  1. I ended up spending my entire weekend cleaning my basement. Theres a good chance I might be moving to a different house in a month or so and I wanted to make sure the move would go smooth. Its amazing how much junk accumulates in a basement. I was planning on playing some gw2 this weekend.. and it never happened. XD

      DeathscytheX

Well at least you did it this weekend and not the Beta. Maybe at your new house, Fed Ex will deliver to the correct house. XD

That would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it with them. XD

  2. I finally got the rarest tonic in Guild Wars 2. The Endless Fractal Tonic. :D That damn thing has such horrible RNG that I feel like I should go buy a lotto ticket right now. XD Its rarity is easily the same as having a precursor drop and after a year of trying to get it I gave up for 6 months. Then over the past month I started playing fractals again, finished my legendary back piece and then got this tonic.. I felt like I had a heart attack when I saw it in my inventory. XD I'll make a video of it later this week. :D

You videos when from barely audible to loud as fuck. XD 50% PC volume and it almost blew my ear drums out. XDXDXD

XD I don't know what volume settings are supposed to be normal for recording a video so once I figured out how to set it for max I left it there. XD I can't watch my videos on my phone without turning the volume down. XD

  3. I finally got the time to do some stuff again. I hope it lasts. I finished Stranger Things season 3 which was great and I got multiple hours in GW2. I almost have my 2 large festival achievements done for the big chests. :D After that I'm going for my skyscale and warclaw mounts.

And I need to get caught up on my youtube backlog. Theres some topics on AC here I want to reply too but everything is a youtube video. lol. I'll dedicate an hour to that later today if I can pull away from GW2 and swimming in my pool. :D

  4. I finally maxed out the mastery points on my Guild Wars 2 account.. except for the raid masteries. Now theres nothing holding me back from making a Heart of Thorns legendary except for currencies. :D

I wonder if the new Kryta map will have Core MP so I can cheese it to finish legendary crafting instead of the map mastery XD.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Watch that new map mastery be absolutely necessary to get around the map like in Ember Bay. XD In hindsight the Kodan Mastery wasn't actually necessary at all to accomplish everything in the Bitterfrost map. You could have used those MP with no problem. XD

  5. I finished "Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet" on netflix last night. The first episode was some of the best mech anime I've ever seen. I wish the entire series was like the first episode. Then it turned into a 'slice-of-life' anime for about 7 episodes. -_-; After an unnerving loli dance scene in which every guy over 40 was drunk and wooing at 10 year old girls dancing I was done with it (seriously japan? is this what japanese men want? wtf.). But then I looked at the episode descriptions for the final episodes and I stuck with it. The final 3 eps were great and had good action. If you want to see some good mech battles, watch the first and last 3 or 4 eps of this series. All the episodes in between are just filler crap to establish some sense of loyalty between the mech pilot and the group of people on the gargantia. And of course to forge a typical anime relationship of: "i love this guy i just met and even tho we've only known each other for less than 2 weeks, you need to stay with us for life!"

The amusement park ep of Haganai season two was so hilarious. XD I think the harem worked because Kodaka wasn't a mega perv and outside of Rika there was very little sexual frustration. Plus fan service was limited. The show stayed focused on the story and each character's plight.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

You gotta remember Sledge the Slice of Life genre is pretty much the "Cute girls doing cute things" genre so high school aged characters will always be present (and generally cute girls as mentioned). I guess that doesn't draw that many people in but it does me and I do understand the frustration of it being focused on this age group (it's why I have a hatred of harem series). My all time favorite series falls into this genre, Aria (I can't recommend this series enough. It's not everyone's cup of tea but the show is amazing (so is the manga), has amazing character development (but it is centered around high school age girls), and the art and music is just amazing. I re-watch this series at least twice a year (by far one of the best purchases I've made anime wise)). Plus you also have to realize that these shows are aimed at high schoolers and the Japanese Otaku hence why we see so many shows featuring protagonists around that age category (for some reason it's a major hit over there, so are idol based anime (which I can't understand why it's important, then again the Japanese have a thing with idol worship). They don't care what us Americans have to say on the subject as anime isn't as big over here as it was back in the Toonami era (original run). Anime fandom has died down over here (though it has been seeing a resurgence in the last 2-3 years but it'll never be as big as it was originally).

