Right now there are no guns, but all the big streamers seem to think they'll add them eventually, and I wouldn't doubt it. There are less guns in this game than there were in WAW. Right now its all cosmetics, XP boosters, and unlocks you could buy with your tokens you get from challenges and orders. I got an MG42 variant that gives me 15% more xp per kill. The launch of this game has been a train wreck though. I can't play with friends more than one match without getting booted to the main menu.
I beat the campaign and it didn't disappoint. Overall it's top 3. The end was a bit anti-climatic in how it was done, but it definitely had several memorable moments.

Against my better judgement I broke down and got this game. My clan has pretty much stopped playing D2 and since I have everything at 305 I don't have any drive to play it right now.
The mutliplayer is pretty meh. Every map is uninspired, everything is a hallway, trench, bunker, or small room. I can barely stay alive long enough to get a kill. Getting 2 without dying feels like an achievement in itself. The TTK is fine, and the guns are ok... but the maps just aren't very good, which has been the case for COD for years now. The social aspect of it is pretty neat, along with the daily and weekly challenges but I think people play War for these as your KD is untouched in that game mode. Quickscoping is back and its annoying as ever. The Lee Enfield is super OP that even I'm good with it. Thats a bad sign, because I've always been hot garbage at sniping in COD.
War is actually really fun. But there are only 3 maps for it sadly. Its a damn shame they came up with something like this only to not really invest in the chance that it could work. Like I said previously it doesn't touch your KD which is good as people care too much about it in COD. You're going to die a lot in this mode unless you're just a selfish prick in which you should be playing TDM or FFA. This comes with a double edged sword though.. I notice people are using their worst guns and I even saw someone use the shovel the entire match... I guess people are going to farm this mode for camo challenges without taking the hit on their KD.
Now to the part where I don't regret buying this... the campaign is fucking amazing. The story is the best in the whole series so far... I'm pretty close to the end, but I'd rank it above Modern Warfare right now. Kudo's to Sledgehammer for such a great narrative story full of insane watershed moments around every corner. The campaign has a mix of everything. Stealth, Jeep chasing, Tank driving, fighter pilot, sniper supporting AI, to the traditional shoot and cover. However this one plays a lot different. You can't just rambo everything or you will die very fast. There is no regenerating health. Instead you rely on med packs that you have to use with its own animation. At first I was distraught over this, but I got use to it pretty fast. Med packs can be found laying around, but also there is a new squad mechanic throughout the story. 4-5 NPCs provide support like this off reasonable cool downs. One will have a med pack available (you can hold up to 4 at a time for about a 60% heal each), another will refill your ammo, one for your nades, one for a mortar strike, and one can highlight enemies out of cover. Not all of these will be available at all times every mission. Even the med pack guy isn't with you at times. This game is stunningly beautiful, and the facial animations are the most life like I've ever seen. All of them look like the actors that play them IRL. The must have mocaped them all, because the show of emotion with the excellent voice acting just brings it to life. I got 5 or 6 hours into it, and I'm sure I'm near the end.... so its about standard COD length, but its still very good.

Saw the latest trailer last night, totally looking forward to it!  HSpoon doesn't want to go as the first one had to many science holes in it for him to just enjoy the giant robot vs. kaiju parts.

I still own my PS3, Xbox 360, & Steam Machine. Games With Gold & PlayStation Plus still give out games for their last gen consoles. So I'm still going to spend $120 a year on console gaming.
Someday I may or may not become an actual PC Gamer. Because I like my old hardware too much to upgrade as soon as possible.
And I might still buy DLC as those don't turn into limited time offers like Micro Transactions.

I sold my PS4 today for $140 worth of Game Stop store credit.
I'm no longer doing micro transactions, preordering console games, or buying consoles that connect to the internet.
It just got up to a point where I wanted it all but couldn't afford it.
    If only
Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch was a launch title Skyrim VR was a free add on to Skyrim Special Edition ESO kept its micro transactions to $90 max instead of becoming $150 It were easy to save money for a Nintendo Switch It were easy to save money for PSVR I could've safely preordered other M Rated Switch games I wanted this month I wouldn't have felt the need to stop.
But its just too much money.
And so this escape from reality is no longer worth it.
The last consoles I buy will probably be an N64 Classic & Game Cube Classic.

Nah. I had 2 of my characters to 305 last week and got my Warlock to 305 this week as I was waiting for a bond to drop to finish it off. Now I don't have anything to do and will probably only play on Tuesdays unless someone needs me for a nightfall run. If they make the raid the only way to get max level in the DLC, I'll probably quit playing though. While there is 8-9 people in my clan, no one is ever on at the same time long enough to even do the first raid. I don't think they'll do this, but there is speculation now that updates on all 3 platforms will be simultaneously released. Then again if they want to keep selling to casuals, they probably won't if they keep the level and power requirements to do missions and content in place.
I think the light increase will give me another reason to grind. There is a some quality of life updates coming out soon that will fix a lot of empty instances for solo players, and improved rewards for strikes, which will be good. I'd like to run strikes with friends, but we all agree there is no point right now when you can just farm public events for the same thing.
I think its pretty cool everyone will get to see the lighthouse now that never could get to it in D1, learning about Osiris will be cool, but I'm more excited for the second DLC and Rasputin. You actually reactivate a war mind network on Io which gives Rasputin expanded access to the solar system. There is a side adventure I mentioned earlier that dealt with this. If you're interested in how it may connect here is a neat video.

