  1. Cooking some pulled pork today. I'll finally try out that Battleborn beta and maybe the FFXV demo too.

  2. Dark Matter season 3 finale was tonight. The massive space battle scene was great and there is now a couple major plot lines going for season 4. This is one of the best scifi series Syfy has made in a long time. :D

  3. EA is still having problems with their servers this morning. I assumed this would all be fixed by now. -_- I guess I'll be finishing the campaign today and maybe playing some tomb raider.

      Of course all their Twitter accounts go dark. They post multiple times an hour until 10 hours ago. -_-;

  4. Even in the last couple chapters of Fairy Tail, people that just died are brought back to life again.. -_-; At least a main bad guy is getting a proper ending now with one last big fight. Only 5 chapters left. Knowing how this manga is going, I'm guessing everyone will win with the power of friendship, or the author will be the ultimate troll and have the bad guy win and kill everyone. lmao. If he did that it would piss off everyone. I kind of hope it happens. I'm rooting for evil to win. XD

      XD That would be amazing.

  5. Fairy Tail is over.. and the final chapter was decent. No hentai fluff crap like I was expecting. Instead it had a nice retrospect back to the first handful of chapters of the entire series. As much as I hated and complained about the ending, I will miss this manga. Its hard to believe I've been reading it for 11 years. I'll have to pick up some other manga to read now.

  6. FedEx is one of the shittiest delivery companies on the planet. For about 10 years UPS has found my house and delivered with a success rate of 100%. I ordered a couch and the random delivery people found my house without needing directions. I could order fuel oil and a tanker truck will find my house and backup into the driveway. But if I order a single thing online like a hard drive, fedex will delivery to a vacant field half a mile from my house. At least thats where I'm assuming it is since it was "delivered, left on front door" earlier today. :disgust: FedEx has a 50% delivery rate at my house. 6 packages they've delivered to me, only 3 of which got to my house, 2 others went to neighbor's houses and this one is somewhere, probably thrown into the neighbor's pool.

Either one of my neighbors dropped off my package this evening or fedex finally found my house. Whoever it was, was like a ninja. I'm glad I have it now so I can put this fedex bullshit behind me now. -_-; Tomorrow I'll hook up my new hard drive and see if SSD speed really is a huge improvement.

  7. Guild Wars 2 released a statement that the pvp legendary back piece will still be obtainable in upcoming seasons... which means I don't have to grind out pvp that much now. ^_^ I'll get my 3 matches a day in still to progress the meta achievements but I'll be turning on my PS4 more often again. I need to play some more Tomb Raider. That game is OCD inducing in a good way.

  8. Guild Wars 2 spring update has got my interest. I must get that fractal back piece. :dizzy:

The Ranger sword is amazing now. S/A is just beastly. I'm so happy they fixed that. I took my ascended sword away from my mesmer and gave it to my ranger. XD I want bolt now.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

My full ascended armor is complete. My agony resistance gold sink is done too. All thats left is to get some more fractal relics and I'll have full AR for that fractal 100 boss fight. All I've done the last 2 evenings is craft. Starting tomorrow I can actually resume playing. XD

  9. GW2 had a balance patch yesterday and my necro had 2 specific skills changed. Epidemic got nerfed, and plague form got turned into plaguelands. I tried them both out last night. In a small mob of enemies epi looks like it works about the same, but I need to test it out more thoroughly. I haven't used the plague form in over a year, but when I did use it, it was for pvp and wvw because it gave stability and basically guaranteed an un-interrupted enemy stomp. Now it is a completely different skill that makes a small aoe field that pulses massive conditions. When I used it on a mob, that mob melted faster than anything. Holy crap. But even with my traits set to reduce cool down on corruption skills, I can only use this skill every 80 seconds. This skill is only useful against large zergs of strong enemies and bosses. This skill was designed specifically for raid bosses imo. Its aoe is too small and the cool down too high for normal pve. I'd rather keep flesh golem on for the cc against champs and legendary enemies. Sure plaguelands can pump out the damage, but the utility of flesh golem cc is too good to give up for me.

