  1. Fairy Tail is over.. and the final chapter was decent. No hentai fluff crap like I was expecting. Instead it had a nice retrospect back to the first handful of chapters of the entire series. As much as I hated and complained about the ending, I will miss this manga. Its hard to believe I've been reading it for 11 years. I'll have to pick up some other manga to read now.

  2. My PS3 died today. :( It was one of my favorite consoles of all time and the best bluray player ever. I tried everything to fix it except buy a new power adapter. If I buy a multimeter I can test it to see if thats the issue or not. But I'll probably be better off putting the $30 that would cost towards a newer model refurbished one. I would just get another ps4 for my living room, but I still have a bunch of ps3 games I still want to eventually play.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

      You'll never play them. XD

I left my PS3 on for its entire life. I never used that "off switch" in the back so it was always on low power or what ever it was called. I had a first gen launch day version. It actually got me more money on trade it towards the slew of PS4 games I got on the PS4 launch. thats pretty sad that a first edition was worth more than a newer slim because of the backwards compatibility.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I might not ever play them, but it was the Final Fantasy 13 games. I could pick them up on steam now, but that PS3 was the best bluray player ever because of it's built in dolby digital surround sound decoder. With a bluray movie and my 5.1 speaker set up, that PS3 made my living room sound like a movie theater with massive bass. I think to buy a bluray player with that audio output would cost around $50, so I still think I'll spend the extra $50-$80 more and get a refurbished ps3 instead so I'll get the benefits of auto firmware updates, a 500 gb hard drive and access to all my games again.

  3. My new kitten Maggie is not giving me an ounce of privacy or free time. x_x We have been slowly integrating her in with our dogs and after the last couple days they seem to be getting along just fine now. We had to take her to the vet a few days ago to check her spay operation from the shelter. It was slightly infected. -_-; She got antibiotics, a fresh staple and has had a cone on her head since then and it won't come off for another week. She likes to knock over everything and almost spilled my glass of water on my laptop. x_x

Exactly. XD Thankfully she is showing no interest in electronic cables unless they are in her way. x_x But she has a fascination for anything white. She has tried to destroy both of my white ear bud sets, has attacked white shoe laces and knocked over a bunch of my work papers and proceeded to bite the papers until I threw a toy for her. x_x

  4. The power of friendship prevails in Fairy Tail and the bad guy was defeated. -_-; *slow clap* One chapter left for the epilogue. This guy hasn't drawn a hentai inspired chapter in a long while so I'm going to assume it'll end with a bunch of fan service at this point.

I mention Naruto and One Piece since they're the only other long running series I've cared about. I guess Berserk should be included to but its only a long running series because the guy makes 1-2 chapters every 5 years. -_-; i tried reading hajime no ippo but f*ck that. It's somehow longer than one piece and shows no sign of ending. I loved the anime tho.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Considering what I know of One Piece I'd have to agree as it's quite obvious he's working toward a set goal (I still need to sit down and watch it as well as get caught back up on the manga (I believe I got to chapter 30 or 40 before I quit reading due to other concerns) as everything he does feels planned (by what I've read and heard from others). I can't comment much on Naruto as the only chapter I've read is the final one but again it seemed he knew where he was going from the get go (the anime on the other hand didn't seem like it knew where it was going).

Yea, I need to get back into reading Berserk (I stopped reading at volume 9 but I do have up to volume 35 downloaded) and start reading Five Star Stories (you think Berserk is bad, the author for FSS went on a 9 year hiatus before he started up again in 2015 (stopped in 2006) and the manga has been going on since 1986, I think he's currently on hiatus again).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

lol. wow. XD It took Gutts and the group 9 years of manga chapters to get to the current island they're on.. take your time reading it, you'll catch up and then wait 8 more years for more progress to be made.

  5. I'm adopting a cat from the shelter. :D We went there last saturday and picked her out. A little kitten 4 months old. We're waiting to hear back from the place about when to pick her up. They give her full vaccinations, spay and a month of flea treatment. They have to spay her before they can release her to us, so we just gotta wait a few more days to find out when we can get her. They got hit with multiple large hoarding cases recently of saved animals and theres alot of volunteers there now. I hope this shelter doesn't screw this up. We have little cat toys and a new litter pan all ready for her.