Heh, I started reading Berserk like 4 years ago but I haven't made it past volume 9 yet. While its a great read (and I do plan on reading the rest of what I have (up to volume 35)) I doubt he'll ever finish it (much like Five Star Stories, I don't think that manga will ever end (it was on a 10 year or so hiatus and the creator just started picking it up again recently). It's one of the longest running manga's to date time wise (13 volumes so far and it started in 1986)). Then again I don't think Rei Hiroe will ever finish Black Lagoon (it's been stuck at volume 10 for like 2 years (pretty much right after the Roberta's Blood Trail arc, which is so much better in the manga. The anime adaptation of it didn't do Roberta any justice)).

I've got a dislike for HorribleSubs and only really use them if I have no choice (I'm not a fan of Crunchyroll's translations which is what Horrible uses for their releases). I'll probably pick that torrent up but god knows when I'm going to have time to sit down and watch 700 episodes (then again I'll probably only pick up the Marineford Arc. I haven't read or seen it but I've seen so many character tribute videos and music videos about this arc that I want to see it in it's entirety. I really want to see Whitebeard kick some ass (I don't know why but I seriously like this character though I know very little about him)).

That was a great episode XD Honestly Kodaka was a great change from the normal protagonist you usually get in harem shows. Down to earth, slightly pervy, and all around great guy who generally cares for his friends well being (I find it funny that he's pretty much a homemaker). If it wasn't for Rika I don't think the show would really have any sexual frustration or fan service (yea Sena still provides plenty of it but Rika is by far the worst for it). Then again the show wouldn't be the same without her if they took her out. My major draw to the show when I started watching it was the sad premise it had, grouping up people who have no friends or social skills. Not only did it provide some great humor (good god the ideas for how to make friends were hilarious) it provided a look into the anti-social tendencies most children and teenagers face these days.

If you have the Berserk manga, I'd still definitely recommend reading it. But dive in knowing you'll never get an ending and you won't be as disappointed. There are quite a few arcs that see full completion in those volumes so it is a great read. The tower of conviction arc (i think thats what it is) was the best part of the series to me. And I just found out that arc will be in the new anime. That will probably spawn alot of new fans of the series, but will cause even more disappointment when all the new fans learn they'll never get an ending, or even at a minimum finally see Casca become sane again. Many people only think of Berserk from the original anime with a messed up ending. But the band of the hawk arc that was in the anime is nothing compared to the rest of the series. The Berserker armor the show is named after has never even been in the anime or anime movies.

If you want to pick and choose some good One Piece to watch, I highly recommend the marineford arc, then keep watching the eps after because thats when the time skip occurs. The fishman island arc after that was great too because it shows an entire new culture.. and alot of mermaids. :P

  6. I finished reading LoTR The Two Towers a couple weeks ago after taking a long long break on reading it. It felt like Frodo and Sam were walking forever to Mordor. That part was so long and boring. -_-; I'm glad its over with. When they finally got attacked by the spider I was thankful something was actually happening. Now I'm reading Return of the King and my god this is moving at such a better pace. The attack on Gondor is happening now. After I'm done with this book I'm going to re-watch the entire movie trilogy again.