  10. Happy birthday Lady! :D she probably wont even notice this. lol.

  11. Holy crap I've been sick as hell for the last 4 days. Its a combo strep throat and flu. I've been off an on sick for the last month but this is kicking my ass on a whole new level.

Yeah the menthol burns like crazy, but damn it works. It reminds me of Listerine, and why I don't use any of that "no burn" stuff Crest and others make... it just doesn't feel like its working unless my gums feel like they are being bathed in acid and fire. XDXD

  12. I beat Killzone Shadow Fall the other day. WTF kind of ending is that. -_-; The mechanics of the game were decent. I liked having my own personal drone. It could attack, heal me, put up a shield, emp and zip line. Using that OWL was fun. But I never played the first 3 games and even tho you didn't need to play those to play this game since it takes place 30 years after the last game, I felt like I was out of place. The plot wasn't that good and some of the missions were down right aggravating with horrible checkpoint locations that caused me to waste 5-10 minutes repeating content because I died on too many occasions. I hated the scan for enemies function. It was so pointless half the time because the majority of enemies wouldn't even spawn until you went into a new location. I'd be sitting outside a door, scan for enemies, think I'm safe and just run right in. Then I'm ambushed by 4 enemies that just appeared. -_-; Because you die after taking about 4 bullets, I'd have to start at a checkpoint again and repeat crap. wtf. I got into the habit of running into a room and running right back out and rescanning for enemies. So annoying.

I never got into KZ because the first game had shit controls that you could only turn into more shit controls. Stick wasn't ADS. XD

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I was glad the controls were good in the game and I could set crouch to right stick, but man that crouch was too realistic. This guy would take a knee all slow like he was actually carrying the 100 pounds of gear I had and he didn't want to break a hip. XD

  13. I beat The Walking Dead: Michonne tonight. Poor Michonne. The end really makes you feel for her. The action in the game was decent but was very short. It was only 3 episodes but compared to the original two TWD games Telltale has done, the Michonne game's length is equal to 1 and half of those episodes. I was also confused as to the time line of the game. I kept wondering why she had a machete and not her katana. I looked it up just now and the game takes place after some event in the comic where Michonne leaves the group for some reason. And this is the side story of that. But they don't hint at that at all. The entire time I thought the game was taking place before she even met Rick's group at all. Overall it was worth playing for the $5 is cost me. But aside from a few choices that could have changed things, this game could easily be watched on a lets play instead.

  14. I beat Uncharted 3 today. It was a good game and it was quite visually impressive on many occasions. But overall it felt like uncharted 2 was a much more enjoyable game to me. 2 was full of constant action, exploring and adventure. While 3 felt more like I was always trying to escape from somewhere instead of exploring. Different parts of the game didn't tie together well for me and left many plot lines unanswered that would be irrelevant in a sequel considering how the game ended.

I do look forward to playing uncharted 4 but I'll wait to pick it up on black Friday.

  15. I bought a new 480 gb sandisk ssd hard drive off jet with a 30% coupon for only $75. I'll get it sometime next week. I'll finally get to see how fast these things really are when I put it in my laptop.

  16. I bought a new couch today. Couches are so costly. I think I'll hold off on buying premium for bf1 until the first dlc comes out to save some cash. 6 months zero percent financing was a good deal but all my extra cash will be going to my couch payments now.

  17. I bought a new modem off amazon so I won't have to pay time warner a modem rental fee of $10 a month anymore. I'll be hooking it up sometime tomorrow or friday. Hopefully I don't get any new NAT errors. x_x

  18. I bought a used 500gb super slim PS3 today from gamestop. Damn that thing is quiet compared to my old 120 gb slim one. Before my old ps3 died it sounded like a box fan even tho I've cleaned it repeatedly over the years and it had no dust build up in it. With all the free games I've been getting from PS+ over the past couple years, I think I'll install some to check out now that I have the hard drive space to install them. I didn't even realize I owned Beyond good and evil hd remaster. That sequel trailer for ps4 looked good. I might give it an hour and see if it holds my attention... after I play Uncharted 4.