ROTFLMAO! XD Oh screw that. Contacts and allergies would never work for me. XD

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

God I'd love to have a cat/kitten but like both of you I'm allergic (and not mildly, I've almost been run to the hospital more than once due to an allergic reaction brought on by a cat). It fucking sucks because cats adore me and always come near me (and I have to pet them because KITTY!). I am thinking of getting a Siberian in the future though pending on whether I can handle their fur or not (they're one of the 5 breeds that don't set off most people allergies that are allergic to cats. Sadly they're also $1200 for a kitten from a breeder).

I can handle dogs fine (though I am mildly allergic). It's a good thing because I get stuck watching my parents dog quite a bit (cute little scamp but annoying as all hell).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That's one expensive cat breed. O_O

We got the phone call earlier today... We get to pick up our kitty some time tomorrow. :D

  6. I started playing Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and its great. The best part about this game is the hidden "Nightmare" stages in each chapter. I stumbled across the first one in chapter 1 and fell in love with it. I found a random bunk that had a sleep icon on it, I clicked on it and Blazkowicz went to sleep / transitioned into a HD remaster of the 8-bit nightmare that is the original Wolfenstein 3D game. XD Each stage has been extremely fun and gives me flashbacks to my childhood. :D

My PS4 has never downloaded a single update while in rest mode. Its been years now and I'm mostly used to it, but its annoying as hell when I actually want to play a game and I have to wait for a damn update with their dial up speed download rates. -_-; My PS3 perfectly turns itself on around 6am (I don't know if it does it every day or not), downloads any updates and shuts itself back off. But my PS4 can't do this in rest mode. wtf. The only time I have to do an update on my ps3 is on the rare time a download fails or an update happens after it does it's daily or twice a week check. I had to download a netflix update a couple days ago, first time I've had to run a manual update on the system in over a year.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

For me it's not the download speed. It was the preparing to download part. I'd have to wait 30 min to an hour for 20 seconds of download. Someone said it has to do with the PS4 checking for the updates you already have and trying to decide the least amount it needs to download. Thry really just need to scrap it and just replace the files. The thought is nice to save people bandwidth, but it's not practical if your system never updates in rest.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Omg yes. I hate that preparing to download crap. I included that into the 3 hour download the other day. It was about 20 minutes of uncharted 4 "preparing to download". That crap makes no sense to me. I can turn on steam and updates will just auto download instantly. No other platform or system will "prepare to download" anything.

  7. Even in the last couple chapters of Fairy Tail, people that just died are brought back to life again.. -_-; At least a main bad guy is getting a proper ending now with one last big fight. Only 5 chapters left. Knowing how this manga is going, I'm guessing everyone will win with the power of friendship, or the author will be the ultimate troll and have the bad guy win and kill everyone. lmao. If he did that it would piss off everyone. I kind of hope it happens. I'm rooting for evil to win. XD

  8. I wish amazon would indicate if something is being shipped from out of country. The last 2 items I've purchased were both prime eligible and both gave the impression there would be 2 day shipping, until I get to the checkout and 'free 2 day shipping' has a delivery date of 1 week later. Still no indication as to why until I get the UPS tracking number and find out the item is being shipped from Canada. I haven't had anything from amazon actually arrive in 2 days in over 8 months.

    1. DeathscytheX

      Honestly no, it's all hypocrisy. We could have a lotto if it went to schools. People are more open to it now. The problem is every time there is a proposal, the government wants it to go into the state general fund... So they can fatten their pockets. So when it gets voted down they do the "the people have spoken and don't want a lotto". -_-;

There is plenty of titty bars and porn/adult toy shops around here. Honestly I don't know how they stay in business when you can order everything discretely online. There was a Asian brothel across from the mall for 20 years running as a "massage parlor". It even had an ad in the paper when newspapers were still viable. XD everyone knew it was a whore house, but I heard they use to give a lot of inside information to law enforcement so they turned a blind eye. A few months ago it closed down and a ton of Asians showed up in the crook book with all the mug shots. I don't know if they do that in your state, but we even have a Facebook page called "Arrested in Mobile" that posts all the mug shots as they get booked. XD

    2. Sledgstone

Lmao. XD I've never noticed a Facebook page dedicated to local arrests before. I should look for one. XD

