  1. Fucking hell that was a ride. Just finished watching Steins;Gate and I have to say its an amazing show. I finally understand why people love it so much. Characters are pretty interesting (pretty bland and stereotypical but none-the-less interesting), story is completely bonkers (we're talking Serial Experiments Lain and Boogiepop Phantom levels of bonkers) and amazing, and the sheer emotional ride this puts you through is both terrifying and exciting.

Sure it starts out pretty slow but once you get to the halfway mark it seriously starts moving at an intense pace. I normally don't praise anime this much but this is truly a great show, almost a masterpiece if I've ever seen one (probably one of the only shows I have rated at 10 on MAL that actually deserves the rating for all the right reasons, not just pure enjoyment). I highly recommend watching it if you haven't, it's definitely worth the time investment (and I'll admit it's not for everyone but if you want a show that tears your emotions to shreds and makes you think this is definitely one for you).

Seriously can't wait for Steins;Gate 0 to start airing on Thursday (really hope CR has the simulcast for it). Now I just need to find time to watch the movie and the OVA before it starts. Also need to hope the VN this is based off of goes on sale on Steam so I can see the actual story that wasn't adapted for the anime (and to see all the other endings).

0 is going to be a wild ride as well if the first episode is any indication so I'm really looking forward to whats to come. Besides FMP and Amanchu it's the only thing I'm excited to watch this season. Don't know if you were able to watch it (I don't know what Funi has posted, CR doesn't have the OVA/Movie/or the ep I'll talk about (had to dl all of them)) but you should see if you can watch the alternate version of episode 23 as it sets up 0 (nothing really different until the last 10 minutes) and will give you a good idea of where the story will be headed.

The movie is a fun little romp, not as good as the actual series but it ends the Steins;Gate perfect ending (which is what they adapted) nicely and takes place right after the OVA (don't know if Funi has it on their service, I know they have the license for it though).

  2. Just finished season 1 of Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans. I enjoyed it, but man I can't help but notice the parallels with Gundam Wing. A young female working for peace, a semi-emotionless male pilot, an antagonist that disguises himself with a mask in a red mobile suit? XD Eh, maybe I'm looking too much into it, there are more differences than similarities. Since CN has the broadcast rights, I hope Funi eventually gets season 2 on stream... its the only Gundam they have. I will say I'm not the biggest fan of the designs on this one. I liked Gusion and EB-AX2, but that was about it.

Was going to say you could always watch the sub on CR but I know you prefer to watch your dubs, why I'll never know (I mean subs are far superior (j/k)).

Just wait till you see Barbatos's upgrade, that suit is beyond amazing looking (it gets two upgrades in S2, last one is fucking amazing and beyond deadly). Funi has the S2 license but as you said they probably won't stream it until CN is done airing it (which is retarded but meh, CN be greedy). I might end up actually buying it once S2 is released on BD that's how much I enjoyed the show. Not entirely happy by how it ended (I mean I saw it coming a mile away as it's pretty much spelled out throughout the entirety of S2) but I'm generally never happy by how shows end (Gundam shows in particular).

Except for the whole fact IBO is gorey as fuck and deals with child soldiers it mirrors Wing perfectly :P

IBO is pretty fucking good. The end fight (of S2) is pretty fucking epic. Probably my third favorite AU Gundam after X and Turn A.

Besides the Barbatos I can't stand the designs of the Gundams, they're either bulky as fuck or underdesigned.

It eventually goes somewhere and that slow buildup doesn't really help it any in the beginning but its definitely worth slogging through those first few episodes to get to the good stuff (I won't lie I did almost drop it around episode 4 (Okabe's personality rubbed me the wrong way (as much as I find it funny it was infuriating)) but things start moving around that time and amp up at episode 12). The craziness doesn't ever really go away but it gets seriously toned down after shit starts hitting the fan (its really hard to sell this without leaking any of the plot, you'll just have to take my word for it).