      Sledgstone

Lol. I've watched all the LoTR and Hobbit movies multiple, multiple times. XD Mostly because of them being on movie channels on TV when there is nothing else on, I'll put on one these while going to sleep. XD Although, I will never watch the last movie all the way through anymore. All those ending scenes are too much for me. XD

The Helm's Deep battle was definitely better in the book. I have high hopes for the battle of Gondor, so far its awesome. :D

  7. I finished reading The Hobbit for the first time. Great book but I definitely liked the movies more. It's amazing how they took 40 pages at the end of the book about the battle of the five armies and turned it into an entire 2 1/2 hour movie. Lol. Gandalf didn't seem as powerful as he was in the movies but close enough. But the dwarves in the book were nothing like in the movies. The dwarves hardly fought at all in the book until the very end. They often relied on Gandalf or Bikbo to save them in every situation. Wtf. But the biggest difference I  the book compared to the movies was that Bilbo told them all about the ring. Lol. It wasn't even a secret. They were shocked at first but then he used it constantly.. he even had it on for a solid 2 weeks while the dwarves were imprisoned buy the elves. O_O

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I bet if I'd have read the book years ago before seeing the recent movies I'd have liked the book more because it would have been established for me. I got the entire hobbit/LoTR book collection during an amazon sale a year ago. I've just recently started reading them all. I'm on book one of LoTR now.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Good luck with that, out of all the LOTR books Fellowship is an extremely boring read (even though it has one of my favorite characters in it). It has it's high points but it drags on for what feels like forever (Moria is about the only high point of the whole book).

Honestly if I'd of seen the movies first I'd probably be looking at it the same way as you. I power read the LOTR books a month before the first movie came out and then read The Hobbit about a month after said movie came out (that was back when I was reading a new book like ever other week (I miss those days when I had the free time to read, now books just pile up and I never seem to get around to reading them)).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear that about free time. Most of my reading takes place in the bathroom. XD Or when the power is out or I'm stuck in some waiting room and I remembered to bring my book. I used to read on every one of my lunch breaks but I haven't done that in over a year, so it takes me quite a bit longer to read a book now. Took me about a month to read the Hobbit.

  8. I finished watching 13 Reasons Why on netflix and it was depressing. Great acting, good plot. I recommend watching it. It really gives good insight on depression and suicide while showing signs to look for in friends. The premise of the show is that a girl kills herself but she left 13 tapes she recorded, one for each person that wronged her, the tapes are passed to each person until they make it to all of them. In the show, we follow one of the characters as he listens to all the tapes, while having flashbacks of the events that lead up to her death. Its very depressing to see how 1 conversation from just a handful of people at the right moment could have changed her mind. I have a feeling this will become one of those series that becomes popular for a generation, like how Breakfast Club was, because it tackles emotional issues.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Pretty grim comparison X_X. I don't know if I'll watch this or not. I see everyone talking about it, but I've heard and read enough of these stories, I don't feel the need to watch ti portrayed on film. I remember all those PSA shorts back in the 80s, perticularly one about playing with firearms, where a kid shoots his brother in the head after finding their dad's gun and playing with it like a toy.

Depression is an interesting complication, because its a fairly new diagnosed disease. I'm sure its always existed, but not at the levels it does in today's society. Part of it is the meds big pharam likes to pump into us, another part is the bullshit they pump into our food, and another part of it is just how our society acts now. We're so digitized, no one really knows how to communicate in person anymore. I was out for my Sister's b-day last weekend and observed a prom couple that stayed on their phones when they weren't shoving food in their mouth. They didn't seem to ever hold a conversation. People need human interaction, but its easier when you're behind a keyboard. Toys, and imagination have been replaced by a tablet... thats gotta nerf the brain's cognitive development somehow.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I still recommend watching the series because of how they portrayed the the people that wronged her. The majority of those 13 people had no idea their actions directly contributed to her decision to commit suicide until they heard the tapes and understood. And that portrayal of how these individuals came to understand what they did is a great part of the show. Something else occurs thats not stated outright, but it reinforces something I read and heard psychiatrist's talk about in shows.. many people who commit suicide don't discuss the fact that they are going to do it. The ones that do usually want to be talked down from that ledge.

