  1. I started playing KOTOR last night. I kept running around trying to dodge enemy fire only to realize my guy wouldn't shoot his damn blaster.. after about 4 enemy encounters I realized I was doing combat completely wrong. -_-

      How good is it?

I'm not that far into it, but its definitely enjoyable. Its like an interactive novel. It took me a while to get through the initial character creation and reading the tutorials. I'm used to action games and this game requires more patience. I only played Dungeons and Dragons a handful of times so it took me a little while to understand the in game explanations for stats and how attacks/dodges and everything else is calculated.

My first ball I had to have a thumb insert because the dude wasn't very good at what he did when he drilled it for me. I found a better guy who did really good work, and he did it for fun rather than the first guy that owned the shop at the bowling alley. I'd have to use an insert on those balls now because my thumb is no longer swollen to that size from constant bowling. XD

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Thumb inserts are still uncomfortable to me either way.

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I agree.. I'd still get a sore thumb at the end of the day. but that pop sound was hilarious. It was like I was popping a champagne bottle every couple minutes. XD Those thumb saver little sleaves that you put over your thumb sucked even worse. It wouldn't stop the rubbing and I had one that gripped too good and kept sliding off into the thumb insert.

  3. I finished "Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet" on netflix last night. The first episode was some of the best mech anime I've ever seen. I wish the entire series was like the first episode. Then it turned into a 'slice-of-life' anime for about 7 episodes. -_-; After an unnerving loli dance scene in which every guy over 40 was drunk and wooing at 10 year old girls dancing I was done with it (seriously japan? is this what japanese men want? wtf.). But then I looked at the episode descriptions for the final episodes and I stuck with it. The final 3 eps were great and had good action. If you want to see some good mech battles, watch the first and last 3 or 4 eps of this series. All the episodes in between are just filler crap to establish some sense of loyalty between the mech pilot and the group of people on the gargantia. And of course to forge a typical anime relationship of: "i love this guy i just met and even tho we've only known each other for less than 2 weeks, you need to stay with us for life!"

The amusement park ep of Haganai season two was so hilarious. XD I think the harem worked because Kodaka wasn't a mega perv and outside of Rika there was very little sexual frustration. Plus fan service was limited. The show stayed focused on the story and each character's plight.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

You gotta remember Sledge the Slice of Life genre is pretty much the "Cute girls doing cute things" genre so high school aged characters will always be present (and generally cute girls as mentioned). I guess that doesn't draw that many people in but it does me and I do understand the frustration of it being focused on this age group (it's why I have a hatred of harem series). My all time favorite series falls into this genre, Aria (I can't recommend this series enough. It's not everyone's cup of tea but the show is amazing (so is the manga), has amazing character development (but it is centered around high school age girls), and the art and music is just amazing. I re-watch this series at least twice a year (by far one of the best purchases I've made anime wise)). Plus you also have to realize that these shows are aimed at high schoolers and the Japanese Otaku hence why we see so many shows featuring protagonists around that age category (for some reason it's a major hit over there, so are idol based anime (which I can't understand why it's important, then again the Japanese have a thing with idol worship). They don't care what us Americans have to say on the subject as anime isn't as big over here as it was back in the Toonami era (original run). Anime fandom has died down over here (though it has been seeing a resurgence in the last 2-3 years but it'll never be as big as it was originally).

Heh, I started reading Berserk like 4 years ago but I haven't made it past volume 9 yet. While its a great read (and I do plan on reading the rest of what I have (up to volume 35)) I doubt he'll ever finish it (much like Five Star Stories, I don't think that manga will ever end (it was on a 10 year or so hiatus and the creator just started picking it up again recently). It's one of the longest running manga's to date time wise (13 volumes so far and it started in 1986)). Then again I don't think Rei Hiroe will ever finish Black Lagoon (it's been stuck at volume 10 for like 2 years (pretty much right after the Roberta's Blood Trail arc, which is so much better in the manga. The anime adaptation of it didn't do Roberta any justice)).

I've got a dislike for HorribleSubs and only really use them if I have no choice (I'm not a fan of Crunchyroll's translations which is what Horrible uses for their releases). I'll probably pick that torrent up but god knows when I'm going to have time to sit down and watch 700 episodes (then again I'll probably only pick up the Marineford Arc. I haven't read or seen it but I've seen so many character tribute videos and music videos about this arc that I want to see it in it's entirety. I really want to see Whitebeard kick some ass (I don't know why but I seriously like this character though I know very little about him)).