  9. LoTR Fellowship of the Rings is such a slow book. The battle of five armies in The Hobbit was only around 40 pages. In Fellowship, I'm 80 pages in and Frodo is still in the process of leaving the shire.. wtf. I'm glad the movies skipped 90% of this. Nobody would watch the movie if 2 hours was dedicated to him attending his estate while waiting on Gandalf to finally show back up 15 years after telling Frodo to keep the ring safe. Roughly 15 years he was gone.. wtf. In the movies, its like he went and made a cell phone call and came right back all worried. In the book its a boring Hobbit's life with Frodo eventually taking care of his belongings, selling his house, getting his affairs in order, getting some breakfast with Sam, etc. x_x

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Thanks for the warning about the silmarillion. After reading the hobbit I was interested in getting more of his books but after reading the first 20 pages of notes, etc. that is the prologue of fellowship and then the first 80 pages of the book, Tolkien has almost burned me out in 100 pages. X_x All the hobbit lore in that prologue was all pointless details to me that add nothing to the plot. It completely lines up with what you said tho. It's all world building. This guy is more detail oriented in his writing than Peter Straub. However there is one part of the notes that really intrigued me. Tolkien, in response to critics saying his books was a metaphor for his experience in the war, gave an example of an alternate version of LoTR if it was. In the alternate version Sauron would have gotten the ring back and Saruman would have created his own ring of power and their two armies would have raged war against each other for control of middle earth. That would have been cool. Lol.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Meh, that was mostly there for those who hadn't read The Hobbit before getting into LOTR (I know I hadn't read The Hobbit before I read LOTR, was a nice little intro into what happened before the events currently taking place).

Don't get me wrong some of Tolkien's best work is in The Silmarillion (in fact it is my favorite book out of everything he's written) but like I said its a pain to read through all of it. I actually like that Tolkien took the time to actually set up his world and give us the details, it made it feel more alive). Too many books these days don't take the time to do that and just throw you into the fray without even a "Hey, this is whats kinda going on just so you know". Shit just wait until you get to the appendices in The Return of the King (if your copy has it, mine did). There is so much information on who's who, the elven language (which is actually a language, Tolkien was a Linguist), another few pages of story not mentioned in the book proper (like the Grey Havens scene from the movie, what happened after Sam and Frodo got back to the Shire, what Pippin and Merry were up to after everything, etc), and so much more (The Silmarillion has something similar but its not as bad).

Reading Tolkien is a huge commitment and is something I learned the hard way back when I first started reading his work. If you can put up with the amount of information he throws at you the reward is well worth the boredom.

  10. World versus World in Guild Wars 2 is fun again. I've played a little over an hour a night for the last 2 nights and I haven't had that much fun in WvW since I was power leveling my second character almost 3 years ago. I think I'll upload a video later tomorrow. The zerg rushes are real. XD I saved a couple videos but the one I really wanted didn't save for some reason. We had a full on battle of 3 armies, so epic. XD

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

You must have gotten on after I quit out last night. I was about to give up playing any WvW but then I saw Cloud Fly logged on, so I camped at a waypoint with him and waited about 15 mins for a zerg to form. Best hour of WvW I've ever had. :D I took a couple videos and I'll check them later and upload. Epic battles. Because there was no queue on any of the borderlands at the time, we kept swapping between each of the borderlands annihilating enemy zergs thanks to the scouts we had in place. XD

Resistance works great on warrior in pvp when I need to pop it. It makes you immune to condi damage but does not cleanse the condi from you. You can always tell when resistance is on because its represented as three glowing orbs all tethered together circling around you. Its another reason why healing signet is so strong on warrior. The constant HP regen is amazing, but then if you get condi bombed, you pop healing signet for the heal and the resistance, then use endure pain to negate physical damage while healing signet comes off cool down to resume regen healing. I don't know what skills or traits rev has for resistance but a rev can share that resistance with an entire group which can make them extremely useful in wvw.

I don't know how in the hell Cloud Fly survives as much as he does in WvW. Hes running bersker with healing signet, hammer and sword/(torch i think?). Sword is condi for warrior and hammer is all CC. I need to find out what his build is. If hes running with berserker stats then he must be using the defense trait line for the traited endure pain and extra healing regen traits. That guy is impressive as all hell in WvW.

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

He must have a good network of scouts on discord because he always knows where to go to stop the enemies from taking the keeps and where the enemy siege is when we take something. The Borderland hoping was great. After we crushed them on FABL, they came back again and we destroyed them and then chased the rest across the map killing more to teach them a lesson. XD we were even killing them in the water. I'm glad you got to experience his commanding. That food he drops helps too with the 20% less damage from condi and when stunned.