  19. I did a minor upgrade to the site today, but a couple of themes are not running the most recent build so there might be a few issues with the text editors or some links not displaying everything 100% properly. If anyone notice any discrepancies, let me know.

Guests can now view sigantures. I'll fully update the themes sometime this weekend.

  20. I ended up spending my entire weekend cleaning my basement. Theres a good chance I might be moving to a different house in a month or so and I wanted to make sure the move would go smooth. Its amazing how much junk accumulates in a basement. I was planning on playing some gw2 this weekend.. and it never happened. XD

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Well at least you did it this weekend and not the Beta. Maybe at your new house, Fed Ex will deliver to the correct house. XD

That would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it with them. XD

  21. I finally got the rarest tonic in Guild Wars 2. The Endless Fractal Tonic. :D That damn thing has such horrible RNG that I feel like I should go buy a lotto ticket right now. XD Its rarity is easily the same as having a precursor drop and after a year of trying to get it I gave up for 6 months. Then over the past month I started playing fractals again, finished my legendary back piece and then got this tonic.. I felt like I had a heart attack when I saw it in my inventory. XD I'll make a video of it later this week. :D

    1. DeathscytheX

You videos when from barely audible to loud as fuck. XD 50% PC volume and it almost blew my ear drums out. XDXDXD

      Sledgstone

XD I don't know what volume settings are supposed to be normal for recording a video so once I figured out how to set it for max I left it there. XD I can't watch my videos on my phone without turning the volume down. XD

  22. I finally maxed out the mastery points on my Guild Wars 2 account.. except for the raid masteries. Now theres nothing holding me back from making a Heart of Thorns legendary except for currencies. :D

I wonder if the new Kryta map will have Core MP so I can cheese it to finish legendary crafting instead of the map mastery XD.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Watch that new map mastery be absolutely necessary to get around the map like in Ember Bay. XD In hindsight the Kodan Mastery wasn't actually necessary at all to accomplish everything in the Bitterfrost map. You could have used those MP with no problem. XD

  23. I finished "Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet" on netflix last night. The first episode was some of the best mech anime I've ever seen. I wish the entire series was like the first episode. Then it turned into a 'slice-of-life' anime for about 7 episodes. -_-; After an unnerving loli dance scene in which every guy over 40 was drunk and wooing at 10 year old girls dancing I was done with it (seriously japan? is this what japanese men want? wtf.). But then I looked at the episode descriptions for the final episodes and I stuck with it. The final 3 eps were great and had good action. If you want to see some good mech battles, watch the first and last 3 or 4 eps of this series. All the episodes in between are just filler crap to establish some sense of loyalty between the mech pilot and the group of people on the gargantia. And of course to forge a typical anime relationship of: "i love this guy i just met and even tho we've only known each other for less than 2 weeks, you need to stay with us for life!"

The amusement park ep of Haganai season two was so hilarious. XD I think the harem worked because Kodaka wasn't a mega perv and outside of Rika there was very little sexual frustration. Plus fan service was limited. The show stayed focused on the story and each character's plight.

    3. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

You gotta remember Sledge the Slice of Life genre is pretty much the "Cute girls doing cute things" genre so high school aged characters will always be present (and generally cute girls as mentioned). I guess that doesn't draw that many people in but it does me and I do understand the frustration of it being focused on this age group (it's why I have a hatred of harem series). My all time favorite series falls into this genre, Aria (I can't recommend this series enough. It's not everyone's cup of tea but the show is amazing (so is the manga), has amazing character development (but it is centered around high school age girls), and the art and music is just amazing. I re-watch this series at least twice a year (by far one of the best purchases I've made anime wise)). Plus you also have to realize that these shows are aimed at high schoolers and the Japanese Otaku hence why we see so many shows featuring protagonists around that age category (for some reason it's a major hit over there, so are idol based anime (which I can't understand why it's important, then again the Japanese have a thing with idol worship). They don't care what us Americans have to say on the subject as anime isn't as big over here as it was back in the Toonami era (original run). Anime fandom has died down over here (though it has been seeing a resurgence in the last 2-3 years but it'll never be as big as it was originally).

