shit in bulk (which is sad considering the city they're coming from is 3 times larger than us with more stores to go to)).

Oh well, I've got two hands if it comes to it XD

Went shopping today and fucking Walmart was completely out of Toilet Paper (which, like Yong, I'm currently in need of. Not as badly as him but it's going to be interesting come the end of the week) as is pretty much every other store in the area (fuck they were even out of paper towels and wet wipes). Fucking hell people are fucking stupid.

Should also mention Walmart was pretty much out of everything else which is going to make shopping next week interesting (in a fucking state that has one fucking confirmed case of COVID-19, ONE FUCKING CASE). People just need to settle the fuck down.

  13. Its no secret I have an extremely poor diet consisting of mostly red meat and dairy products. XD But I have definitely cut back on sugar intake over the past couple of years. I'll still eat candy and sweets now and then, but I drink soda maybe a few times a year when something interesting comes out. (Like Dr. Pepper Cream Soda 🤤). I'll drink a glass or two of sweet tea when I go out to eat, and on holidays. But outside of that its coffee and water daily. I haven't put sugar in my coffee in probably 15 years. A few months ago I got into sparkling water because I miss soda, but at the same time I don't... I really don't enjoy it as much as I use too, but water gets awful boring sometimes. La Croix is fucking nasty, I already knew that well before this. But with the sudden explosion of new rivals I took a tour of whats available. Pepsi's Bubly is ok, The apple is probably my favorite out of all of them. Coke had Desani sparking water which was actually pretty good. The lime almost tasted like sprite... but they discontinued all of it for this new AHA shit with weird ass flavors. I tried Blueberry Pomegranate because it was the most normal one, and it seriously went flat before it even got room temp. I sat it down for a few minutes and when I took another sip all the carbonation was gone, wtf? San Pellegrino makes decent ones as well. But the best IMO is Perrier. I'd say Strawberry is the best, followed by Watermelon and Peach. It has a caveat though. There is something magical about the can. XD You have to drink it out of the can ice cold, and the flavor is good along with the different style carbonation (apparently it's natural). Once you pour it into a glass or get one of those plastic bottle versions, its not the same. It tastes flat and flavorless. Its very odd.

But anyways. I don't enjoy sweet drinks anymore at all outside of tea. Maybe its a mental thing because it bothers my acid reflux, but it all started with the alcohol I drank, I moved away from rum or anything mixed as I stopped liking sweet liquor. Then it just kinda carried over to my daily beverages. I treat the rare soda as a dessert now. I can't stomach more than 1 in a day. I have no idea how I use to throw back 3-4 a day when I was a teenager. XD:barf2:

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I can't stand sparkling water so more power to you for being able to stomach it (water should not be carbonated, it's just wrong). Funny thing I stopped drinking pop (or soda as you call it) for like 8 years (also quit drinking alcohol as well since I mostly drank mixed drinks) and now all of a sudden I'm back to drinking it again and I'm really disappointed in myself (though in retrospect I really can't be, even though I gave up pop I was throwing back 2 cans of NOS or Monster a day, can't do that anymore since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Drinking an energy drink now makes me sick as fuck and causes some serious chest pain due to the hbp meds I'm on). It's not like I'm drinking half a twelve pack like I did when I was a teen, I drink one Sprite a day (I don't consider it pop considering there's no caffeine in it) and I drink 2 cans of Code Red on Saturdays and Sundays (I'm so wiped out from the week at work I need that caffeine just to get through the weekend) it's still a disappointment that I gave it up for that long only to cave in again.

I tend to stick more towards plain water (due to what I do at work I drink like 4-5 bottles of water a day, more if it's during the summer (working in a shop in 90+ degree weather fucking sucks)), low calorie Gatorade (for the lack of sodium, hbp and all), and tea (not your sweet tea (can't stand it), I stick to my Nestea).

I still don't know how people drink coffee, That shit is disgusting :barf2:

  14. I finished reading The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. I actually finished the book a month or two ago, and then started reading all the extra appendices at the end.. and that was alot of material. It was interesting to read about what happened after the movies ended and the eventual end of Aragorn's life all those years upon years later. And all the extra info about the origins of middle earth and the different ages. I didn't finish the entire appendix, I got burned out on it since most of it doesn't read like a full story. Once I got to a section where it was showing large time lines of events, mostly from the original trilogy I stopped. It was a good chunk of info.

