  1. This simuldub season is pretty meh compared to last. If it wasn't for the fact that MHA and out of all things; Black Clover was still running. I'd be hard pressed to keep up. Ep 1 of Overlord season 3 felt like a waste of time, but the second one made things pretty interesting. Angels of Death seems kind of bland so far. How not to Summon a Demon Lord is a typical fanservice trapped in a video game world show. Same goes for The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar. Lord of Vermilion feels like a better Tokyo Majin.. which isn't saying much. Hopefully it will be something better. Harukana Receive is bouncy bikini beach volley ball, but Haruka is a total best girl, so I'll shamelessly enjoy it. XD On the opposite end, I'll skip Free! because I'm not watching a bunch of dudes swim, and I'm already watching HR and Hanebado... an anime about freakin Badminton. With Dies Irae and AoT not staring until later in the month that leaves three unlikely contenders for a surprise best in season for me, that isn't Overlord or AoT which I already expect to be solid at worst.

Magical Girl Raising Project is apparently a dark ass violent series with cute moe magic girls. XD A total clash of genres. The first two eps only have brief hints at it so far, its mostly just cutesy. But if it turns out like I think it has the potential too. It should be pretty interesting.

Chio's School Road is a "school" anime thats about Chio's walk to school every day, instead of the actual school day. The absolute absurd happens apparently every time. The first three eps have been pretty hysterical so far. Its different, so I like it.

Island is a pretty big mystery to me as to what its suppose to be about. It has my interest to see how it unfolds. It can honestly go either way. I guess I'll be reviewing these at the end of the season and we'll see how my opinions have changed since this status update.

SG0 has the same number of eps as SG so it'll end in little over a month if they don't take breaks (episode 18 is the newest).

They're doing it the same way they did the books. Each arc is an adaptation of one book though by the sounds of it the current arc was book 8 so they skipped book 7 (which a lot of people are pissed about) and everyone is worried that now we only have 8 episodes to adapt books 7 and 9 for this season (which may or may not be enough episodes). Plus the way they were going we were in for some major story developments (we still are if they do the next 8 episodes right) but I think they're banking on getting a S4 so they're drawing shit out they don't need to (the feeling I've been getting with MHA but at least MHA is guaranteed a 4th season with how popular it is (I mean fuck it's getting an original movie that has nothing to do with the manga)).

Overlord has been pretty meh so far, thankfully the current arc ended with episode 5 (the most current on CR). I'm all for world building but honestly these side stories are becoming a little to much for me (I know they're part of the books but I want more Ainz action). I won't go any further as it will ruin the character development but it was honestly unnecessary to show this.

If it wasn't for Overlord I wouldn't be watching any of the new shows this season considering none have seemed interesting to me. My Hero and Steins:Gate 0 are the only currently airing shows I'm watching (and boy has Steins taken a turn for the extremely interesting as of the last episode. MHA is really dragging out this current arc so I'm not entirely sure how this season is going to end, my current prediction might not actually happen until the next, hopefully, season).

  3. Spoiler Alert for Iron Blooded Orphans. Funi put up the rest of season 2. Seriously fuck off... it's been a while since I've so mad about a character death. The way they killed Lafter was gut wrenching. I though Biscuit's death was bad, but fuck that was so fucked up. :(

Heh, good god how the time flies and boy has the anime forum mentality sure evolved (well depending on where you go. The MAL forums could be pretty toxic back when they were still up).

Yea, Orga's death more or less felt forced for plot sake. I understand why they took that method (I mean leader of Tekkadan, master of Mikazuki and the Barbatos, and what have you) but it wasn't exactly necessary (even if it did rile Mikazuki up and force the final battle). McGillis, while I admire what he was after, went about it in the worst possible way (ala Zechs in GW) and caused so much unneeded death.

That was a great moment. The lack of care Mikazuki shows while in battle is amazing. "Oh you want a fair fight, no dice" *proceeds to dash in and murder everyone* This is why he's one of my favorite characters from the show. Yea, he's pretty much emotionless outside of talking to those who he cares about but he is probably one of the best pilots in any Gundam show based purely on instinct alone.