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

That food was useful and it surprised me how beneficial it was. My video card capture software does not like wvw. One of my videos saved with no audio. One didn't finish encoding and is unwatchable and all my videos since the windows 10 creators update has been full of endless stutter issues. 😒 the stuttering might be because of wvw causing to much strain on my cpu tho. Either that or its a strain on my hard drive read/ write. I'll have to take a couple videos of pvp to see if it's just a wvw issue for me.

  11. The latest chapter of One Piece just finished up Big Mom's origin story (only a couple chapters long).. she is a f*cking monster. O_O

  12. I finished reading The Hobbit for the first time. Great book but I definitely liked the movies more. It's amazing how they took 40 pages at the end of the book about the battle of the five armies and turned it into an entire 2 1/2 hour movie. Lol. Gandalf didn't seem as powerful as he was in the movies but close enough. But the dwarves in the book were nothing like in the movies. The dwarves hardly fought at all in the book until the very end. They often relied on Gandalf or Bikbo to save them in every situation. Wtf. But the biggest difference I  the book compared to the movies was that Bilbo told them all about the ring. Lol. It wasn't even a secret. They were shocked at first but then he used it constantly.. he even had it on for a solid 2 weeks while the dwarves were imprisoned buy the elves. O_O

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I bet if I'd have read the book years ago before seeing the recent movies I'd have liked the book more because it would have been established for me. I got the entire hobbit/LoTR book collection during an amazon sale a year ago. I've just recently started reading them all. I'm on book one of LoTR now.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

Good luck with that, out of all the LOTR books Fellowship is an extremely boring read (even though it has one of my favorite characters in it). It has it's high points but it drags on for what feels like forever (Moria is about the only high point of the whole book).

Honestly if I'd of seen the movies first I'd probably be looking at it the same way as you. I power read the LOTR books a month before the first movie came out and then read The Hobbit about a month after said movie came out (that was back when I was reading a new book like ever other week (I miss those days when I had the free time to read, now books just pile up and I never seem to get around to reading them)).

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I hear that about free time. Most of my reading takes place in the bathroom. XD Or when the power is out or I'm stuck in some waiting room and I remembered to bring my book. I used to read on every one of my lunch breaks but I haven't done that in over a year, so it takes me quite a bit longer to read a book now. Took me about a month to read the Hobbit.

  13. Fairy Tail is officially ending. Only 10 chapters left. This writer turned this series into garbage plot lines. :windows: I'm genuinely pissed at this manga now. Not because favorite characters are being killed off like most manga/animes do at the end.. Not that any main characters at this point are in any real threat of dying since every character seems to be immortal. Being mad like that would be a good thing since it means I feel for the characters and the overall plot.. But instead I'm mad because the writer threw so many random plot lines into the story over the last year that its become laughable like a bad soap opera. All long term plot lines are pretty much negated and last minute characters and plot lines now resolve everything.. something that was just revealed 10 chapters ago now solves half the danger to the planet that has been build up as an ultimate power throughout the last 400 chapters. wtf.

I'll compare this to DBZ. Imagine all that build up how powerful Freeza was.. but then right before Goku is going to fight him, Krillin found some magic orb and then Bulma kicked it at Freeza and killed him. No big fight with Goku, no planet namek getting destroyed.. hell, Goku never even met Freeza. Thats the equivalent of what just happened. WTF.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

WTF.. another chapter another horrible plot twist. Once again a major character that died is actually alive again.. and another major enemy was just defeated with the emotion of love. :shake:

    2. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Sounds like it has as much depth as Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo :P

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

lol. I'm surprised there are still 9 chapters left. Unless some enemy comes back to life to do another fight (this would not surprise me at all), then these last 9 chapters are all basically going to be an epilogue since there are no enemies left to fight.

  14. I did a minor upgrade to the site today, but a couple of themes are not running the most recent build so there might be a few issues with the text editors or some links not displaying everything 100% properly. If anyone notice any discrepancies, let me know.

Guests can now view sigantures. I'll fully update the themes sometime this weekend.