That was a great episode XD Honestly Kodaka was a great change from the normal protagonist you usually get in harem shows. Down to earth, slightly pervy, and all around great guy who generally cares for his friends well being (I find it funny that he's pretty much a homemaker). If it wasn't for Rika I don't think the show would really have any sexual frustration or fan service (yea Sena still provides plenty of it but Rika is by far the worst for it). Then again the show wouldn't be the same without her if they took her out. My major draw to the show when I started watching it was the sad premise it had, grouping up people who have no friends or social skills. Not only did it provide some great humor (good god the ideas for how to make friends were hilarious) it provided a look into the anti-social tendencies most children and teenagers face these days.

    4. Sledgstone

If you have the Berserk manga, I'd still definitely recommend reading it. But dive in knowing you'll never get an ending and you won't be as disappointed. There are quite a few arcs that see full completion in those volumes so it is a great read. The tower of conviction arc (i think thats what it is) was the best part of the series to me. And I just found out that arc will be in the new anime. That will probably spawn alot of new fans of the series, but will cause even more disappointment when all the new fans learn they'll never get an ending, or even at a minimum finally see Casca become sane again. Many people only think of Berserk from the original anime with a messed up ending. But the band of the hawk arc that was in the anime is nothing compared to the rest of the series. The Berserker armor the show is named after has never even been in the anime or anime movies.

If you want to pick and choose some good One Piece to watch, I highly recommend the marineford arc, then keep watching the eps after because thats when the time skip occurs. The fishman island arc after that was great too because it shows an entire new culture.. and alot of mermaids. :P

  4. World versus World in Guild Wars 2 is fun again. I've played a little over an hour a night for the last 2 nights and I haven't had that much fun in WvW since I was power leveling my second character almost 3 years ago. I think I'll upload a video later tomorrow. The zerg rushes are real. XD I saved a couple videos but the one I really wanted didn't save for some reason. We had a full on battle of 3 armies, so epic. XD

You must have gotten on after I quit out last night. I was about to give up playing any WvW but then I saw Cloud Fly logged on, so I camped at a waypoint with him and waited about 15 mins for a zerg to form. Best hour of WvW I've ever had. :D I took a couple videos and I'll check them later and upload. Epic battles. Because there was no queue on any of the borderlands at the time, we kept swapping between each of the borderlands annihilating enemy zergs thanks to the scouts we had in place. XD

Resistance works great on warrior in pvp when I need to pop it. It makes you immune to condi damage but does not cleanse the condi from you. You can always tell when resistance is on because its represented as three glowing orbs all tethered together circling around you. Its another reason why healing signet is so strong on warrior. The constant HP regen is amazing, but then if you get condi bombed, you pop healing signet for the heal and the resistance, then use endure pain to negate physical damage while healing signet comes off cool down to resume regen healing. I don't know what skills or traits rev has for resistance but a rev can share that resistance with an entire group which can make them extremely useful in wvw.

I don't know how in the hell Cloud Fly survives as much as he does in WvW. Hes running bersker with healing signet, hammer and sword/(torch i think?). Sword is condi for warrior and hammer is all CC. I need to find out what his build is. If hes running with berserker stats then he must be using the defense trait line for the traited endure pain and extra healing regen traits. That guy is impressive as all hell in WvW.

He must have a good network of scouts on discord because he always knows where to go to stop the enemies from taking the keeps and where the enemy siege is when we take something. The Borderland hoping was great. After we crushed them on FABL, they came back again and we destroyed them and then chased the rest across the map killing more to teach them a lesson. XD we were even killing them in the water. I'm glad you got to experience his commanding. That food he drops helps too with the 20% less damage from condi and when stunned.

    4. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That food was useful and it surprised me how beneficial it was. My video card capture software does not like wvw. One of my videos saved with no audio. One didn't finish encoding and is unwatchable and all my videos since the windows 10 creators update has been full of endless stutter issues. 😒 the stuttering might be because of wvw causing to much strain on my cpu tho. Either that or its a strain on my hard drive read/ write. I'll have to take a couple videos of pvp to see if it's just a wvw issue for me.

lol. So I ended up getting new lenses. I might try contacts at some point. Glasses don't bother so much considering that I'm nearsighted. If I couldn't focus on objects at arm length, I'd have to wear contacts because I couldn't imagine only being able to focus through the small field of vision my glasses offer.

lmao. Yeah.. its the digital channels with the cable boxes that increase the cost. Two cable boxes cost $8.95 a month a piece and $5.99 a month for modem. Thats $20+ added to my account right there. The digital package channels are good.. but not really considering I watch less than half the channels. 200+ channels and I only really watch about 70.