Too many people think they have depression when they're really just extremely sad for a period of time. Doctors might misdiagnose it as depression to (I honestly don't think the diagnosis should be called depression since its a common term for being sad). But full on depression is something that, once set in place, will last for years or end in suicide. In some people its purely an emotional issue but in others its a physical issue. Some doctors don't want to do a proper diagnosis and they just throw anti-depression meds at their patients and assume they'll get over it. In the case of 13 reasons why, its a full emotional breakdown that causes her depression. In some parts of the show I felt that it was a little cliche, like how much drama can one teenager keep getting involved in? But it was a perfect storm scenario. All the things that could happen to keep pushing her off that ledge continued happening like a domino effect.

I agree about the human interaction. Some people can compensate for their illnesses or disabilities by having access to a digital means of communicating with other humans, but the majority of people that have nothing holding them back really need to put the damn phone or tablet down and talk with people. I've seen way too many kids with their faces stuck to a phone playing short attention span games with limited play times. I swear that smart phone games are teaching an entire generation to be ADHD.

  9. I finished watching Star Wars Clone Wars the animated series. I find it hard to believe that Disney kept this as canon. There were a handful of episodes that literally seem to throw alot of movie canon right out the window. I'll have to post a topic about it once I get some references together. I'm trying to catch up on everything that is considered actual true canon now in the new Star Wars universe and this clone wars series really boggles my mind with some of the really dumb things that happened. Overall it was a great series tho and had so much killing in it for a kids show. holy crap. There were even some decapitations. Surprised the hell out of me for a kid's cartoon. XD

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Never could actually get into this show and from what little I've seen and heard about (watch a lot of Star Wars youtube videos) it is quite funny how this is cannon (then again Lucas declared it canon when he still had control over it). I hear Rebels is quite out there too (again wouldn't know since I haven't watched it).

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I know they visit Malachor in rebels and refer to the events mentioned KOTOR 2 about the Jedi civil war. Funny since what was left of the planet was destroyed at the end of the game.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I started watching Rebels when it first came out but then missed enough eps that I dropped it before the first season ended. I'll watch it again to see how the canon is treated in it. One thing I remember being incredibly dumb is the slingshot energy weapon the kid had. Why have a slingshot that you have to manually pull to shoot when a blaster is 1000% more efficient, is faster to fire, takes up the same amount of space and can be used with one hand? So stupid. lol.

  10. I finished watching The Shannara Chronicles on netflix last night. That was a great Lord of the Rings style series that I never heard about until I saw it on netflix. And it was made by MTV. wtf. Thats like having CMT make a new Battlestar Galacta series. No wonder I never heard of this show. If you like the fantasy genre, I recommend it. Elves, humans, dwarves, gnomes, trolls and demons all exist in a far off future earth long after the time of man. Magic is big in this and it even has it's own version of Gandalf.

  11. I finished watching Westworld yesterday and I'm impressed. Its probably one of the best scifi series of the year. Its really a show about NPCs and the management of NPCs in a real life video game. Interesting concept. And I had no idea it was a remake of an old 1973 movie made by Michael Crichton.

  12. I got a new phone. Galaxy S20 FE. I bought it from best buy with an early black Friday sale. $350 with my Verizon plan. I'll pay $15 a month for it for 2 years. I just got it in the mail but I'm not going to activate it until monday when ladys phone gets here, she got the same phone except different color. I read it had a touch screen issue that was fixed with a patch. Hopefully I don't have any issues with the phone. It looks like a significant upgrade over my old galaxy s7.

    1. slippers

      slippers

i use i-blason case. in the past i dropped it like a couple times on a cement floor with no noticeable damage so its pretty sturdy. you already ordreded yours but i-blason also have a case for your galaxy s20 under $20. check it out if your other case doesnt work out. for a better cover, a tool pouch/phone holster works well too if you dont like your phone exposed when you have it clipped on to your belt or front pocket.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I might have to look into the phone holster. I was going to activate the phone today but I got it out of the case and I'm hesitant to use this thing without a case on it. My luck is horrible, if I start using this thing, I'm sure I'll drop it by accident and crack the screen. I'll just wait 4 more days for the case to get delivered first.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