  15. GW2 had a balance patch yesterday and my necro had 2 specific skills changed. Epidemic got nerfed, and plague form got turned into plaguelands. I tried them both out last night. In a small mob of enemies epi looks like it works about the same, but I need to test it out more thoroughly. I haven't used the plague form in over a year, but when I did use it, it was for pvp and wvw because it gave stability and basically guaranteed an un-interrupted enemy stomp. Now it is a completely different skill that makes a small aoe field that pulses massive conditions. When I used it on a mob, that mob melted faster than anything. Holy crap. But even with my traits set to reduce cool down on corruption skills, I can only use this skill every 80 seconds. This skill is only useful against large zergs of strong enemies and bosses. This skill was designed specifically for raid bosses imo. Its aoe is too small and the cool down too high for normal pve. I'd rather keep flesh golem on for the cc against champs and legendary enemies. Sure plaguelands can pump out the damage, but the utility of flesh golem cc is too good to give up for me.

  16. It feels like I've had constant appointments for the last month that keep eating into all my free time. Even this week I have at least 3 places to go during work hours causing me to make up time during my free time. x_x Tomorrow I need to go back to the tire shop. I got my summer tires mounted and balanced on thursday and by late saturday afternoon I'm getting a helicopter kind of air sound from my front left tire. "whoosh whoosh whoosh". I thought I had a bearing going, but I got my breaker bar out and sure enough the lug nuts weren't tight. wtf. First time I've ever had this tire place screw up a mounting before and I've been going to them for over 14 years. I tightened them up but I'm still getting a bit of sound while driving. I don't feel like hauling my 3 ton jack out of my basement so I"ll go back there tomorrow. I'm pretty certain they're going to have to lift the car and re-center the tire.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I might end up moving this summer so most of my weekend free time for the past month and a half has been eaten up by constant spring cleaning of my basement and sheds and then putting in 2+ hours of work on the weekends to make up for some appointments during the week. 1 or 2 more weekends and I should be done. x_x

Speaking of that jp, I left my warrior there and when I do my daily login I've been opening that chest every day since you ported him there. XD

    3. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Went back to the tire place. Turns out one of the back plates got loose and was hitting a rotor causing noise. The other part of the noise was one of my caliper pins/sides in the front left seized up and caused uneven wear on my rotor which warped it. I needed new brakes and got that done today. Spent $350 on it.  :bleedout: It needed the brakes tho and I'm surprised it passed yearly inspection with them in that condition considering to fully stop the car I'd have to push the brake pedal down past the gas pedal and almost touch the floor. This car runs like new now that I dropped $1400 on it over this past month. My gas mileage is even much better. I was averaging 26 mpg, and now its getting 36 mpg.

  17. I got my new 1 tb external hard drive in the mail today. I have enough free space that I can now save more than 1 or 2 video clips of my games at a time without having to delete something. That was so annoying. x_x

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Lol. I kept burning everything onto DVD-Rs for years, but now I have a massive case of dvds and its no longer feasible to burn things onto disk when I can buy a hard drive like the one I just got. Its smaller than my wallet and holds as much data as my entire case of dvdrs. I ran out of room to store things years ago which co-insides with when I stopped downloading everything. Sounds like we both horde too much digital stuff. XD

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

XD Sad thing is half of that is just anime and the sadder thing is I haven't watched half of the anime either (which is why I'm glad I got a CR sub, I'm whittling that down slowly now) . Oh I'm not even mentioning the stacks of DVD-R's and CD-R's I have with shit burned on them to help conserve space. I really do have a problem, maybe I should apply to be on that Hoarder's show (I wonder if they consider digital hording to be hording XD).

    3. Sledgstone

Digital hording is horrible for me. You should see my inventory on my guild wars 1 & 2 characters and every final fantasy game I've ever played. XD

  18. I watched "Dragon Blade" this weekend. A great Jackie Chan movie, mostly subtitled. Really depressing and really good. The pacing of the movie was amazing to me. So much happened in 2 hours that it felt like some epic trilogy condensed down to 1 movie with all the boring parts removed.

  19. My car is screwed up. :crap: It has an overheating issue but it doesn't show it as an issue. The radiator fan wont turn on unless my AC or heater is on. No check engine light or anything. After a long diagnosis at a dealership, they've concluded that the computer in the car itself is failing and needs to be replaced. Never had that happen to a car before. Its a hefty bill to get that swapped out. I could go cheap and buy a used part off ebay for $30-100 but I don't see the point when theres no way to test the damn things accurately considering mine is reading as functioning normally. wtf. :( Instead of trading in the car, I'll foot the $1k bill next week when the get the part in. I really don't want another car payment at this point.