If it doesn't show already my favorite mech is the Barbatos Lupus Rex, such a finely tuned piece of machinery (not to mention it literally took 7 Dainsleifs to finally bring him down to Julieta's level of fighting (though he was practically dead at that point) and he still took out most of her soldiers before she "won").

Yea it's pretty much non-stop after Lafter's death. That end fight will go down as one of my absolute favorite mech battles ever (taking second only to the amazing battle sequence at the end of Gurren Lagann Movie 2). Mikazuki and the Barbatos are fucking beasts, not to mention Akihiro's gar moment.

I was happy with season 2 overall. I think they did a much better job of conveying the story they were trying to tell. Season 1 was good but the amount of plot development not to mention drama in Season 2 makes it so much better. There were a few parts I didn't like or feel like they weren't needed/could of been portrayed better but overall a solid show. Why IBO gets so much hate from Gundam fans I'll never know. I'm probably one of the biggest and hardcore UC fans out there and I loved IBO.

XD, I feel so sorry this part of this movie keeps getting reused for this (it's such a good movie to) but this is fucking hilarious (at least Hitler was a Zeon supporter XD)

Oh, there is one more death you may or may not be happy with and it is a murder but that's all I'll say.

Get used to it, the deaths don't stop there (it's only the start of a long road of turmoil and death).

Yea, Lafter's death was a gut punch especially considering the character development she got throughout S2 to that point (and after she realized her true feelings for Akihiro). Doesn't help that she was one of my favorite characters either.

It's a great turning point for Akihiro's character though (even if it does make him a little more taciturn than normal), especially toward the end of the series.

  7. So I finished watching the first season of My Hero Academia tonight and you were right DX I absolutely love the show. I think most of that has to do with my absolute adoration for All Might but I could be wrong (but I'm sure I'm not, you can't hate the man he's just fucking perfect).

Gotta say for a shounen series it certainly has a lot going for it. Great humor, awesome character development and characters , a good story (I only say good for now as it's only S1 that I've finished, I hear it gets a lot better), and a pretty kick ass soundtrack. Not going to say I don't have any problems with the show (it suffers from some of the things I hate about shounen series) but those are greatly overshadowed by everything I said before.

I'm honestly looking forward to starting S2 tomorrow (thank god I'm on vacation) and hopefully starting S3 before I go back to work (if I don't get lost in the myriad of other things I have to do this week).

Bah, now I feel lost. Finally got caught up to current and I'm sad because I can't just watch 5-6 episodes a night anymore. Been a long time since I've had this feeling while watching an anime.

Man that fight between All Might and All for One was spectacular. Such an intense two episodes (not to mention the whole training camp). God damn I'm glad I picked this up. Now I'm just curious about how they'll end season 3 (I really hate my inability to just be surprised, all the possibilities they can use (though I hope they go with what I'm predicting, will make Season 4 even better if they do)).

The constant action and focus on continuing the story has been rather refreshing and the nice little 2-3 ep bridge episodes are rather nice (and very informative). Finally a shounen series with no filler (my god I think the world might end).

Yeah my friend warned me (and I already knew) that shit gets pretty intense at the start of season 3. I decided to hold off starting it until tomorrow because it will only take me 3 days to get to current (ep 53 as of yesterday/tonight) and then I can switch this to my normal Saturday night shows (when I sit down to watch Steins:Gate and Overlord) and I can finally finish re-watching Mai-Hime.

Finished Season 2 tonight and by god was it amazing. While I agree with you that the middle arc should of been the last arc it's understandable why it's set up the way it is (considering what's coming (yea I haven't watched that far ahead but I already know whats going to happen (damn my curiosity and my friends inability to keep his mouth shut))).

By far the middle arc has been not only an amazing area of plot and character development but by god was it gruesome. Considering the light hearted and battle focused sports fest and the action packed final exam (which has cemented my hatred for Bakugo even more (I get where he's coming from but his character just rubs me the wrong way)) it's kinda surprising they'd throw such a dark arc in the middle of all that. Might I also add I simply love Gran Torino (and the fear he inspires in All Might) and I have a much better understanding and have actually started liking Todoroki.