My case arrived early and I got my new phone activated. :D This is a huge upgrade over my s7. Way nicer camera too. Whats interesting is I looked at i-blason's website but they didn't have a galaxy s20 fe case. They have plenty of s20 cases, but the fe is a different size and none would fit. But I got my supcase cases in the mail and the return address was for i-blason. wtf. lol. I guess supcase is a company of i-blason. The case appears to be damn good quality. My phone has a protective screen on it from the manufacturer so I left that on for now. I did buy a couple film screen protectors off amazon that already arrived. I never knew there were tempered glass screen protectors until the other day. Those look decent but some people say they don't let the s20 FE thumb print scanner work correctly. I might just take this film protector off anyway because my case has a built in one anyway. I also saw some people like to use a tempered glass protector over the camera lenses, but it messes up photos unless the flash is used. I could understand using a protector, but I don't think I'll get one just for the camera lenses. My case is big enough that the camera area won't be touching any surfaces when I sit the phone down so that should be good enough.

  13. I got a root canal today. F*ck that. Took 1.5 hours this morning. The tooth wasn't cracked so it didn't have to be pulled. But he had to cut a couple millimeters off my jaw line in between the 2 teeth so a crown could get properly mounted. The inside of my jaw looks totally jacked right now. And he accidentally cut the base of my tongue because I guess I moved it by accident. That hurts more than the jaw right now. I have a temp filling in the tooth and it the tooth looks like a square. I have to let this heal for almost a month before I can get a crown molded for it. Fml.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear ya. He put a bite block in my mouth so it would force it to stay open. My old dentist wanted me to go to a specialist that was a solid 50 minute drive from my house and wasn't covered by my insurance. I couldn't afford that. My insurance did cover me with aspen dental so I went to the one that was 15 minutes from my house. I hated the aspen dental I went to 10 years ago but this was a different newer location and everyone seemed much more competent. So far so good and I seem to be healing.

My jaw and tooth hurt but it's nothing compared to the initial infection that actually killed the tooth. That was a brutal 3 weeks. I couldn't let any fluid touch that side of my mouth or it'd trigger a mini migraine.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Oof, yea that initial infection is a bitch. My tooth literally collapsed on itself (when I was younger my mother insisted on sealants so the tooth literally decayed under the sealant until it couldn't handle anymore pressure and cracked).so when the infection hit I couldn't do anything that was hot or cold. If it wasn't room temp it was going to be intense pain. That is until I found to wonder that is Orajel, good god is that stuff amazing (for the initial 4 hours, once it wears off it's pain city all over again).

Yea, I had to go to a specialist since my dentist wouldn't do root canals. Weirded the hell out of me since I thought dentists were supposed to do them, not oral surgeons. Then again with how incompetent my dentist was it was probably for the best she didn't do it (I've since changed dentists since she decided to start her own practice and I moved to the other one who actually ran the practice she was working at. Much more competent).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Orajel only worked for me for about 20 minutes. x_x The pain screamed right through the orajel which surprised the hell out of me. I think it was because the roots of that tooth was so crazy long.

  14. I got my new 1 tb external hard drive in the mail today. I have enough free space that I can now save more than 1 or 2 video clips of my games at a time without having to delete something. That was so annoying. x_x

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lol. I kept burning everything onto DVD-Rs for years, but now I have a massive case of dvds and its no longer feasible to burn things onto disk when I can buy a hard drive like the one I just got. Its smaller than my wallet and holds as much data as my entire case of dvdrs. I ran out of room to store things years ago which co-insides with when I stopped downloading everything. Sounds like we both horde too much digital stuff. XD

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

XD Sad thing is half of that is just anime and the sadder thing is I haven't watched half of the anime either (which is why I'm glad I got a CR sub, I'm whittling that down slowly now) . Oh I'm not even mentioning the stacks of DVD-R's and CD-R's I have with shit burned on them to help conserve space. I really do have a problem, maybe I should apply to be on that Hoarder's show (I wonder if they consider digital hording to be hording XD).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Digital hording is horrible for me. You should see my inventory on my guild wars 1 & 2 characters and every final fantasy game I've ever played. XD

    3. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Holy cow, mad conveniences. XD Although diswasher can be hit or miss. Ive had some where you could just rinse stuff off and toss it in. I have had others that you had to make sure you got every spec off each plate or else it would get dried to the bottom of all the cups on the top rack after the water jets blasted it off the plates into the cups. XD

  16. I got my new modem hooked up. Works good so far but I haven't tested BF1 yet. Hopefully I don't get any surprise NAT errors .