Heh, I started reading Berserk like 4 years ago but I haven't made it past volume 9 yet. While its a great read (and I do plan on reading the rest of what I have (up to volume 35)) I doubt he'll ever finish it (much like Five Star Stories, I don't think that manga will ever end (it was on a 10 year or so hiatus and the creator just started picking it up again recently). It's one of the longest running manga's to date time wise (13 volumes so far and it started in 1986)). Then again I don't think Rei Hiroe will ever finish Black Lagoon (it's been stuck at volume 10 for like 2 years (pretty much right after the Roberta's Blood Trail arc, which is so much better in the manga. The anime adaptation of it didn't do Roberta any justice)).

I've got a dislike for HorribleSubs and only really use them if I have no choice (I'm not a fan of Crunchyroll's translations which is what Horrible uses for their releases). I'll probably pick that torrent up but god knows when I'm going to have time to sit down and watch 700 episodes (then again I'll probably only pick up the Marineford Arc. I haven't read or seen it but I've seen so many character tribute videos and music videos about this arc that I want to see it in it's entirety. I really want to see Whitebeard kick some ass (I don't know why but I seriously like this character though I know very little about him)).

That was a great episode XD Honestly Kodaka was a great change from the normal protagonist you usually get in harem shows. Down to earth, slightly pervy, and all around great guy who generally cares for his friends well being (I find it funny that he's pretty much a homemaker). If it wasn't for Rika I don't think the show would really have any sexual frustration or fan service (yea Sena still provides plenty of it but Rika is by far the worst for it). Then again the show wouldn't be the same without her if they took her out. My major draw to the show when I started watching it was the sad premise it had, grouping up people who have no friends or social skills. Not only did it provide some great humor (good god the ideas for how to make friends were hilarious) it provided a look into the anti-social tendencies most children and teenagers face these days.

    4. Sledgstone

If you have the Berserk manga, I'd still definitely recommend reading it. But dive in knowing you'll never get an ending and you won't be as disappointed. There are quite a few arcs that see full completion in those volumes so it is a great read. The tower of conviction arc (i think thats what it is) was the best part of the series to me. And I just found out that arc will be in the new anime. That will probably spawn alot of new fans of the series, but will cause even more disappointment when all the new fans learn they'll never get an ending, or even at a minimum finally see Casca become sane again. Many people only think of Berserk from the original anime with a messed up ending. But the band of the hawk arc that was in the anime is nothing compared to the rest of the series. The Berserker armor the show is named after has never even been in the anime or anime movies.

If you want to pick and choose some good One Piece to watch, I highly recommend the marineford arc, then keep watching the eps after because thats when the time skip occurs. The fishman island arc after that was great too because it shows an entire new culture.. and alot of mermaids. :P

  24. I finished reading The Hobbit for the first time. Great book but I definitely liked the movies more. It's amazing how they took 40 pages at the end of the book about the battle of the five armies and turned it into an entire 2 1/2 hour movie. Lol. Gandalf didn't seem as powerful as he was in the movies but close enough. But the dwarves in the book were nothing like in the movies. The dwarves hardly fought at all in the book until the very end. They often relied on Gandalf or Bikbo to save them in every situation. Wtf. But the biggest difference I  the book compared to the movies was that Bilbo told them all about the ring. Lol. It wasn't even a secret. They were shocked at first but then he used it constantly.. he even had it on for a solid 2 weeks while the dwarves were imprisoned buy the elves. O_O

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I bet if I'd have read the book years ago before seeing the recent movies I'd have liked the book more because it would have been established for me. I got the entire hobbit/LoTR book collection during an amazon sale a year ago. I've just recently started reading them all. I'm on book one of LoTR now.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Good luck with that, out of all the LOTR books Fellowship is an extremely boring read (even though it has one of my favorite characters in it). It has it's high points but it drags on for what feels like forever (Moria is about the only high point of the whole book).