    1. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

Good luck with your car Strider. I used to do all my own car maintenance, but this toyota has been so damn good the last 7 years I've only had to get the front brakes done once.

Normally I'd agree that the dealerships are rip offs, most of the time they are. But this toyota dealership I go to has been very reliable. The only thing that really seems marked up is the labor. I used to do all my own brake jobs, I'd buy high quality pads for $30+ and rotors for $30 a piece. So for about $100 I'd do my own front brakes, but I'd have to do them at least once every 2 1/2 years because of the amount of driving I was doing at the time. But after putting on a crap load of miles on my corolla and having the front brakes last roughly 4 years, I decided to pay the extra cash for the OEM brake pads and rotors since they last twice as long as the aftermarket ones. The price for those in parts was a bit over double, $230. I was having some health issues and since it was winter (I have no garage), I had the dealership do the work. Ended up charging me $160 in labor. $500 for a brake job seems pretty steep to me compared to getting it done somewhere else for $200, but the parts are double the life span (at least they are for toyota, never seemed to be the case with any GM vehicle I ever owned). This ECU unit is going to cost me $600 for the part. I could save $500 buying a used one, but I'm hesitant because it could have some issue as well. But for the full $1k they quoted me, that also includes replacing the thermostat ($75 part). Roughly $325 in labor total for both parts. I could probably get the bill knocked down to $500 going to another mechanic and getting a used ECU, but I'm also planning on making multiple 18 hour round trips to ohio over the next couple years. x_x If I was just driving around locally I'd probably go with the cheaper option, but it feels like I'd be better off with the more expensive route for the peace of mind. :crap:

After getting screwed around with for the last 2 weeks with the dealership not getting the part in, my car has finally been fixed. They did have to replace the ECU and the thermostat. I need to do some more test driving to make sure the car truely isn't overheating anymore. So far so good tho. The car is running smoother, quieter and idles better at least. I called up a couple places to get quotes last week. 2 places wouldn't do the ECU and told me I'd have to go to the dealership but Firestone would. They quoted me $860 before tax for the entire job. x_x Not much savings over the dealership. In the end it costed me $1100 with tax for the ECU, thermostat, oil change and labor at the dealership. I went with them in the end since it comes with a full 1 year parts and labor warranty. If I have anymore issues with these 2 parts they'll replace them again free of charge for the first year. They also gave me a free rental car for the last 3 days while they waited on the ECU to get delivered to them. This crap was costly as hell, but at least I wont have another car payment. I hope thats the end of my car issues for a while. *crosses fingers*

2 days after my last post about this issue my car's check engine light came back on. -_-; Long story short, I bitched to the dealership and my car has been there for the last week. Probably because of the cost of the repair work and the fact that they don't want negative reviews online I have had a free rental car for the last 8 days while they trouble shooted the problem with my car. Turns out they put the wrong thermostat in my car because for some reason there are 3 different versions for my vehicle type depending on where the car was manufactured or some crap. They apparently didn't get the right thermostat shipped to them even tho they re-ordered the same one they previously replaced 8 months ago. Then that thermostat also failed which caused them to realize the coolant temp sensor was also malfunctioning by being off by over 15 degrees. They then replaced the temp sensor and the thermostat again and now the car is running fine. I picked it up today. Finally. x_x They didn't charge me for the rental, or the temp sensor or the extra thermostats. They even gave me a $50 credit because the thermostat replacement should have been covered by their warranty to begin with. The ECU was failing and did need to be replaced since it wasn't sending the signal to the radiator fan to begin with either. After picking up my car and driving it home today, it feels like I'm driving a new car again. It idles alot smoother now at stop signs and while parked. Hopefully this is completely fixed now. *knocks on wood*

The guy at the dealership jokingly said if I end up having to call him back because of this issue again he'll quit his job. XD He also said the head mechanic never wants to see my car again if at all possible. XD

  20. I finished watching 13 Reasons Why on netflix and it was depressing. Great acting, good plot. I recommend watching it. It really gives good insight on depression and suicide while showing signs to look for in friends. The premise of the show is that a girl kills herself but she left 13 tapes she recorded, one for each person that wronged her, the tapes are passed to each person until they make it to all of them. In the show, we follow one of the characters as he listens to all the tapes, while having flashbacks of the events that lead up to her death. Its very depressing to see how 1 conversation from just a handful of people at the right moment could have changed her mind. I have a feeling this will become one of those series that becomes popular for a generation, like how Breakfast Club was, because it tackles emotional issues.