  17. I got the Galaxy S7 today. Bestbuy has a good deal this weekend. $49 with 2 year contract with Verizon and free wireless charger. So far I'm impressed with the quality of the phone over my old S4. I haven't tried the wireless charger yet. I doubt I'll use it much and I have a feeling it won't work correctly with the otter box case I'm using.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

25 hours after my first charge and I'm down to 13% battery. I've been using this phone all day to. My old phone would have needed to charge over 12 hours ago. Not bad.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

I keep my phone usage to a minimum if possible and only really use it to check email, Twitter, and Instagram when I'm not home near a charger (and my computer) hence why I tend to get good battery life out of my phones. If I actually did what I've been doing over the last three months of being unemployed I'd probably have to charge it three times a day (I've been playing a lot of mobile games and I mean a lot). Signal strength around here is hit or miss but we've got two 4G towers in the area and Verizon has pretty good coverage out here in Western ND (the only one, AT&T sucks out here and Sprint/T-Mobile don't even have coverage in my area) but my old Droid Bionic had a hard time getting a connection which really drained my battery while I was at work (for some reason Walmart out here was like a dead zone for that phone).

I use Samsung's built in app/task killing service now. I used to use TasKiller on my old phones that did a good job but since the last major Android update (not the newest one where my phone switched to Marshmallow) it fucked that app up and it doesn't work anymore. Samsung's service does a damn good job of keeping my battery life up (plus I have my phone in power saving mode and have my screen brightness turned almost all the way down) and actually kills the right apps/tasks, where TasKiller liked to kill everything. I honestly don't know what Samsung phones have the service built in (I'm assuming everything from the Note 4 up but I'm not entirely sure) but I'm assuming yours might (unless it's a Note only feature but I highly doubt that).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I dug into everything installed on my S7 and for some damn reason Verizon removed the "smart manager" samsung app from their build. Wtf Verizon. -_-; after looking in YouTube it's the exact app I would prefer to use for battery optimization and Verizon doesn't have it available. I do like the fact that bloatware is very minimal on this phone. My S4 had so much pre-installed crap that was only disableable and not Uninstallable that those apps would take up way to much space and would run in the background all the time. But this S7 only had 1 app I had to disable  (NFL), aside from that all the "galaxy essential" apps are located in a widget and it gives me the option to actually download and install them now instead of having it all preloaded. I looked thru those apps and there isn't a single thing I want except maybe the Samsung video player. It's nice to have a boy more control over my phone, but then I see the smart manager was removed. Ehhh. These companies are trying to encourage ppl to not root their phones and install a custom / unbranded android OS by not having shit tons of preloaded apps, but they need to keep all default apps available to. I hate knowing there are great features available for my model of phone.. but not mine specifically.

  18. I hate FedEx. Their tracking is crap and they've delivered my packages to my neighbors before. -_-; As long as my graphics card works, the first thing I'll try out is GW2, then Starcraft 2. I purposefully stopped playing SC2 last month because I was hating the low graphic setting and FPS drops. Once I see it in max settings, I'll marathon the hell out of it in my free time.

UPS is so much better now that I get text messages indicating when the product is delivered so I know when to look on my neighbors porch for my products. Lol. They have gotten better over the years tho. They haven't screwed up a delivery of mine in 3 years now.

FedEx called me around noon asking where my house was because the driver couldn't see my house from the road even tho the number is visible on the front door from the street. -_-; at least that's better than when they dropped off my tv at the neighbors back door 4 years ago. I try and avoid FedEx at all cost.