There would be no point really. The purpose of the kingdoms is because you can only travel so far with the power moons you gained from the last one to track down Bowser, so you keep going from kingdom to kingdom to gather more moons to go further. With how the industry is going, Nintendo might be the only company that will still make single player adventure games that don't have DLC.

Season 2 was really good. It wasn't as good as season 1 but a very strong sequel. I'm sure we'll get a season 3 but I don't really know where they'll go from here for it.

The outfits are mostly fashion. There are some that can be bought with normal coins, and some with kingdom specific purple coins that are more difficult to collect. The purple coins will buy you an outfit themed to that kingdom and there is usually a locked door an NPC will only let you into when dressed in said outfit.
You only have 3 hearts per life, you can find and/or buy a power heart that will give you 6. This is mostly a waste to buy because the game is so easy, you'll only need 3. If you die, you only lose 10 coins and get to start at a pretty decent checkpoint. Most of the time you'll drop those 10 coins like Sonic loses his rings, and can pick them all back up. The 6 hearts are only temporary and they go away if you lose them. You can refill them with standard heart drops as long as you don't drop to 3. Sometimes you'll get a power heart and fall to your death losing the extra 3 without ever getting to benefit from them.
There are no upgrades. I beat the game yesterday, and there is still a lot to do after you finish if you like to explore. I rage quit after I hit a pretty tough 2D puzzle that had a lot of bullet bills flying everywhere while there was a map hazard that you pop you out of the 2D mode into 3D and caused you to fall to your death.
Breath of the Wild is the superior game and its not even close... of course not much comes close to BoTW. Its a masterpiece. Odyssey is great, Sunshine is still my favorite, but Odyssey is definitely a step in the right direction for the series. The sound and music was amazing. The Metro Kingdom and Sand Kingdom were my favorites. It seemed more time was spent on their development than the others.

This movie was amazing and I loved every minute of it. I wish it was a marvel movie so Wonder Woman could team up with the Avengers instead of DC's current Superman and Batman incarnations. I've been getting into BF1 more lately and seeing the WW1 vehicles and weapons in Wonder Woman was spot on. There was even landship briefly in a scene.

So far this review is pretty spot on. My favorite part of this game is the 2D puzzles in Mario 1 format. They do interesting things with it, while its 2D it can wrap around a column or other odd shaped terrain. I was in one kingdom that had a bunch of them, while another had one or none. I kind of wish there was more consistency to it.
The possession mechanic is awesome. From Bullet Bills to a new tank enemy, it reminds me a lot of Kid Chameleon. For the most part you can stay in control of the possession indefinitely.  Things like Bullet Bill, it will end when you crash into something, or he detonates.
My only gripe is that some of the boss fights are WAAAAAY too easy. The review isn't lying. Some of these bosses can be defeated in 20-30 seconds. The mechanics are cool and easy enough to make you have to hit the boss double the amount of times you're required. Each kingdom has a boss, but they aren't pivotal to the zone besides the fact that you probably can't leave until you defeat them, but if you go straight to them and take them down, you still can't leave until you collect enough moons to power up your ship. This is what you spend most your time doing. Exploring and finding hidden moons. There are ones in obvious places, hidden ones. and ones that require puzzles or mini games to get. There might even be another hidden boss.
Here is an example of a hidden boss. This was probably one of my 3 favorite so far, but its the only one that's not a spoiler so its worth watching.

Oh you fight the Kazon as well, fuck there's a whole season (Expansion) that deals with the Delta Quadrant where the KDF, Starfleet, and their Romulan allies fight off the beginnings of the Iconian invasion while dealing with the hostile denizens of the Delta Quadrant. STO is a lot like WoW in the terms of two factions fighting against each other, yes 40 years in the future we are still at war with the Klingons (though there is a cease fire in existence when the Iconians show up) so there is always someone to fight but PvP has never been a big aspect of STO as far as I can tell (or heard from my Fleet).
The Iconians never died. They went into hiding after the alliance of alien species destroyed their homeworld. They were never really an antagonistic species and actually had values very similar to Starfleet. https://sto.gamepedia.com/Iconian, pretty much explains everything that happened before and after their disappearance and yes they are leaps and bounds more powerful then Starfleet, the Klingon Empire, and the Romulan Republic combined. We only won the war due to time traveling.