    1. DeathscytheX

      DeathscytheX

Pretty grim comparison X_X. I don't know if I'll watch this or not. I see everyone talking about it, but I've heard and read enough of these stories, I don't feel the need to watch ti portrayed on film. I remember all those PSA shorts back in the 80s, perticularly one about playing with firearms, where a kid shoots his brother in the head after finding their dad's gun and playing with it like a toy.

Depression is an interesting complication, because its a fairly new diagnosed disease. I'm sure its always existed, but not at the levels it does in today's society. Part of it is the meds big pharam likes to pump into us, another part is the bullshit they pump into our food, and another part of it is just how our society acts now. We're so digitized, no one really knows how to communicate in person anymore. I was out for my Sister's b-day last weekend and observed a prom couple that stayed on their phones when they weren't shoving food in their mouth. They didn't seem to ever hold a conversation. People need human interaction, but its easier when you're behind a keyboard. Toys, and imagination have been replaced by a tablet... thats gotta nerf the brain's cognitive development somehow.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I still recommend watching the series because of how they portrayed the the people that wronged her. The majority of those 13 people had no idea their actions directly contributed to her decision to commit suicide until they heard the tapes and understood. And that portrayal of how these individuals came to understand what they did is a great part of the show. Something else occurs thats not stated outright, but it reinforces something I read and heard psychiatrist's talk about in shows.. many people who commit suicide don't discuss the fact that they are going to do it. The ones that do usually want to be talked down from that ledge.

Too many people think they have depression when they're really just extremely sad for a period of time. Doctors might misdiagnose it as depression to (I honestly don't think the diagnosis should be called depression since its a common term for being sad). But full on depression is something that, once set in place, will last for years or end in suicide. In some people its purely an emotional issue but in others its a physical issue. Some doctors don't want to do a proper diagnosis and they just throw anti-depression meds at their patients and assume they'll get over it. In the case of 13 reasons why, its a full emotional breakdown that causes her depression. In some parts of the show I felt that it was a little cliche, like how much drama can one teenager keep getting involved in? But it was a perfect storm scenario. All the things that could happen to keep pushing her off that ledge continued happening like a domino effect.

I agree about the human interaction. Some people can compensate for their illnesses or disabilities by having access to a digital means of communicating with other humans, but the majority of people that have nothing holding them back really need to put the damn phone or tablet down and talk with people. I've seen way too many kids with their faces stuck to a phone playing short attention span games with limited play times. I swear that smart phone games are teaching an entire generation to be ADHD.

  21. My OCD has gotten the better of me again. I've been marathoning Guild Wars 2 so I can finish making the legendary raven staff Nevermore. The process of making this has so many parts and is so time consuming. I'm definitely finishing this now. Its definitely the most difficult and time consuming thing I've done in this game but its making me feel a real connection to the weapon. When I see other ppl that have it I'll know they went on that same journey. Its a pretty cool feeling. Its a bit of a shame the newer legendary weapons won't be made in the same way, but if they were I know I wouldn't put this much time into another one. The tier 4 collection is crazy.. I got a Raven egg, imbued it with power from numerous places, made an incubation chamber, hatched it and now I'm feeding it and teaching it to fly by doing specific events with alot of gliding. This is a cool experience. :D Once I'm done raising it, it'll actually become part of my living weapon. :D

Nier and ME have been relaxing after I grinded out machined weapons. I'm taking a break until LWS3. I'll get in some SAB here and there, but that took a toll on me.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I finished up my Gift of the Raven. I still have to turn it into the Gift of Nevermore which isn't difficult at all at this point. I wanted that part done before SAB started. I hope they patched the exploit of selling tribulation runs. They allowed the selling of trib runs last year but said they would patch it. Since they allowed it I went ahead and bought all the runs of world 2 that I needed to get all the green weapon skins and the red SAB infusion. If its not patched I might feel torn about buying all the runs I'd need for the yellow skins just to get the blue SAB infusion.. I'd feel torn about it because I'm a bit burned out on infusions now, but the blue one would actually look decent with my fractal back piece. XD But I also have just enough gold left to finish Nevermore.. lol. I hope it's patched. XD

Make sure to do your daily 3 SAB events like last year for the multiple daily meta achieve. I got a late start on it last year and only got 1 of the kaiser weapon skins. If we do the SAB daily every day this festival we should be able to get at least 2 kaiser / crimson skins. I'm really interested in seeing what the big SAB reward track chest will have for pvp or wvw. If the finisher is in there as a reward I'll start doing my pvp again.

