  1. These GW2 events I skipped out on doing over the last couple months are actually pretty fun. I've got some new skins to unlock. I think I'll change up my warrior's look a bit this weekend. :D

I could have made a new character look like Mei from Overwatch, but I didn't buy the wide rim glasses when they were available.. and custom head pieces can't be used with outfits. ;_; Theres a perfect outfit/glasses combo to make Mei, but the game won't allow the combo to happen.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Nope. :P I forgot the name of the outfit before. I was thinking about the artic explorer outfit with the hood off.

      https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Arctic_Explorer_Outfit

That with those wide rim glasses would have made a great looking Mei. ^_^

  2. I watched the first season (at least first available on netflix) of The Great British Baking Show. This was amazingly relaxing. lol. Everyone is so nice, the music is soothing. No stress, yet informative baking info. I got to the end of the first season, saw who won and everyone is happy in the end. wtf. XD This is so different from all other competition shows. In the finale all the previous contestants were having a field day / picnic with friends and family while the last 3 people competed. After the winner was announced the other finalist responded with things like "The right person won this today." wtf. XD Nobody is mad. XD What really shocked me was the prize. The winner got a couple bouquets of flowers and a glass serving dish / trophy for a cake... and thats it. lmao. I had to google it.. there is no prize money, no cook book deal, no vacation or baking job... just the satisfaction of winning. Wow. XD The next season started and it begins with "We had over 10,000 participants attempting to get into this season.." So many people spending so much time for no rewards besides personal growth and experience. I like this show.

Fake drama and pointless scripted banter has ruined alot of American realty TV for me. I haven't watched Pawn Stars in years because of it. I just want interesting and knowledgeable information about the subject the show it about. Thats why I liked Mythbusters so much. There was no talk about Grant's love life or any discussion about Jamie and Adam never getting along outside of the show. It was an enjoyable show packed full of explanations, enjoyment and explosions with no drama. I do like watching Masterchef and it sometimes forces some drama on the contestants via reward advantages, but its a much better show than Hell's Kitchen where everyone just yells at each other smoking 12 packs of cigarettes in between every kitchen shift. That gets old pretty quick. This baking show has really opened my eyes again to what a good reality show can be. Calm, informative and without banter and arguments you end up routing for specific people, but then don't feel crushed if they loose. Its really quite refreshing. If I want to watch arguments and pointless drama I'd turn on that real housewives show or one of those other crap reality shows that are no where close to being "reality" and are more like badly acted ad lib soap operas.

This is generally why I like British TV more than American TV, no pointless drama and the shows are actually well thought out and funny (I adore the original version of the Office more than the American version, so much better and funnier). If you compare the original version of Being Human to the American version that was on SyFy you would see a remarkable difference (the British version was more focused on the characters and their problems, you actually felt connected to the characters unlike the American version).

I might have to give the show a shot. Sounds like its a lot more relaxing to watch then the crap we get over here for reality TV.

I finished the last season of The Great British Baking Show on netflix, unfortunately they only had 3 seasons. I enjoyed the experience. :D

  3. I got my new 1 tb external hard drive in the mail today. I have enough free space that I can now save more than 1 or 2 video clips of my games at a time without having to delete something. That was so annoying. x_x

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lol. I kept burning everything onto DVD-Rs for years, but now I have a massive case of dvds and its no longer feasible to burn things onto disk when I can buy a hard drive like the one I just got. Its smaller than my wallet and holds as much data as my entire case of dvdrs. I ran out of room to store things years ago which co-insides with when I stopped downloading everything. Sounds like we both horde too much digital stuff. XD

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

XD Sad thing is half of that is just anime and the sadder thing is I haven't watched half of the anime either (which is why I'm glad I got a CR sub, I'm whittling that down slowly now) . Oh I'm not even mentioning the stacks of DVD-R's and CD-R's I have with shit burned on them to help conserve space. I really do have a problem, maybe I should apply to be on that Hoarder's show (I wonder if they consider digital hording to be hording XD).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Digital hording is horrible for me. You should see my inventory on my guild wars 1 & 2 characters and every final fantasy game I've ever played. XD