Honestly if I'd of seen the movies first I'd probably be looking at it the same way as you. I power read the LOTR books a month before the first movie came out and then read The Hobbit about a month after said movie came out (that was back when I was reading a new book like ever other week (I miss those days when I had the free time to read, now books just pile up and I never seem to get around to reading them)).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear that about free time. Most of my reading takes place in the bathroom. XD Or when the power is out or I'm stuck in some waiting room and I remembered to bring my book. I used to read on every one of my lunch breaks but I haven't done that in over a year, so it takes me quite a bit longer to read a book now. Took me about a month to read the Hobbit.

  25. I finished watching 13 Reasons Why on netflix and it was depressing. Great acting, good plot. I recommend watching it. It really gives good insight on depression and suicide while showing signs to look for in friends. The premise of the show is that a girl kills herself but she left 13 tapes she recorded, one for each person that wronged her, the tapes are passed to each person until they make it to all of them. In the show, we follow one of the characters as he listens to all the tapes, while having flashbacks of the events that lead up to her death. Its very depressing to see how 1 conversation from just a handful of people at the right moment could have changed her mind. I have a feeling this will become one of those series that becomes popular for a generation, like how Breakfast Club was, because it tackles emotional issues.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Pretty grim comparison X_X. I don't know if I'll watch this or not. I see everyone talking about it, but I've heard and read enough of these stories, I don't feel the need to watch ti portrayed on film. I remember all those PSA shorts back in the 80s, perticularly one about playing with firearms, where a kid shoots his brother in the head after finding their dad's gun and playing with it like a toy.

Depression is an interesting complication, because its a fairly new diagnosed disease. I'm sure its always existed, but not at the levels it does in today's society. Part of it is the meds big pharam likes to pump into us, another part is the bullshit they pump into our food, and another part of it is just how our society acts now. We're so digitized, no one really knows how to communicate in person anymore. I was out for my Sister's b-day last weekend and observed a prom couple that stayed on their phones when they weren't shoving food in their mouth. They didn't seem to ever hold a conversation. People need human interaction, but its easier when you're behind a keyboard. Toys, and imagination have been replaced by a tablet... thats gotta nerf the brain's cognitive development somehow.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I still recommend watching the series because of how they portrayed the the people that wronged her. The majority of those 13 people had no idea their actions directly contributed to her decision to commit suicide until they heard the tapes and understood. And that portrayal of how these individuals came to understand what they did is a great part of the show. Something else occurs thats not stated outright, but it reinforces something I read and heard psychiatrist's talk about in shows.. many people who commit suicide don't discuss the fact that they are going to do it. The ones that do usually want to be talked down from that ledge.

Too many people think they have depression when they're really just extremely sad for a period of time. Doctors might misdiagnose it as depression to (I honestly don't think the diagnosis should be called depression since its a common term for being sad). But full on depression is something that, once set in place, will last for years or end in suicide. In some people its purely an emotional issue but in others its a physical issue. Some doctors don't want to do a proper diagnosis and they just throw anti-depression meds at their patients and assume they'll get over it. In the case of 13 reasons why, its a full emotional breakdown that causes her depression. In some parts of the show I felt that it was a little cliche, like how much drama can one teenager keep getting involved in? But it was a perfect storm scenario. All the things that could happen to keep pushing her off that ledge continued happening like a domino effect.

I agree about the human interaction. Some people can compensate for their illnesses or disabilities by having access to a digital means of communicating with other humans, but the majority of people that have nothing holding them back really need to put the damn phone or tablet down and talk with people. I've seen way too many kids with their faces stuck to a phone playing short attention span games with limited play times. I swear that smart phone games are teaching an entire generation to be ADHD.