This is why I prefer USPS, I've never had any trouble with them and always look for the option to ship with them when I can (plus priority shipping, while expensive, always arrives on time or earlier). I don't mind UPS but considering I don't get most of my packages until 7 or 8 pm when I use them it's rather annoying and can be a major inconvenience when it's something you really need. FedEx is a last ditch effort and I only use them when I know my friend is delivering it (he's a driver and he lets me know when he drops a package off if I'm not home).

I've tried to cancel orders from amazon once I realized they were shipping with FedEx. Every time I had the option to give feed back on packaging I'd complain like all hell against FedEx. Maybe it's just me but for the past couple years anything I've purchased from amazon and fulfilled by Amazon has only been shipped via ups or usps now. I like to think my complaining got me on a 'no FedEx' list. XD

  19. I installed a complicated ceiling fan yesterday. The light fixture was cheap and held in place by the ceiling drywall. I had to take it out, cut a larger hole in the ceiling, install a ceiling fan support brace and electric box.. But the real bitch was there were 4 electric lines running to this light fixture as a full junction box. I had to cut and strip 12 stiff as hell wires, and run an additional 3 wires to the ceiling fan. Also stuff all the insulation back into the ceiling while gagging on the particulates of it all in the air.. and jam all those wires into the small ass box. In the end it all worked out. Took me 6 hours. wtf. The other ceiling fans I've done for Lady's mom took me around 2 1/2 hours. 6 hours was a pain. I'll have to do it again for my office room. Same thing, 4 sets of wires, ceiling fan bracket, etc. I bet I could trim 1 hour off that 6 hours tho now that I wont have to stop to search for random answers to things again.

Got my other ceiling fan installed yesterday. Took me even longer than the first one. Wtf. 7 hours to install this. I'm pleased with the end result.

  20. I just beat StarCraft II Legacy of the Void. It was a great campaign and it ended well. Where the story went wasn't what I was expecting. With how it ended I doubt we'll get a StarCraft 3. I hope Blizzard doesn't MMO this game and screw up it's lore. Compared to Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void wasn't the most enjoyable. I definitely liked HoTS better. But I also can't play Protoss worth a damn unless I have a crap ton of carriers.

    1. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Pfft, at the rate I'm going I won't beat it until next year XD

If they eventually make a SC3, I'd like to see a fourth race introduced like how the undead army was added to Warcraft 3. They could bring the new species in from another galaxy or from the outer rim worlds or something.

Theres one plot hole I was surprised wasn't touched upon. At one point in HoTS, Kerrigan made a special queen to take over a Protoss ship and lost contact with it. The last time we saw that queen she was still on that Protoss ship spawning an army and was on it's way to Aiur to wage war against the Protoss. I kept expecting a mission to come up with us having to deal with that ship but it never happened.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

According to the plot summary on the SC wiki the ship is pretty much forgotten after that point (according to the ships profile it was left adrift). We can assume that they are either still adrift (Zerg don't have the means to use Protoss tech) or they fell under the control of Amon and were one of the millions of Zerg you slaughter through the LotV campaign. It's stated that the crew of the ship was unable to send any word to Shakuras (where they were heading) before the larvae spawned and killed the crew so it's extremely unlikely that Artanis even knows what happened and considering the dire circumstance you find yourself in throughout the game it's pretty unlikely that he would of even had the time to deal with it (I mean the poor guy is leading the remnants of his people in a war against a god-like being who can turn his own people against him).

While a fourth race would be interesting (considering all three races are currently at peace) I don't know if they'd go that far with this (I mean I'd of loved to see the Xel'naga be playable but we both know that isn't possible). Who knows what they'll do but I'd still like to see a game based on the Aeon of Strife, it'd not only be a game focused completely on my favorite race but it'd give us a chance to see how Protoss society collapsed upon itself.