I have to say I'm amazed how much this show has grown on me (much like Gurren Lagann). Like I said before I generally hate shounen series and I'm not a huge fan (you could almost say I hate) superhero (which lets admit this is what they are) related media but for some reason this show is just great. Definitely one of my favorite series. While I know it's not done airing I can't wait to start watching Season 3 and get caught up to current.

No shit is he a badass. The way he fucked up all those Villans at USJ was fucking amazing (especially for what type of Hero he is). I still don't like him personally (his personality rubs me the wrong way which is odd because his type of character is the one I usually like) but the man can hold his own in a fight and it's obvious he cares about his students if he was willing to go that far to protect them.

I'll admit if it wasn't for All Might I probably wouldn't of continued on with the show after the first episode. His sense of humor, extreme sense of justice, and his personality when he's in his normal form is what drew me in. Plus his absolute care and devotion to Izuku (and his other students as well) as he comes to terms with his Quirk and learns to use it is amazing. Not to mention his complete bad ass fight at USJ. All Might is the pure personification of heroism, a truly selfless hero that is willing to sacrifice himself if it means saving the world. It's the reason he's idolized and called the "Symbol of Peace".

  11. Ordered some Corsair Void Pro headphones for Prime Day. I've been putting off a new headset for PC for way too long. I have my cord duct taped and wires are coming out of the ear pieces. XD Its hard to give this headset up because its lasted me 15-16 years. Its just some cheap ass standard Microsoft headphones i bought at target years and years ago. The ear cushions look like cloth because the fake leather coating all fell off or deteriorated. Even with all the wires falling apart, it still works without a hitch. I don't really need turtles for PC, but the Corsair's were on a pretty decent discount, so I went with it.

Nice, I bought a pair of SteelSeries Arctis 3's last year on Black Friday because my old Logitech ones I bought with my laptop had gone to shit. Never really been much into headsets (I always used ear buds back in the day) but I adore my Arctis 3's, much better audio quality then my old ones.

  12. If there is one thing I despise about anime across all genres, its the damn "recap X.5" episode. Nothing makes me cringe more when I load up my funi app only to see this week is a waste of time for one of the shows I watch. I was really irritated that FMP had one after just 4 episodes, and Legend of Galactic Heroes has one this week. Seriously, what a waste of effort and time. Even if I missed episodes, I'd rather go back and see the whole ep rather that get caught up on some clips from it mashed in with everything I've already seen.

On another note, My Hero Academia was freaking amazing this week. Any ep where All Might fights is seriously some of the best content of the series.

And then Steins;Gate 0 just gut punched us in the feels this week with Okabe shortly going back to an alpha world line... oh the feels. The emotional level of this series is brutal. It's been a while since I've felt this much empathy for a character.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Probably because something big goes down in episode 8 and they wanted to give us more time to process it. That or they're just trying to draw this out longer to get more viewers/get ratings higher(it's obvious they won't get where they want to in 12-13 eps, probably hoping to get a second/fifth season greenlit). Either way it's pissing me off, just when shit starts getting good they fucking cock block us with a recap episode.

  14. This has got to be Destiny's last run. Twice expecting people to pay for a Y2 overhaul can't be sustainable. I don't regret my purchase of D2 because I did get a lot of fun out of it. Bungie just has no idea how to balance a game to appease hard core and causal players. They've reverted the game to get max progression via raids again so I'll probably never play since my clan died off months ago. They either give it all to you easily or make grueling time gates and obnoxiously low drop rates. Like there is no in between here? Now they have some new $100 million dollar deal for a new IP which makes me think they are giving up on Destiny. With even COD ditching the MP season pass, the days of paid DLC are going away and yet Bungie is trying to milk two season passes out of each game. Meanwhile Overwatch is still healthy after 2 years.. match queues are pretty much the same as they were 6 months after launch. No DLC, free heroes and maps, along with constant rebalancing and hero reworks for underpowered characters. I REALLY hope Battlefield V gets this level of support for 2 years until the next main BF game comes out. I'm getting a bad vibe that the launch game will only have like 5 maps or some BS "because Tides of War". Yeah we get it, we'll progres along with WW2, but give us the same amount of maps every launch title has had. Hopefully The Division 2 comes out swinging from lessons learned unlike Bungie. The Division is in a good state right now and if they can release it with all the content this last free patch had, they'll be good to go. Really I just want games to be successes again, I want to stress over what to play instead of waiting for something that's hopefully worth my time. I hope Anthem is amazing for BioWare's sake, and I hope Borderlands 3 is going to be amazing as well.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