  5. I caught up on Overlord's season 2 simuldub. So far it's entertaining but all over the place. There isn't as much action so far which is disappointing. All these characters are so OP, but that was what was great about season 1. Especially since Ainz vs. Shalltear was an amazing finale with two ultra OP characters going at it like a chess game. However I figure everything happening now is leading up to something bigger. They're spending more time world building in season 2 in which they did very little of in season 1. Plus season 3 was ordered. People can say what they want about Funi, but I bet there are some series out there that would have never been renewed past it's first season 6-8 years ago. Props to netflix too even though their series are hit and miss. I finished A.I.C.O. Incarnation last night, while it didn't blow me away, I enjoyed it.. same goes for ID-0. It's come a long way from Toonami, spending days downloading stuff off Limewire and torrents, or staying up til 4am in hopes Sci-Fi played Akira or Vampire Hunter D

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Overlord was pretty much saved by the fans and Funi (was extremely happy to see it was green lit for a 3rd season). Season 2 has been hit or miss (still haven't watched ep 13 yet (see CR just put it up), I'll watch it Friday night when I continue watching Steins;Gate) but considering what they're building toward shit will get interesting next season (yea, I read ahead on the wiki for it so I already know whats going to happen). Plus seeing Sebas kick some serious ass has been a high point for me this season (and seeing Cocytus wipe the floor with those lizard people was fucking awesome). I still miss the action of season 1 but this has been a fun trip so far plus it's nice to see them do some character building, I felt last season didn't really introduce the character well enough (well the human ones, though I do wish they'd go into who Victim is a little more then they have. Based on what the wiki says he's the most powerful NPC in Nazerick with the exception of one that has yet to be introduced).

I haven't given anything on Netflix the time of day considering most of what they're producing just doesn't interest me. I give them props for giving original anime a shot but they all pretty much follow the same formula. Shit I still download shit thought I will admit I do a lot less then I did 3 years ago, Crunchyroll has spoiled me too much with all they're getting recently (I'm like a kid in a candy store with all the shit they're getting licenses for).

  6. So total gut punch this week. The company I've worked for for almost 17 years of my life is closing the store I work at after filing bankruptcy. The lease is up on our building, and despite being probably the 4th best grossing store in the district, we're all out of a job by next month. And they couldn't have done a shittier job of letting anyone know. They just stopped shipping our dry grocery and perishable orders 2 days before they told us, and blamed it on "transmission errors".

But Luckily I have some solid connections and already lined up a job at Publix, which I feel is the future and should have jumped ship a few years ago. I was too complacent with my tenure and vacation time. But I'm only losing around $1.48 an hour just to throw stock full time and not be a manager. That's how much better they pay. Hopefully I'll be working different hours to where I can play games with everyone again. But for now its peace of mind since I just bought a new car.

I thought it was pretty much confirmed that BF5 was WWII, could be wrong but I thought I read that somewhere. All I know is a lot of people have been talking about it and a good portion have been complaining wanting it to go back to Modern times.

I would assume if they do go WWII we'll get all the major campaigns as Operations if they stick to using that game mode. I'd seriously love one set during the Battle of the Bulge, fuck I'd be extremely giddy if we got one set on Iwo Jima (god damn that would be punishing and fucking fun). They'd be extremely stupid not to include all of the campaigns because they'd have plenty of content to keep the game alive for longer than two years (and I'd gladly shell money out for them if they decide to go with the Premium pass shit again (doubt it but we'll see), as long as they're done right).

Wal-Mart has pretty much killed most of their competition everywhere they go. If you're not a well know Grocery chain chances are high you'll succumb to the best that is Wal-Mart. Where I live currently you have three choices: Cash Wise (a Minnesota based grocery store owned by Coborn's Inc (where I used to work before I was fired)), Family Fare (didn't even know they existed till they bought out a local chain), and Wal-Mart. It's sad to say but Wal-Mart gets 90% of all business in this town because they're prices are so much lower than the other two (and, based on how things are going, Family Fare will most likely end up shutting down it's other two stores in town because Cash Wise took most of the business they got away from them). I also agree with DX's statement, most grocery chain buyouts end horribly for the company getting bought out.

  7. Finally got around to seeing Thor: Ragnarok (just finished in fact). Gotta say it was a really good movie, really enjoyed where they went with it and thought it was a downright blast.

Good amount of comedy (I thought it was a nice direction considering what we'll be getting in a little over a month), nice action sequences, and seeing Thor get the snot kicked out of him by Hulk was pretty damn funny. Was also nice to see Thor actually use his damn powers for once (the bridge fight was pretty fucking epic). If I didn't love the first Guardians as much as I do I'd say this would probably be my favorite Marvel movie (considering how much I hated the first two Thor movies that's pretty high praise from me).

Well damn at least you already have another job lined up. Shit only loosing a $1.48 is pretty good to go from a manager to a stock thrower, you'd loose a whole hell of a lot more in the stores in my area for that.

Here's to hoping we can start gaming again, I miss our old BF1 antics (just need to find another game we can all play together).

