  1. Prometheus was just a confused movie. I can't remember if it started as a prequel to Alien or was something else and they tried to turn it into that, but it was just a mess. They tried to take it seriously, and it failed. This, however, looks to be a silly summer action flick that they know won't be the best story, but they'll have fun with it anyways. That I can get behind!
  2. Ah yes, Big Stompy Robots, The Movie. Honestly, I don't expect a stellar story, well-rounded characters, or award winning acting. But damn if I'm going to miss seeing mecha vs. aliens on the big screen!

    For SCIENCE!

I thought this was pretty cool. Chris Hadfield is an astronaut up in the ISS, and he's been posting pictures on Twitter that he takes up there (which is worth checking out). Someone wanted to know what happens when you wring out a wet towel in zero-g. Here's what happens: Science, bitches!

  5. So, finally finished the first half of Dr. Who season 7. DAAAAAMMMMM. *sniffles*

  7. Aw man, when I saw the title I thought it was about the series!
  8. I wasn't trying to defend them. They made the wrong choice, plain and simple. But what I'm saying is that it's also the parent's and community's fault as well. I hear teen and younger boys joking about raping someone and laugh because they haven't put that connection together yet, and the parents don't bother to correct them. If they're going online looking for porn (and lets face it, most of them are), porn with the women getting 'raped' end with the woman having a good time, so they have a very skewed view of sex and what is right and wrong in that regard. And the parents are 'too busy' or just plain uncomfortable talking about sex with their kids, so they're left on their own to figure out what they should do. We don't just need education for our kids; a lot of parents should be educated as well.
  9. You know, I was reading one of the random Yahoo artilcles about this, written by one of the sports guys, and he made a good point. Not in defense of them or what they did, but why it might have happened in the first places. Apparetly, the whole town had a habit of just letting the jock crowd do what they wanted. The liquer stores would look the other way when they bought beer, the parents willingly let them have parties and stay out as late as they wanted to, and so on. He mentioned one of the kids actually took the keys away from one of his friends so he wouldn't drive drunk. The kids knew that was a bad idea, but didn't truely realize what rape was. I'm not trying to defend them by any means, they commited a crime and should be punished for it. But just as much blame can be placed on the adults in that community, not only for letting them do what they want simply because they were star football players, but also for not educating them properly. We've taught them that drinking and driving is bad, and they understand that. Why has rape and assault not been given the same prominence?
  10. Still, that's about half of normal time served for rape. Persionally, I think the sentance for rape should be much higher.

    Chicken Adobo

I don't know. This doesn't actually taste salty, that's part of what the coconut milk does. I would suggest trying it as is first, and if it's too salty, try the light next time.

    Chicken Adobo

Ok, so this is a modified version of one offered by Cooks Illustrated. We found that if you make it as they list it, there's not enough sauce! But we made some adjustments with the quantites, and this works out well. Very tasty and tangy, without being really tart. ----------- Ingredients 4 (5- to 7- ounce) bone-in chicken thighs, trimmed 1/3 cup soy sauce 1 (13 1/2-ounce) can light coconut milk 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar 8 garlic cloves, peeled 2 bay leaves 1 teaspoons pepper 1 scallion, sliced thin (optional garnish) Instructions 1. Toss chicken with soy sauce in large bowl. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour. 2. Remove chicken from soy sauce, allowing excess to drip back into bowl. Transfer chicken, skin side down, to 12-inch nonstick skillet; set aside soy sauce. 3. Place skillet over medium-high heat and cook until chicken skin is browned, 7 to 10 minutes. While chicken is browning, whisk coconut milk, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, and pepper into soy sauce. 4. Transfer chicken to plate and discard fat in skillet. Return chicken to skillet skin side down, add coconut milk mixture, and bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Flip chicken skin side up and continue to cook, uncovered, until chicken registers 175 degrees, about 15 minutes. Transfer chicken to platter and tent loosely with aluminum foil. 5. Remove bay leaves and skim any fat off surface of sauce. Return skillet to medium-high heat and cook until sauce is thickened, 5 to 7 minutes. Pour sauce over chicken, sprinkle with scallion, and serve over rice.

  16. Because Myst is still awesome. ....And now I want to play King's Quest again.
  17. Yeah, you can pretty much stick all of Wolf's Rain in there. ^^; The end of the Ice and Snow arc in DNAngel makes me tear up every time. That's the only one I've seen that makes me tear up though.
  18. Yeah, that got to me too! I was all "Mordin, noooo!!" *sniff* And Legion too, that was just as sad!
  19. I did like Wrex, espically in ME3. Yeah, he's not part of your party, but it was nice to see him come into his own, so to speak. And I didn't have any more trouble with Garrus going down vs. anyone else. If you have him switch to the sniper rifle, he'll hang back most of the time, and he's pretty good with it. The worst mobs I had trouble with were the Brutes and the Banshees. *headdesk* And that's why I always use my extra power as Carnage because that's the best way to take both of them down! But I think I liked him best in ME3. His character was more fleshed out, and it was pretty clear he considers Shepard his best friend. Plus, he was fun as a romance, probally because he apparently tried to get dating tips from Joker.
  20. Garrus Vakarian / Mass Effect I liked his personality, and he made such a fun romance, espcially in ME3. Plus, he's a bit of a smartass, which I can apprecate. Actually, most of the main characters of ME, espically ME3. There were some very touching moments in ME3, like Mordin's part. *sniff* And I'm sorry, I didn't really care for Miranda, she could be such a bitch at times. But the fact that they took time to round out her character and gave her a complex personality (not just a bitch, but a person) was good. Anders / Dragon Age In Awkenings, he was my favorite character. Funny, kinda sweet, and a good character. In DA2, much more complex and tragic, which really bummed me out because I had a little game crush on him. Ruined-Tail / Oblivion (mod companion) I don't know if this counts, but Ruined-Tail's Tail is a companion mod for Oblivion, and one of my favorites. You can install as just an NPC follower, but he has a good backstory, a bit of tragedy, and a fun personality. If you still play Oblivion, it's worth checking out. Lilisette / FFXI (Wings of the Goddess) One of the expansion NPCs, she's a half-Elvaan/half-Hume dancer, who ends up following you to the past in search of her father. It's a really interesting story, and I'm really bummed I'll probally never get to see the end of it.

Both, actually. But the computer lags mostly when I have too many programs open. This site, and lots of others, lag even if it's just Firefox. ><

Is it an old Windows XP system? I think after all the service packs, old computers can't run it that good any more.