It saddens me that Bungie thinks they can get away with this shit. I mean the expansion looks good (Bladedance making a comeback?) but honestly it's not worth the price tag (especially considering I would need to drop money to get get Curse and Warmind just to play it) or the disappointment tied to it once it's apparent they'll only deliver on half the promises they made. It's baffling how people still give this company money (and how many still praise how great D2 is, even after all the bullshit they've pulled).

Honestly as long as BFV is half of what they're talking about I'll be happy (even if it's only 5 maps but I doubt it, DICE has never really screwed us that badly. Their bosses on the other hand are another story). I won't hold my breath for The Division 2. Outside of R6S Ubisoft has done nothing to make me think it'll be any better than The Division (a game that still hasn't had any story progression beyond how it ended). True the game is in a better place but how long did it take? Are you really ready to invest money into a game that will probably have the same start as the first one? I'm not and unless I'm impressed by what I see once it releases I probably won't (don't get me wrong, I liked The Division for what it was. The story was good and the game play was solid but it just got so tedious without a group to play with. Plus after a while the grind for better gear got boring and wasn't as rewarding as it is in other games (I don't mind grinding gear but I hate grinding when the chances are slim to none that I'll get anything good (I mean come on I still play FFXIV, a game designed to be a grind and I fucking love it because I always feel like I'm working for something tangible))).

Anthem is BioWare's swan song. It better be good because if it isn't we might not see BioWare for much longer. I really hope it's everything they promise it to be but I'm tempering my expectations. I refuse to get hyped by all the youtubers making video's about it or to get hyped in general. I want tangible proof this game is worth my money and that won't come until we get game play footage and actual news worth getting hyped about. Gaming is leaving nothing but a bad taste in my mouth as of late and games as good as Detroit are becoming few and far between (which as a lovely surprise by how good the game actually was). I have only one game this year I've been looking forward to and that's Ace Combat 7 because those games are the only ones I get hyped for (I've never been disappointed by the main Ace series (numbered titles, Assault Horizon was thankfully not a main series staple because you and I both know how much that game sucked)). I just wish we'd get more information on it.

    2. (See 2 other replies to this status update)

  15. After four days of playing I finally beat Detroit: Become Human or should I say finished my first play through and boy was it a pleasure. It's been a very long time since I've played a game with such an amazing story behind it and it's been even longer since I've felt such emotion while playing. This is my game of the year and nothing will come close to over taking it. A little early to be saying this? Probably but the chances another game as rich in story, character development, and emotional attachment coming out this year is slim to none. Games like these are what influenced my decision to get my degree (even if I'm not using it or working in the industry) and it's games like this that I've always wanted to create.

True, the story has problems (and an extremely slow start after the first mission (the demo mission if you haven't played it)) and borrows heavily from real life events (civil rights movement is the big parallel with Markus coming off as the android MLK (depending on what choices you make)) and covers some pretty heavy subjects (domestic abuse, drug use, what does it mean to really be alive, etc) but they are few and far between and do little to detract from the narrative being told (in fact I think it gives the story more character). This game also does an extremely good job of making you feel the consequences of the choices you make and drives those points home later on down the line (every choice you make effects how the story ends, even the most mundane).