On a side note, the actual ending of LotR was in the shire with the hobbits raising a small hobbit army to defaut Saruman. lol. Who'd have ever seen that coming? XD That wasn't in the movie. XD

      XD

I'll warn you it's a slog and a half when you do get around to reading it and pretty much every story is unfinished but it's probably one of the best reads out there for Middle-Earth knowledge. It covers the first two ages and goes into great detail about the Undying Lands (where the elves, Gandalf, and the other wizards are from), why the elves came to Middle Earth, Sauron and his master, the creation of the rings of power, the origins of Aragorn's family line and why he so long lived, and many many more things. Just talking about it is making me want to read it again.

Bah, I read the entire appendices and enjoyed every minute of it 😛 Honestly I don't blame you any, it's a freaking slog through all of that but there is a lot of good information in there that actually clears up a lot of questions you might of had while reading the book (though sadly not an entire answer). Plus most of that stuff is actually covered in more detail in The Silmarillion (a book that will try your patience but probably my favorite book Tolkien wrote (well wrote notes and his son compiled them as best he could)).

Yea they kinda skipped the book ending and jumped straight to the Grey Havens. While I do like that ending I really don't think it'd of made for a good movie ending (though seeing an army of Hobbits in action would of been amazing).

  16. Oof. This anime season is supremely lackluster so far. Black Clover assumes the top spot since this arc is batshit crazy. Not really impressed by anything new. Nekopara, BOFURI, and... *takes in a bunch of air* If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die, are cute. Plunderer will probably end up being my favorite of the new stuff. Most will play in the background while I grind Arknights/AL. At least it looks like Paranoia Agent is coming to Funi. It'll be a blast to watch through that weirdness again.

  17. Muh feels. Holy cow my eyes. 😭 MHA's dub fell a week behind last month so I just got to the end of the fight and the Nighteye hospital scene. I wasn't expecting that from MHA. It doesn't help that Kono Oto Tomare's finale was phenomenal and also misty eye inducing. Anime brutalized my emotions today. XD

  18. I got on the Arknights hype train. Its pretty fun but it will drain your battery pretty good. If you like tower defense style games it's worth checking out for a time killer.

Yea, I picked up Pramanix. She's pretty good and is nice since she's also an arts caster. Her ability is pretty nice as well and she's been clutch in a lot of the levels I've cleared. Kinda wish AoE arts casters weren't so god damn high on cost, makes it really hard to clear maps with multiple enemies. I got lucky and headhunted Matterhorn with my first 10 draw (along with Siege, a six star vanguard). My most clutch character is Meteorite, a 5 star sniper and is AoE Physical Damage. She's pretty damn nice for taking out heavily armored enemies and big groups, just wish her deployment cost wasn't 24.

I'm a little over halfway done with getting Amiya's skin, just been to sick to really be playing much in the way of games lately (god the Flu sucks as will my paycheck for missing a day and a half of work, normally I don't get this sick so my immune system is slacking). Been putting a lot of focus on grinding out those experience items and boosting my unit levels. Only two starred the last two missions of chapter 1 and it's bugging me so I'm going to brute force the bitch with higher levels (haven't even started chapter 2 yet except for the first tutorial due to knowing how rough it's going to be without enough slowing units). I'll post a screenshot of my current squad later, still in the middle of tweaking it.

I have all of Laffy's skins except the Bunny Clerk? one (missed out on it when it was up last time, will be buying it this time) so yea I have it but ever since her Oath skin came out she's been wearing it (and I'll never take it off unless Yostar makes an even cuter one, do it Yostar I'll give you all the monies in the world for a new skin for my girl). Fuck you play more then I do if you have St. Louis, I still don't even have Izumi done yet (this 2 million xp with Sakura ships is fucking killing me, took like 4 months to grind the 1 million xp requirement). Then again I do only put major time into AL during events so it's not surprising.

Yea, most mobile games aren't Pay to Win so their micro-transactions are usually pretty damn good. Plus mobile developers, while still greedy, are much more generous and willing to give out free stuff when necessary to keep their player base happy. Hell almost everyone of the mobile games I currently play are extremely casual friendly. I just wish these damn gacha games weren't so addicting x.x, I'd like to cut back on the amount of mobile games I play but since I play mostly gacha games it's hard (damn you gacha game, why are you so much fun).

Yeah I'm going to have to start rethinking my strategy as my team is mostly 4 stars and up and heavily melee focused. Been getting repeat recruit pulls so my lower star units aren't really varied enough to make a proper team.