  4. It feels like I've had constant appointments for the last month that keep eating into all my free time. Even this week I have at least 3 places to go during work hours causing me to make up time during my free time. x_x Tomorrow I need to go back to the tire shop. I got my summer tires mounted and balanced on thursday and by late saturday afternoon I'm getting a helicopter kind of air sound from my front left tire. "whoosh whoosh whoosh". I thought I had a bearing going, but I got my breaker bar out and sure enough the lug nuts weren't tight. wtf. First time I've ever had this tire place screw up a mounting before and I've been going to them for over 14 years. I tightened them up but I'm still getting a bit of sound while driving. I don't feel like hauling my 3 ton jack out of my basement so I"ll go back there tomorrow. I'm pretty certain they're going to have to lift the car and re-center the tire.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I might end up moving this summer so most of my weekend free time for the past month and a half has been eaten up by constant spring cleaning of my basement and sheds and then putting in 2+ hours of work on the weekends to make up for some appointments during the week. 1 or 2 more weekends and I should be done. x_x

Speaking of that jp, I left my warrior there and when I do my daily login I've been opening that chest every day since you ported him there. XD

I love my mesmer too much to keep her dormant. XD I wish I would have done it with my engineer.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Went back to the tire place. Turns out one of the back plates got loose and was hitting a rotor causing noise. The other part of the noise was one of my caliper pins/sides in the front left seized up and caused uneven wear on my rotor which warped it. I needed new brakes and got that done today. Spent $350 on it.  :bleedout: It needed the brakes tho and I'm surprised it passed yearly inspection with them in that condition considering to fully stop the car I'd have to push the brake pedal down past the gas pedal and almost touch the floor. This car runs like new now that I dropped $1400 on it over this past month. My gas mileage is even much better. I was averaging 26 mpg, and now its getting 36 mpg.

  5. LoTR Fellowship of the Rings is such a slow book. The battle of five armies in The Hobbit was only around 40 pages. In Fellowship, I'm 80 pages in and Frodo is still in the process of leaving the shire.. wtf. I'm glad the movies skipped 90% of this. Nobody would watch the movie if 2 hours was dedicated to him attending his estate while waiting on Gandalf to finally show back up 15 years after telling Frodo to keep the ring safe. Roughly 15 years he was gone.. wtf. In the movies, its like he went and made a cell phone call and came right back all worried. In the book its a boring Hobbit's life with Frodo eventually taking care of his belongings, selling his house, getting his affairs in order, getting some breakfast with Sam, etc. x_x

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Thanks for the warning about the silmarillion. After reading the hobbit I was interested in getting more of his books but after reading the first 20 pages of notes, etc. that is the prologue of fellowship and then the first 80 pages of the book, Tolkien has almost burned me out in 100 pages. X_x All the hobbit lore in that prologue was all pointless details to me that add nothing to the plot. It completely lines up with what you said tho. It's all world building. This guy is more detail oriented in his writing than Peter Straub. However there is one part of the notes that really intrigued me. Tolkien, in response to critics saying his books was a metaphor for his experience in the war, gave an example of an alternate version of LoTR if it was. In the alternate version Sauron would have gotten the ring back and Saruman would have created his own ring of power and their two armies would have raged war against each other for control of middle earth. That would have been cool. Lol.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Meh, that was mostly there for those who hadn't read The Hobbit before getting into LOTR (I know I hadn't read The Hobbit before I read LOTR, was a nice little intro into what happened before the events currently taking place).

Don't get me wrong some of Tolkien's best work is in The Silmarillion (in fact it is my favorite book out of everything he's written) but like I said its a pain to read through all of it. I actually like that Tolkien took the time to actually set up his world and give us the details, it made it feel more alive). Too many books these days don't take the time to do that and just throw you into the fray without even a "Hey, this is whats kinda going on just so you know". Shit just wait until you get to the appendices in The Return of the King (if your copy has it, mine did). There is so much information on who's who, the elven language (which is actually a language, Tolkien was a Linguist), another few pages of story not mentioned in the book proper (like the Grey Havens scene from the movie, what happened after Sam and Frodo got back to the Shire, what Pippin and Merry were up to after everything, etc), and so much more (The Silmarillion has something similar but its not as bad).