All three main characters are interesting in their own ways and it was a joy seeing them all evolve throughout the course of the story and while I admit some of them were bland (Connor coming to mind, his character arch is the most interesting but his character is rather bland until about half way through the game) that hardly detracts from the story. If I had to choose I'd say Kara's story was my favorite for pure emotional reasons and Connor's being the most enjoyable (mostly due to the Detective he works with). Don't get me wrong Markus's story is good and the beginning of it really makes you feel for him but overall it doesn't outshine the other two. Plus the actor's they got to play these characters did an extremely amazing job bringing these characters to life so much so that I became emotionally attached to each one of them (this goes for secondary characters as well, I had to make some real hard choices at the end of the game and it was heartbreaking to do so).

While I'm not one to gush about graphics I must say this game is beyond beautiful and the motion capture and animation are top notch (not to mention the starting screen is probably the most unique one to date). It's obvious this is a game and everything is CG but sometimes you forget given how well they nailed the likeness of the actors/actresses they used (almost all the main characters and certain side characters share their likeness with the actor/actress that portrayed them). I also have to say the soundtrack is rather amazing (now to rip it off my PS4 for my listening pleasure).

All in all this game was an emotional ride and probably the best $70 I've spent on a game in years. I can't recommend it enough but I warn you this game is not for everyone. There is very little action (and what little there is completely consists of quick time events) and it's completely character driven, think of it as a CYOA movie that takes some input from the audience. Plus if you've never played a Quantic Dream game (Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls) then you probably won't really enjoy it. However if this sounds like something you'd like I highly recommend it. As I said it's been a really long time since I've enjoyed a game this much and I can't wait to play it again this weekend to try out the paths I didn't take (and to get all the trophies, this will probably be the only game I 100%) and see the other endings (I got what could be considered the best ending).

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

While I have yet to play Heavy Rain (I got a copy of the PS4 remake/remaster with my purchase of the Digital Deluxe Version of Detroit, will probably start playing it here soon) if she liked it I'm pretty sure she'll love Detroit. I can't stress enough how much I love this game (you can ask my co-worker, it's all I've been talking about since yesterday (luckily he hasn't been annoyed yet because he's been playing it too)).

  16. I'm going to preface this by saying I'm normally not a fan of Super Robot mech shows (more of a Real Robot guy myself (Gundam/Macross)) and never really have been (there are exceptions but they are few) so that will tell you just how much I adored this show.

It took me 11 years to finally sit down and watch it (and it's spent many years on my Netflix to watch list (I watched in on CR though) but I finished Gurren Lagann tonight and I have to say I absolutely fucking adored it. I don't understand why it took me so long to finally watch it but god am I glad I finally did. I haven't been this pumped after watching a show since I finished Kill la Kill (funny considering Trigger is also responsible making that gem). I'll admit it was a little rough in the beginning and if it wasn't for Kamina I would of dropped it but man am I glad I stuck through it, it only kept getting better. I'll admit, my taste for shows like this has dwindled over the years and I'm not really into the over the top, ridiculous shit anymore but god this just scratched an itch I didn't even know I had. Sure, I have my issues with the show (some pretty poor character development in some of the secondary characters, story is a little hard to follow after a certain point, some of the mech based science bugs me, and the whole Spiral Energy thing is ridiculous) but god damn do they seem insignificant when put up against an awesome soundtrack, awesome visuals (a little jenky considering how old it is), and a downright stellar main cast.

If it wasn't for my absolute love for Zeta Gundam this might have taken the place as my all time favorite mech anime (you all know me well enough to know how high of praise this is). I can't wait to watch the movies this weekend (yea they're recaps but apparently the second movie makes the final fight even more epic then it already was) and I'm sad to think there is no more of this wonderful show to watch (manly tears were shed at this realization).

For the final fight alone the second movie is worth watching, it's just that fucking awesome. As I said there are some changes that just seemed weird to me (mostly with story and character flow, they retconned a lot of what happened in the last 3-4 eps and completely condensed the whole Anti-Spiral reveal/Simon arrest into like 10-15 minutes) but the movies are worth a watch (though overall the story is laid out better and the characters progress more fluidly in the series) if you want to say you've had the complete TTGL experience (though they underplay Kamina a lot more than I'd of preferred, he's still a major focus but it seems they really rushed through his arc to get to the more meaty story bits which felt like a complete disregard for his importance (the second movie does a good job and establishing how important he was but it felt really underplayed in the first movie)).