Haven't checked my builds yet so I don't know if I got any of the increased pull ships or not. Was to focused on completing event missions while I was still coherent this morning XD

  21. Lets take a moment of appreciation for how utterly bad ass Maki's fight was on this weeks Fire Force. Same dude Arthur struggled with. That rig Vulcan set her up with is wicked. I'm really not ready for season 1 to end. Same with Dr. Stone. Both totally different series with outstanding world building. Its gonna feel a bit empty when they're done. Yea, Trials are hard as fuck to get people for (especially the older ones like Ramuh). Unless you have a bunch of new people trying to clear the story content you're pretty much fucked unless you get a lucky draw (fuck I haven't seen a striking tree in over 2 years, I just got Garuda Hard Mode in Trials Roulette on Sunday and it surprised the fuck out of me, been a long time since I've done it (I'm used to soloing all the Extreme modes on a weekly basis (well the ones that are up for Khloe's book for the week))). Really the only advice I can give in those situations is to ask a friend to help out by queueing as a healer/tank or form a Party Finder group and hope people are feeling generous (I mean the XIV community is great at helping new people, downright amazing even but for some reason PF groups for old stuff just never seem to go through (at least on Crystal)). Plus it's very rare for healers and tanks to queue up for already in progress dungeons and it's fucking retarded but I guess the instant queue pops make them think they don't have to (I always have the option checked even when I'm queueing as a tank, I know the pain of a group falling apart due to the loss of a tank or healer all to well as a dps main).

Heh, I bought gems for a dock expansion and now I'm seriously considering getting Ayanami or Cleveland's New Years skin but then again I want to save the gems because of the amount of new ships I'm getting (and no I'm having shit luck with the event. I've only gotten Noshiro (today) and Suruga (two days ago). I have such terrible luck with event ships).

Yea that's a pretty good way of destroying cube funds when you're building 10 a day. As of three days ago I've pretty much gotten every Elite ship in the build rotation so now I'm only building for events (or when I need SR Bulins from 10 weekly missions completed quest). Totally understand blowing them though to get a certain ship though (did exactly that to get a couple of them.)

Man you're further on the event then me. I just finished B-2 today but I only do two clears a night on days I work (just enough to complete the 15 enemies defeated daily). Man I rarely try to do the event hard modes because they require the normals to be cleared and 9 times out of 10 I usually don't clear the normals before it's done (I get roughly 2 1/2 hours after work to get shit done before I go to bed and it's really hard to justify giving more than 5 minutes to Azur Lane or any of the mobile games I play (shit and hour of that is usually eaten up by XIV)). I really should try harder since you have a better chance of acquiring certain ships during them but it's just so hard to find the time to do so.

Yea certain ships have missions if you place them as your Secretary. Atago and Taihou are two others (and the only two I've tried it with, currently stuck on the raising affection to 100 step for both of them). Also working on Akashi as well since I only just found out that's the only way to get her as a ship. Not to sure how many others have little missions like that though (it's listed on the wiki that's how I found out about Taihou and Atago).

      Strider Hiryu

Heh, welcome to the hell of Mobile Games my friend XD

Yea, I'm not going to lie juggling more than one mobile game is pretty challenging and I've actually ditched quite a few to bring the number more in line with what I can handle (and will most likely be dropping another one here soon) but it's so much apart of my daily routine that I hardly notice the amount of time I stick in (most of the time I log in about 2 hours a day between all 10 of them just to get daily log-in bonuses and what not). Really my main focuses though are Azur Lane, Girls Frontline (gun waifus, got way more time invested in it then I do AL and way more money sunk in), Sword Art Online Memory Defrag (mostly just a log-in, collect daily shit, and log-out game for me now), and AFK Arena (a nice game that requires very little time, just log-in and do your daily shit plus collect built up exp/treasure/money and log out. Game literally takes care of the rest). The other six are mostly just time wasters.

Make sure you do what you can for the event, there are some nice little prizes if you do (like an SR ship if you collect 8000 of the green currency). Whether that's just building 3 ships, killing 20 enemies, doing the 1 hard clear, or going all out and clearing the event stages you can. This is a really good way of filling in wholes in your team if you're lacking ships (and an extremely good way to level your ships). I'm in complete play mode right now (spent and hour this morning clearing out all the daily event tasks) as I want me more ships (though I'm going to have to drop more money on gems so I can expand my docks again).

Subs came out like 4 months ago or so. I generally don't do much with them unless it's an event as they can come into event missions with your fleets. I have quite a few of them (most of the SR ones) but honestly don't really understand their purpose currently (yes like I said I don't do much reading up on this).