  11. Tried the Monster Hunter Wold beta after the guys I played Destiny with kept hyping it up... eh. Its not for me. The controls are funky, and the explanation of what I was suppose to be doing wasn't very good. I just beat down a monster until it died? I thought I was suppose to be capturing it? I was expecting a finishing move prompt, or a QTE, for a death blow, but it just seemed anti-climatic. Then it sent me to the "Coming Jan 2018, would you like to Pre-Order?" in which I said no and got sent back to the main menu. At this point I knew I wasn't going to try the more difficult quests if I have to go through all that each time, rather staying in the game world and picking another quest that way. I never played a Monster Hunter game before, I always thought they looked neat, but playing it myself left me uninspired.

    1. Strider Hiryu

I went straight for the Training Hall (it's like the third option on the list) when I loaded it up. I tried out almost all the melee weapons before I was even confident enough to do the first hunt (though all you attack is barrels, they don't let you practice against actual monsters). Sadly I used a weapon that I didn't try out in the Training Hall, the Feather Blade. Luckily it was extremely easy to figure out (though I'm still a little foggy on the whole summon insects to attack thing). Believe me though the combos are pretty much smash Triangle, hit Circle when needed (depending on weapon type), hit X to dodge, and R2 to switch modes/use special attacks (again depending on weapon, some weapons change what they are with R2).

      Strider Hiryu

Meh, it's not bad. This was my first time I played a Monster Hunter game as well and honestly I was just as confused as you probably were. They need to do a better job of explaining how to do shit in the game because if you don't go into the training hall before hand it's kind of difficult to understand combat controls and how to string combos together for each weapon. They could of done a better job with this beta if you ask me but I might still check out the retail version when it comes out (mostly due to my co-worker).

Then again I'm also thinking of trying out Dauntless, which seems to be a lot easier to pick up and understand compared to MH. I've seen a lot of gameplay and I'm honestly impressed (outside of the bugs that were plaguing it in Alpha, I haven't seen much of the Closed Beta yet). The only real thing that bugs me about Dauntless is the cartoony art style it has.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I figured but I still, personally, don't think BoTW deserves game of the year. Not only is it a safe title for Nintendo it's not even an original IP. If anything Horizon deserved GotY but then again it didn't even stand a chance which saddens me because it's a brilliantly designed game with an amazing soundtrack and story. Damn Nintendo fanboys (I'm j/k btw, I've seen the entirety of BoTW with the exception of the ending and even I admit it's a well designed game and one Nintendo knocked out of the park but sadly since it's Zelda it was guaranteed the GotY award because of nostalgia. No other game ever stood a chance).

I haven't used it enough yet to notice any difference but one positive is it doesn't crash constantly like the old update did. 15. PSN is having a sale. I picked up the latest TWD telltale game and BF1 premium is finally on sale for $25. I got that to. I'll be playing some more bf1 over the next couple weeks. Some footage from the newest dlc is looking pretty good.

I still need to get on and play the new DLC. I got to try out some of the maps prior to its release because of Premium but never did get around to actually playing them now (I'm not looking forward to seeing the unlock requirements for the new guns though I want to get me hands on the Federov, makes medics extremely op now).

  16. Finally got around to watching Black Mirror since, you know, I'm bored because I can't work (and as much as I try I just can't bring myself to play anything game wise outside of FFXIV and a little bit of Destiny (I'm stuck at 267 and have no urge to do the Exotic quests and I really don't want to level another character right now)).

Gotta say this is definitely one of my favorite shows now. Really love how they're stand alone episodes that have no interconnection with each other (well they seem to all take place in the same year and same world (based on little hints I picked up in various episodes) but they're completely separate stories of their own). Some of the episode are really fucked up (the last episode of season 3, while not fucked up, is pretty fucking dark and has given rise to a new fear for me (saying what it is will ruin it if you haven't seen it), still one of my favorite episodes though) and some are really well thought out and emotional (the San Junipero episode is really fucking good).

All around it's a great fucking series (better be it's British, yeah I have a thing for British television) and I highly recommend it. Figured I'd start Stranger Things this weekend since it sounds like I'll be out of work for another week (according to my surgeon's nurse when I talked to her on the phone, I'll find out more tomorrow) and be ready for when season 2 airs in Oct.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Yea, I'll be watching Stranger Things starting Sunday since I'm out of work until the 9th now. Nah, I don't have Amazon Prime ($100 a year is a lot to pay when I rarely order anything from Amazon (besides the occasional CD but I've gone almost completely digital with music so I buy mostly digital albums now), not to mention how many other subscriptions/services I pay for (subbed to two MMO's, subbed to two Twitch streamers, CR sub, Netflix sub, and a PSN sub)) but I've heard of Orphen Black. I'd really like to see it but tis the joy of everyone having their own fucking streaming service now instead of consolidating it in one place like it used to be (I really miss the days when Netflix was the only sub service).