5-7 hours seems so damn short. Thats like BF1 campaign short. The BF1 campaign missions were great and well made, but I bought that game for the multiplayer. The single player was just a great bonus on the side. But for battlefront 2, I'd rather it be more about the story with multiplayer as a bonus mode like Last of Us and Tomb Raider. Its a shame so many games are turning into the multiplayer loot box setup instead. I blame cell phone games. Before we know it Battlefront 3 will be a F2P game but you can only play 3 matches a day unless you pay $0.99 a day for 5 hours a day and only $9.99 one time fee to remove the in game advertising in between spawns.
Kotaku and some other sites have been having the loot box conversations for the last week or so. I agree that that loot box is a shitty way to make money. As far as I'm concerned they should either have paid DLC or loot boxes. If there is going to be loot boxes, then the dlc needs to be free to keep people playing while having loot boxes be the crap on the side people can throw money at. I prefer Guild Wars 2 loot boxes. Even tho I never buy them at least I can buy the contents off the trading post. But in all these other games exclusive account bound skins hidden behind rng is some bullshit. The loot box fiasco of Battlefield 1 was a big part of what turned me off from the game. Its much better now. At least if I save up enough scrap I can buy a specific skin directly when it comes up in the rotation instead of having to gamble.

Not so much, species 8472 turned their sights on us once the Queen was killed (metaphorically speaking, there hasn't been a resurgence of a new body for the queen at least in STO). They play a pretty big role in a lot of the beginning quests trying to bring down the KDF and Starfleet from within. There's also a whole Expansion dedicated to fighting them (and it sucks, they're just as bad as the Borg when it comes to taking them on sometimes). I'm sure they're still fighting but with the Borg in a weakened state they turned their attentions to us (along with everything else in the fucking galaxy. I've had to fight the Tholians, Dominion (yes, they are still around), Cardassians (yep, still around as well), The Breen, The Xindi, The Hirogen, The Vaadwaur (yes, that species the Voyager team woke up), The Voth, The Iconians, and many other species/factions besides the KDF, Borg, and 8472. It's been literal hell).
Could be but not much was ever covered on Unimatrix Zero outside of Voyager. They're called the Cooperative and they're allies with Starfleet through Seven (who makes an appearance in the game acting as sort of an ambassador). All I really know about them is that they're free from the Collective by some means.
I'd say it took roughly 40+ years for them to rebuild the conduit hub because they're in vanilla STO and have they're own storyline (they're still trying to invade the Alpha Quadrant). I only say 40+ because I'm not sure how long after Voyager returned home that the events of Nemesis took place (all I know is that Janeway was an Admiral by that time).

That's all kinds of interesting to me. I love how that video really showed the difference. It's crazy to think how fast warp 9.9 is. The Voyager series covered everything about trans warp, warp 10 and quantum slipstream. I actually watched it recently and remember some of it off hand. Basically going warp 10 equals infinite mass and infinite speed. They actually went to warp 10 in a very odd episode with their delta flyer shuttle. The end result was the pilot Tom Perry kinda had a glimpse into omnipresence. He could see everything everywhere and go anywhere he wanted. He recalled events and places on earth, every place of space between them and earth, and pretty much everything else. The ship sensor logs literally filled all its storage with data. The event was to much for his body to handle and he ended up mutating thru an advanced evolution that somehow turned him into a salamander looking dumb thing oon the end. At first it looked like an evolution thing but it really just fried his DNA imo.
Trans warp was Borg tech and they had specifically made trans warp corridors that existed in a different plane of subspace or something like that. They wouldn't do instant travel between the locations but it was pretty damn quick compared to warp 9.9. Voyager used some trans warp conduits and shaved 30+ years off their warp 9.9 average travel to earth. Voyager also developed a slip stream drive and shaved decades off their trip to. Slip stream worked like trans warp but wasn't as fast. It was like they were making a trans warp conduit on the fly. They couldn't stabilize the engine tho and shelved it for star fleet to do research on. In the season finale they showed the Borg trans warp conduit hub. It was a way station connecting all their conduits. I think the massive structure was built into a huge black hole / gravitational mass anomaly thing of some kind. I can't remember what it was but damn it was gigantic compared to the actual conduit hub structure.

They probably never fully developed the technology at the time or they were never able to (I'm not that well read on old school ST lore, I'm pretty knowledgeable about everything past TNG and Enterprise era). I know one of the biggest things that came out of Voyager was them stealing Transwarp technology from the Borg to try and make their trip home a lot quicker (if I remember correctly they did but never fully integrated it into their warp drive, they shaved a couple of years off their travel time before it gave out if I remember correctly). All I know is that tech has seen a significant advance in STO (shit we have Quantum Slipstream drives now (which enables the Transwarp ability on the space map, normal transwarp is instantaneous between transwarp gates)), mostly due to the Iconian threat and the intervention of time travelers (yea, the Temporal Time War is mentioned and we do get to fight the Xindi as well. Hell my Science Officer is flying a ship from the future and she's from Kirk's era (yea I know, bonkers)). I just find it funny that our ships are more powerful then ever before (yea this is a game so I understand that aspect) yet warp travel is still stuck at 9.97 (though I do remember them explaining why this is in Voyager I just don't remember the specifics, this is the reason they turned to transwarp).