Finally got both movies watched and I have to say for recap/condensation movies they were pretty damn good.

The first one was what you'd expect from a condensation of the first 15 episodes and while it was good some of the changes were kinda weird (like the final battle with the Four Generals, while I like this version somewhat more than the original fights it left out a lot of what motivated Simon to break out of his meek self and into the person he became) and a little off-putting. Overall though enjoyable.

Now the second one was, well I just don't know how to put it because I don't think there is a word in any language that can describe just how pure fucking awesome it was. Again some of the changes were weird and off-putting but that final battle was beyond awesome, probably the most enjoyable 30 minutes I've ever seen in a movie. Pure fucking insanity is the only real way to summarize it.

Without a doubt this is probably going to go down as one of my all time favorite mech anime and anime of all time (nothing will ever beat out Zeta Gundam for top mech anime but this is a close fucking second and Aria will always remain my all time favorite anime but this is close up there (displaced by like 5 or 6 other shows, definitely in the top 10 though)). After watching the movies I just can't talk myself out of buying this now and I must own this for my collection (I just wish it didn't cost so much x.x). I didn't think Trigger could top Kill la Kill for me but they did and did it before Kill la Kill was even created, god damn this show and the movies were amazing (I just wish it didn't take me 11 years to finally watch it).

That's generally why I buy anime at or around Christmas. Right Stuf's Black Friday/Christmas sale is fucking nuts, 50+% off on a lot of shit (though it seems to be the same things every year with a few different things thrown in from time to time). Sadly Aniplex titles are never on it (and if they are they're sold out before I ever get a chance to order any).

Generally prices aren't really that bad considering you can get a BD complete set of a lot of series (depending on length) for the price of a new video game (maybe a little bit more depending on a few things) now-a-days. You just have those fucking scum bag companies like Aniplex who think it's a great business plan to price gouge (even though they're apparently up to 50% cheaper in other countries). Plus you also have companies like Right Stuf who constantly have sales going to one publisher or another every week. I remember when it cost $200 for a DVD boxset back when anime was first becoming big here in the states (that's how much I paid for my Trigun Complete Boxset over 10 years ago (original run from Pioneer before they stopped publishing anime)) so we've come pretty far since then price wise.

Depending on what my paycheck looks like on Friday I might pick it up. I do have 20 hours of overtime so I might just use that to get it (even though I would like to buy a new mouse and keyboard, sigh to many choices and not enough money to go around) but then again I did pre-order Detroit: Become Human two weeks ago so I should probably wait.

  19. 3 episodes into Stiens:Gate 0, and it's a feels trip. I liked the first one, but I wouldn't consider myself a fan. But this one is just tugging at my feelings with Okabe interacting with Amadeus. On a funny note, its wierd how everyone's tits got huge. Wtf? XDXD

I noticed it as the series progressed, the man knew what was going to happen that's for sure (to bad he had to die so early in the series. You want to talk about a gut punch I thought my entire world collapsed at the end of that episode).

I'm honestly contemplating buying the BD Complete set on Right Stuf that comes with both movies but I'm not sure I can afford a $150 hit right now (Aniplex price gouges the hell out of shit here in the US, it's the only reason I haven't bought Kill la Kill yet) but god damn I need to own this wonderful piece of greatness in all its HD, remastered glory.

XD leave it to you to notice the most important things.