I highly recommend Black Mirror though I suggest you don't binge watch it. If you really want to go ahead but I suggest enjoying the series and drawing it out as long as you can (it's only 13 episodes for 3 seasons with 6 more on the way sometime this year), give yourself time between episodes to dwell and think about the episode(s) watched and think about the message being said. I watched two episodes a day up until S3 when I did 3 eps a day (really wish I would of just watched 2 a day to draw it out longer). My only real complaint is how short the series is currently but then again I should be used to it based on how many British series I've watched. Really hoping they do a season 5 after 4 is finished.

  17. My mattress has been killing my back and sides for over a year now. I kept adjusting how I was sleeping, got a mattress pad, etc. Screw this thing. I bought a mattress in a box from walmart.com for cheap. $140. I thought about getting a memory foam one but I read that they trap heat too easily so I went with a Slumber 1 brand coil spring.

Sure as hell this mattress showed up in a box. It was vacummed sealed in a bag, folded and rolled up. When I broke that plastic seal it inflated so damn fast that it made a whistling noise thru the plastic bag as I was cutting it open. lol. It feels pretty comfortable so far but I have to let it air out for "full recovery" for 48 hours. I'd have rather gotten an expensive really nice beauty rest mattress or something else from a mattress store, but I'm tight on funds. This seems decent enough for now.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Fuck my old mattress was fucking amazing, sadly it went to hell in about 5 years (I spend a lot of time in my room since it's where everything of mine is located so you can about imagine how much time I spend on my bed (between gaming, watching anime/movies, reading, and up until recently playing games on the laptop)). Only mattress I was able to sleep soundly on (and it was only $500 or so) but I had to get rid of it two years ago because it was really starting to kill my back. My current one isn't bad (I went a little firmer than my old one, still comfy and still a pillow top but it's not the same) but I'd kill to get another mattress like my old one (don't remember what brand it was and we don't have similar mattress places like the one in Arizona where I bought it).

I'd really love one of those Sealy mattresses but fuck are they expensive. One of these days I'll have one

  18. Well yesterday was fun. Had really bad abdominal pain and ended up in the ER only to find out I had acute appendicitis and had to have surgery (all in all spent 10 hours in the ER, got home at 4:30 this morning). Now I'm in pain and out of work for at least a week. At least I get Vicadin as my pain killer (whenever my mother pucks the prescription up, I can't drive for the next week so yea).

Guess it's time to get caught up on my anime and game backlogs.

Heh, I sleep with a pillow between my legs/knees as well. It's really good for managing back pain if you suffer from it as it keeps your spine straighter (and it's actually a lot more comfortable too, my knees used to hurt in the morning when I didn't use one. Now they don't). Sadly my back has been killing me over the last few days since I can't sleep like I normally do (this inclined sleeping fucking sucks. Hopefully tomorrow night I'll be able so sleep normally again (pain is mostly gone so lying on my left side shouldn't be a problem, right side will still be an issue for awhile)).

Honestly I haven't found anything that works for side sleeping pillow wise. I've always preferred softer pillows over firm ones because firm ones generally give me headaches if I lay my head on them to long. Currently I sleep with three pillows on the bed (when I sleep normally, considering I can't sleep on my side atm I've been sleeping at an incline with a shit ton of pillows stacked behind me (sucks because it's extremely uncomfortable but I'm sleeping a lot better then I ever have)) one of which is mid-range softness (main pillow), one that's firm, and one that's extremely soft. I tend to favor my left side over my right so the softer pillow is on the left side to support the main pillow when I sleep on said side (I use my left arm as extra support, oddly enough it has not caused any issues as of yet). The firmer support pillow is on the right side and is the only support I use when sleeping on my right side (for some reason using my right arm as support doesn't work so well so I don't). It's an odd sleeping arrangement but it's the only thing that was working over the last few years.