Oh my god do I adore Laffy's Oath skin, so fucking adorable! It's about fucking time best girl got her oath skin. Kawakaze's Oath skin is also freaking adorable, so much so I had to go and oath her this morning (spending the last of my gems on it and now I can't afford Cleveland's New Years skin x.x ). I'd kill to get my hands on Ayanami's New Years skin, so fucking awesome looking (I have a thing for those kimono skins which is why I love the fact that most of the Sakura Empire oath skins are traditional wedding kimonos). Quite frankly I have only spent like $15 on gems since I started playing a year and a half ago (all for Laffy, I have every skin but one for her currently) because Yostar just hands them out like candy. Emergency maintenance? Here have 200 gems on us. Technical difficulties? Here's another 200 gems on us. We're feeling generous? Here's another 200 gems. Out of all the mobile games I've sunk time into Azur Lane's developers are real good about compensating us for anything unexpected and it's really a nice change of pace. Gotta say I love their micro-transaction model but it also makes it really hard to say no to buying shit when something I want pops up (I've done a really good job so far considering I also have two other games that fight for my money constantly (one of which wins more times then not)).

DPS queues are bad everywhere and it's not so much affected by lack of tanks and healers anymore, it's mostly because there's just to many fucking people playing DPS (I mean I get it, way easier to just do damage to an enemy but come on. Tanks are so much easier to play now that I'm thinking of actually switching to being a Tank main). I'm currently in the middle of leveling my Warrior and let me tell you it's not all great on the tank side. I've had, depending on the day, up to hour long queues due to the lack of fucking healers. Fucking ridiculous but I can't complain because when the tank queues pop quickly it's so fucking nice (I finished all my leveling queues in an hour and a half today, was very nice). It could also be your Data Center as well. I hear Primal queues are pretty fucking bad sometimes (not that Crystals are any better) due to the imbalance between healers/tanks and DPS. Considering your still in Heavensward content I'm not all that surprised either (I'm assuming this is where you're at based on the last bit of stuff you talked about). I rarely, if ever, see anything Heavensward related pop when I'm in queue for anything. Most of what I've been getting on my Warrior lately has been ARR and Stormblood content with the occasional Shadowbringers Trial/Dungeon (could be even worse on you Data Center depending on the population distribution between old and new players). I mean I'd love to help you out with my awesome tank queue times but they haven't mastered cross-data center queuing yet (I fucking love running old content with the exception of a few dungeons that I absolutely hate).

  24. I'm going to take a moment to say that out of all the games I've played throughout my time as a gamer Nier: Automata is probably one of the best games I've had the pleasure of playing in a very long time. By saying this I have just beaten it (well I beat it last night but I went through to get ending D today (I cheated so I didn't have to do the whole tower section again and reloaded at my save right before the final two fights). I'll most likely be redoing the whole Tower chapter again tomorrow so I can get D on my main save file so I can get ending E, the true ending. Wish me luck because I hear the final section to get E is a nightmare) and yes it took me forever but I'm glad it did. I've played many games that have great stories, great characters, great world building, great gameplay, and yes even great soundtracks (you'd be lying to yourself if you didn't think the OST for Nier was a major component of it) but none of them have ever encapsulated me this much (I say this having a complete obsession over the Suikoden series of games, by far my all time favorites when it comes to world building/story/characters).

I've never come to care for characters so much as I have with 2B, Pascal, and A2 (screw 9S, sorry to everyone that likes him but I do not like his character and don't get me started on actually having to use him in combat. Worst parts of the game for me even with his story being so damn good). Everything they go through and everything they experience from the minor gains to the major losses all resonated with me (and in some cases absolutely gutted me, I'm looking at you Pascal). I won't be ruining anything about their stories here or giving a major plot developments but DX will definitely understand where I'm coming from. You really grow attached to these characters in ways you don't notice until something major happens. Hell I've never been attached to a character as much as I am to 2B. Watching her grow throughout the entirety of her play through (and 9S's), watching as she struggles with the things she had to do before the events of this game, watching as she gradually opens up more to those around her, and watching her become more accepting of the new truths around her was amazing. Most main characters never get this treatment with all these minor nuances and most are lucky if they get the character growth she did. A2 is similar in a lot of ways but her growth comes a lot faster and it's harder to get really attached to her since you don't spend as much time with her (but damn do I love her sassy personality, her interactions with Pod 42 are gold). I really wish she'd of gotten more attention than she did (and you really don't even understand the depth of her backstory and character unless you read about the stage play Yoko Taro did that tells it (it's briefly mentioned in game but not much is said)). I won't get into Pascal other than he's a very well written character, lovable, and gets the shaft hard and it really sucks because he's so lovable.