  22. I watched the first season (at least first available on netflix) of The Great British Baking Show. This was amazingly relaxing. lol. Everyone is so nice, the music is soothing. No stress, yet informative baking info. I got to the end of the first season, saw who won and everyone is happy in the end. wtf. XD This is so different from all other competition shows. In the finale all the previous contestants were having a field day / picnic with friends and family while the last 3 people competed. After the winner was announced the other finalist responded with things like "The right person won this today." wtf. XD Nobody is mad. XD What really shocked me was the prize. The winner got a couple bouquets of flowers and a glass serving dish / trophy for a cake... and thats it. lmao. I had to google it.. there is no prize money, no cook book deal, no vacation or baking job... just the satisfaction of winning. Wow. XD The next season started and it begins with "We had over 10,000 participants attempting to get into this season.." So many people spending so much time for no rewards besides personal growth and experience. I like this show.

Fake drama and pointless scripted banter has ruined alot of American realty TV for me. I haven't watched Pawn Stars in years because of it. I just want interesting and knowledgeable information about the subject the show it about. Thats why I liked Mythbusters so much. There was no talk about Grant's love life or any discussion about Jamie and Adam never getting along outside of the show. It was an enjoyable show packed full of explanations, enjoyment and explosions with no drama. I do like watching Masterchef and it sometimes forces some drama on the contestants via reward advantages, but its a much better show than Hell's Kitchen where everyone just yells at each other smoking 12 packs of cigarettes in between every kitchen shift. That gets old pretty quick. This baking show has really opened my eyes again to what a good reality show can be. Calm, informative and without banter and arguments you end up routing for specific people, but then don't feel crushed if they loose. Its really quite refreshing. If I want to watch arguments and pointless drama I'd turn on that real housewives show or one of those other crap reality shows that are no where close to being "reality" and are more like badly acted ad lib soap operas.

    2. Strider Hiryu

      Strider Hiryu

This is generally why I like British TV more than American TV, no pointless drama and the shows are actually well thought out and funny (I adore the original version of the Office more than the American version, so much better and funnier). If you compare the original version of Being Human to the American version that was on SyFy you would see a remarkable difference (the British version was more focused on the characters and their problems, you actually felt connected to the characters unlike the American version).

I might have to give the show a shot. Sounds like its a lot more relaxing to watch then the crap we get over here for reality TV.

  23. We're getting almost 2 feet of snow over the next 2 days. -_-; Winter needs to end.

      Sledgstone

We have over a foot of snow now. People are getting power outages near us... and my neighbor has their car stuck at the end of the driveway preventing any plowing of our driveway. wtf. My driveway is a solid 1 1/2 feet deep of drifted snow and the road has only been plowed once all day. All the plows must be busy keeping the freeways and snow emergency routes cleared. I figure at this rate the snow might be up to the hood of my car by morning.

    2. Sledgstone

      Sledgstone

I got plowed out this morning. Yay. I'll take a few pics later. The heaviest snow bands moved on from my location so we didn't get an additional foot like I was concerned about. All in all, I think we got 2 feet total.

  25. I finished the Magi anime series last night. Its a really fun series, alot of action and decent plot. Alibaba is a bit to much on the high moral ground for me to really like him as a character, but all the rest of the characters like Aladdin (not even close to being like Aladdin from Disney, lol.) and Sinbad really make the series enjoyable. I watched the Sinbad series first because I didn't know any better but that didn't really take anything away from watching the full series afterwards. Theres 3 Magi series on Netflix and it doesn't make sense to me that they're 3 separate series when one is actually the second season and the Sinbad series is an OVA.

For anyone interested the order is: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Magi: The Kingdom of Magic and then Magi: Adventure of Sinbad. The Sinbad series starts off really strong with action and adventure and then basically turns into a story about how he became a big time merchant. ehhh.. The other two series felt more like a regular action/adventure anime with increasingly bigger fights and power ups while still having a good plot.