Reading Tolkien is a huge commitment and is something I learned the hard way back when I first started reading his work. If you can put up with the amount of information he throws at you the reward is well worth the boredom.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind as a slug through these boring bits. :P

  6. I almost have my blog completely fixed. I neglected fixing all my attachments since the conversion. I only have about 5 entries left to fix. Once I get my categories back in place I will have to recategorize my entries and tag them. It took me almost 2 hours yesterday. x_x

      Pchan

      Sounds like a lotta work.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

It was. I had to recreate all the thumbnails too, which ended up duplicating all blog attachment images. I had about 60 entries with attachments in them. I had to delete all the old duplicates and then re-insert the images back into the correct positions in my entries. At least I'm almost done now. ^_^

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I finally finished my blog categories / tags, etc. That was so time consuming. Now I can focus on snack reviews and recipes again. ^_^

  7. Just finished the alternate ending in Saints Row the Third.. and I got some Steam trading cards. I got a spiffy Gat one and two Nyte Blaydes. I don't think these cards are actually worth anything tho.

      Eppy

he probably didnt even touch it

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

      I didn't touch it. -_- BF4 double xp called out to me. Tonight tho.. tonight is the night for KOTOR.. unless my brother calls me and says he'll be on bf4. ^_^;

  10. If I can focus my thoughts, I'll write up a new blog post I've been thinking about for a while now. I have a completely different opinion on the paranormal now. I can now rule out over 90% of everything I ever thought of as supernatural.

      Sledgstone

I probably won't play it that much, I'm still a little burned out from all the playing I did last weekend and the beginning of this week. I'll get on for a couple matches and get helicopter points. I'm close to getting ECM for attack helis.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I got the ECM for my attack helis. Damn Mobile AAs make them impossible to use. -_-

  12. Wednesday needs to hurry up and get here so I can read the new One Piece.. Usoland!! He better do something epic that cowardly bastard. -_-

    1. Pchan

      Pchan

He's going to disappoint you! I'd like to see what he's up to, maybe show us Nami n crew that she's with because we haven't seen them in a while. Show more of the Zoro-Luffy situation as well cos they're right where DoFla is.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I really want to see the Zoro vs Pica fight. That DF ability is insane. Also.. if everyone gets reverted from their toy state.. then what about Soldier san's rifle? The plan was to be released from the toy curse and then he shoots Flamingo.. but if he has a toy rifle now, couldn't that rifle turn into some awesome bazooka or something? What if his toy rifle is just a toy because he is.. and once the curse is broken, its actually something ridiculously powerful?

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Usopp!!! He will be amazing! I know it! :D And now I have to wait 2 weeks for the next chapter.. damn. x_x

  13. Knob Creek is a powerful whiskey.. I did a couple shots of it and it really caught me by surprise. I suppose I should treat it like a sipping whiskey. :P

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Because it is. :P Thats a premium category meant to be used with sophistication... until you get to bookers where you enjoy a delightfully luscious taste ending with a Chuck Norris round house kick to the sinuses! XD

    2. Eppy

      Eppy

Yeah Knob Creek is some good stuff.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

      lol. XD

I don't really sip whiskey, so I started doing small 1/5 to 1/4 shots here and there and it became quite enjoyable. ^_^

A visit in summer just to watch you play golf is all worth it.

    3. Sledgstone

That sounds like a good plan. We can hit the range so we can work on your golf swing. :D

  14. 3 day weekend for me. Finally. I need some time off. x_x

6 day weekend when I get off work tonight XD

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Very good. Enjoy that long weekend. :P

  15. I'm going to finally start half life 2 this weekend. I wonder how it holds up to today's standards seeing as i've never played it before and is 10 years old.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

      It's still a great game.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I ended up doing a crap ton of cleaning this weekend. I have a four day weekend next weekend tho. :D

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I know I was able to stream Portal 2.. I might try streaming Half-Life 2 this weekend if it works.

  16. I used my new cast iron pan tonight. Now that I know how to use cast iron I am very pleased. I made a great pork loin tonight. ^_^

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

You can make some SERIOUS burgers with cast iron. It's actually how I prefer them over grilled.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I own two cast iron pans now. A regular skillet and a grill pan. I've only tried making burgers on the grill pan once last winter and it was a smokey greasy mess. x_x But! I have learned how to use cast iron now. I bet I could make some awesome burgers now especially since I've pretty much mastered making stuffed steak burgers on the grill this summer.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

The only reason I wanted cast iron pans is so that I could grill indoors during winter. Last year we averaged so many days in the negative that I had no desire to stand outside and cook on a grill mostly buried in the snow. lol. That grill pan makes some damn good steaks on the stove top.