Story wise it's really just your typical sci-fi plot and while good is nothing really to write home about as it's the characters that make this game so good (not trying to undermine it by any means but it's certainly not Tolkien levels of epic). It also pays, while not necessary, to have prior knowledge of both the original Nier's story and Drakengard's story as it actually helps you understand a lot of the what happened in the past to lead to where this game is at storyline wise (hell three of the NPC characters are directly from the original Nier). I'm really glad I went and read up on them before beating the game, it really helped me understand a lot of what I was seeing toward the end and helped elaborate on a bunch of the in-game text documents you find. Though it might be easier to get that backstory soon as rumor has it we might be getting a remake/remaster of the original Nier or maybe we'll get a brand new game.

The OST is where this game truly shines (so much so I bought it, a rarity for me as I usually don't buy game soundtracks (the only other exception being the Journey OST)). As I said above it's a major component of the game and a major factor behind why I love this game so much. Hell I can't even listen to Weight of the World anymore without getting teary eyed (such a great song, don't think I'll be able to do the Nier raid in FFXIV anymore with the music on. Might end up ugly crying (and they won't be manly tears)). It really sets up all the pieces quite well and adds a lot of the emotional undertone to the game.

As for gameplay I'm not the biggest hack and slash fan. Never really have been as I've always gravitated toward RPG's and Strategy games while only playing the occasional hack and slash (I mean before this my only real forays into the genre were the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors games) but I gotta say I really enjoyed the combat in Nier. After getting used to it (which did take awhile) I started to really enjoy dashing in, slashing like a mad man, evading when needed, and rotating in Pod Programs (I'm a big fan of Mirage, so OP with fully leveled weapons). Bosses are a blast as well if not somewhat annoying depending on which one you're fighting (I'm looking at you eyeball of death). My only two complaints about combat are the Pods (outside of programs they're practically useless (and I say this knowing full well how many times the missile pod saved my ass)) and the 9S hacking mini-game (god was this one of the most annoying parts of the game for me and it sucks that its so fucking powerful. I just hate the randomness of what you'll get every time you hack into an enemy).

I really don't know what else I can say about this other than I finally understand why everyone has been praising it since it came out, it really is that good. I can't recommend this game enough and it's definitely worth the money (I only wish I'd of waited on buying it until they released the Game of the YoRHa Edition so I could get that damn dynamic theme and avatars). I also need to thank Platinum Games for making it and Yoko Taro for creating such a wonderful world (he's a mad lad and I love it, I really hope we're getting a remake/remaster of Nier or another Nier game in the future as this man needs to be at the helm again). This truly has been one of my best gaming experiences in a long time (outside of Detroit, which is still a masterpiece imo).

Now to move on to other games finally. Maybe now I can finally get Horizon beaten or maybe not as I did get Pokemon Sword for Christmas and that will probably eat up my free time until Cyberpunk (hey don't judge me, I actually still like the Pokemon franchise and this one, from what little I've played, is really fun and I'm liking a lot of the new editions to the main game play loop).

      XD

You can still fight without ammo but you do so at reduced damage output and increased damage taken. It's not ideal but it's the only way to 3 star some of the missions (I usually do it with my 2nd fleet since my cruisers are armed with AP weapons and the reduced damage output means little to AP weaponry, I save my 1st fleet to take out the flagship). This is even more true for event based missions as quite a few of them have 11+ enemies to destroy without an ammo depot.

A lot of ships synergize. The only reason I wanted Akagi so badly is because her and Kaga have abilities that are affected by having the other in the same fleet. Hell Mikasa boosts all Sakura Empire ships in the fleet if shes the flagship and Amagi literally weakens the enemy as long as she still floats and gets decreased loading time for her first barrage as long as there are 4 other Sakura ships. Never knew Belfast got that powerful though with Elizabeth, will definitely have to put both of them together (I don't read any guides, I've been winging it since day 1 so a lot of my knowledge is just from trial and error (I've recently started looking up shit since I want to be able to take on Ex missions)).

As I said before I only put time into this during events otherwise my general play time is just restocking the dorm (changing out girls as needed), making sure I get my free meowfficer box and training it every day, engaging the cheapest research, and occasionally blowing gold on Tech boxes. Very rarely do I do anything else of note unless I get really bored at work on lunch. I play quite a few other mobile games and a few just like Azur Lane so I try to keep things efficient and not stay in one to long unless I have to.