Not since I got hired at my job last year. Besides my high blood pressure and being slightly overweight I was told I was in good health. Was told that Wednesday night at the ER as well which is funny because considering my sedentary lifestyle you'd think I'd be a lot less healthier than I am (then again I do work a pretty physically intensive job and I do try and watch what I eat (though my diet wouldn't be considered exactly healthy)). Meh, I think a lot of it has to do with how I sleep. I normally don't sleep on my back which is how they had me in the OR so I think that has a lot to do with it (I have a bad back from not using proper lifting techniques at work when I was still in retail so sleeping on my back ends up with me having back pain the next day). Normally I'm a side sleeper and this is the first time I've ever been told I had sleep apnea with all of the times I've been put under. That or its just old age starting to creep in, meh hopefully this can be fixed without having to wear the mask but I won't know until I get sleep study done.

Now I'm in pain and out of work for at least a week. At least I get Vicadin as my pain killer (whenever my mother pucks the prescription up, I can't drive for the next week so yea).

Guess it's time to get caught up on my anime and game backlogs.

Yea I remember that and can only imagine the pain he went through. This shit is no joke and I'm glad I caught in when I did, the surgeon said it probably would of burst had I waited any longer. It's just funny how I was perfectly fine that morning (I've been sick all week so I wasn't 100% ok but I didn't have pain), went to work and about 5 hours in I just felt a stabbing pain in my side. Honestly had my mother not convinced me to go I probably wouldn't have and waited until shit got worse. I should watch House, take lessons and the proper way to pop Vicadin XD

Ouch is an understatement DX >.>

Also found out I have Sleep Apnea (one of the worst cases my surgeon and nurses have seen apparently) as well which means I get to go back to the doctor for confirmation testing some time soon (yay, because I oh so love spending the night at the hospital). Man when shit hits the fan with me it hits hard.

  22. Got a Galaxy S8+ today. So far I like it a lot. My other phone had too many issues in the end, and it all probably has to do with being an unlocked phone. I know these companies alter the software on their devices to run more smoothly with their networks while at the same time forcing you to buy from them. 15 years ago it wasn't that way. But with how complex the software has become, its pretty easy to fix the system in your favor. When the rep tried to look up my phone for trade in value it has none. XD He was so confused himself.

Good choice in phone, got mine a little over a month ago and love it (though I'd of rather had a Note).

  23. I finished LoTR: The Fellowship of the Ring yesterday. Great novel, but if I ever read it again I'll skip the first 150 pages of hobbit only adventures. lol. After that chunk the book turned out to be great. And the fan theory about Gandalf telling them "fly you fools" as in get to the eagles is debunked to me. Theory:

In the novel the word 'fly' was used as the word run in multiple instances. It was just the writing style. I'm glad they kept that scene like that in the movie, but Gandalf had no secret meaning when he said that. He was simply telling them to run for their f*cking lives or they'd all die in Moria.

All I have to say is Tom, you know what I mean (it's the only part of Fellowship I actually enjoyed outside of Moria, I really wish they would of put him in the movie). Everything else before the Council meeting could pretty much be left out (I could care less about how many meals a Hobbit has in a day or how a proper Hobbit should live). Don't get me wrong I love Tolkien's work and I love how he crafted an entire world in just 3 books (technically LotR is one book just split in three) but seriously I don't need all this set-up just for it not to mean a damn thing in the next two novels (as much as I love the Ents they're probably the only real downside to The Two Towers (though they do redeem themselves).

I honestly can't believe people actually thought that. "Fly" has more than one meaning, get a fucking dictionary people. The context it's said in is a dead giveaway as to what he meant because how the fuck do you fly out of a mine (with a Balrog on your ass at that). As much as Tolkien is great at alluding to certain things in his books there is no denying he meant "run for your fucking lives" and not "fly on the backs of eagles". Nerds will never cease to amaze me (yes I say that knowing full well I am one).

  24. Battlefield 1 premium is on sale for $29.99 for pc but it's still full price for console players. No thanks EA. I'll just hold onto my money then. 😬

Usually how it goes as the PC base is pretty non-existent right now (they suffer more from this paywall then us console players do as console players are more apt to buying the Season Pass then PC players (you know since the PC master race thinks they should get everything for free (I in no way believe we shouldn't but they never fully adopted the season pass mentality that we have)). It'll see a resurgence in a week or two when In the Name of the Tsar goes live next month (which I'm kinda looking forward too, some of the maps look fun). The only downside to playing with a friend is you don't get any unlocks or xp for playing DLC maps (the only downside to the system), you just get to experience the map and not the weapons (unless you get lucky to pick one up from a dead enemy).