  17. I have a 5 day weekend starting tomorrow. If anyone feels like getting on a game, BF4, Guild Wars 2, Destiny, send me a text. :D

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Knock out those last few levels tomorrow and lets do a Tequatl run :P We can travel around Sparkfly Fin and see how you hold up against the Risen in that area.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

If you decide to play some BF4 just drop me a text as I usually won't play it on days I work unless I have someone to play with.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Cool. I think I might be able to survive Tequatl now. :D I'll play some BF4 this weekend, I'll send you a text when I do.

  18. I hate winter. Its -10 outside right now not counting windchill.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Welcome to the last week and a half of my life. We're finally warming up out here in the boonies.

    2. DeathscytheX

"I should have known! The Sons of Svanir have turned to Jormag's influence for power! Destroy that foul dragon totem!" XD

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

      Lol. XD

I hear yeah strider. I wish it was summer already.

  19. I saw the best comeback ever in a Silverwastes map.. 2 of the breach champs were taken out with literally 1 second left on the clock and got us the win.. then after loosing a vinewrath champ fight and the north base going down to only 2 sieges left.. we pulled a victory out of our asses. :D

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

That would have just pissed me off. XD

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I almost mapped out twice to finish my daily, but I was glad I stuck around. :P

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Nothing irritates me more than mid boss failing. It's such an easy fight that people make harder than necessary.

  20. I went to buffalo wild wings for lunch for the first time in over 15 years. I had a burger with Pico de gallo and a bunch of other toppings including prime rib shavings. delicious. :D that burger was easily as good as what I'd get at 5 guys.

    1. Eppy

      Eppy

mmmm went there for my birthday dinner...so tasty love the sauce selection

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I like how they have an employee that will bring out all the sauces to try out. I passed on the spicy ones. I didn't want to burn my taste buds before trying the food.

    3. Eppy
  21. I've really been slacking lately.. I didn't even make my usual april fools posts. -_-; Now that I'm not playing GW2 every free second, work overtime has kicked in and I've been spending more time offline. Its been nice, but I feel like I'm so far behind on so many things.. I'm 5 chapters behind on Fairy Tail too.. nooooo!

    1. Eppy

      Eppy

      tsk tsk tsk

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I caught up on fairy tail at least. :P

    3. Eppy

      Eppy

      I'd hope so!

  22. I got a letter this weekend "Welcome to your mandatory jury duty" I can never understand why jury duty is mandatory but voting isn't.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I'd welcome jury duty because my job pays me for the shifts I miss in full, and I get to sit in a comfortable chair all day. Plus the court pays me for travel. :P

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

My job will pay me too, my problem is the location of the court house downtown. I'll have to pay for parking too unless they give me a discounted rate when I get there. -_- I'll find out in a couple weeks if I'll have to serve our not. Id rather do my regular job. :P

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Because jury duty is more important then voting. Heh, I got summoned last year but luckily they settled out of court so I didn't have to go. I would of went but it's hard to serve on a jury when you work nights, I'd of had to switch my whole schedule around for $25 a day plus my normal wages at work. Wouldn't of been worth it.

  23. Woke up this morning sick and thought I had salmonella poising.. All my symptoms have cleared up throughout the day, but I still have vertigo when I lay down.. wtf. x_x

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Sounds like you need some meclozine.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

It could be a inner ear issue that is balancing itself out... its crazy how an ear problem can wreck your shit and make you feel like you're dying. I had minor vertigo for 3 months and I thought I was dying.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lady has some of those pills from her last inner ear infection and they do help. It's crazy how some horrible this dizziness can make me feel. X_x

  24. I want to buy battlefront, but if I only have enough cash for one game, I'll end up buying Starcraft 2 legacy of the void. That campaign is calling to me.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

No matter what, your time will be consumed by the hunt for the fractal tonic! X'D

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Heh, I'm only one mission in but I'd definitely say it's the better choice. Then again Battlefront is out on Tuesday and that's probably all I'll be doing from then on.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That damn fractal tonic. I'm saving all my fractal daily chests for the december drop table update. x_x Starcraft, fractal tonic, battlefront... I feel like i'm being torn into 3 directions. well, i would feel like that if i had the money to buy those 2 games. Instead i'll be torn in 2 directions. New puppy and fractal tonic. XD
