  1. Well I won't be getting BF1 now due to the car accident I was in today leaving work. I won't get into the details but everyone involved is ok (I have a sore shoulder wear the seat belt locked up but nothing serious) but my car is pretty much fucked so I now get to go shopping for a new one this weekend (yay, more payments I can't afford but it'll be cheaper than getting the damage repaired). What a lovely day to end my work day (and I got off early due to having to attend a quarterly meeting that suffice to say I missed).

I'm glad nobody was hurt in the accident. Hopefully your insurance will cut you a good check. The first 3 cars I owned were all used. When my saturn was declared totaled in an accident with a SUV my insurance cut me a check for $2,000 and I was able to buy the car back from them at salvage cost of $75. I recommend you do that too if there is anything salvageable. I had good winter tires on it at the time and I was able to sell those for $100 and then sell the actual car to a scrap yard and got another $170 for it. After that accident I wanted a 4 wheel drive vehicle and bought a used blazer that screwed me for years with a payment and maintenance. Worst vehicle purchase I ever made. After it's transmission went with 1 year left of payments still I gave up, took the loss and traded it in at a toyota dealership and had the remaining balance I owed added to the new car note. I straight up bought a new toyota corolla. With a $2,000 down payment I borrowed from my parents I had a payment of $350 a month with a car loan of about $21,000 with zero percent financing at the time (remember the toyota acceleration issue from 7 years ago? That zero percent finance deal won me over those concerns. lol. And my car was made in the USA and never had the issue to begin with because it was the imported ones with the problem.). Its been just over 6 years since I've owned the corolla and I've had hardly any maintenance at all. If at all possible I'll never buy a used vehicle again. I now assume all pre-owned cars previous owners were complete asses that never once took the car in for an oil change or even did basic maintenance like replace an air filter. I swear that long term damage happens in the first 2 years of a cars life and it starts showing within the 60k mile mark. Until I bought that Corolla I didn't know that new cars had to be broken in properly. Theres an entire thing in the owner manual about it and the salesman informed me of it too. Something like "don't hard accelerate for the first 1,000 miles", "run the car at 65 mph on the freeway", "get the first oil change at 1500 miles". I think the newer cars don't need to be broken in like that anymore since they all use full synthetic oils in every part of the car now. But in terms of all of our experiences with pre-owned cars I can guarantee that none of them were broken in correctly and it shows after 2 years of owning a pre-owned car with things breaking down that shouldn't like transmissions, differentials and ball joints.

Sadly I only had liability on it so I won't be getting a damn thing for it from insurance, sucks but whatever. Sadly the only taker we've had on it for parts wanted to give us $125 for it but my father told them where to stick it since the engine alone is worth more than that (not to mention I just had new tires put on it last winter). Hopefully he'll get a hold of my uncle who knows a few people who might want it and give us a good price for it.

Luckily we might have found me a car today so things might be looking up. They're asking $9900 for it and the car is in great shape and only has 45,000 miles on it (we talked with the owner/dealer about it (it's his wife's old car) tonight before I came home from work). I just need to head to the bank tomorrow and see if I can get a loan for it (I have great credit even with all of my debt so I should be able to) and hopefully I'll have a new vehicle.

I've never owned a new vehicle so I've never had to go through the breaking in thing. I've always had used cars. My first car was an '89 Chrysler LeBaron (god I loved that car, had a turbo in it and everything. Sadly the turbo was going out so we had to get rid of it). Second car was my mother's old Plymouth Acclaim (it was a good car it just had some Alternator issues that we could never get fixed properly). This last one was a '97 Buick LeSabre and as I said above the thing was nothing but a pain in my ass so I'm not all that sad it's wrecked (besides the whole having a car payment should I get this new one). Honestly I've really never seen my parents own new vehicles either (my father's pickup is the only new vehicle he's ever owned, bought it last year (2016 Dodge Ram)) so I've never really had my eyes set on new vehicles because they're just so god damn expensive. The car we're looking at is a 2010 so it's the newest vehicle I'll have ever owned if I do get it (ironically enough it's a car I've always wanted, a Dodge Charger). Honestly it's always a shit show buying anything used but it does suck when you get those dirty bastards who sell you something knowing full well it's a piece of shit.

Sounds like a damn nice car to me. The fact that it was the dealer's wife's car means they should know all there is about car maintenance and it should be in great shape. $9900 for 45k miles is not bad at all. :D

A new car for me was an amazing experience considering I had an hour or so round trip every day to work. My last 2 cars couldn't handle the drive anymore and both ended up needing work done on them at least every other month. It was beyond stressful. I had two extremely bad experiences with my old cars. If your service engine soon light ever starts blinking, pull that car over and stop driving. I had no idea that light could blink until I had a piston started misfiring while on a freeway. I drove that saturn home with the light blinking at me thinking my car was going to blow up at any minute while the entire car shook violently for the last 15 minutes of the drive home. I can laugh about it now, but damn that was terrifying. XD Another time my blazer completely died on the road because the distributor cap failed and it wasn't even close to 100k miles yet. I never trusted it for reliability again. Now that I don't drive that much anymore a used vehicle would probably work fine for me, but I'll still avoid it if I can. Either way I'll stick with Toyota from now on. I love my Corolla.

I looked up a 2010 dodge charger and damn that looks slick. What color is it?