  10. After 2 days into the new GW2 pvp league system I've decided to stop trying for this legendary back piece. I'll still do a pvp round here and there for my dungeon reward track, but the 3 matches per day requirement, the horrible balance, 50/50 forced win loss ratio and queue times.. its just not worth the time investment. I could make 2 other regular legendaries in the same span of time.

      Strider Hiryu

Eh, I can't really complain but I did enjoy having unlimited data. I used to tether off my phone in areas I couldn't get an internet connection on my laptop, can't do that anymore since 2 gigs would be used up in under 30 minutes most days. Ohwell, it's the price of not wanting to pay full price for my phone.

Its still a huge difference from 7 but it's nothing like the disaster that was regular windows 8.       Honestly no, it's all hypocrisy. We could have a lotto if it went to schools. People are more open to it now. The problem is every time there is a proposal, the government wants it to go into the state general fund... So they can fatten their pockets. So when it gets voted down they do the "the people have spoken and don't want a lotto". -_-;

There is plenty of titty bars and porn/adult toy shops around here. Honestly I don't know how they stay in business when you can order everything discretely online. There was a Asian brothel across from the mall for 20 years running as a "massage parlor". It even had an ad in the paper when newspapers were still viable. XD everyone knew it was a whore house, but I heard they use to give a lot of inside information to law enforcement so they turned a blind eye. A few months ago it closed down and a ton of Asians showed up in the crook book with all the mug shots. I don't know if they do that in your state, but we even have a Facebook page called "Arrested in Mobile" that posts all the mug shots as they get booked. XD

That's the problem he'll face being low level. If he doesn't mind the same map over and over get him into a Metro only server with 400% tickets. It's an awesome way to level quickly but you'll have to contend with 130's and above. It's all I play now when I get on

Ah that's a good point. I'll get him in one of those rounds next time.

  25. I got the Galaxy S7 today. Bestbuy has a good deal this weekend. $49 with 2 year contract with Verizon and free wireless charger. So far I'm impressed with the quality of the phone over my old S4. I haven't tried the wireless charger yet. I doubt I'll use it much and I have a feeling it won't work correctly with the otter box case I'm using.

25 hours after my first charge and I'm down to 13% battery. I've been using this phone all day to. My old phone would have needed to charge over 12 hours ago. Not bad.

I keep my phone usage to a minimum if possible and only really use it to check email, Twitter, and Instagram when I'm not home near a charger (and my computer) hence why I tend to get good battery life out of my phones. If I actually did what I've been doing over the last three months of being unemployed I'd probably have to charge it three times a day (I've been playing a lot of mobile games and I mean a lot). Signal strength around here is hit or miss but we've got two 4G towers in the area and Verizon has pretty good coverage out here in Western ND (the only one, AT&T sucks out here and Sprint/T-Mobile don't even have coverage in my area) but my old Droid Bionic had a hard time getting a connection which really drained my battery while I was at work (for some reason Walmart out here was like a dead zone for that phone).

I use Samsung's built in app/task killing service now. I used to use TasKiller on my old phones that did a good job but since the last major Android update (not the newest one where my phone switched to Marshmallow) it fucked that app up and it doesn't work anymore. Samsung's service does a damn good job of keeping my battery life up (plus I have my phone in power saving mode and have my screen brightness turned almost all the way down) and actually kills the right apps/tasks, where TasKiller liked to kill everything. I honestly don't know what Samsung phones have the service built in (I'm assuming everything from the Note 4 up but I'm not entirely sure) but I'm assuming yours might (unless it's a Note only feature but I highly doubt that).

I dug into everything installed on my S7 and for some damn reason Verizon removed the "smart manager" samsung app from their build. Wtf Verizon. -_-; after looking in YouTube it's the exact app I would prefer to use for battery optimization and Verizon doesn't have it available. I do like the fact that bloatware is very minimal on this phone. My S4 had so much pre-installed crap that was only disableable and not Uninstallable that those apps would take up way to much space and would run in the background all the time. But this S7 only had 1 app I had to disable  (NFL), aside from that all the "galaxy essential" apps are located in a widget and it gives me the option to actually download and install them now instead of having it all preloaded. I looked thru those apps and there isn't a single thing I want except maybe the Samsung video player. It's nice to have a boy more control over my phone, but then I see the smart manager was removed. Ehhh. These companies are trying to encourage ppl to not root their phones and install a custom / unbranded android OS by not having shit tons of preloaded apps, but they need to keep all default apps available to. I hate knowing there are great features available for my model of phone.. but not mine specifically.