  21. I just renewed the SSL certificate for the first time. That was pretty straight forward. I'll update the forum software soon too. Maybe this upcoming weekend. On a side note.. dentist appointment tomorrow for a sensitivity issue with a filling or two. Damn my crappy teeth. x_x

  22. I made a deal with a roofing company.. my roof repair is going to set me back a solid $1500.00 There goes my stimulus check plus some. I think I could have gotten a cheaper deal with a different company, but this guy does legit quality work. I figure you get what you pay for in most circumstances and this repair job will require replacing a small chunk of the roof, plywood and shingles at least 6x4, and blending new shingles in with existing ones and it'll come with a full warranty and guaranteed not to leak.

    1. slippers

      slippers

yeah it sucks. last year it was a water heater. this year it was a dryer. its always something to fix or replace. i got my stimulus last week but i barely break even, and not counting car maintenance/repairs etc. heres hoping for 2nd stimulus but texas is reopening this friday so i dont know. maybe lol. do u still live in that old place next to cemetery? i remember hurricane ike back in 2008, it did a pretty good damage on the roof and it took them a week to fix it. good thing it was covered bc it was close to 5 grand

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear ya, its like every week for me is paycheck to paycheck because something keeps coming up. My water heater freaking out in the middle of winter was a pain. I didn't have the money to replace it so I fixed it myself, I have a new dip tube ordered from amazon for it too then it should finally give me hot water longer than 8 minutes. x_x 5 grand to repair the roof.. damn. x_x Roofs are costly. x_x The roof guy gave me a quote for just over $10k for a new metal roof and an extra $6k for the garage. x_x One of these days I'll do that but finance it with a payment plan. We're leaning towards metal over shingles because it looks really nice and it'll be good for 50 years.

Nope, don't live there any more. We bought a house in October of 2018. :D We're about a 15 minute drive away from the old house we were renting. Its a single floor house with detached garage and we have 1.24 acres of privacy. :D I do miss the cemetery tho. But now I have woods surrounding the entire backyard so its nice.

Another stimulus would be amazing and helpful, but I don't think we'll get it. I think the state's will start forcing openings to get the economy going again because if they don't soon, the damage might be too big for alot of businesses to survive.

  23. I made my gift of bolt tonight. If I can't get this back piece within a week, I'll make bolt instead and give fractals a break for a while. Maybe the guild will start up a fractal night again or mix it in with a dungeon night.

I just need to run AC to make gift of lightning and I can toss everything into the forge. X_x I should be asleep, but I had to get artificer up to 400.. ugh the guide was so boring because all the potions. I blew all my laurels and karma to get the obsidian shards... I'm going to be dead broke in gold and mats for a while.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

You must have been up half the night leveling up that crafting. Even with the guides every crafting profession took me at least 2-3 hours each to level up. I still need to finish my last 2% of world completion to make bolt. I might just make it this weekend because as soon as I don't have a gift of fortune, thats when I'll get that last piece I need for the back piece and I'll have to wait 2 months to finish it. lol.

  24. I need to buy a lawn tractor soon.. maybe this weekend. The last lawn tractor I owned was a piece of crap hand me down that nickel and dimed me to death until I got rid of it and got a decent push mower instead. But my yard now has just over an entire acre of just grass. No way in hell I can push mow that. I might get a Cub Cadet or John Deere tractor. I need to see what might be on sale. I had the lawn mowed at the end of last year right when we moved in and its $40 per mow. x_x

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

I had a science teacher that had a goat, now that I think about it he had to mow grass too because he use to tell the class how he sent him out first and watched as he stepped into the hornets nests in the ground and got attacked. He knew where to avoid after that. What a dick. XD

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That's horrible. XD goats can be assholes to tho. At least the one I met at my aunt's. Lol.

I bought my new lawn tractor yesterday. Had to finance it like a mini car payment. I thought about getting a used one but I didn't want to get nickel and dimed to death by random constant repairs over the years.

  25. I never want to move again. Almost every day for the last week has been rain and it's raining even now. It's hard to believe how much stuff two ppl can accumulate over 18 year's until you have to move it all under a time restriction. -_-;