It's been a rough ride and the way things are shaping up (based on all 5 eps) it's going to be another emotional roller coaster. I'm honestly enjoying this more then the first one just based on the emotional tone alone but I still say the first one was amazing in it's own right (I just wish the fucking games would go on sale x.x )

  22. The dub of first ep of My Hero Academia Season 3 finally came out so I caught up on the first four. Holy crap, they aren't wasting any time this season. Shit is already going down! Finished Garo Vanishing Line. It was really good, I want a second season of this era, and they left it open for one. I'm pretty pumped about the movie that takes place in the first era though. Overlord Season 2 was kind of a let down for me. The action was still good but it felt like the season had no real beginning or end... it was like the middle of a season, and there was no apparent turning point or climax. The lizard people happened, and then this whole thing with six arms... but nothing was resolved. Hopefully season 3 is more structured.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Season 2 of Overlord is a lot of setup for whats to come in the next season (Ainz has some pretty big plans according to what I've read). I'm not expecting a lot of action for season 3 or at least the first half but I'm sure we'll be rewarded quite handsomely (if they adapt the chapters in order like they have been). Like I said before things should get quite a bit more interesting going forward.

  23. Fucking hell that was a ride. Just finished watching Steins;Gate and I have to say its an amazing show. I finally understand why people love it so much. Characters are pretty interesting (pretty bland and stereotypical but none-the-less interesting), story is completely bonkers (we're talking Serial Experiments Lain and Boogiepop Phantom levels of bonkers) and amazing, and the sheer emotional ride this puts you through is both terrifying and exciting.

Sure it starts out pretty slow but once you get to the halfway mark it seriously starts moving at an intense pace. I normally don't praise anime this much but this is truly a great show, almost a masterpiece if I've ever seen one (probably one of the only shows I have rated at 10 on MAL that actually deserves the rating for all the right reasons, not just pure enjoyment). I highly recommend watching it if you haven't, it's definitely worth the time investment (and I'll admit it's not for everyone but if you want a show that tears your emotions to shreds and makes you think this is definitely one for you).

Seriously can't wait for Steins;Gate 0 to start airing on Thursday (really hope CR has the simulcast for it). Now I just need to find time to watch the movie and the OVA before it starts. Also need to hope the VN this is based off of goes on sale on Steam so I can see the actual story that wasn't adapted for the anime (and to see all the other endings).

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

0 is going to be a wild ride as well if the first episode is any indication so I'm really looking forward to whats to come. Besides FMP and Amanchu it's the only thing I'm excited to watch this season. Don't know if you were able to watch it (I don't know what Funi has posted, CR doesn't have the OVA/Movie/or the ep I'll talk about (had to dl all of them)) but you should see if you can watch the alternate version of episode 23 as it sets up 0 (nothing really different until the last 10 minutes) and will give you a good idea of where the story will be headed.

The movie is a fun little romp, not as good as the actual series but it ends the Steins;Gate perfect ending (which is what they adapted) nicely and takes place right after the OVA (don't know if Funi has it on their service, I know they have the license for it though).

  24. Just finished season 1 of Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans. I enjoyed it, but man I can't help but notice the parallels with Gundam Wing. A young female working for peace, a semi-emotionless male pilot, an antagonist that disguises himself with a mask in a red mobile suit? XD Eh, maybe I'm looking too much into it, there are more differences than similarities. Since CN has the broadcast rights, I hope Funi eventually gets season 2 on stream... its the only Gundam they have. I will say I'm not the biggest fan of the designs on this one. I liked Gusion and EB-AX2, but that was about it.

    1. Strider Hiryu

Was going to say you could always watch the sub on CR but I know you prefer to watch your dubs, why I'll never know (I mean subs are far superior (j/k)).

Just wait till you see Barbatos's upgrade, that suit is beyond amazing looking (it gets two upgrades in S2, last one is fucking amazing and beyond deadly). Funi has the S2 license but as you said they probably won't stream it until CN is done airing it (which is retarded but meh, CN be greedy). I might end up actually buying it once S2 is released on BD that's how much I enjoyed the show. Not entirely happy by how it ended (I mean I saw it coming a mile away as it's pretty much spelled out throughout the entirety of S2) but I'm generally never happy by how shows end (Gundam shows in particular).

Except for the whole fact IBO is gorey as fuck and deals with child soldiers it mirrors Wing perfectly :P

IBO is pretty fucking good. The end fight (of S2) is pretty fucking epic. Probably my third favorite AU Gundam after X and Turn A.

Besides the Barbatos I can't stand the designs of the Gundams, they're either bulky as fuck or underdesigned.
